Hi all, I have Tronsmart PS7 7" phablet and have used it for a while now. It is great device, very fast and has great screen. I would say everything works perfectly for me except for one thing.
When I scrolling content on a screen, often an action for scrolling is taken as a tap by the device and it will open up another screen. For example, I read my news through Google Newsstand news reader and it is very annoying that often it open up an article while I meant to scroll. On browser, often it does zoom-in/out when again I intend to scroll. Somehow the screen is too sensitive.
On the other hand, I found the keyboard is not sensitive enough. I often missed some letters when typing.
Has anyone faced the same issues and managed to resolve it? Fyi, I root the device and it still runs the ROM that came with it.
Thanks.
I had similar problems, it was mostly because of the uneven glue holding my screen down causing it to warp slightly, I used a heat gun to remove my screen and stick it down with a more even glue.
ultimately I scuffed and bent quite a bit of it, but it all works great now, its just not as pretty as it started out
I'd recommend returning it and getting another or a refund.

Wow. Just noticed something really odd with the keyboard/screen, but then it could be my phone!
If put your phone on a flat surface (ie table) - try type some letters on the right/left/bottom edge - i find it not as responsive as if you typed in the middle part of the screen. But if you hold the phone in your hands, its perfectly fine!
Anyone else getting that weird problem?
Yep
Noticed the problem to.
I'm guessing there is some screen sensitivity changes when it knows its flat on a surface.
I guess its another on the list of things to fix when the release a new build (or some devs release soem cooked ROMs).
I wonder if this is related to the capacitive nature of the touchscreen? I can replicate the effect if the phone is flat on the surface and I'm only touching it with my typing finger. However, if I rest another finger on the device, or hold it lightly by the edges (still sitting flat on the surface) it works fine.
If this is the case, I doubt any rom will be able to fix it since it is likely to be the capacitive touch screen technology and not a software "fault" per se.
Regards,
Dave
I have seen this too. I wondered if it was a perspective thing - are you pressing the right part of the screen?

Oh yeah, looks like I am pressing the right part. It just have to be more firmer pressing those edge buttons. It doesn't matter which way the keyboard layout is.
Anyway, thanks to everyone confirming that you got the same problem. I would have thought it was hardware related, but it could be software related I suppose. Perhaps whatever software is trying to rotate the keyboard is having a hard time to work out what direction to show the keyboard is causing that weird problem
Try holding the phone between thumb and forefinger whilst it is on a flat surface and then typing. If I do this, I have no issues, but the second I remove my fingers, I then get the lack of response for the keys on the bottom row of the device.
Regards,
Dave
mines the same may be to avoid key presses in your pocket?
I have the same problem too. It isn't a problem with all capacitive screens as the iphone never used to do this (l know, I know)
So far I've found no solution, let's hope it gets a quick fix
wow, and I thought it was only me, when I put the phone on the desk, and try use my fingers it becomes really unresponsive but when I'v got it in my hand and I'm using my thumb its all fine, hmmm really weird
it's not really a fault, but more of the nature of the capacitive screen and/or software. In comparison with the iPhone, the iPhone's capacitive screen lets you type/navigate with the phone lying on a flat surface. I find that the Hero's screen requires you to apply a tiny bit more pressure and more surface-area of your finger/thumb, for it to respond. I hope HTC somehow tweak the software for this to be more responsive with less pressure/surface-area contact required so it is usable on a flat surface - don't always want to be picking my phone up to use it at work.
i confrim, using hero without touch the metal edge result in less responsivity and difficult on multitouch operation
hope new firmware can solve this, too many errors using it like a normal keyboard on a table!
Noticed the same problem when using the Hero in my In Car Holder. Makes data input into CoPilot very difficult indeed.
A couple of observations...
I actually have mine in one of those Silicon Covers - the new style 'Gel' ones (work really well and looks good too, unlike old Silicon ones). So it's not actually about having contact with metal as such.
Problem does not occure when plugged into USB.
Now this bit could just be perception rather than reality, but I tried typing while flat (USB disconnected) when touching the coated surface around the trackball and it did not seem to improve things. Trying to do the same while touching the metal area around the speaker grill did seem to improve things. You guys observing similar ?
Anyway, I'm hoping that when I have my car charger, it will fix my CoPilot problem since this should be the same as having the USB plugged in.

Hi guys,
I'm a NC owner (running CM7.1) and recently purchased a BlackBerry Playbook ($199 for the 16GB). The NC has been well used this past year, but I'd like something faster and plan to sell the NC. So far, I'm in love with the PlayBook's hardware (dual core 1GHz, 1GB RAM, GPS, Bluetooth, compass, gorgeous screen), and the QNX operating system is incredibly snappy, but I really, REALLY miss all the apps I was using on the NC. The App World is just so incredibly inadequate.
I managed to get the Developer Beta 2.0 OS running on the PlayBook to try out running Android apps, but after jumping through all the hoops to convert apks to bars, sign them with my keys, etc, almost none of them work. Although it would be amazing if there was an active Android community for the Playbook, but alas it doesn't seem like it's going to get much support. It's like having a hot rod that you can only use in the garage. There's no point.
So that brings me to me to my gripes with the NC... Mainly the touchscreen.
The display for the NC is pretty great, but what I really didn't like was how unresponsive to finger taps it would be, especially in the corners of the unit. Tapping on tiny little buttons in the corners (search button for instance) was almost impossible it seemed. Granted, with CM7, the touchscreen could be calibrated and it was better, but still not great.
TL;DR
So does the Nook Tablet still have touchscreen dead zones (near the corners of the screen) like the NookColor has?
Mine seems very responsive even in the corners. The screen has a different feel, almost like there is something a little sticky on it.

The coating is residue from the protective plastic cover they place over the glass. It wears off with use.

could you maybe try an app like sketchbook to see if it is more responsive than the NC was? this is my primary concern with the NT, I need to be able to use the touchscreen to draw diagrams, etc - at work.
If someone could check this I would really appreciate it.
Thanks

I had bought the B&N matte anti-glare screen protector for the NC (and I gave the second one away to a friend). One of the main benefits from it was that it allowed for easier gliding across the screen surface.
I had already read that the NT only has 2 points of tracking on the touchscreen, and as a result some games won't work properly. I'm okay with this, but the touchscreen deadzones were a big issue. Trying to dog-ear pages in the reading app for instance was maddening.
Thanks guys. Sounds like it is an improvement over the NC screen in this regard.
It feels much more accurate to me. With the nook color when I would click small links (for example on websites), I would often miss. Also, they fixed the touch sensitivity on the corners (on the nook color, using dolphin kind of sucked because closing tabs was a huge pain in the ass).
Im very happy with the touchscreen on the NT. No complaints
i would like to know as well

Picked up my Note on Sunday from Best Buy. Yesterday afternoon I started having problems with S-pen causing inadvertent actions without me touching the screen. At first I thought maybe I touched the screen without realizing it, but at this point I can hold the pen 1/4 inch or more away from the screen and it still occasionally clicks the screen (or draws a line in S Note). Not constant, but often enough to be easily demonstrated.
I'm planning to exchange it but wondered if anyone else is having this issue or knows of a fix.
Digitizer performance continued to deteriorate over the next few hours and using the S-pen became nearly impossible. It was clicking everything it came close to. Did a factory reset to clear any software issues but the problem persisted.
Best Buy staff was great about exchanging the phone... and I got the last blue Note they had in stock. I was surprised they still had their one white Note available; no one had bought a white Note at that store.
Yeah I noticed that on mine. It lasted a short time but was pretty bad.
This is rather unbelievable as it's a Wacom digitizer not some Samsung hack, in spite of the S-pen moniker.
I imagine it's possible Wacom didn't want their name associated with it just because of something like this. I hope not at least
Anyway, I never noticed this with the international version, and I had one for a while.
Unacceptable if it would occur often.
update: It just occurred to me that this may be a pen issue. It's an ultra small pen, and this issue might not happen with a regular Wacom pen.
I will keep an eye out for this.
Not just S pen
I'm experiencing the same issue with my galaxy note, but not just with the S pen.
After upgrading my software, the lower-right hand side of the screen just went dead every time the note was placed on a flat surface. very annoying issue.
I was forced to downgrade my software just to get it working right again. the thread regarding this issue can be found here:

I just bought my 80 G9. Before I start rooting and romming and warranty voiding I thought I should ask in case these are defects:
In landscape mode, is it normal for the viewing angle to be better if the tablet pointed down instead of up? In other words, if I have the screen down on a table and I'm looking at roughly a 45 degree angle 18" away, it's not good. Yet if I prop it up almost vertical in the same place, 18" away, below my line of site, it looks amazing. Head-on it looks kind of ok, but videos and dark images get washed out. (And using it in portrait is odd too - the screen looks good if I tilt it to the left. Otherwise, the screen looks different to each eye).
The second thing I experienced is, there seems to be a touch dead zone in the top middle of the screen, right where the X's are in Chrome for a second or third tab (it takes about 5 taps to finally get one to land on the X). I haven't found any other dead areas.
If both of these are common issues I can live with them.

Do you have a 80G9? Its viewing angles seem to suck
The 2nd issue I have as well, it appeared more in ics so I'm hoping its a software issue and will be fixed soon

Yes, 80 G9.
I'm quickly getting used to the angle.
As for the touch, I ran a drawing program and sure enough there's an 8th inch margin around the whole screen where touching is difficult.
Hi,
i've got the same thing on my 80G9.
After a screen calibration and after the last update, the touchscreen is ok.
The viewing angle is very bad on this tablet in landscape. Try to do a 180° rotation. I only find this solution to watch correctly
Its designed to be optimally viewed using the stand so that's probably why the viewing angle sucks flat and Straight.
I think the dead area is not a dead area its just chrome takes a while to respond due to its huge memory requirements with tabs.
As for voiding the warranty : If you use custom roms from here (XDA) and NOT Official then your device won't be watermarked and won't void the warranty. Just remember to total factory reset/wipe and remove SDE Menu system before you ship it back if it needs a repair.

I installed multitouch visual test from the market, and there was a definite dead zone. The taps would be extremely accurate up until you reached 1/8-1/4 from the edge, and suddenly nine out of ten taps would land on the very edge. Tapping on chrome tab buttons was merely a symptom.
So I returned the G9 and exchanged it (I had drove 2 hours to a store to buy it in the first place, and luckily found an excuse to go back within the 14 day return period). I exchanged it, and tested it on the spot. The accuracy of the edges was much better. I'd say nine out of ten taps near the edges were within 5 pixels (whereas in the center they were dead on). Not quite a scientific test, but definitely noticeably better. And tapping on things near the edge like chrome tabs worked 9/10 times.
That was yesterday. I got home, started playing with it, turned the tablet to rotate it, and no rotate. I know rotation worked earlier in the day while I was testing it - it had rotated while in my lap at an almost flat angle. Still I double checked the rotation settings, did a factory reset, upgraded to stock 4.0.6. It's still stuck in landscape mode.
So I'm out. I'll find another excuse to drive 2 hours each way back to the store sometime in the next 2 weeks, and probably exchange it for something else (with any luck the nexus will be out).
It's too bad too. I really liked it. The price was phenominal, the hardware design straightforward, the os non-bloated, etc. From what I read there aren't a lot of problems with the hardware. I just have dumb luck I guess.

I got two A80S tablets and no problems with touchscreen here.
Just to inform you about some features of ICS:
Have a look in the settings...
- Developer options
- User Interface
- Show touches
After activating this option a light spot is shown after touching the screen.
No need for an external tool to check the accuracy of your touchscreen .

Thanks! This certainly won't be my last ICS device, so that's good to know!
Hello, I'm using the samsung 8pi stylus (ET-S200EBEG), that is quite popular on these forums. It works great, for the most part, no issues with offset or anything, however sometimes when writing a straight line will look jittery and squiggly. I have heard that this may be from the pen losing connection for a brief instant. It's not overtly terrible but definitely no where near as good as the default stylus. It's most apparent when trying to write certain letters such as a capital E, the lines wont be straight but instead will look quite jittery. Has anyone else experienced this problem or know of a solution? Thank you!
I've never personally experienced issues with the two I have, but you could try popping off the button with a razor blade, under it there are two flat head slots, those are potentiometers. With the pen tip facing left use a flat head or a razor to turn the left one, I don't know what the right one does. The left one controls sensitivity, so if you turn it to the left (counter clockwise) you increase its sensitivity, and the opposite, clockwise. Hope that helps. I'd recommend trying to increase it first.
