Hi there, I'm stuck in a conundrum after owning and flashing several Android devices since Gingerbread, including HTC Evo 3D, HoX and SGS4.
My girlfriend bought a i9305 SGS3, and all is well running stock. I showed her the several ROMs out there (I'm currently using a S5 themed ROM for my S4) and she wants a similar looking ROM for her S3.
Downgraded to 4.1.1, SIM unlocked and PhilZ 6.48.4 installed with Odin all fine. Went to install "GlamourS5 for S3", zip copied fine, md5 matches but on reboot I get the Samsung Galaxy SIII i9305 boot screen, then the screen goes black. No boot animation, no bootloop.
So I pulled battery and went back into recovery and wiped /cache (usual boot issue), rebooted again and same again, gets past SGS3 screen but no boot anim or AndroidOS.
I have since tried "S5 Sensation ROM" and even tried "S5UI-FDN V5". All flash sucessfully and then boot to black screen. I also used latest TWRP and PhilZ 4.41.6 in case the latest PhilZ was bugged. Again, the screen worked A-OK stock.
I'm after any ideas while I restore stock 4.3.
Thanks in advance!
I am not sure but are these roms for the s3 i9300 or s3 i9305?
I don't think you can flash a i9300 rom on a i9305
Cant do that
Those Roms are only for i9300.
Check for I9305 roms here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/development-i9305
I dont think there are s5 themed roms for I9305

I've been trying many times to get a working copy of the starburst rom with overclock kernel onto my galaxy tab 10.1, but everytime I reboot it sticks on the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 screen with the yellow exclamation...Does anyone know if there is something wrong with the ROM or where I can find a link that might work? Many thanks.
nothings wrong but.....you sorta voided your warranty
(on the galaxy tab 10.1 logo screen right?)
yeah it means that you flashed a non-samsung binary...that adds a +1 to the flash counter....so if you have a problem your screwed...(they wont fix it)
Actually i don't know what you did...i just flashed cwm recovery then flashed the rom...what did you do
(mine didn't give me anything)
So I've usually only dealt with the rooting/romming scene for Motorola, and I need some help.
I bought a Galaxy Tab P7510 WIFI only off Craigslist. It's the Google I/O version. It was sold to me as a Galaxy Tab 2, but now I'm under the impression that the P7510 is a Galaxy Tab 1 (which I have no problem with).
- It came with what I believe was CM10 installed.
- After seeing that the Tab 2 had the JB OTA released I downloaded the applicable firmware (based on P7510) and used Mobil Odin Pro to get back to stock (thinking I would be able to OTA to JB still thinking this was a Tab 2).
- I managed to get that far and get to stock so at this point I looked for the OTA in system updates and finally realized hey this isn't a Tab 2 because ICS says up to date, so now I want to go back to JB, but maybe in the form of SlimBean.
- I downloaded CWM to flash custom recovery, used Odin via PC and flashed. All went well and I got the green "Pass".
- So at this point I know I'm close, I just need to boot into recovery, do my wipes, and flash the SlimBean zip and I'm done. But the problem is the Tab won't boot into recovery. I tried power + volume up, i tried power + volume down, i tried power + both volumes but I get nothing. Is this a common easily dealt with issue? Everything on the Tab is stock, rooted, with CWM supposedly flashed, but I just can't boot into recovery...
I'm surprised I got this far without asking for help, but at this point anything is appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Last night I softbricked installing a rom. The device was being very weird and would not boot correctly. The device started showing the big GALAXY S4 splash screen instead of the usuall plain SAMSUNG sometimes says custom unlock sometimes not depending on the rom/kernal being used. Now even with Kernals that used to say SAMSUNG custom all it says is the big only GALAXY S4 splash screen. The device seems to take alot longer to get past this screen as well. Any suggestions on this??
Recovery would flash roms and device would boot once but would not boot after reset. SO F-it just Odin back to stock, root, recovery, done.
everything is working now except I still have the GALAXY S4 splash scren instead of the SAMSUNG and takes forever to boot/load past splash screen.
Is this stored in the kernal? Ive tired different kernals and all have stayed the same. I have completly ODIN back to stock wiped any and everything on this device.
QUESTION Summary::: Whats up with this splash screen VS the other one, why cant i get it to go back to the way it was before even after ODIN stock img, and why does it take longer to load and 1/2 the time not load at all.
Is there a BIOS that is not wiped... I think I broke it.
EDIT: Just sat on the SAMSUNG GALAXY S4 for 20 minutes before starting after fresh rom install... what a pain.

yes the boot.img is held in the kernel....flash back to stock and reroot your device dont take any chances...hopefully you have some backups on an external sd card....this happened to me as well and i could only get to download mode so i flashed back to stock and rerooted my device everything is peachy....dont dont dont take any chances with this phone the security measures in this phone are insane and if you keep messing around with having the device "sometimes boot with custom samsung screen and sometimes not" there is something wrong with the partition....youre best bet is to flash stock and reroot....if you have a backup on an external sd card then youre set otherwise start over or you will have a $700 paper weight....let me know if you have any questions reverting back to stock or anything else good luck dude
Yeah I restored started from Odin stock last night. I thought that would take out anything that I flashed that caused the issue. But it didn't fix it.
I odin'ed back installed root recovery and still having issues where it will not boot after 2 or 3 resets. Hangs on thats galaxy s4 splash screen for more than 30 and never boots.
I would think that when it was odin'ed it would have over written the boot IMG and any thing else it might be but its not.

when you did odin back to stock did you do a factory reset...NOT FROM RECOVERY....from settings>>backup and restore>>factory data reset? ......theres a couple of things to look for here....Odin back to stock and boot in the STOCK recovery....try wiping the cache and dalvik partitions...if they fail then the partitions are corrupted....boot normally and go to settings>>backup and restore>>factory data reset....try that...if that doesnt work then try a factory reset from the stock recovery...if all of that STILL doesnt work then the partitions are corrupted I would ask for a replacement device
Rooted my phone, installed a custom rom and ran that for a few weeks so I have successfully installed 1 rom. Tried a different rom since and it wouldn't get past boot screen.
Tried reflashing the boot.img file still no joy.
Now it wont boot to the boot screen OR hboot.
The power light LED is on constantly, even when not being charged
Phone: HTC One S
1st Custom rom :Cyanogen
2nd Custom rom: Stock LITE from a link on another thread. (Unfortunately I can't post links because I am too new)
I am in the UK so am I right to assume that I have the S3 version not S4 version? Could trying to put a S4 rom on an S3 phone have caused my problem?
Any ideas?
Hi I am a noob to droids and I rooted my tab and all was well at first. I knew that I could not put a custom rom on it or get a custom recovery however I thought I would be able to install a theme on it. After I installed it it said to reboot and I did and It was getting stuck on the atnt logo. I tried going into recovery mode and doing a factory reset and still the same result. I heard that odin can restore samsung devices I just dont know how to get the firmware for my tablet I looked everywhere and what to do. If someone could please help me it would be most appreciated the device was on jellybean 4.2.1 I believe.
