Opinions / problems ?
Hey "tovarasi" :good:
Can you share your insight after using this phone for a while ? I was thinking to buy one. Any problems so far? Did you root and flash your device?
Is it easy to get back on stock?
I currently have HTC one Mini and after flashing a few roms I started having some call problems ...I've sent it to Vodafone, maybe they will be able to stock it back.
Anyway, how's the battery life ?
Despite of its bloatware, the LG G2 runs amazingly smooth and you can end up with around 5 to 6 hours screen on after 24 to 36 hours of usage
Romanian forums provides some confusion regarding its quality due to the fact that, you know, plenty of online markets sells phones as second hand, refurbished, returned and I'm afraid that some of them have had lots of previous owners, the policy is simple as stupid, use it and return it back if not satisfied... Crap
So, be careful from where you buy and a warranty should be provided as well
Good luck and thanks for visiting our thread

Thanks for the reply. I've read something about overheating battery/device and this is causing some flickering on the display. Have you experienced any of this ?
CEL is selling this for 1449 Ron http://www.cel.ro/telefoane-mobile/telefon-mobil-lg-g2-16gb-black-l/ seem to be a good price.
I would expect another 3-4 months, maybe the price drops but afraid I won't find it in stores. Hate how they are pushing bigger and bigger screens! I like it for the 3.000 battery and has a better chipset than HTC One at the same height and weight
No, never happened and here where I live it is quite hot, the phone battery running at 35 and cpu 50 all the time
But I've heard people having issues, mostly those second/third/fourth hand and those manufactured last year
Mine is from January, absolutely no problems and I flash roms almost every day
You can expect for the price to drop as from November especially when more devices will be out, nexus 6 that I'm waiting for and others, so may be cheaper but atm the price is decent and correct
The way LG made this 5.2 screen is amazing, the phone is well balanced and handy, I use it with the same feel as Nexus 4 that is 4.7 inches

First of all, NEVER let your phone reach less than 15% of battery and never let it charge overnight.
Li-Ion batteries have the longest life when charged between 30% to 80%.
Second, please delete this ethnic forum, it has no place on XDA.

First, you can't install a custom ROM without rooting
Because, to install a custom rom you need a custom recovery which can be installed only if you have root access
To root use ioroot25 if you have kk ROM and then install autorec which will gave you recovery, then, the fun begins
For remote control I think you need to check the company which produces Genius, if is not there then...

I think genius is genius... Isn't in the list

1. The device has been out for around 1 month, i.e. delivered to customers. It began to reach customers at the beginning of August and it was introduced on June 25.
2. Custom recovery is almost finished according to the latest posts.
3. We have root.
So I would say that it has progressed nicely, kindly remember that Sony rolled out the C6802 on a limited amount of markets, the wide release will be with the C6833 this month and that is when the ROM development kicks off.
So you are wrong, unfortunately. Expecting a lot of ROMs for a device that has been rolled out in a limited way, i.e. excluding Europe etc and that has been out for a month, mostly as an import is a bit naive. Usually, it takes a broad release before those things kicks off.
Also notice that the Ultra is a niche device unlike the Nexus 4 which has a lot of "mainstream appeal" due to its size and price. So comparing the Ultra with the N 4 and complaining is apples and pencils.
I knew that the Ultra had a limited rollout when I bought it and that the first step would be root and that development would start in September when the C6833 reaches customers and limited action initially - so I have not even considered another device.
It is necessary to understand what it means to buy a new device that is only available in a few markets.

The LTE model (perhaps the other models too, dunno) has not had its release yet in many countries. When I got my dads htc one in my hands there was no kernels, a few roms, no mods ..nothing fun. About a month later the forum got a few kernels and roms but the developers where there so I rooted the phone it with revone in Linux mint and installed insertcoin.
And WOW, I just checked out the htc one forum ...it is filled with threads for various roms and mods now! Don't worry, It's coming sooner or later for the Z ultra
I usually wait for a while before I get a device in order for the ROMs and kernels to appear but the Ultra with its unique screen and size made it too hard - I saw now that the first recovery that works seems to be posted over at Original Android Development.

You deserved use N4.
This phone just release HSPA+ edition start from 1/August. Until now only one month. And only few selected country is out. The LTE version wise is not even get release.
Which country you stay where this phone already release 3 months?
You keep your N4 fella.
We all wish you many happy years with it.
Yes it's slow. I bought htc butterfly s and xperia z ultra at the same time. (They announced at the same countries)
...but it's ok just because we already have a news about Cyanogen ! What can be more cooler than that !!!

you couldn't even afford it if your next choice is N4
Choosing between a 4.7" or a 6.44" device is odd, to put it mildly. To me, it isn't even a competition, the logical choice would be a Nexus 7 then.

I did not choose the N4 for its screen size or specs, i chose it because it allows me to flash custom roms and kernels. In singapore the LTE model is already released. Perhaps what you guys said is right, this thing has not yet seen a major worldwide release, ive seen the SZU in real life and its the best phone ever, im able to fit 2 S2s on it so perhaps in a few months when customs are available ill purchase one, but for now? Nah
Are you kidding?? LOL.. The official availability is September worldwide dude!

It's a snapdragon 800 device, and it's been a real pain in the ass the last couple of days to try and find a method to manually compile boot.img etc.
- We won't be able to start kernel development before I finished this (I probably have once I get a file I requested from Kali or bin4ry)
- second, setting up a device tree for a complete new board like MSM8974 which has changes from Qualcomm isn't easy!
Just have some patience and don't blame the devs, we are doing whatever we can to provide stock image with recovery etc at the moment
Dont warrant yourself because of such a fool. He'll be one of the idiots who blame you then why vou've spend the 2 mins for this post, and not for pushing your dev work forward.
They should stop whining, and do it better on their own or get the hell out of here.
Roms are not about clients, contracts and payed work, so for everybody it should be more then natural to cherish the efforts in it.
Keep up the good work, and don't feel the comments of useless retards as a judgement of your dev-work.
We are over $2300 for a bootloader unlock. I am curious is there anyone out there who has attempted any work on this goal yet?

Samsung galaxy s5 hit 18k before an unlock but money shouldn't make to much of a difference I'm sure the people who brought us root are working on it though
They recently fixed some twrp stuff for the D851, just hoping they're next target is unlocking bootloaders but only time will tell
Following them on twitter you'll find more info and updates than asking for it on an xda post

Ya I stopped buying Samsung, because it took 18k to root the damn thing, way to locked down, kills the fun. But being over $2300 in just over 11 days isn't too bad. That Samsung bounty went for a very long time. There were also a few people who individually pledged huge amounts of money. I really loved the specs for the S5, and the battery life.
That is until I heard about the LG G3. This phone is amazing. You know how a phone no matter how good it is, always has just one major fault? Sadly the only thing keeping the G3 from being the "perfect" phone is the QHD screen. Although I consider it a fault, this is also a plus, I would much rather have 1080p and the extra screen battery time, thank god for my extra batteries and charger, I swear I get total phone anxiety paranoia if I don't have a removable battery. However I am getting 35-40 hours between charges, but thats only when I have about 3 hours screen time in that span. I run at 50% brightness, and the screen gulps battery. Other than that the battery is amazing! This is without using ART too. This thing would last days without the QHD screen.
Did anyone ever figure out what apps needed to be freezed to get ART functioning?
I wonder if Adam Outler would be willing to look at this phone.

Well I've heard it's only among Verizon variants so probably a Verizon app that's causing it, I wanna know what type of crash it is
And even if ART worked, I couldn't use it yet. I use apps that have compatability issues
It's easy to debug an error, if I had a recovery I would take the fall and see what's causing issues on ART for us but I've already had to factory reset once and I don't wanna do it again

Lets See What We Can Do
Ok well I have seen some posts from different people about various RE skills so lets get to work and do this thing. I have done this kind of thing before but have never pulled apart an android image. I know PBL boots SBL1 boots SBL2 and RPM but I do not know the addresses that these are loaded into and executed from. I have attached the SBL1.idc file that will create the IDA database for the SBL1. This needs to be base relocated to the correct address but that is an easy adjustment when we know where to put it.
One of the first things the SBL does is switch to various ARM modes (supervisor, fiq, irq, etc) and sets the stack pointer to 0xF8002000 from there is branches off to 0xF8041F00 (thumb) but since I do not know the memory map I cant track that down. Also it looks like there is some relocation code in there. Code that copies chucks to other locs. There also appears to be some signatures near the end of the file.
If anyone can help me flesh out the database that would awesome. Even loading addrs info would be great. By the way their are a ton of juicy strings in there , this makes the process of RE much easier.
N.B.
I did not create the Stack segment yet as I want make sure this is loaded to the correct address first. There may be some gaps in code still (like the very middle, but I think that is all supposed to be relocated) but it is mostly all disassembled.
Anyone seen this yet?

Tethered I believe
1) No removable battery
2) No microSD
Things that would make me very unhappy:
1) If the phone gets any taller or wider
2) If it stops supporting Qi
3) if it ditches the curved back
Things that would make me very happy:
1) They shrink the bezels even more
2) Verizon doesn't logo it up
3) They make an iPhone quality fingerprint scanner on the back power button that will work while knock code is still on too
4) Ditch the LG skin
5) More powerful IR blaster
6) 1080p resolution if it means better battery life versus 1440p
Oh my. Yes

I'm in the same boat. Got my G3 in August so I'm stuck with that for a while.
I don't see how people can justify buying the next new iPhone, Galaxy S or LG's flagships every year.
I don't feel like the jump from the G3 to the G4 is going to be enough to get me to upgrade.
The HTC One M9 will keep me from buying the G4.

Buy new device, sell old one on eBay for small loss; it amounts to renting a phone for $100 a year.
My crack habit. Sorry OP!
Every phone up until the my g3 had a custom recovery available thanks to developers figuring out how to by pass the bootloader or unlock it before I bought it. Whereas the G3 wasn't for about the 1st month I owned it and it drove me nuts because I am a flash aholic so I can't wait to see what the G4 is like, but this time I'm going to wait until the or it gets a custom recovery!
Unless it had a minimum of 64 GB of internal storage, there's no way I'd get any smartphone without a MicroSD slot.
I can't think of anything they could add so maybe working on size a little big not sure thats possible though. They can make the screen go brighter that seems to be one of the bigger complaints with the g3. I really have been lucky with not having to many issues. last year I jumped through the big 3 phones and ended up with g3 but I dont see a reason to try the other 2 as of right now.
While on the subject of possible weakness in the G3, my two main although relatively minor complaints and room for improvement are:
1. The notification LED is not noticeable unless I'm looking directly at it. For comparison, although the Galaxy S2's was too big and cartoony, the Galaxy S3's was perfect. I could see it out of the corner of my eye but it wasn't obnoxious. The problem might not be the size on the G3, it might be how deep inside the LED is, limiting it's visibility at anything but near direct angles.
2. Laying on it's back on my work desk or elsewhere, I never hear or feel the vibration, which I have set for all notifications. I theorize that the curved back, which I like very much, keeps the vibration from being noticeable due to the very small area of contact between the back of the phone and the desk surface. I don't want to keep it flipped over, I prefer it on it's back, I don't want to have it flipped over AND turn on the camera flash notifications, and from what I've seen without modification, the screen lighting up temporarily for notifications isn't that noticeable either.
The g2 had bad sound quality. The g3 has even worse sound quality.

I dunno. I am so disappointed with the Nexus 6 launch. Its still nearly impossible to get this phone and its still pretty pricey. I am disappointed that Verizon never formally launched it.
If the LG G4 has 4gbs of ram, I would without a doubt sell my g3 and get the g4.
But its looking like the galaxy s6 and htc one m9 both only have 3gbs of ram.
Why do I want more? To make it future proof. My lg g3 performs blazingly fast with Illusion 5.5 5.0.2 based rom. No major issues.
I would say that if motorola and lenovo release a padfone like device I would jump on that. Or ya know, if the Droid Turbo finally gets root... ha ha.
Do we have any concrete info on the G4?
I Got my G3 back in September, its a champ. I see no reason to upgrade right away.
With Bump out, the ability to run custom kernel/ROM, on 5.0 btw, so again, no reason to update. I love my phone.
I didn't think I would be here saying that coming from the Nexus 5. The root and rom method is so seamless and the ROMs so stable, running BlissPOP 2-20 here.
I would like a more premium feel to the device, but o'well. I can run anything I want on this thing, no problem.
...but do we have any info other then the couple concept renders, that are confirmed?
Ugh. It's getting bigger. But just barely. I so wish they would have wen the other way size wise.

Selling this thing on Ebay wouldn't even give me enough to buy out of my contract lol, let alone buy the new one lol
It's definitely be closer to $200 for me personally by my math, and I'm perfectly happy with my G3. Any device without a removable battery, a micro SD slot, and root and bootloader unlock is a device you can count me out of haha To each their own

Verizon LG G3 's are going for $315 ($400 mint) on swappa. Assuming G4 is $600, that's $285 you would pay for a new one. I would gladly pay an extra $85 to stay out of a contract (especially since I'm still on an unlimited data plan).
and you can leave comments about the camera out,i have a regular camera so i dont care about the camera, how is the screen? is it bright and visible in daylight? and is phone nice and fluid with custom roms on it? thanks
To answer the op, yes, the phone is a great device and I highly recommend it.
That said, I advise you use Kitkat or a custom Kitkat rom.
Whilst Lollipop offers eye candy, battery life is worse and there are bugs here an there.
Kitkat is more fluid, no memory or battery drain and bug free.
Once Lollipop has been updated to 5.01 or 5.02 it should iron current bugs.
Now, now children... Play nice.
As for the OP, read the post above mine. This is pretty much the overall opinion regarding the device. I'd recommend the gpe version but alas I have not handled the Xperia one. Albeit, the interface of stock Xperia stuff is quite nice (had it on a T and a Z before this).
You can't go wrong with it and it is dort cheap nowadays.

Yea, I have both. I actually like the z ultra more due to the size. 1st Android phone for me was the og note 1. Just have around 1 week with it and love the z ultra. My only complaint is battery life on the z ultra. But still my daily since I got it.

I am getting ~5hrs SOT with medium usage and a bit gaming (cm12 + my kernel), i'd say the Ultra does pretty good.

well with the note 3 i get about 4-5 hr SOT with heavy to moderate usage. on the z ultra, i get about 2 hrs lol. but still choose this over the note 3 as i have chargers at work, car and home. Screen is good in daylight, just bump up the brightness.

I haven't honestly measured sot but I get substantially more than 2 hours. The big thing is not how long but rather doing what. Touch screen drains the battery substantially more than simple sot such as watching a movie. This is something that has been like this since the first Z came out...
I have no issues using it outside either.

The most important thing is to never maximize brightness. I mostly keep it at half of the maximum, which is mostly enough.
My kernel is not released yet, still in testing stage. But i can tell that qcom's mpdecision kernel/userspace hotplug service uses a lot power, as it constantly boosts the CPUs frequencies.

Just to be on the safe side, I'd go for the gpe version as I believe it supports more bands. I know mine has no issues with tmo LTE (haven't tried it with att)

I was one the same boat as u...I have ATT LTE as well and was doing research before I bought it. I originally thought I got a gpe as I need LTE on ATT and read that only the GPe had the ATT LTE band, 17 I believe, so I bought the C6806, found out it was a SONY C6806 and not a GPe C6806, see attached pic for LTE bands

I am not sure if anyone has done this successfully on a Z Ultra, but here it is if anyone wants to look into it further.

This is all over the news in China apparently. Sounds like huawei substituted worse components into P10s which is really sad and makes me angry as I was just about to order one.
https://www.gizmochina.com/2017/04/...p10-storage-benchmark-results-shows-they-did/
Just saw that, and WOW.
BTW the link listed in that article as "Huawei forum" is not the official forum.
The official forum is trying really hard deleting threads, and in some forums "UFS" and "emmc" are now sensitive words.
Yes, they did.

Not only open close apps but actual load times and such...things that make a difference in real life. I'm pretty sure there will be a big difference between eMMC5.1 and UFS2.1 in real life.

I got a P10+ 6+64G Greenery in China and it was eMMC. I used it for 1 day and returned it because it's not as smooth as my Honor V8 and it lags occasionally when opening apps and scrolling the screen.
All complaining posts in Huawei's official forum were removed. They only show the good reviews there. It's 21st century but a Chinese giant is still doing such things

I returned it successfully because I didn't mention anything about the different internal flash problem Some returns were rejected if they mentioned this problem in the reasons of return.
It's good that the problem exposes to the public as the consumer should know it before they decide whether they should buy it.
Lucky you, I have on of the P10 with DDR3 and how knows if it has also eMMC5.1 instead of UFS2.1, and the problem is that I bought it more than a month ago here in Spain. I guess I will have to argue with the shop in order to have it replaced by a new P10 that MAYBE it has the same problem.
Man, I switched from Xiaomi in order to avoid several things (besides ROMs) like the quality of the manufacturing process (sudden death and things I've suffered in the last couple of years with several Xiaomi models) and now Huawei is even worse. I am very disappointed with Huawei, this is my first and maybe last Huawei phone.
At the end all manufacturers have their problems, Samsung with the Note model is an example. Maybe paying more than 800€ for an iPhone is worthless at the end...

Good luck! This is the first time that I know that eMMC is found in Europe. Maybe the source of your P10 is also from China? As you said, you bought it more than a month but it was only released just 1 month ago in China.
I understand that manufacturers always get the same component with different brands. The main point is that they have the same specification. But Huawei uses components with different specifications in the same model. That's really unacceptable. I am also very disappointed with Huawei as I used 2 Huawei phones (Honor 3C and Honor V8), which were good phones.
Well, according to some benchmarks I did, the memory controller seems to be UFS2.1 finally so there is no problem with mine!!
So I am relieve! But I would like to be able to check out the hardware components of my phone to be sure, who knows...

Looks like ufs 2.0
Not ufs 2.1 but its better than emmc 5
I have the same results and am more than happy with my p10
Should do a poll about how many user have eMMC, what region + model. I've been Huawei fans for long time but now I kind of feeling been cheated (placed order of the p10+ and not knowing what will I get). Now I am leaning towards cancelling the order before it shipped out.
So question is does international varient i.e L09 and L29 been effected by this scandal?
There are 3 things chinese fans was flaming about are:
1) no Olephobic coating
2) UFS, eMMC
3) LPDDR3, LPDDR4
