I am really loving the active forum here, but looking forward to go for a custom rom which is based on stock, has good looks(not the dark themes) and some mods on it. I am on 108 with un locked bl and rooted too.
Let me know!
did you backup your TA-Partition bevore unlocking? Just asking because you want to charge the Device whith 1/4 more power than Sony recommends to you.
If not it`s too late. Anyways the best Rom for Z Ultra is Cyanogenmod for me (but it depends on the user which Rom he likes the most) .

But I'm biased as I'm building it.
Slim and LiquidSmooth are both nice, and Candy looks to be getting good feed back - it all depends on what you want out of a ROM
Re reading your post do you mean something like Monx or @iBuzman's one?
Yeah.. modded from stock roms are nice, Sony doesn't really have bloatware like Samsung anyway
i've switched over from Stock 4.3 to GPe 4.4.3 and now running on CandyRom 4.4.4
... and i must say, CandyRom is very nice

Pretty good and fast, but for a screen this size, the DPI for gpe is a waste of space. Changed DPI and was better, but it's just basic Google ROM, so quite...bleh Lol
Everything is enhanced with xposed modules
Tapa-ed from the Sony Z Ultra

Dude edit your post. The 2nd link is an outdated version of the rom. I uploaded the 108 version right here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z-ultra/development/exr-freedom-zu-108-support-bank-t2814271
It is the same rom I use and the sound quality is amazing The rom is for people who wants Z2 tweaks with sound quality tweaks.

Hi,
I'm really sorry for starting a topic like this, but this forum/subsection is really so cluttered...
I'm just looking for a stable, light, snappy ROM. A ROM which has proven it's worth. As little bugs as possible, no experimental features!
And also a kernel which fits best.
I would like like all hardware functions of my phone to keep working though:
Camera/Video, hardware keyboard/lights, vibrate, tactile feedback, etc...
Grtz!
No probs brov........
For ROM:-

You will get a bunch of different answers as each rom runs differently depending on set up and apps. To be honest looking for a rom in a development forum and you will always find things to be experimental. XDA is not about finding stable bug free roms. It is about learning and development.

I don't entirely agree. My previous phone was a HTC Desire, there were a lot of experimental ROMs, but also a lot of stable running ROMs.
I agree that most ROMs will always be a little experimental. But there's experimental and experimental ... If you know what I mean
What I'm trying to say is, I would like to have a ROM which is made by someone who really knows what he's doing and not just some barely tested ROM which will crash every 5 seconds
As for me, i havent try another ROM on my phone cos most has Bug.... have been using NeroDroid ROM since i bought my phone & i havent for once regret dat!!! i keep praying for tha Developer every blessed day for making a wonderful ROM!

I understand that but really this is development forum for developers to try out things that may cause issues or even brick a device if you don't understand exactly what your doing. This always has been and always will be the case. Just be happy that the devs even offer fixes unlike a few years ago when it was up to the users to dug in and fix issues they come across. Flashing custom roms should never be taken with a grain of salt or done cause people think it is cool or fun. We all should be hear to learn. If your not learning something when flashing then it really is a waste if time.

I have some knowledge about the proces of flashing roms/customizing phones. I just had more for my previous phone. Everything is a little new for the minipro.
That's also the reason I'm looking for a lite ROM, less potential problems to encounter
if u want really a light rom u could try pro-x rom, it is not posted here in xda, but if u type it on google u could find it on that guy website
nice, will check that one out also
In my opinion if you want a light & stable ROM you should stick with stock ROM. Thats what I have done. I just removed all the bloatware and unnecessary crap that I will never use, it has the best battery life and you don't really have to worry about it crashing. Also, I used Rage Kernel as it provides amazing battery life. To make my life easier I installed extra MODs that are essential. Just look at my signature for all the stuff I have installed.

You're right, but I would like to go one step further, I would also (maybe) like to get rid of the Sony apps. Like the Sony launcher, text-app, ... and start using the android default apps.
Is this also possible to remove those system apps from the stock rom?

Yeah, if you are rooted you can do anything you want! That's what I have done, I removed most Sony stock apps and replaced them with the 1s CyanogenMod supplies (which is stock). Some apps I kept the same due to they look nicer!
To be exact, the only thing I changed was the Phone, Contacts & Messaging apps. Everything else I kept the same

Thanks for the lead. The PRO-X [ROM] is working great in my Mini Pro (SK17i)
BTW, it is now posted on this forum - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1639720
I tried three different ROMs in the last one week before settling on this one.
Cyanogenmod 7.1.02 - Didn't work, faced the boot loop problem.
MIUIv4 2.4.6 - Nice UI, but phone felt sluggish and video play was jerky.
4.0.2.A.0.69 Generic (PreRooted) with 66 Baseband - Camera flash was not working.
But finally, PRO-X gives me everything I want - a light, snappy rom with fully functional hardware and no bugs (so far). Had it for two days now.
==> Rage Kernel v2.8 + Baseband 64 + PRO-X v2.2 ROM
Cheers.

I have to say something because im afraid this post will be overlooked. This is without a doubt the best ROM ported/developed for the i717. Believe me I've tried them all. I am coming from my heavily modded liquid smooth kk, to a plain vanilla install of this, and the difference is like night and day. The OP has really outdone himself with choosing this ROM for the i717. I haven't seen performance like this from a vanilla install since cm9 or blackstar x. Perfect up-to-date daily driver for anyone, system ui FC's every once in awhile nothing really aggrevating, and the ROM itself is just great. Notifications only take the space they need to display just like in lp. The launcher has no app drawer, easily fixable for someone who prefers one. Kudos to the OP

That is an easy answer...no devs with z5c no roms.
Ask dev if they can make one for us. Also that would be great if you volunteer to test it.
Maker of MWA doesnt have z5c, i think he was able to port rom quite "easily"
I really miss a slim version for our z5c.

Hey, so I've seen a lot of people talking about how good XX ROM is and it's better than YY because of something. Also another problem being the question of best ROM.
I'd like to say something: Everyone has their own thinking and point of view, so something's that's not important to you might be imporrtant to someone else, so making judgements like this is better than that is all dependant from person to person. We all know that no two mind think alike. These types of questions discourage developers so please it's my humble request to not post / compare ROMs calling them bad / good. If you don't like a feature then don't use it. Same goes for the ROM. If you can help improve then you most probably can via github or gerrit as some ROMs provide. With that being said. Thanksfor the time to read this post.
I kind of agree. I much prefer to see descriptions with a list of pros and cons rather than a simple "this ROM is better because I like these aspects"

Going to give it ago again tonight... I week or so ago I tried it and had very odd behaviors. Likely just a bad flash (sounds odd, but it does happen) and went back to Oxygen... is there any differences between the UNOFFICIAL and OFFICIAL builds?
How is it that even a thread specifically made to tell people not to ask questions about which rom is best, turns into a rom advice thread.

mm don't know if there is a difference, there is not much out there, i'm using official , last stable, only negative, are random crash apps, most of all google apps... and have to reboot, but the battery life is very very good.
Won't make a separate thread for this but I'll ask here - what are 2-4 most popular ROMs for the OP2 going around nowadays? I've been using Exodus ROM for a long time and I really liked it, but the latest update was November 11th and it looks like the developers have moved on. The ROM is fine, and there's really nothing that I'm missing, but there are some stability issues with random reboots and force close and this is the longest I've gone without updating/changing something so I'm looking to try something new. I want to look into a few different options and read others' reviews and look into features and stuff, but it would be great if you guys could narrow down my search to the few most popular/well known/most supported roms that are currently available.
