This is getting kind of ridiculous - LG Optimus L9 P760, P765, P768, P769

I am at the verge of tears, i am frustrated... to say the least.. this is my story:
Last year i bought 2 LG P768 phones, one for me, one for my wife. I decided to root and update mine, i did it with this thread right here and after hours of work and bricking my phone one i did it.. it was like 2 hours of work.. but the thread was explained for noobs like me, which was super cool because even where i was failing the OP explained what other stuff i could do!, problem is my wife wants to upgrade her phone now, and apparently that thread is too old, so, it redirects me to another thread, now, the other thread says how to root without a pc and stuff like that, i have two computer so it doesn't matter if i need a pc or not, then it gets tricky, it ROOTS but doesn't upgrade the software...when i want to upgrade the software it says i have to unlock bootloader, to unlock bootloader i have to flash the cwm and to flash cwm i have to download it, the problem is, no thread says how to flash the cwm for lp p768, ok, not a problem i google it, i flash the cwm, then when i try to update the software it says
Factory Reset/Wipe Data
Format System
Format Dalvik Cache
Install ROM
Install Gapps
Reboot
Profit
.. now.. im not a noob in computer and/or phones.. but i hate it when they cant be more specific or give instructions or AT LEAST point out to a thread that explain how to... i bricked the phone 3 different times in 3 different ways.. now.. after literally 72 hours of trying... i am done with this,,, i only rooted the phone which apparently is the easiest thing to do, im not complaining about the devs, its cool that they are doing this stuff for us, im just saying that some tutorials should be more user friendly, because for noobs like me, is a pain in the ass to do squat.. oh and i tried to do the update with the method i used with my phone last year and apparently the software is not compatible anymore... i have no idea why... i cannot update the software from 10a to 20a at least...
again.. THIS IS NOT A COMPLAINT AGAINST DEVS i thank them for their work.. but if any one of you guys managed to do it, please contribute with a step by step guide.. or at least let us know WHAT SHOULD WE DO FIRST! i have no idea if i should unlock bl or flash or root or update first.. ... thank you

Format System
Format Dalvik Cache
Install ROM
Install Gapps
Reboot)
Have fun. Still dont get it? Read more. Still dont get it? Read again. Still dont get it? PM me or anyone else or post in this thread again with What EXACTLY u want? Not just bricked bricked and bricked again, now cant update? What to do? bootloader? Root? ROM? I really didnt understand what you wanted...

[Q] 2.2.1 - complications on downgrade and root.

Phone: LG P500h - ANDROID v 2.2.1 buildnumber FRG83.
Country: Brazil
Anyway, what I know is that i have to downgrade it to 2.2 in order to be able to root. I've looked through a bunch of tutorials on a bunch of websites but there are a few questions i have about the process that isn't answered anywhere i've looked.
Apparently downgrading requires me to get a stock ROM from LG, there is a topic here for that but it does not have the right ROM for my country, i tried a couple codes but they all got me 404.
Can I just flash any standard ROM from, US maybe, will it work?
And if yes, how do I flash it? Apparently you can do that by booting into recovery mode, but to get there you need it to be rooted which I can't do.
I've read about KDZ and downloaded that but... it crashes a lot in my PC (whenever i try the Read Device) it gives me error and closes the program (windows program not responding dialog).
I'm afraid it might crash in the middle of it if i try flashing and that would brick my device.
Is there a simple way to flash a new ROM? Is that the first thing I have to do in order to get a custom ROM say Ubuntdroid? It says I need a new recovery... but for that I need to downgrade first? It's a lot to do... and I don't really get the order in which I should do it all in...
Can somebody post me a little "do this, then do that, then finally do that" so that I can understand it all finally?
Thanks in advance, and sorry for long post, was trying to be as informative as possible.
This shows what happens when I try reading the phone on KDZ... also a little part showing that I got my device to be recognized by windows...
also disabled the LGE modem on device manager, read that if I don't it'll get bricked.
Well it won't let me link the image so... just paste the name together.

1. Find a suitable v2.2 stock ROM for flashing (link)
2. Use KDZ to flash it (I am not aware of another tool capable of doing that). Try doing that on a PC running Windows XP (important - that's where you're stuck now and I guess you're using Windows 7).
3. Root your phone - search for "z4root" on Market, install it.
4. Install Custom recovery, which will replace your current (stock) recovery mode (link - you may need to create an account on another forum in order to download).
5. Using Custom recovery you can now install any custom ROM and create nandroid backups to restore your phone to a certain (working) state.
You will have to use KDZ again if you ever want to flash a stock ROM, also losing the custom recovery. But you will have no reason to do that, except if you need to take your phone to some warranty repairs.
Good luck!
NEW PROBLEM: About step 1... i finally found a way to get my country's rom, but... it's.. the same thats on my device right now, it says V10a_02 and thats the same on my phone (the kdz read phone tells me that) so... won't I just be flashing the same 2.2.1 again?
http://csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/swdata/WEBSW/LGP500H/ABRABK/V10A_02/V10A_02.kdz <---- the rom the topic tells me to get.
How do I know what version of android is in that rom? and if i can't, can you link me to a rom that does?
I found one from another country that the guy said is 2.2... but... will it work if i flash that one? does it HAVE to be for my country? also my model is p500h (the h) is it different from the p500 (different as in flashing p500 without h roms on it will kill it?)
As for flashing it...
I think maybe a computer with win xp will do the trick for kdz.
i've found this post today:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=944881
is it better to use that than kdz? theres no replies on topic saying "hey it worked" so i'm a little worried, but apart from a few errors it seems to work on my win 7....
i guess the reply would be "i only know kdz, do it with kdz" but i thought i might ask...
Indeed, I have not tried that method and therefore I can't recommend it. At least KDZ is successfully tested. If you are patient enough to wait for some replies either here or in that topic, you may find out if it works. I would recommend it only if you have no other choice, like if you're unable to try KDZ on an XP machine.
In the mean time, I remembered that a newer version of Custom recovery is available (v1.2) - here. But you still need to download a file and read the tutorial from that other forum I mentioned in the previous post.
what about the first part of the post? i think i might have added that after you replied i don't know... asking about the rom i found if it isn't the same i have on my phone. and asking if i can just add another country's one...

First backup your data, then download a factory ROM, it doesn't matter which version u download, what matters is the version. Make sure that it's 2.2 and not 2.2.1 or 2.2.2. Follow all the below steps without skippin any, no matter how simple or stupid they are.
Link for shipped ROM - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=865479
Now download KDZ updater and uncompress it
http://www.4shared.com/file/UleS4dP3/KDZ_FW_UPD_EN.html
Install msxml.msi from the uncompressed directory
Charge your battery to almost full state (I'm not sure, but it can be reason if phone doesn't start)
Turn phone off somehow (remove battery etc.)
Install drivers properly
Get rid of all usb drivers like Nokia, microsoft visual ++ run time environments
Install the LG drivers by selecting the update manager from the lg site
Disable LGE Virtual Modem. In your Windows operating system, go to Control Panel > System > Hardware > Device Manager > Modems > Right click on LGE Virtual Modem and click Disable.
Press and keep pressed "Volume up"+"Return" and connect USB cable to phone
Yellow screen with text emergency mode should appeared
Shake the handset (I know, it sounds ... strange, but it helps for ones, so... why don't try it?) UPDATE: Read some quotes on bottom.
Run KDZ_FW_UPD.exe (Has administrator).
Select Type : 3GQCT (I have one report that CDMA mod works too)
Select PhoneMode : DIAG (in case of fail try EMERGENCY, and as last chance use CS_EMERGENCY)
I Recommend do not switch phone off. There was some people, which done it and after they was not be able to turn it on again. If flashing failed, just select some another mode and try it again, again, try shake/connect disconnect, again, again....
In KDZ file : Choose the ROM file you downloaded in the first step
Press Launch software update
Shake the handset (I know, it sounds ... strange, but it helps for ones, so... why don't try it?) UPDATE: Read some quotes on bottom.
Now Root it via Z4root - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=833953
Then install custom recovery - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=844483
Then download n flash any ROM of your choice, I wud sugget install Void or LOL.
Edit :- By the time I replied, many have already replied. Anyways you can check my reply too :-D
Mithun.
"it doesn't matter which version u download, what matters is the version."
does that mean it doesn't matter what country or operator the rom is for, as long as it is android version 2.2?
i have one from portugal (not my country) and that one is made for P500 mine is P500H... if that makes a difference i don't know, but i do know that rom is android 2.2. can i flash that one?
i also have one that i got from that topic following the instructions of putting my serial number, it linked me to a rom V10A_02... on KDZ when i try to read my device it says i have V10A_02 too. isn't that the same one i have now? with android 2.2.1? if it is it's very pointless to flash the same rom already in it.
any way to check?
because that is my last doubt ;p

Yes.... you can choose any country. I tried the Australian version. Use the below one http://csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/swdata/WEBSW/LGP500/AAUSBK/V10a_00/V10A_00.kdz

As far as my knowledge goes, the LG P500h you have is the same phone as the P500, only branded for Telus. The hardware should be identical, therefore you may use any ROM designed for the P500 family.
The only thing you may miss if you install a ROM not customized for a Brasil (or South America) network operator is the internet acces point name, thus rendering your phone unable to acces the internet trough its data service connection, but only trough WiFi. Nevertheless, the phone's APN can be configured manually, all you need are the correct settings from your mobile operator and you're good to go.
Ok since you guys told me i can go ahead and flash any country ROM i just did and now my device burst into flames and then the flames consumed my apartment.
ok, not. it worked too well actually, i did the kdz procedure on my win 7 anyway, despite the errors when reading device info, and it took like, 1 minute, rebooted, took like 2 minutes on the android screen then it came back, with all my data still there... i thought it didn't do anything but... its now version 2.2
i tried z4root, worked ... got the superuser app and.... i'm happy ^^ thaaaanks!
anyway about the custom recovery thing..
i'm going to install the one in that post you gave me...
but i read something about the best one being clockwork something...
shouldn't i go ahead and install that one?
or can i do everything i need with this one you guys linked?

Glad that it worked Install the Amon_RA's recovery!!! Many ROM's for OO won't support clock work I suppose. Amon RA's recovery is neat, I've been using that from the time I had an HTC tattoo.

You can do anything you need with ThunderG. Now that version 1.2 supports backup and restore of ext4 partitons (a feature you don't need if you don't plan on installing a custom ROM... but you will, eventually ), it is complete.
Moreover, in ClockworkMod's first topic says: "This recovery will not allow you to flash every ZIP file". ThunderG does, if you choose to allow flashing of unsigned zip files. Sometimes this is useful.
Peeeeeerfect
Recovery installed, LOL ROM installed, all fast smooth and error-free.
no more screen touch lag, it's soooooo much faster now, overclocked, i have yet to test my emulators but i can only guess they're gonna be at least 150% better lol.
thank you all very much for taking the time to help me ^^
ONE LAST QUESTION: I PLAN ON BUYING A NEW SD CARD, JUST PLUG IT IN AND IT'LL FORMAT THEN CREATE THE NEEDED FILES THEN I INSTALL STUFF BACK ON IT, SIMPLE AS THAT?
Simple as that =D
Although there are some criteria with the sd card or you'll get unmounting problems.
Use a class 4 or higher card
format with fat32
I've never officially tried this method but its apparently supposed to help
allocation unit size: 64kb when you're formatting

[Q] Rooting my 2.3.3 optimus one to mik's crom

Hi, i am new in this forum so I may be like the noob you guys talked about in the first video, also i am not american so sorry for my english.
Yesterday i decided to play around with my phone, an optimus one with official rom froyo. I rooted it and then unrooted it because i realized that the official gingerbread room was out. After a few unsuccesful attempts of updating it from kdz (emergency mode, unplugged, took off battery, almost crying for my phone) when I turned it on it was okay, running gingerbread 2.3.3
I downloaded the rom from this website http://androidve.com/2011/05/como-instalar-software-original-en-lg-optimus-one-kdz-oficial-digitel-en-exclusiva/ and I thought everything was fine until the moment i realized that it wasn't what i expected. I wanted to install this rom because of a video I saw in youtube and i followed the link and it took me http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=946354. I read the thread and some of its post and decided that i want that rom.
Now, i have gingerbread and i know it can be rooted in a way i dont know anything about, i want to learn it. But my question is... If i already have gingerbread, do i need to downgrade to froyo to install the cROM of mik? or can i do it directly from a rooted gingerbread? if it is possible, can you please guide me on how to do it or give me a tutorial? I already looked for them and actually found some of them but because of the incidente of the last day i am scared of trying this stuff alone and i would really aprreciate your advice.
Thank you. (Sorry for the essay :S)
There are already threads on how to do this. Also if you are to flash mik's rom then you have to flash old baseband since you have official gingy.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1142105
After rooting to install a custom rom download rom manager from the market, choose rom from sd card, then choose backup rom and wipe data and cache. Then flash all neccessary zips you need after install.

thanks for answering.
In adb (this means in cdm/total commander mentioned in Link 1 at "How to Use ADB"):
adb devices
adb shell
echo 1 > /data/local/lge_adb.conf
After that open SuperOneClick and root using pneuter. Reboot phone and update Superuser from Market.

Ill follow that, but where can i get superoneclick and pneuter?
I am guessing that to flash is to install, how do i do that? like an app from the sd?

Super1 click:

Psneuter is just the method process to root(select in super1 click)
To flash things go to rom manager and choose flash clockworkmod recovery. After that any thing you need to flash can be done easily in recovery.

i ve done it and its all perfect except for the fact that i dont have service could you please help me, i had read something about updating radios and some stuff but i dont know what that thing is, i am wondering if that has something to do with the vpn.
Please help me
You need to flash new baseband patch here:
http://www.multiupload.com/R9CEDO2HS9
Put zip on sdcard then go to rom manager and select boot into recovery
In recovery select install zip from sdcard, select the baseband fix and choose yes to install.

Man almost everyone on this site is rooted.... im just to scared of bricking my phone!
I was scared too, but after a few near-brick experiences i decided to give it a try. I even decided to go back to gingerbread with root because i wasnt able to call and all that stuff, and i was really freaked out when i was looking for a way to go back because my questions was not completely answered and i felt insecure. So i decided to give up for a while and then i realized i had made a backup from my ''gingy'' with the rom manager, and i thought it would restore my data and all that stuff but it actually took me back to gingerbread which was a relief for me.
Now that infiniterisen gave me the answer to my signal/service issue, i might try to do it again, because even though i was really scared while checking that i had no service, my android looked really cool and was smooth as baby skin
I cannot tell you to try to root it because if something goes wrong you would be completely free to blame me and because i am also new to this scene, but it is really cool and i personally like to try new stuff (even though i may cry if my O1 gets bircked)

Root/Unlock Xperia Neo (MT15i)

Hello,
Before you say "use search" function read what I have to say
I have an Xperia Neo for about 1 year but I didn't need to root it or anything, I was happy the way it was, I only did one update since I got it, minus the ICS 4.0.4 update from Sony. But after this updated, I have started to get really annoyed by the bloatware that the firmware comes pre-installed with, seems to me they put on even more stuff with every update, stuff that I really don't use.
So....I decided to root/unlock my phone but I don't have the slightest idea where to begin. I know that I will use flashtool and I already have that, but besides that I have no idea what I need. I've browsed these forums for the past day and I didn't stumble on anything that could help my situation (or lack of knowledge how some might call it).
I also know that I will need to use a "custom" firmware but I'm having a bit of trouble wrapping my head around these facts:
Do I need JUST the firmware?
Do I also need a ROM?
Do I also need a kernel?!
Whats up with these, I mean, I know what a kernel and a ROM and a firmware is, but what exactly do I need to root my phone and what do I have to do? Also, unlocking the bootloader?
Sometimes I wish there's someone out there that compiles a damn guide about these things, something detailed, explaining why he does what he does....or maybe I didn't search enough?
Anyway....any volunteers?
Erm, I will go with "you didn't search good enough" ....and now you can shoot me
Did you notice sticky thread in general section, which is about rooting ICS? If not, I will say you didn't search good enough.
Did you noticed sticky thread in Neo V dev section(yeah, mostly(99%) Neo and Neo V are same)? In one of the sticky thread you have compiled dame guide about these things If not..........
I'm not sure,so I won't blame you for this one but I believe in one of those few sticky threads there is also link to one thread/guide in Arc section, which is also compiled dame guide about these things
Did I miss anything?
Yep, I noticed all those threads, but somehow you missed the point of my thread.
First of all, the sticky thread about rooting ICS in the Neo General Forum is addressed to people who have done this BEFORE, and not people who have no idea where to begin or what do they need.
Second, If I don't know what I need to be able to root my phone safely, why the hell would I even bother looking at other phones? Even if they are the same. That would only increase the chances of me burning the phone because I have no experience with this.
Third, most of the guides I found, are either outdated or refer to specific stuff. I can't believe that Android is so "complicated" to root/unlock or whatever you wanna call it. I owned an iPhone once and it was very easy to unlock and jailbreak.....in like 1 click.
But the problem here is most likely the number of devices that run Android, and that's whats making it harder....
So I'm going to ask again:
What the hell do I need to be able to get this started?
Except flashtool.
What do I need to know? Do I need to have an unlocked bootloader?
And somehow you also missed my point.
Rooting android is mostly 1 click thing. BUT, sometime we need to mess a bit to get it root-ed. I didn't have much play with iPhone, but I'm pretty sure not everything was 1 click, so..
Now we get to one point, you say people who have no idea where to begin, I say read. Read before you start messing with something. I know you hate me now for that, but hey, I did the same thing. I read few days before I get a grip around all android things.
But actually, all you need to know is how to flash kernel in flashtool(actually even simplier, how to flash .ftf file), and how to run .bat file which will do everything.
Let's start with flashtool, in main thread, which you supposed to find by now, there is BIG tutorial how to use flashtool and how to flash with it.
In sticky thread in general section, you even have prepared .ftf files with kernels. So that's a no-brainer
.bat file, I really hope everything is clear about that..
About your questions, you need phone, PC, flashtool, few .ftf's(which can be found in tutorial), tutorial and that's it
It's not hard, aprox. xxxx people done it so far. I doubt they all were Android guru's
About bootloader, you don't need to unlock it just to root your phone. But in the case you would have unlocked BL, things would be easier, a bit.
Now on the job, follow tutorials and ask when you stuck somewhere.
Alright. I'll get on it.
Be back with updates.
Right, first try, managed to unlock the bootloader, root the phone, but messed up at flashing a custom ROM.
I tried installing this ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1518563
It was only when the install finished when I noticed that the ROM had been discontinued.
My Android version was indeed 4.0.4. but I must have ticked something wrong, somewhere.
At the moment the phone is stuck at the SONY logo without the possibility of getting into CWM.
I have no idea what to do next, but my guess is, start the phone in fastboot and flash back to stock? But I don't know how to do that.
I'm thinking to try the latest Kormatoes ROM and Kernel but he doesn't post any installation instructions :/

Fixed.
Used "fastboot" to flash a new kernel that had CWM on. Got into CWM but couldn't mount the SD card so I used
"adb push" while in recovery to transfer new ROM to sdcard, then installed the new rom and its over. After nearly 5 hours. lol

OX+ need help flashing.

Ok, you know, today I got my phone, I had been waiting forever, I got it and within 2 hours I screwed it up. I have followed and followed many forums and posts on how to fix this, and I am just.. lost. So please i need your help, I am seriously stressing out, and I know I shouldnt, but this is my first android phone. I am shot right now.
I had unlocked the bootloader, and then I tried to root it, then it rebooted and went into bootloop mode or whatever it is.
I still cannot figure out how to use this Hasoons2000's OX+ AIO kit. So I am just leaving it alone.
Ok the PC doesn't recognize it as a storage device, but the fastboot does recognize it, as I have executed a few commands, like reboot or something, just to test that it works.
My phone is ATT but I am in Russia so there is no sending this anywheres. All I want to do is reboot the OS and have it work again, I dont care what mod or stock rom it is, I just really need some direction here.
I know something about RUU, ATT RUU, Fastboot, some other stuff, I have like 5 pages on XDA pulled up and I cant figure this out.
What is the CMW or TWRP or whatever it is called? How do I flash a zip or an img to the phone? I really just want my phone on again.
Yes Ive done stupid noob stuff, but you learn. So please I am kindly asking for any assistance,
No need to stress. Its fairly hard to brick your phone, good way to learn quick also is to screw with it.
Just need the right guide and I think this will help you since u have fastboot access hopefully. Its a pain rebuiling so read everything so u only have to do it once.
Remember these guides are for different phones so don't use the ruu or recovery links, user my links below.
Your phone is:
AT&T(Evitare)
This guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=30863908
Or this guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=27301573
This is for another phone so you need to choose an ATT ruu from here for step 1:
Your phone is a HTC One X+ for AT&T(Evitare)*
http://www.androidfiles.org/ruu/?developer=EvitaRE
More info here for custom recoveries etc which is cwm and twrp for deploying roms, backing up your current installed Rom and general tools for fixing or enhancing your phone, displayed prior to your phone booting into android:

thank you very much I really appreciate your help. I finally figured out the ruu.exe thing, I didnt know they had to be the same numbers, ex 1.15.xxx.xx or whatever.
You see what happened originally was that I unlocked the bootloader, easy pie, but I tried to root it and that is when it started looping. Maybe I didnt understand something, but I seemed to have messed up right there.
Is there really any reason to root? I mean yeah there is super user, but doesnt bootloader help with that a bit? I know BL is for flashing custom roms and all.
May I ask how to flash a custom rom? I really want all of this ATT stuff off of my phone, I really dislike it.
Yes I know I can search, here, google etc. And maybe I should, but I end up getting so many different results, and here and there, and this and that. It really is just easier to talk to one single person who knows what they are doing. So if you could help me, I would again extend my appreciation.
Also I have the android revolution for ox+, and I dont know if it is.. you know.. THE BEST or not. Dont know what to do.
And yes, you live and learn, took me forever with iphones, then I realized hacking and roms and stuff were completely different from iphone. So new game new story.

[Q] I know this is dumb, but how do i get a new rom??

Prolly been asked numerous times but cant seem to find anything on it. I spent about 5 hours today just rooting my phone because instructions are never clear and i had to do trial and error before i finally got it, so i am by no means an expert!
I have a verizon lg g2 and am wanting to put the malladus 1.2.2 rom on it but have absolutely no clue how!
Directions say flash rom, but i have no clue what that even means. I have done this back in the day 3 times to my original galaxy s and got it but the directions were clear.
do i have to get e recovery program? i read something about that and also a clockworkmod or something?
So if someone could or would have the patience to explain to me step by step what needs done, i would GREATLY appreciate it. Like i said, all i have done is rooted it and i downloaded the malladus 1.2.2, the lg apps, and the gapps that it said i needed but dont know where to go from there.

well thanks to all your help or lack there of, i now have a bricked phone because no one wants to tell me anything or help. Thanks
Not everyone here has a Verizon LG G2, You should have come to the IRC and directed your questions there first and been more patient if you're unfamiliar with these sort of things. Your bricked phone is no ones fault but your own, sorry.

You're welcome. You asked for help, chose not to wait so you went ahead and did it - and failed. Yes, that's our fault. You shouldn't do things you have NO clue about. The first thing you should do is to READ. If you can't find the things you need, then SEARCH. There are over 5 million registred users here, so your questions have most likely been asked several times before, i.e they are here and you can search for them.

Dude, this is not a user support forum and no one is sitting around waiting for someone like yourself to ask questions that can only be answered by doing research that you should be doing yourself. You and only you are responsible if you bricked your device.
If you want help, your chances are higher if you post in your device specific forum, provide enough detail for people to know exactly what you did so they can provide accurate advice, and then be patient and wait for as long as it takes. Or you could do your own research and figure it out.
Funny, i didnt brick my phone, just was curious as to how many people would decide to talk if it meant they could get rude with me lol
And i posted where i thought i was supposed to, i couldnt find my phones forum. Sorry, and i DID read, i have been reading non stop, the advice just isnt working.
I tried flashify after reading that it worked (on here) and it said it did but after reboot i just get a dead droid and have to hold down vulume key and power to get it back on and recovery or download startup dont work now!
I am not impatient and i understsand im not the center of everything, just figured someone could chime in with some advice, but i guess its only worth typing if you have something unhelpful to say!
