Hey guys, can one of you test SlimKat that I built for the dlx? I am 93% sure it'll boot up
Hopefully, if everything works out, I would be able to build it for you guys on a weekly basis

testing
Downloaded a few hours ago. Booted first try, had an issue with supersu but worked through that. It is pretty smooth so far. Messaging works. Have not tested camera or video or Bluetooth calling. Only issue so far is screen flashes s on/off when call connects but I think that is probably after market screen and not the build; although I do think it has something to do with the kernel. Let you know more as I go forward.
Great I'm using the cm m7 kernel for now. I'll experiment with other kernel repos.
Is there another one you recommend?
Hey,
I wanted to thank you guys for the ROM.
It's way cooler than all the blinkfeed one floating around
I know that you are looking for a bugs. I've been using it for three days now and I've noticed a couple of things :
First, that su wasn't working right off the bat. That's easy to fix though.
The other thing that bothered me was that the apps off the play store aren't downloading on the first attempt. They sort of fail with an error code a couple of times.
The recent apps panel that shows up on the right doesn't have the most recent app until you open it a second time or you wait a while.
And for some reason, the spacebar on the keyboard doesn't trigger 100% of the time. I don't know if that's just because of the way I type or the fact that I'm used to the HTC keyboard on this phone.
Other than that, I haven't noticed any glitches or reboots or any other random stuff.
Keep up the good work.

thanks so much man There's the thread in Q/A for support on this ROM now so we can talk there from now on

i just noticed that the "My Apps" button in the market now looks like a phone and says "sprint"
If i click on it it doesn't take me to my apps.
Anyone else having this problem?
That's normal for this build. If you click on your Menu, you'll find My Apps there.
Thanks you were right

I'm really enjoying this ROM. The speed of the machine is phenomenal.
Love the Rom ad well but can't seem to get the market updated or to show all apps. Any thoughts?
I've tried market enabled to no avail.
Issue with ROM or with G-Tab?
I've noticed that if I let the g-tab go to sleep, I'm having to reboot it get it to wake up.
Is anyone else having this issue? I've had my tablet since x-mas, but have nto used it much. It sat in a desk drawer for about 2 months, and I'm just now getting into using it.

I have this issue with every rom ive tried on my gtab. So now I pretty much just install clem's kernel everytime. Plus it gives me CIFS so I can stream media from my windows pc .

Yeah, again it's just the build. There are a ton of hacks that will get you more of the market, but I doubt you'll ever get "everything". Considering that the GTab wasn't blessed by Google, we're lucky to have the devs here to get the market at all.

Another issue with this ROM. Some have fixed it by going to Clemsyn's kernel, others to Pershoot's and still others by using CPU Master Free. Personally, I just set my tab's Screen Timeout to Never. What can I say...I like simple.

I agree. The only problems I see with it are no news and weather widget like on tnt, and the horrible photo album (I think it's from stock?)
Fireware
This may be a stupid question, so I am sorry if it is, but Calkulins v1.1 says it is "Based on rooted 2.2 / FRF91 - TnT 3991"...
so can you run it on the 1.1-3588 firmware, or will that brick?
Again, sorry for my ignorance...
Thanks!
ROM's and Firmware are the same thing. If you're asking whether you can use ClockworkMod or standard recovery, the answer is yes. Calkulin's ROM is a hybrid using the newer 3991 build for features but the older bootloader and recovery. It shouldn't cause you any trouble loading it over 3588.
Thanks! Sorry, I confused the firmware with bootloader, thanks for straightening that out!
No problem. Just want to make sure that I understand the question correctly. Happy modding!
All Done!
Woot!! I will say, I bought this on the woot! deal... and although I consider myself very computer savvy, I have never rooted/hijacked/whatever a device before...
Happily this was super easy! I wanted use the stock ROM for a bit to get familiar with it, but I just couldn't stand how slow/unresponsive/just crappy it was!!
So I jumped the gun and started in... luckily I did a lot of reading first!!
Loaded up Clockworkmod - and made a backup first!! lol
Used clockworkmod to install Calkulins ROM---OMG is it fast!!
The found that I was having the sleep-death issue... so I loaded up Clemsyns Kernel Too!!
Not a single hiccup! Even for a noob- this is super easy! Just follow all the great advice on the XDA forums (and don't skip steps!) and you can't screw it up.
Thanks to all the great people on here, for the hard work, and patience... I love seen good communities like this!
DeadEnd
Which version of Clemsyns is recommended?
Hi,
clakulins ROM is my prefered ROM so far
But, it needs some issues to be addressed to make it my daily driver.
1- sleep-to-death
I know we can use another kernel to fix this (so I keep this fix for later if everything else can work)
2- Settings/Family accounts/add member
This FC every single time. I definitly need this functionality. My Gtab being a family device....
3- Photos is horrible as previosuly pointed out in this thread. I want a centralized place for all my photos, or at least for local storage + picasa. With this gallery, we can only access picasa public albums. What about my own account !!!
4- Photos started to display pictures roatated one quarter to the left. It doesnt let me re-rotate them back to original. It does that for evey single picture, i cant fix this. Photos is now unusable
I tried a few Photos gallery apps from the market (6-7 so far). None of them works to my liking.
I just want somethings simple that get access to all my pics.
5- Cant play videos anymore. Not even the sample 'car' and 'king kong' that came with the Gtab.
If I can fix all of the above, calkulin will be my only and permanent ROM.
(ps items 4 and 5 were previously working ok in this ROM, this started yesterday)
Also, another things that is on my whish list:
- Have bluetooth HID
I have this blutooth keyboard collecting dust on the used parts shelve that I would like to use with the Gtab
thank you calkulin for all,
So, I decided to install clemsyn kernel to fix this sleep-death problem.
No problem installing, everything went well.
But now instead of comlaining that it cant play videos, it just FC on every videos I try to play.
I feel a complete reinstall will be necessary.
I have only tested this on the CM9 nightlies, so if you decide to try it on anything else, make a backup beforehand and report if it works for you.
Do you want Google Now on your HP Touchpad? Of course you do. I have been following this thread for a while waiting to get Google Now on my ICS phone.

XDA member cajunflavoredbob has been keeping a post updated with the latest flashable zips. So keep checking back for the latest one here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=29756226&postcount=2856
I have used these files on my phone and got Google Now working for me. I decided to try the same thing on my TouchPad and it is still a bit buggy but worked pretty well. Voice search and talk back all worked (still buggy though). Just flash in CWR. I dont know if there is any easy way of removing it. So make a backup of your ROM just in case you want to revert back.
I started from a fresh flash of CM9's most recent nightly and then flashed Google Now v6.zip. I was able to get Now working a few times for searches but since have received the "double take" bug that does not automatically set a time reminder etc. After a couple attempts, pressing the MIC button shows an "initializing" screen and does not function.
I've read through his post several times over looking for a fix via permissions, disabling voice actions, etc, but have not been able to get it working 100%. What is your status with it on your TP?

I think we're on the same page. When it works, it works well. But it still has small bugs. Pressing on the mic in the search bar seems to work better. But at least every feature is there now. A step closer.
Yeah, I'll keep my eye on that thread. I switched around a couple of the updated velvet.apks since there were a few floating around, stated as working, to no avail but I will continue to test fixes. Any bets on whether his Google Now fix or a stable CM10 for the TP is released first?
OP updated with link to latest files.
I'm using reeko's zip, it fails on first try about half the time but when i retry it works pretty much always, if not i retry again lol
I did install the google voice search from app store after flashing the zip. I set the mic to go to this voice search, and pressing the word google brings up google now. So I have one that always works, and one that kind of almost always works.
I'm using the online only version of the zip, I don't know if the offline would need to initialize to google server or if it would work without failing
I havent even tried the offline version. But it sounds like they have similar issues. When you say you retry, do you hit the mic icon or the actual word "Retry"?
either one, or both
i just tested it, it works with doing either, it really is hit or miss it seems. around 15-20% success rate sometimes. I mean I hit retry/mic (depending on how bored i am) and I can do this around 10 times before getting it to work once. Then other times I can get it to work 3-4 times in a row before failing again
edit: from what I can tell (or what it looks like to me) hitting retry, retries in the app. hitting mic relaunches app? i say this since i see it kind of jump, like the entire app relaunched quickly. So my take is if this launch didnt work, i hit mic to relaunch it and hope this time is a bit better

I kinda have a feeling one of the older files worked better.
If you get bored, try this file out. This was the first one I came across but havent gotten around to flashing it back to see if it was better.
https://www.box.com/s/78f4efb985d94487d5d5
I am also hitting about 10%. Whether or not I hit mic or reset. I play with the settings, changing language and what not and it seems to reset it. But still hit and miss...
Same. Im running CM9 nightly 8/07, tested flashing every G Voice rom and the same error occurred with each one. I came across a post saying G Now only worked with a specific ICS rom, but I cannot find that particular post anymore nor a post on the main thread with a CM9 TP confirming G Now is working.
I'm also having problems getting G Now to work properly on the HP Touchpad with the latest nightly build.
Only thing that is buggy which today for me stopped working altogether is the voice search.
Anyone figure out how to fix this yet?
I'm not a developer but shouldn't it be possible to get G Now working for CM9? Since it is running ICS.
It would be awesome to get Voice working.
I'm running LiquidSmooth v3.0 Beta (LS-KK-v3.0-2014-02-13-dlx) on my Verizon DNA and I'm pretty happy with it. Big thanks to deadman96385, santod040, and anyone else who contributed to this project!
This is the first custom ROM I've run as a "daily driver" on my DNA after ~16 months on the stock ROM, so most of my impressions are in comparison with the most recent stock HTC software. I briefly tried CyanFox but switched back to stock. I also tried the "HTC One *STOCK* ROM Port" (DLX_WL_K442_SENSE55_MR_4.19.401.8) but couldn't get it to boot; actually flashing it messed up my recovery as well. I suspect maybe my download was corrupted since other people reported success with that ROM.
Back to LiquidSmooth:
- Perceived performance is generally pretty solid. It's mostly very smooth, living up to its name.
- I do get the occasional app crash (FC); haven't noticed a pattern yet. It's not frequent enough to bother me much.
- A few times I have had the phone become unresponsive when opening the recent apps view or when trying to unlock from the lock screen. But this hasn't happened in a few days. Could be the freezing was related to one of the features I tried and later disabled (see below), or just due to the ROM "settling in" (populating caches, etc.)
- Love KitKat and the add-on features:
- I'm using the "pie control" for quick access to apps, quick screen off, menu access, etc.
- I tried HALO and couldn't really figure it out / didn't find it useful.
- I like the idea of Active Display but it didn't work that well in combination with the way I use the lock screen, so I turned it off and use the lock screen's built-in active display features instead.
- I'm using the default Google Now launcher for the moment. I like the easy access to voice search and google now. Don't like that it doesn't have multi-touch for dragging icons between home screens.
I think the battery is draining faster than with the stock ROM, though it's hard to say because I've also been using the phone a lot more actively while I get it set up and configured the way I want. It may be that the active display feature of the lockscreen is using more power?
People in the development forum mention an over-the-air (OTA) update mechanism; I haven't been able to find that yet.
There's a new version posted called 03-05-14; I haven't tried that version yet.
Anyway, I'm quite happy with this ROM and imagine I'll stick with it for a while. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a clean, fast, stable ROM, and in particular to anyone freshly rooted and looking for a solid ROM to try out KitKat and get a lot of great new features.
(note—maybe it would have made more sense to put this directly in the existing LiquidSmooth development thread, but I don't have permission to post there. And I'm not developing the ROM, just using it.)
Thanks again! Great ROM.
How much did they pay you? LOL
I tried it as well as all of the other KK AOSP ROMS. I really like AOSP.
I was on stock until viperDNA 2.0 came out, then I decided to S=OFF/ROOT/etc... and plugged Viperware in. It was awesome. Not an issue ever. So I wanted to give 3.0 a try, after trying every ROM out there (actually it kinda became like crack to me LOL).
So far after several days, it's 5x5, not an issue at all. On my phone, only the Viperware works as advertised.
That's not to say that Viperware doesn't have its issues, but I just haven't seen any yet. As I said I really like AOSP, but because Viperware uses Aroma installer, I can delete almost everything - which gives it a kind of AOSPishy look/feel.
My sig hits it; these developers (ALL of them) are amazing and do all of this for US on their own time for FREE. If I were a kagillionaire, I'd employ you ALL.
Hah! Thanks Yehuda. I started this thread because I wish there were more ROM reviews here on xda, since I don't really have time to try out every ROM. I appreciate your review of ViperDNA; maybe I'll try that next.
Update on LiquidSmooth: after a week or so I found that it wasn't as clean as I originally thought and went back to (rooted) stock for a while.
Cyanogenmod 12.0 Semi-Official
HTC Evo 4G LTE ( jewel )

NPL recovery though. That's the only catch here.
Installation...
Wipe, reboot recovery.
Install CM-12.0, reboot.
One it finishes booting, reboot to recovery.

Cool. Sounds good. I may give it a try, just to say that I have 5.0. But I would like to have the camera working... But it is probably something that I can live with.

I can say that as long as I've got my Jewel, and as long as the code works, I'll be cranking things out. I'm really partial to Slim series ROMs, but I was super eager to try out L so I flashed this one. Also, it looks like CM is going to continue to support this thing for the foreseeable future. Once they start their nightly builds, it should be available there, too. Though, without the extra butter.
Thanks for the work and the build.

Well done! Glad to have you back!
This is working surprisingly well for a first build. The first KitKat builds were total garbage, comparatively.
I'm using it as a daily driver for now. The latest Beta SuperSU will get you properly rooted on LP too. I'll post the link when a bit later (have to find it again), but Google will get you there for now.
Issues (none of which are controllable by the OP) and fixes
Issue one - keyboard doesn't always pop up like it's supposed to. So far I've been able to fix it every time by simply turning my phone sideways, then back.
Issue two - Sometimes not all choices are viewable in pop up boxes. I was able to get around this by changing screen density to 280.
Issue 3 - APN menu doesn't do anything of value. To change apn settings, download sql editor. Open telephony.db which is located at data/data/android.providers.telephony/databases. Then locate the 310120 lines and edit the values as you normally would for your carrier. Your phone will now use the desired APN settings.
Is it possible to turn off your modem like it was in 4.4? I don't see any option for that anywhere. The reason being is that I don't like my phone downloading things when I don't tell it to. It wastes my data, and gets annoying.

Theoretically that is what I was looking for. But now that I'm testing my phone, I realized that I'm not able to actually make or receive calls. Idk if that was because of the widget or what. It might also be a carrier problem.
EDIT - It was a carrier problem, but caused by what, I can't say.

Yeah kk was garbage for the first few months even. So LP way better so far in that way. Glad to have me back? I was here before?
Ok so next build I'll set to 280 and see about that. I have no idea on the KB lol I just used google KB cause it has a dark ui option.
But properly rooted... Big must have there. That I want fixed lol.
I have tried this rom full day, very nice, I just restart sometimes problematic when there is no data connection and GPS is not accurate,
While trying to get rid of the TW bloat, I bumped into CM11 installer-version, 6 months ago. It was great at first, somewhat unstable though: with the occasional Camera won't start issue and a lot of the Bluetooth restarting. Also Instagram video-upload didn't work and sadly I use that stuff for work
Months passed by and the installer version never got updated so I figured I would try the latest CM11 snapshot version + Boeffla Kernel.
So I did. Step by step. Erased and wiped everything and started from scratch. I'm 3 weeks in and let me tell you, I'm ready to go back to Touchwiz. The every-now-and-then camera bug is now a certainty every time I open the camera app. I get these black screens every now and then when loading the "big" apps (facebook, myfitnesspal, stuff like that). Sometimes it freezes for a solid 5 seconds. That never happened before. Slow, yes, but a black screen and nothing, never. Bluetooth is better though.
I don't know if it is the Kernel or the ROM that's doing this. But either way, I need to stop it. I've tried 3 governors (PegasusQ, zzmoove and PegasusQPlus) but the lags and the black screens on keep coming.
Can anyone help? Is it an option to go back to CM11 installer? Best way to do it? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
