Fisrt let me say thank you to all who contribute! Two weeks ago I had no clue this info was available for us common folk. I was given a Nook Tablet for Christmas, researched it's capabilities and found xda. I did successfully root it(thanks to Indirect and the grace of God).It worked majically but I powered down and upon restart I have lost ability to access android market, android keyboard, or TitaniumB Pro. Any help at all would be appriciated greatly!

That most likely means that you got the upgrade to 1.4.1 so you lost root and sideloading. You'll have to go back to stock 1.4.0 then root and block that OTA as much as you can again.

Well that blows lol, I tried to do the ota block with TB, that;s why I paid for it but I guess I didn't do it all the way. I went thru 3 different computors to get the root and ended up having to do it at work so i guess I'll go thru that process again and see what happens. Thank you for your input. I have alot alot to do today but when I get to it I'll relay the outcome.
And btw, all of you here at XDA are AWESOME!
Be sure to check to make sure it is at version 1.4.1 before doing a downgrade.
Right now it still says "unknown" as if it's rooted, does that mean it still is?
Veronica, I know its been a long tike since we used this thread. I gave up on my nook for awhile when I got my new phone but I picked it back up in time to get your CM7 ics ribbon mod. Its been over a month since I did it and its preformed flawlessly! Very pleased and content with it so wanted to say thank you very much, excellent work!

Is it possible to access my internal SD card for storage? I've looked everywhere to find a way to use it but can't find anything so now when I go to download games it won't due to insufficient space. I thought this rom was allowing free access to that sdcard but i could be wrong. Thx!

Okay so I was browsing my phone and happened to run across the System state saying "Modified"
The issue I am having is I have never even downloaded a rooting app. The only thing close to root I have used is called Helium, which does not require root, but it can backup/restore apps+data.
I am slightly worried that if I have to send my phone in for some reason they will see this and say I have messed with the system, although I have not in the first place.
Has anyone else encountered this random issue? Other than that this phone is quite a good phone and I'm pleased with it greatly.
Did you......root your phone?

Let me grab a non-rooted G3 here in a few and check. I don't know that they dont all say that. Get back to you shortly. Mine also says this; however, I did root and unlock mine.

Did you fully read his post before replying? I suppose my question is as rhetorical as yours...
My interpretation was that he has not installed one rooting app. One was left to assume he had rooted the phone or did not have a rooted phone which was the basis of my question. And yes I did read his post to answer your question. I would not leave you to assume I did from my response.

no big deal that it says that. move along
If you go to the Verizon store and look at the G3's they have on display, they all say "modified" instead of "official" however when I received my phone it said "official" until I rooted it.

Just flash it back to stock if you have any issues. May as well root now anyway. G3 tweak box is amazing!
Sorry for late reply, at work so hard to get on atm.
I have not touched a single rooting app to this phone since I bought it new the day they came out. I have thought about rooting it, but I am touchy when it comes to phones that are in warrenty.
Although I might just say heck with it and actually root it anyways since it's saying modified, my main concern was why it was already saying it was modified when I hadn't touched it yet. I have experience rooting/restoring phones/tablets ever since the mesmerize/desire/fascinate ages so it shouldn't be too hard
I doubt this has anything to do with it, but when it turns on from a restart/shutdown one of the verizon apps "vzrwsservice" or something like that says it has crashed and then goes away until i restart again.
Thanks for you replies though, if someone does come up with a phone that isn't rooted but says modified, I'd be interested to know so that we can figure what's causing this.
My unrooted Verizon g3 does not say modified. It says official.

Hypothetical.... lets say someone bought it, played with it and rooted it or botched a root and returned it. try root checker in app store. just saying. makes more sense then someone snuck in your bedroom and took it and rooted while you were sleeping and returned it.
Another hypothetical...
Could it switch to "modified" if one were not rooted but had disabled some of the bloat? Just a thought.

As of now, I cannot tell what it was to change it to modified, I went ahead and tried a reset through the settings and it kept the modified status, did a flash restore and it finally got rid of the modified and is now stating Official.
(To note that when it was in download mode it also stated modified before I flashed it with the ToT file.)
I did also find the reason for the verizon server to crash, which I cannot find the location of the thread elsewhere, but it is due to Google+ and one of verizons apps not being compatible with each other and eventually causing verizons app to crash. The only way so far to fix it is either downgrade google+ to stock, or disable the VerizonAvsService to stop the crash at boot.

I have disabled a bunch of bloat without root and it has not changed to modified.

I have verified for myself, that my Verizon LG G3 says "Modified" as well, yet it's a fact that I have never rooted or modified any of my system settings... I'm running Stock 6.0 Marshmallow... Go figure... Who knows with Verizon...

I believe this is a good phone, and think it would be a great phone if we could achieve root. I am not a Dev but I will be glad to help someone smarter than me to push this device in the right direction. Let's not let this one fall through the cracks.
Kingroot 4.95 causes brick. You have to go to recovery and do factory reset!!!
Thanks this is the only root I could get to work zte max N9521
It is a PC root from kingoroot if u can take out the super user app after u get it rooted u could try to install a different su binary file but I don't know how to do that yet so I'm stuck with a half rooted device....

I agree and I'm really surprised this phone hasn't gotten much more attention considering how nice it is. For what is a prepaid phone for many (via Boost), I can lay it down on the table next to my nice Oneplus One and honestly it holds its own for day to day use. Plus, it even has the rare microSD!
But, these Boost and ZTE people apparently have created the only damned unrootable device I personally have ever experienced. I mean, even my darn Nook readers are rooted. And I say unrootable because unlike others (even IOS) that may not be "this version" so we "wait".......apparenlty there has yet to be ANY version of this phone's build that can be rooted.
I'm so confused as to why since the "Kingroot" can get an apparent temporary root, but then for some reason the partitions are "read only" and some other similar phones take a command (makes sense, I'm still following) to first change to R/W, then use the temp root and install perm root like I have on every other device using either TWRP, stock recovery (whoops this phone they removed it), or let SuperSU try it. But, from the many hours I"ve spent trying to force the temp root to get R/W or even get a recovery running on it, it seems to me that the hangup is there is some special sauce in the way that the filesystem is locked and that is the key.
So, for any gurus reading, is it just that this phone isn't "popular" enough, or that it's just not in use in the scene? It sure seems there is always some part of the xda scene that touches every one of these devices even a tad, heck even my ancient crappy 1st gen Nook tablet still get help if I ask LOL.
I'm wondering how many would donate a few bucks if a dev would dedicate some cycles to finding a way to free this really nice ZTE Max+ N9521...I know I would!

Bump. How do we perhaps set up a bounty for this phone? I see multiple people have already said they would donate so how do we set up a bounty for root?
Has anyone come up with any way to kill the read-only on the zmax to be able to hold root?
Hey people, I'm having some issues with my K7 and I need some help figuring it out. I rooted it with KingRoot and I've basically removed 90% of the bloat as well as the stock messaging app and LG home and most other LG apps. I'm currently running Google launcher and messenger and a few other Xposed goodies. The problem I'm having is I'm having to restart my phone two to three times daily simply because it slows down so much that it becomes unusable. I can't figure out why. I know it's not from removing bloat and stock apps because it was doing this before, even before I rooted it. Something is causing my device to slow down so bad that it becomes unusable. I feel I may have a memory leak somewhere, any advice? Anyone experiencing the same issues on their K7?
Sent from my LGMS330 using XDA-Developers mobile app
After reading the TWRP K7 thread I removed KingRoot and used kingoroot to re root my device and then the supersume 6.7 method and then installed SuperSU and everything seems to be going smooth, now we wait to see what happens lol.

Lol this is now a couple months old and in the android world that is a lifetime... I just got this phone and I really like it even more than the lg Leon... But I did have to use the Kyocera hydrowave omg what a waste but the hydrolife is very decent once rooted despite that it's totally stuck with android 4.3!! Anyway back on topic.
I used KingRoot since my monitor is broken and my husband is such an ass bout his laptop lol!! I can't deal with an unrooted device... I want to avoid any issues since I am outta phone options if I screw up this one do you remember which version you used. So far I'm okay except my inexperience with some things I used Lucky Patcher and then had an issue with it when I clicked patch android and then came to the forums here after a factory reset... I won't use lucky patcher again my bad I didn't really realize it was stealing now I know and I don't need the hassle of that drama and karma!! I do have an issue that maybe I can get answered in this thread... I rooted with KingRoot, obviously, somehow it got set as a system app... I may have done that I changed a lot of apps to system apps. I had no choice but to do a factory reset cuz I had a bunch of dialogs repeatedly popping up and I was terrified of bricking it if I rebooted so I got it to factory reset. Everything is fine I started it as a new device to avoid the lucky patcher issues repeating and when it was done booting KingRoot popped up and without realizing that was weird, which I think it is I rooted it. I was going through my apps and files and I have KingRoot as a system app but king master or whatever it is isn't anywhere it was a separate app and now there's just an empty folder... I believe it's actually an empty kingmaster folder on my sd card which as I'm typing... Shouldn't it be on the internal memory?? Ohhhh boy I think I might be in trouble maybe not lmfao crap I can't remember if I rebooted it after I integrated the Google app into the system!!
I'm really sorry if this is all jumbled and a hot mess my kid woke up shortly after I fell asleep last night and then I haven't been able to fall asleep and now I'm trying to nurse him while doing this and he keeps trying to smack my hand!!

So the only/main reason I want the phone is to be able to root, I been stuck with this galaxy s6 that cant be for over a year.. Every phone I have every had since the eris has been rooted.
I am getting extremely confused with what I am reading.
So the newer lg g3 cant be rooted or downgraded? Any sources for the older lg g3s that can be?
Was looking on ebay but every single phone has k in the model number in description...
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I guess one thing that would really help my search is to figure out when the K versions were released.... Anyone know ?
Thanks

I hate to say it, but the model K can only be rooted, from what I've read, by Kingroot. And that's a temporary root. When you reboot, you'll have to root again.
Because there is no way to downgrade to anything prior to Marshmallow (due to a firmware change apparently hence the K model number), you cannot use 10b tot, etc to downgrade.
Also, since this phone is 2 years old, no one is actively looking for an exploit on this. It isn't really worth it unfortunately, but that's how it is with all phones. Eventually, people move on from them because they are old. I will say this, I've been running on stock, unrooted for about a year now and it works just fine. I do run Greenify (I have the donated version), and it definitely also helps with battery life. So, even unrooted stock is pretty good on this phone. I've uninstalled as much of the bloatware (mostly the games) as possible. And for those applications that I cannot uninstall, I've disabled them where possible which can be done in the app manager.
But model K phones do not have the ability to be downgraded. There isn't anyway around this that I know of and believe me, people have tried.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/ver...ne-pcb-version-downgrade-marshmellow-t3430985
The details of the phone might just be the auto generated stuff ebay puts on there. I would ask the seller to look at the actual label under the battery. You could try swappa too, i just got a good Note 4 from a seller on there. Ebay is hard to dig through and find something good, lots of refurbished phones being sold as "new".
Thanks peeps learned some info I did not know.
I guess I am looking for root and recovery.(Mostly development stuff/being able to install roms) I am staying far away from the K version.
I been messaging people on ebay for the past 2 days.. 40 messages 5 replies :/
Ended up finding 2 without the k
