Galaxy 10.1 not rebooting, need help! - Galaxy Tab 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I have a problem with my tablet, I have looked and tried for several days and have not been able to get any real results.
To start with, my tab originally was running really slow. I thought I may have a virus, so I did a factory data reset. Once it tried rebooting, a warning come up that there was a missing file, I didn't have time to write it down. Anyway, it started to reboot, the boot screen comes up "Samsung GALAXY Tab 10.1" but that's as far as it gets. That's all it would do till it drains the battery down, can't even turn it off. I pressed the power and volume key to get into the selection screen to boot or download. I have tried several times to reload the recovery.tar.md5 through Odin3, it says everything works fine, doing this finally allows the battery to show up on the screen while it's charging. Now when I boot it it gets past the former screen and does the video sequence that ends with the SAMSUNG in the center of the screen and hangs there. It finally restarts and hangs on the first screen again. I have looked and looked, and can't seem to find what I need. I really need some guidance, please understand I need some help!
Thanks!

Well, after several more attempts I got it to completely boot up! left it on for a few minutes, got it all setup and onto the home screen. This was late last night, so I decided to shut it down (power off) and plug it in. Got up this morning and it is doing it again! Anyone have any thoughts? Could this be a problem with the processor or any other hardware parts?

Not really sure what's going on with your tab, but you can try to flash the full stock ROM from Odin. You can get it from www.sammobile.com.

I appreciate the suggestion, I already went to Samsung and got everything I could from there - updated drivers, But I did not see the ROM. I will take a look tonight when I get back home. Thanks for taking your time to reply!
I went to Samsung people in Best Buy, he pointed me to the Samsung Kies. He seemed to think it was hardware also. How would I tell if it is either? I am leaning towards hardware, because it did let me get in and set-up my accounts etc... then I powered off & the problem has reared it's ugly head when I tried to power it back on.

[STICKY THIS] Solution to Fix Any Brick

If your phone was bricked in any way, but still shows something on the screen when powered on or plugged in, try this.
1. Take out battery, put it back in. (to turn the phone fully off)
2. Don't turn it the phone on!
3. Plug the phone into your PC, do not hit the power button!
4. See if the phone shows anything on the screen
IF the phone screen does show the battery charger or something else on the screen after being plugged in without you hitting the power button, so far so good.
5. Now while it's on like this, hold the volume up and volume down buttons.
6. Hold the power button as well as the volume buttons until the screen goes black.
7. As soon as the screen goes black, let go of the power button! But DON'T let go of the volume buttons!
When done properly, this will always get you into Download mode. After that you should be able to use Odin to revert to stock, tar and instructions here:

This fixed my 'odd' bricks. Over and over again.
I'd say it's impossible to truly brick this phone.
I have been researching this most of the day, due to some testing I was doing, and the one thing I have come to realize is that this phone recovers well from "brick" it's not a true brick it's just scary. One of the posts I read, here on xda, said that unless the blue progress bar started advancing while using Odin, you can unplug, pull battery fairly safely.

Haha well that's exactly what happened to me. I flashed wrong with Odin and it failed halfway through, and I had no choice but to reboot the phone.
And when I did I got a truly odd screen. All I could see was a picture of a phone connected to an exclamation point connected to a laptop. That's it. Lol.
And I fixed it by doing this.
omg, i love you This totally fixed my problem XD
Everyone kept saying go to download mode, but no one ever said to "7. As soon as the screen goes black, let go of the power button! But DON'T let go of the volume buttons!"
super life saver... thanks alot
I actually did find someone else say to do that but it was out of luck as it was deeply buried. Don't remember where it was here lol
Its nice to have people who help us newbies

Yea, last night I was messing around with the latest lag fix, but it ending up causing a lot of FC's, so I had to revert to stock a few times. I tried to make it work using ext2 and ext3, but it still wasn't stable enough. I didn't enjoy the noticeable speed increase, but it wasn't worth it since launcher pro was one of the programs that was FCing.
Anyways, so after I gave up for the 3rd time, I flashed stock using ODIN and it got stuck. I left it there for awhile with no progress and the phone's screen actually just went completely black. I pulled the battery and got the weird cell phone pointing to computer icon. I almost crapped my pants at that point. Very scary moment since I had not seen that screen before.
A quick google search for "bricked Vibrant" led me to this thread and voila! My Vibrant is alive and well again.
Thanks a bunch.
PS: After reflashing stock that many times, I still find it strange that after a fresh flash, I still get a noticeable speed boost by wiping the phone through the privacy setting. Not sure if it's a placebo effect, but I swear it makes a noticeable difference every time.

Glad I could help!
And that's intersting. I'll make sure to wipe the privacy settings. I actually haven't ever wiped them yet.
No go for me.
I used the stupid partition tool in rom manager. partitioned the internal memory not the sd card.
Saw a few others did this, and this worked for them, either right away or after flashing eugene's froyo rom then reverting back, but that rom just hangs on cache.fsd or something like that.
Trying to repartition through odin, with no download files selected right now. It does not appear to be doing anything, just set pit file, then do not turn off target in odin.
Will leave it for a bit, maybe try to flash this again, i think the issue might be deeper for me though. need kernel and everything else.
I did that but my phone locked up and now all I get is a picture of a yellow cation sign next to a little phone and pc pic.. anything I can do at this point or??
tried going into recovery and download mode but it wont let me past that screen.
Thank you so much for this, I received a replacement set 2 days ago and was playing around the the phone and I bricked it, it thought it was frozen so I pulled the batter and it bricked.
I followed your instructions and it works like a charm. What I did find though is that i can't seem you use odin on a mac even with a virtual machine. I had to use an actual PC.

How do I know if my phone is being picked up by Odin or being flashed?
did the same thing the clockwork partition wiped my internal memory
F**k!
woop guess im going to tmobile in the a.m. and playin the whole
idk what happened it wont turn on
thank god for the 14 day return policy!
I ran into "brick mode" myself 2 nights ago and could not get my phone into download mode. Any possible combo of volume key up/down and power had no effect. Just that phone exclamation point pc icon slowly blinking in the center of the screen. I did finally get it into download mode but it wasn't using any of the previously mentioned methods, so I'll add one more to the growing list to try. This one worked for me after almost 4 hours of experimenting.
BTW....my phone would never display the battery charging image when powered off and plugged in. Just this same annoying image.
Pull the battery. Put it back in. Hold the just the volume down button. Do not hold the power button. Plug in either a wall charger or USB cable. The cable will power up the phone and voila. I was in the download screen.
I also highly recommend the stock ROM from the thread
"[ROM] OFFICIAL T-Mo Vibrant JFD ODIN/Nandroid Backup Images 7/29/10 (Tested/Working)" In Vibrant > Vibrant Android Development
I tried another ROM found out on the internet and ended up with a shell that crashed and restarted every 60 seconds.
For those running into Odin stuck on a message about verifying the file system, I had no luck when the phone used COM3. I suggest moving your USB cable into different ports on your PC. Each new port will "install" a new instance of the phone using different COM ports. COM5 and COM6 both worked as I was reflashing the day away yesterday.

Samsung Stratosphere won't turn on, stuck in boot loop, please help!

My Samsung Stratosphere turned itself off sometime and now is rebooting to the Samsung logo, and then turning back off, and rebooting (a couple times earlier it booted to the main android menu, but turned back off immediately afterwards) and when I plugged it into the charger it acts like it's charging and then turns off and acts like it's charging and over and over again, even when the battery indicates that it's at more than half full.
Does anyone know what's happening? (no custom ROMs or anything, it's all standard btw). I took the battery out and everything and it still does the same thing when I put it back. I tried to do a factory reset, but the recovery mode screen always jumps away when I try to activate it (I press both Vol+ and Vol-, recovery mode screen comes up but goes instantly, then the phone goes into a boot loop again).
Please help, thank you!
Bump!

Hi, I'd recommend sending the phone into warranty, add the phone isn't rooted, you can't do much.

Had same problem on 3 phones. This is a connection problem within the phone. Disassembly & cleaning contacts often helps for a while, but problem comes back. Bumping the phone on the side or top, often allows it to work properly, for a short while, and so does squeezing it, in certain places. Get a new one, since the problem will re-cur.

Please help

Hi, I currently own a samsung galaxy SIII for 4 years now.
But recently, it got stuck at the samsung logo and it wont turn on, the moment I put in the battery, the logo flashes every 3 seconds and thats it. I had sent it to repair, but they say that it is corroded with water, and is beyond repair. I only wanted to get the files, photos and notes out as they are really important to me. Is there ANY way to get it? Anything will do, as long as I could retrieve my files. Recovery mode is impossible as the screen came out for a bit, but it went back to the logo again. So when i press the volume up or down, nothing works. I tried connecting it to my computer, but it says error.
My phone is not usb debugging enabled, has no sd card, not rooted, and no backup. I really regretted not doing any of these. Please help me. Thank you for reading this.

S3 Reboot Issue

I'm afraid she's dead, Jim.
I've got the SCH 1535, Verizon version, 16 GB, and was running an older version of Cyanogenmod (10.something)
Phone when into the "Samsung display" loop last night. Removed the battery, and tried to boot into recovery mode.
Phone would vibrate when all three buttons were pushed... and then nothing. I'd hold it for several minutes, and it never kicked into the recovery mode.
When I'd release the buttons, it would vibrate and then reboot into the Samsung Display again.
On one occasion, it vibrated and flashed the Samsung logo and the blue text in the upper left corner- but then rebooted into the Samsung Display, where it stayed.
After a few hours, I then moved into trying to boot it into to Download mode. Same response... nada.
Now, it won't respond at all- won't power up, (seemingly) won't take a charge (plugged in, but no light indicated).... Bleh.
I've already ordered a replacement (was shopping for the N6P yesterday, maybe it knew?), but I'm just looking to see if there's a way to get into it long enough to grab some of my data that wasn't backed up or on my SD card.
Thoughts, oh wise Android wizards?
Its CM10.1 man. It might be that your s3 already got old and a part of its hardware suddenly fails (If you only installed CM10.1 and did not tweak the ROM after [i.e editing build.prop]). It's normally happening to a few I9300's everyday. It was yours that was chosen to be taken today.

Yup... good times.
What's interesting is that the computer "recognizes" it when it's plugged in (I get the comforting "ding" when it's connected), but other than that... nothing.

s6 edge stuck in artifacted boot loop

Hey everyone,
A couple months ago I woke up and unplugged my phone and turned it on, and it was stuck in a boot loop with an odd blue refraction in the screen. (see photos). It's a fully unlocked S6 edge (SM-G925F) bought from Credo mobile in mid 2015, and worked more or less seamlessly (no root) until that night. It wont respond to any bootup commands including force battery cutoff and recovery mode, but it will enter download mode with the screen artifacting still visible. I had to travel, so I just briefly ran Odin and installed fresh firmware, but I didn't see any difference and OEM lock was on, so i couldn't do much more. I just threw it in my bag and figured I'd work on it later, and just used the GR3 backup phone from work.
2 months later I finally got to take a look at it, and i'm stumped. At first glance i just thought it was bootloader/data corruption, but now I'm not so sure. Any ideas? dirty wall power maybe?
Thanks!
Ceu
---EDIT- Will post pictures if helpful, but the forums wont let me post links until i have 10 posts. Thanks again!----
Hi!
I know this is probably not the answer you were hoping for but I have the exact same problem and instead of opening a new, identical post, I thought I'd tag along here.
My S6 Edge worked fine this morning, did nothing unusual. Went to class, checked the time five minutes later and found my phone in a boot loop. I did not turn it off before, I didn't do anything besides put it face down on the table next to me. Recovery mode is not accessible, I can not turn it off. I used SmartSwitch (twice) and Odin (4 times, different versions) to install fresh firmware I downloaded from sammobile.com. I always get a "PASS" so it should've worked. But it doesn't. Boot loop stays, nothing I try seems to work. Can anyone help us? I do not want to buy a new phone just because this stupid thing is stuck in a random boot loop.
