has anyone been using their LTevo to buy anything with wallet in stores with NFC scanners like 711?
I went thru the trouble of turning my citi mastercard into a paypass tap and pay mastercard until i later learned that Wallet ONLY accepted citi paypass CREDIT cards and not DEBIT cards. Bummer. But thankfully Wallet lets you transfer money from bank accounts into Wallet to use within your Wallet prepaids. Its super easy to spend all my money now! Every morning when i go to 711 iv been playing via wallet with my evo and the guys there go nuts over it thinking its the coolest **** ever lol.
the only problem i have with it is that when it means "tap and pay" it really means "tap and pay" the NFC scanners on the card machines have VERY little range, i guess for security reasons. i literary have to slam my phone into it for it to read it.

Figuratively, I was able to pay for gas with mine. It was pretty close to the device before it began to sync up but did not have to tap it.
I had to remove my case, which I didn't like doing.
I have been using it. The first time it worked great. The next 2 times I had to scan it twice. Not sure what is going on. The first transaction just says "sent" and they say it didn't go through. The 2nd time i swipe it works.

I've used it twice at two separate BP gas stations, using the $10 credit that Google gave us for activating Wallet.
It worked great both times. I just turned on my screen, held the phone on the PayPass sensor for about a second, and then the phone vibrated and the Wallet app popped up, asking for my pin number to unlock the app. I entered my pin number, touched my phone to the PayPass sensor again, and it popped up with a receipt on my phone.
Yes I've used it at two different 711 and a rite aid. I got the unsupported device notice but it works just fine. I am using the prepaid card though. And just adding money.

I used mine at a soda machine. FYI if it is your first time using it on a vending machine, don't forget to press the 'complete' button or you might be paying for the next persons snack
I've made two payments, one at the 711 and another at best buy and it works great. The only complaint I have is having to reenter the pin even when I have the app open to make a payment.
I can't wait to try it tomorrow morning at McDonald's.
Yes, I reset google wallet before turning in my bad phone.
I had a touchscreen problem and had to have my ELTE replaced under warranty. I am probably one of the few people that actually uses Google Wallet NFC on a regular basis, and added money to the google pre-paid card. My balance was ~$25 when I reset my wallet settings before turning in the phone. Upon configuring Wallet on the new phone, I realized that my google pre-paid card balance was reset to $10! I thought the card/balance was tied to my gmail account, and not to the device itself?
This isn't a huge deal in my case, as it's only $15, but it's definitely something you guys should look out for. If the card is tied to the device itself, you probably don't want to run a huge balance on the card in case you break your phone and have to have it replaced.

Just call the support #.. I've heard other people have issues like this and they called and it was fixed.

I did call. It's being escalated, but they see no record of me adding the funds. Funny, because when I look at the transaction history on my phone, I can see the $20 added from my credit card. Good times!
I went thru something similar when i went from an EVO LTE to a GS3.
They did a search using my info and found the transaction where i added 20 bucks to my google wallet on my EVO LTE.
It took them about 24-36 hours to approve the transfer from my old device to the new one..
I had to go thru a verification process as well as go thru my emails and help them find the reciept that was emailed to me.
I have a developer edition running on AT&T. I have the correct SIM card but AT&T is not allowing the application to be downloaded on these phones. Has anyone found a work around? I did not want to root it yet.

Correct me if I am wrong but I believe ISIS is more widely accepted?

Google wallet you could use your own credit card through nfc where Isis you have to use their credit card, that's the only difference between the apps.

ISIS gives you a $50 credit for signing up.
Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Tapatalk
Google wallet works with any terminal that allows pay pass or whatever it's called plus allows you to add ALOT more cards to use , opposed to the what..2-3 cards allowed with Isis.
Plus I don't believe you need a special secure element built into a sim to use it . I know on ATT and Verizon purposely gimped a lot of phones to force people to use Isis while blocking people from using wallet by either having the secure element removed or completely shut off..a very shady way to do things IMO
https://www.paywithisis.com
Seems the money Isis pays is for friend referrals..10.00 per each friend you sign up..but if you don't have a Wells Fargo, chase, or American Express card..it's useless..MasterCard and visa plus numerous other banks aren't accepted with it I believe
Isis is carrier only,AT&T,Verizon,Tmobile I believe, Google wallet is worldwide...
Other getting a one time $50 credit for opening a card with them Isis is pointless and refuse to use the app, specially cause its ugly.

Ive got it loading fine on dev edition based rom...will need to use xposed work around but it works...soooo should be good to go in a little bit for those who are interested p.m. me for final phase of testing(i dont have a secure sim) ...if not then itll go to the one tester and he will reap the usage of isis on the dev build... :0P
When I was buying the phone, the rep heavily pushed ISIS on me. Even when I told him that I didn't need my credit record dinged by opening up an Amex card, he finally "caved in" by saying that it can be done later on, and begged me to do it as soon as possible. That "soon" will be never, because a short time later, I stuck on a GPE ROM that didn't have ISIS present on the device.
From what I've seen, not having ISIS isn't missing much. I don't like the fact that one has to open up a new line of credit. Nor that I have to use a root-hostile app. Google Wallet or Paypal do the same thing and I can use my existing cards/accounts, and I don't need a special SIM card.
To each their own obviously there is a need for it to work with developer build for folks that do already have and use it and had purchased the phone. Personally I don't use it or Google Wallet, but I did this for those who do...

That makes sense. Maybe the fact that it was so strongly pushed when buying the device gave a bad first impression.

You can download the app right from the play store. Just have to have the right sim. I tried on my GF's note 2 but the sim wasn't compatible. Just download it from the Play Store. Don't see why you wouldn't take advantage of a free $50 bucks of Gas, food, merchandise. You don't have to ever use it again. :good:
its blocked on playstore for a non branded device and will not install on the m8

Actually, the difference is HUGE. Google Wallet takes the transaction and tries to authorize a purchase to your designated credit card. Google Wallet does not look or behave like your designated card. Transactions first go to google's servers, then google servers try to authorize the amount against your preferred card and if approved then approves the transaction. Google retains the information for the transaction. This is useless for me since on my statement all my Google Wallet transactions show up as Google transactions.
ISIS, on the other hand, actually emulates your selected card. All transaction data is passed thru just as if you used your card. Since it's emulating your card, merchant details will show up on your statement, not "Google". Google Wallet is useless for many many business travelers that submit expense reports via statements... myself included.
went to pick up my new M8 with the ATT store, and got the same nag about ISIS. The SIM is compatible, and ISIS was installed, and they offer $50 credit on it. Since I knew I will root the phone and it will die anyhow, I said yes, and immediately bought screen protector and other stuff for a total of $45 , actually not paying a dime..
Cane home, unlocked boot , S-OFF and rooted the phone. ISIS does not work now even with the Xposed root bypass (I suspect the HW on the new SIM is lower level binary than xposed is), but I don;t care as I have Wallet installed and working fine. Anyhow it works exactly at the same places in the US, plus in Europe..
Over all- Say yes for the ATT rep, and get $50 free stuff in the store right away.. I don't see how this is affecting credit score as this is not a credit line, but a prepaid e-wallet..

Hmmm...I just unlocked, rooted and S-OFF'd my brand-new M8 over the weekend and loaded the latest ViperOne M8 ROM on it tonight; coming from the purposely gimped AT&T Galaxy S4, my modded M8 looks, runs, and sounds great, just like I want.
After using the latest Xposed ISIS root check bypass, I was able to get ISIS running just fine, signed up for it and Serve, and got my $50 credit (I didn't want to sign up in the store, because I wanted to get some more info on it first). Even if ISIS decides to stop working, the physical card should be here in a few days; the plus side to that is I'll be able to use that $50 anywhere that takes AMEX, even places without NFC terminals or at online stores, such as Amazon and Newegg.
"Free" money is always nice; it almost makes up for the taxes that I paid on the phone when I got it Friday.

Furthermore, at least it is my understanding, that since all of your purchases are funneling through Google, you won't get reward points on your credit cards for specific category purchases, and might not get them at all for the "everything else" category. For me, reward points and building credit are the whole purpose of me even using credit cards, so that's a huge red mark for Google Wallet.
This is how Google manages to support so many cards BTW. It's because they just make a "Google" purchase transaction on your card and then finance your purchase with Google Bucks. That may work for some, but it defeats the purpose for many, and at the very least, makes it difficult to track all your transactions.
To be fair, a lot of this is because AT&T is blocking Google from getting the appropriate contracts with CC companies, it's not like Google doesn't want to have the same type of service ISIS offers.
EDIT: I looked in to it further, and the other concern is that you would not get your credit card benefits either -- So kiss additional insurance, return protection, travel assurance, etc all goodbye. I wish that Google Wallet were what we all want it to be, but their current system is flawed.
Im just gonna toss tis out there, the Amex card you start with Isis is a prepayed card. It is NOT a hit on your credit at all. I like it as I then have a actual plastic card for it as well and if my son is going on a school trip, or scout function or heck even mothers day, I simply handed the card to him and he can use what money I put on it.
As for google wallet, I like it for gas purchases. I have my ATM card on it and use that at the pump. sometimes. but mainly NFC isnt nearly as prevalent around me to make either of these apps worth much to me.
Oh and with rootcloak in exposed installer Isis is working on my rooted S-Off'd M8 runing SkyFall from iBastid....
I believe my girlfriend's phone (verizon M8) may have been stolen, and also turned off, or put into airplane mode. I can not find any info about options for tracking it down if it doesn't have service currently turned on. She says it was taken from a desk in her office. She called the phone immediately but it was on silent. A few moments later, it started going straight to voicemail, and has been ever since (since yesterday afternoon). The phone had 3/4 battery. No luck with Device manager either, since it must be either off or in airplane mode. Only thing we can think of is that it either somehow got destroyed, turning it off, or someone stole it and placed it in airplane mode. She had no password protection, which makes this all quite scary that someone could be going through all of her info on the phone.
Any advice is highly appreciated.

Youre probably out of luck. If anyone wiped it and uses a new google account then google wont track it under your girlfriends account.
Probably need to notify Verizon and wait until someone tries to activate it.

She has insurance so isn't a giant deal if someone wipes it. Much more worried about stolen pictures, info, etc. As far as I can tell, if they have it in Airplane mode, they have free reign to view everything in her phone. Have already notified Verizon and will be filing a police report as well.
Not sure what her office atmosphere or security is like. But unfortunately its not an uncommon event where thieves walk around office buildings pretending like they work there, and steal laptops, phones, etc. To gain entrance, they will even "piggyback" behind an employee, after the employee has swiped their security badge at an entrance. Which is why my building is strict about checking the badge of anyone that tries to piggyback behind you, if you don't recognize them.
Although of course it also possible it was stolen by someone that works in the building.
I'd absolutely report to Verizon, so they can blacklist the phone (does Verizon do that?). And report to the building management/security. They might have security camera footage, or at least get the word out to the office that a thief is around.

It's a well known engineering firm, which makes it so crazy that someone in her office would do that. She has had half the office helping her out with no one able to find anything. No one can get in the office without a badge, as you said. Unfortunately, the only security cameras are in the staircase, not the room she was in. I just can't imagine a fellow employee would risk their career on this, but no other scenario really makes sense to me.
Verizon has flagged the phone already, so that's good.
Ok, so this is my first Samsung device in a while, and I was excited to try out Samsung Pay for the MST payments. I've used Google Wallet / Android Pay / Google Pay in the past. I got the card setup and in the app. I've yet to find it working at all.
I've tried at two different Walmart's with zero success. The first time I had no service so the app wouldn't load. The second one it never did anything, even after hitting "Credit Card" on the terminal screen. I've heard Walmart tries to block it, and got a bad card error or something to that effect. I tried at another store (forgot where) and nothing happened. Today I tried at a grocery store that I *know* accepts NFC payments. I've used my watch as well as my v20 and it has worked. It seemed like it was attempting to work but was failing. I tried taking my phone out of the case (which is just as slim as the case I had on my v20) and still no luck.
I had the app opened already and was sitting on the card's screen. I don't know what else I could possibly do. Samsung pay app never says or does anything, no popup, no error, nothing. Anyone have any suggestions?

So this might sound dumb but did you scan your fingerprint before you tried to use it? You pull up your card and then you have to scan your finger before you can actually pay with it.
This is my first time using Samsung pay and I used 10 times over the weekend and a variety of places with no issues.
I tried it for the first time as well on a credit card machine that had the NFC logo, but also got an invalid card error. Not off to a good start.
I too have not had success using Samsung Pay but have only tried a couple times with my S9+. Google Pay on my S6 Edge always worked fine but I wanted to try Samsung Pay on the new phone (my S6 was purchased unlocked on Ebay and some apps, including Samsung Pay, were not allowed (could not be installed).
I might add that I love Walmart pay and will always opt to use that when shopping Walmart. The ability to submit your receipt immediately upon your checkout approval to Walmart "Savings Catcher" makes it the convienient vehicle for payment at Walmart. Walmart Savings Catcher had rebated me $100's over the years.

As mentioned, make sure you have entered your PIN or scanned your fingerprint to use the card.
The NFC chip is about mid-back of the phone. If you don't have it on the right spot, it'll appear nothing will happen and you'll timeout in SP, and have to re-enter your PIN/scan fingerprint again. I've found that what works best for me it turn the phone horizontally, start SP, put the phone in the middle of the terminal screen and slowly move it to the card swipe side (usually on right side). Eventually it gets close enough where SP will be picked up and the terminal will then begin to do its processing.
I have had this fail for my debit card at Pick 'N Save (grocery store), but my credit card will work fine. Same thing at Target stores. These two locations both use chip readers, and everything looks like it'll work but then the terminal will error with something like "Cannot read card" or "Invalid card". Also make sure that you feel the phone vibrate and/or make an audible sound when it does work, and don't pull your device away too quickly, otherwise it may fail. I've had this happen at Walgreens stores.
When I had my S7 I was never able to check out at walmart. It could be a walmart thing. But I haven't checked it out lately.
I just used samsung pay at Walmart for the first time today. I will say that my first attempt was also a fail, and it could have been my fault idk? All I done was self checkout everything myself so I don't be rushed, then on payment screen hit (other payment methods), then on my phone swiped up on Samsung pay and followed what it told me to do. Just had to touch phone to credit card thing. So the first time I might have taken to long I really don't know, but i tried again and it worked just fine.
Walmart doesn't"like" apps like Samsung pay. There's usually issues using it there.... It's not Samsung pay, but Walmart (age of PoS terminal seems to affect success at various Walmarts imo.
I use Samsung pay for almost every purchase, except those rare ones I'm forced to make at Walmart.

While I do like walmart pay my issue is that the app takes forever to load.
As for SP, only one has the app asked me to use fingerprint /pin. On Google Pay, if my phone is already unlocked recently, it wouldn't ask. Where is it you swipe up from? The home button area? They really should have a tutorial for first time users......

The walmart pay is ridicules. you have to go throw 3 steps to get it up. They need a dedicated icon for that, otherwise, it's worthless. Unless they want that so you're so distracted that you don't notice if you overpaid or something.
I do not think is the age of the PoS Terminals, I think walmart is just blocking everything else is not walmart pay. IIRC, they dont trust any other systems(google pay, samsung pay, nfc, apple pay, etc) out there.

Yes I swiped up from the home button area. It goes right into the samsung pay app and my phone was already unlocked so all I had to do was enter my pin to use it.
I had no issues using it at Target. Where I place the phone depends on the reader. If it is a nfc tap to pay then I put center of phone right over the tap icon on reader. If it is just a standard chip/card swipe reader I hold the phone vertically right over where you swipe a card (usually right side of the reader).
I could be wrong but I would think it would be hard for Walmart to stop Samsung pay since it basically mimics the magnetic strip on your credit card so essentially the card reader doesn't know the difference between your phone with Samsung pay and your actual card
Walmart is hit or miss because they're pushing their own app-based payment platform. I've gotten it to work on my S7 a few times. My CVS does the same thing, although I've never gotten Samsung Pay to work there at all.
I never was able to successfully use Samsung Pay at Walmart with my previous S7. I haven't tried with my S9 but I suspect it won't work either.
So, for people struggling with the same issue, swipping up wasn't working for me. Even switching from Nova back to Samsung Experience Launched, no luck. It just opens the app drawer.
I figured out why. I didn't have any "favorite cards" selected. Once I did, I was able to swipe up for the card, on Samsung and Navy launchers.
Also, turning on fingerprint gestures, and selecting "swipe up for Samsung pay" works.
Both options I gave me a Samsung pay screen I've never noticed before, which let's me select my card and start the 15 second countdown timer. Again, I never saw this screen previously.
I did just notice at the ferry bottom of the screen in the pay app, if you look there, it says something about use with pin / fingerprint. It's so far down I didn't notice it before.

As I mentioned before, I'd be surprised if Walmart can stop SP. The MST tech it uses essentially mimics the magnetic strip on your credit card so how would the card reader at walmart even know you're using samsung pay versus a regular credit card? This has me very curious. I'm think I might have to go to walmart this week to try and buy something with Samsung pay. I'll let you guys know what happens.

That makes perfect sense also because on the receipt it looked like I just used my credit card. It had no idea that i used my phone, this was my first time using my phone to pay so I was really curious how it all worked. NFC was turned off on my phone so I know it didn't use that, unless it turns it on then back off maybe.
