Now we can use the qualcomm bootloader is there a way I can simply just dump my current rom. Interop Unlock and then put it back.
I had a dev unlock for a bit (And used about 3 or 4 xap utilities - similar ones are adware on the official store) but it has run out.
My phone itself is working pretty good and I am not spending much time messing around with it (Which is a first for me).
If I reflash I expect to lose exchange activesync for gmail which works wonderfully.
(I was lead to believe the unlock was just changing a few registry keys.)

here is the help, firstly how do i locate the file and secondly how do i open it, canit be done as in andriod ph's file manager? also i m on stock 7.5 mango i don't know if i i can follow the tethering procedure.... any help will be kindly appreciated thanks
Hi,
First of all, could you please post a thread topic?
This way, members that might be able to help you become aware of the problem much faster.
Regarding your problem:
There is no file browser like in Android built-in.
It should not be necessary, because all installed applications are displayed in Programs.
Additionally, you need to be at least Interop-unlocked (if not even fully unlocked) for this Tethering-procedure to work.
Is your phone unlocked? If so, which unlock does it have?

thanks for yr speedy reply..
no my ph is not unlock as i ve just updated, also i m searching for a tutorial to do so, as i jumped straight from 7.0.7004 to 7.10.7720 i m not quite sure where to start or which to follow cause i m not used to win lingo yet
Incidentally i do not see "Programs" in my ph, is it there by default?
Appreciate yr help
Hi again,
Yes, the Programs are there by default
When you are viewing the main screen (just press the Home-button, the one with the Windows-flag, to get there).
Then flick the screen to the left (moving your finger from right to left) and you should see a list of installed programs (including "Settings", "Office", ...).
Regarding the unlock, there are several ways:
- the official one (obtaining a developer account for WP7 from Microsoft and registering your phone to it)
- the semi-official way (http://labs.chevronwp7.com/) which is a cooperation of Chevron and Microsoft
- the unofficial way (via flashing a pre-unlocked Rom, see below for details)
Both official options cost real money, so you might be tempted to go for the cheap (aka free) version, especially if you are not a developer.
To do this, you will have to flash a custom Rom on your phone, which is already unlocked.
The additional advantage of this method is that you can chose a custom Rom that has Internet Sharing activated by default (via the application that was introduced to some handsets via Mango).
HOWEVER, you will lose your warranty and (at the moment) all the data on the phone.
Flashing will format the phone, which will delete all savegames, SMS, eMails, ... you name it
This should not be a major aspect if you just got your phone.
Everything that has been synchronized to the Microsoft cloud or some other storage can be restored later.
BUT at the moment there is no way to backup your SMS, savegames and settings.
(You can do a full backup for the sake of returning to an official rom, which will include ALL the data - i.e. SMS, settings, ... - however, this backup can only be restored by 100%, therefore you will lose all the data you stored on the phone AFTER doing the backup).
That's that
If you should like to flash a custom Rom, just head over to the Rom Development-segment of the Mozart-Forum and choose a custom Rom.
But beware, depending on your SPL you might have to go through some hoops to flash it or it might even be impossible...
Also, the Rom development-forum provides several threads regarding all the details of flashing a Rom, which SPLs are ok and which to avoid.
So I guess you should be fine if you take some time to read into the matter
Good Luck.
Thks FrozenLord
Ive just restored 7.0.7008 fr 7.10.7720 cos the battery is atrocious it was fully charged n i sent a few emails, sms and 3 ph calls then i went to bed, the battery was flat in 11hrs, when it was on 7004 it lasted 2days
I had a look at the dev section and i kinda like deepshinning rom which i ve to figure out how to flash it. Tho the ph is only 6mths old now i m not bothered abt the warranty the only thing is that do i ve to go back to 7004 to be able to flash the rom?
current: os 7.0.7008.0
fw 2250.09.12902.728
rd 5.69.09.05a.22.50.50.21u
bootloader 5.0.2250.1(130781)
A pointer or a link to flash the ds rom will be much appreciated
thanks again
I have just got my lumia 800, I have been reading pages and pages on disabling it. Even updating to 7.8
I read on here that you can't do it unless you have full registry access? But I was wondering if flashing it to a different firmware would give me the ability to do so? I was thinking of the Clean ROM Stock version like this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2058498
I have the Unlocked Vodapone version if this matters.
You can install on your phone any OFFICIAL ROM with Nokia Care Suite but you won't be able to change anything in registry, so you have to check if you have Bootloader unlocked or not, if not - you can't do anything with registry and you will have to unlock your phone (Bootloader i mean).
Hi there,
So I am a bit confused, but mostly I am curious... So I have a Sony Xperia Z4 Tablet (SGP771), I bought it off ebay pre-owned and for awhile I have been curious about rooting this device (mainly to block ads and remove unwanted and unremoveable content [ie Facebook] whilst still using stock android, but rooted). But for awhile now I have known that my device in the service\configuration menu has said 'Bootloader Unlock Allow: No' which has excluded me from what feels like everything available in terms of modifying the system to actually be rooted. The device is network locked to O2 UK, which I also assume the device is network restricted in relation to the bootloader also.
So I am confused because some threads have said about unlocking a locked bootloader, whilst most have clearly stated that their modification is not for my device (After having the bad bootloader message after all). So my question is, could someone tell me what actually is available (If anything at all) For me to root this device?
What I have learnt so far is that if I want to change the 'Bootloader Unlock Allowed: No' I would have to switch the motherboard with another one (Which is clearly an extremely expensive process and not something I would want to do). Other than that I would have to wait for an exploit, But I am not sure if there is one available (Yet?) which brings me to my earlier question. Otherwise I would have to continue to use the unrooted stock android, which I dont really have any issue with because I would definitely still root it and use stock if that was available to me (Blasted bootloader rejection).
I would really apprechiate a response on this and thanks for reading XD
I would contact o2 and see if they can help.
Maybe SONY (doubt they will do it) or a SONY repair center (third party).
Replacing the bootloader should be doable in software.
No solution to Xperia Z4 Tablet Locked Bootloader
Hello, I got the same model locked to O2 UK as well and as far as I know there's still no solution to that problem, ie changing the rooting status to YES or rooting the device on a locked bootloader like we all rooted previous Xperia devices. O2 requested Sony to lock the bootloader on purpose. There are many reasons for this. One of them is, O2 doesn't want anyone to change the IMEI of their device if it gets blacklisted, for example. Of course Sony (Service Centre) can unlock it but I doubt we find a Sony member of staff who will risk losing their job for doing so. However, there's a way of uninstalling unwanted apps (bloatware) without root, but this method uninstalls the bloatware for the current user only. So basically if you have several user accounts, you'll have to uninstall those apps as many times, and also keep in mind that the operation is not reversible. So the only way to restore those apps is by factory-resetting the tablet which leads to wiping all the user-data. That method is done via a PC and you need to install, I think, Android SDK as well as Sony drivers. The full guide can be found here
https://www.xda-developers.com/uninstall-carrier-oem-bloatware-without-root-access/
Again, this is not reversible unless you factory-reset the tablet.
If I ever find a solution, or a renegade Sony guy lol, I'll let you know.
Hi!
I am trying to network unlock my phone - it is paid off but the network here say they won't provide unlock codes (I live on a little island in the Caribbean - things are a little different - legal or not they won't help).
Now for the stupid questions/points.
1. Does unlocking the bootloader mean any SIM will work?
2. If I do manage to unlock the bootloader (please laugh - I have not been able to in 3 days..) Can I remove some of the bloatware, or do I need to install a different ROM.
All I want is to use the phone with another network when I travel, and if not too hard a phone I can delete apps I don't want.
It is a Samsung A10s (A107M)
Thanks!!!
1. Unlocking bootloader does not mean it will unlock your carrier/SIM. Bootloader locked and carrier locked are two different things.
2. You can remove some of the bloatware with or without unlocking the bootloader, here is a good tutorial on how to do it, all you need is a PC and adb: https://www.xda-developers.com/what-is-adb/ and https://www.xda-developers.com/uninstall-carrier-oem-bloatware-without-root-access/
You could unlock it with z3x box. Though you will have to get additional parts.
You might flash a unlocker
Hello Everyone,
I bough this Redmi Note 10 with screen broken, so I replaced the screen for an OLED new one, I wiped out the data and now I`m getting this Mi Account Lock screen.
The guy who sold the phone to me has deleted this account a long time ago, so I don`t have more access to this. I tried out a lot of methods to bypass and/or remove this lock screen but none of them worked.
So I`m thinking the best solution for this is to Unlock the bootloader and flash a Custom ROM like Pixel Experience for example.
What do you think about it ? Is it possible to unlock it using EDL mode or something like that ?
I think the best course of action for you will be to unlock the bootloader
Ok, So I'm gonna try it. Do you have any idea of how to do it within the EDL mode in this phone ?
Cause I've tried to search for it, and I found it, but only for other xiaomi phones.
There is only one way to unlock bootlader for all Xiaomi phones and it requires MI Unlock software (there is an unofficial alternative for Linux but it requires a bit more of work).
As far as I know to unlock bootloader the phone needs to be previuosly associated to your Mi account, so I'm not sure how you are going to do that.

I'm a Linux user so I think I can go ahead with this tool. What tool is this ?
It's just an unofficial version that runs on Linux, you still need the phone to be associated to a Mi account.
This is the one I used

That protection is there for a reason, even if you claim you're the legit owner.
No, you can't unlock if you can't boot to the system.
Best and legit way is to reset the password first in the Mi Account from i.mi.com, use any email/phone number that was used to register the account. Then remove the device from that account. Connect the device to wifi and use the new password to unlock the phone.
I don't think even local Xiaomi service center would agree to reset the phone unless you bring the legit invoice from the first purchase.
I agree with x3r0.13urn. Just in other words: If the previous owner doesn't give you access to unlock the bootloader, you can only use the phone for spare parts (Mi bill or proof of purchase with IMEI marked).

If what the guy said is true, should not the phone be automatically removed from that account?
I don't really know since I never tried.
I don't think so. Deleting the entire account is not that easy, if he has a registered device, it's not even possible.
He does not remember his login details or is no longer willing to do anything about it.
Hi,
Here is a great way to do it. Worked very well for me!
