[Q] Rooting i9300 locked to a network - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi i have been looking into rooting my S3 i9300. Now most of the tutorials i find say they are not meant for network locked phones. I never knew this would have been an issue, im sure i rooted my i9000 and it was locked. What im wondering is if it does affect the rooting process being locked then how do i go about rooting my phone?
Thanks.

sorry i think i have found what im looking for... apparently being sim locked has nothing to do witht he rooting process... strange when alot of the tutorials i have read/watched say otherwise.
Sorry for posting a new thread!!

Noob to Rooting [Vodafone AU] SGS2

Hi all, I wanted to root my Samsung galaxy s2 (locked to the Vodafone Network Australia) and due to my crap searching skills could not find a sticky which showed a detailed step by step process.
I have absolutely no clue on how to start (although I have done similar "roots' to my Nokia N73 and Iphone 2) I would like to the old firmware available encase something goes wrong but don't know all those DKU thing and which one will work for my phone.
If someone could help me out or link me to a way of rooting and finding all the required information for my phone it would be fantastic.

Serious Questions on rooting Galaxy S2

Hey guys! 404 here!
I have some questions that I would like answered because I'm pretty weary on the idea of rooting. I understand that there is so many benefits of rooting a phone but these questions may seem strange but I guess I was taught to ask before I do.
If I were to root my phone on one carrier on the Galaxy S2 that I have currently with one company still in a plan, would I be able to insert another carriers SIM card whilst the phone has been rooted simply because what I thought is that the phone would be locked to that sim that was is in the phone being rooted.. Also, I forgot to mention. Would there be any other hazards such as that if I root the phone?
If I am able to root the phone and insert any SIM card into the phone at a later stage, could anyone provide me with a tutorial on how to root and unroot the Galaxy S2.
Thanks.

1. Rooting and unlocking are different things. But yeah you can unlock your device after you root it.
2. There are lots of tutorials on how to safely root.
3. It's really easy to unroot. You go to www.sammobile.com, download the firmware you want and flash through Odin.
4. Any other questions don't hesitate to ask.

Well...
Its not just about your ROM or your carrier.
Motorola Atrix may be incompatible with lots of games and applications due to software & hardware prerequisites.
Here are list of custom Roms for you:

How can i root my atrix mb861? Clockworkmod requires rooting first? Any possibilities when rooting brick my phone?
Use search, there are countless threads with guides and explanations.
Rooting is irrelevant for CWM. There is always a chance of bricking your phone.

Perhaps you should keep reading until you learn more about android. You're just at the beginning and seem to be lost. Problems arise after this step.
I can't find the tutorial I used or remember how since it was so long ago... But see if this helps: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S6a0BWquqAc

1 yes you can
2 so many do a search
3 no you cant update your phone if it is rooted
3.1 but you can update it by unrooting it temporarily using an app superuser
4 1 rooting will void your warranty
2 do it as clear as per the instructions for rooting else you will soft brick your phone you can unbrick that but take precautions
that's all take a risk friend

[Q] Please help me

Hey all my bootloader said it can be unlocked and just wondering if I can have some help with the rooting process this is my first owned sony
get root then install twrp recovery then backup TA.
to root :
try giefroot. if failed, find older kitkat firmware version & flash using flashtools. repeat giefroot.
if Z3v is not supported, then proceed to unlock bootloader
Code:
http://developer.sonymobile.com/unlockbootloader/unlock-yourboot-loader/
unlocking bootloader may cause losing drm keys permanently

Whoa, think about what you're doing first. Are you unlocking for developmental purposes? There hasn't been any root to achieve yet and unlocking will mean losing the DRM keys that Sony uses to enhance such functions like the camera sensors. It's a point of no return because none of the software that's available online supports the Z3v. And I mean root, TA backup, and even PC Companion itself.
Just a caution to let you know.
bnm
U have Skype
ya... be careful.... but it is good to know that some of z3v devices are allowed to unlock bootloader.... nice one.... but unfortunately my device was not allowed
p.shashikiran94 why are you resurrecting all these old posts? Are you trying to rack up you post count?
I'm frustrated because after a basically dead board here for several weeks, I posted a question that suddenly got buried out of sight so it never gets answered.
God forbid I ask on the development board for I'll surely suffer "noob chastisement".

It's weird he's resurrecting them, I agree. And I wouldn't bother with unlocking unless there is definitive proof we can. I say this because someone here went so far into the terminal of his Z3v that he got into hot waters and bricked his phone. After changing out with Verizon too many times, they kicked him out of his warranty.
