Hi!
I have a chinese Xperia Z c6603 phone and I did a number of modifications to bring it closer to US stock phone. the phone had stock Android 4.4.2 without GAPPS.
Here is what I did in the sequence.
(1) Unlocked the boot loader and installed Clockwork recovery ROM. I did this in Ubuntu 12.04 desktop. Th recovery worked pretty well.
(2) installed CyanogenMod 10.2.1 "Yuga". The phone hung up at the boot and kept on circling around CyanogenMod.
(3) Used Sony Emma flashtool and installed Sony stock OS which said it was Android 4.3 Jelly Bean. Obviously I used Win 7 laptop for flashing.
(4) After installation, I managed to boot the phone and I automatically got GAPPS. Even though what Emma installed
Everything seemed to work fine except Video recording. The stock phone had great video recording and now all of my video recording is screwed up. Attached please find a sample of a movie clip that I shot after flashing back to stock Sony Android OS. I do not see similar poor quality images when I take still images from the same camera. Therefore, I have a feeling that something is wrong with video recording firmware or codecs. So, I would like to get everyones help in diagnosing the problem and fixing.
Thanks

Hi there. I'm posting here since I can't post on development.
I have a black SK17i with locked bootloader and no chance of unlocking it.
Recently I flashed Real ICS Lite r4 (based on 4.1.B.0.587) since it's now compatible with locked bootloader.
90% works fine but camera and youtube appear with blanked screen.
They both work (I can take pictures, record movies and listening to youtube videos) but image just gets with blank (black) screen.
Even in main screen with small video of youtube all I can see is blank picture on the small video window - the rest is visable.
On the camera app I also can see all controls. Picture taken (blindly) is as expected but no image on screen to aim for the target (extremely annoying as you can imagine).
Now I've updated to 4.1.B.0.587 without factory reset or I would loose the root and then flashed Real ICS Lite r4 also without resetting.
I don't think that Real ICS Lite r4 comes pre rooted or I would be able to do a factory reset and I don't even know if it would change this problem.
Anyway it may be from stock kernel compatibility (I also have some random reboots that I started to have before when I tried to tweak the stock rom).
After that and before Real ICS Lite r4 I followed the book:
Flashed stock 4.0.2.A.0.42 with factory reset
Rooted with DooMLoRD_v4 and Xperia-ROOT rev4
Flashed stock 4.1.B.0.587 without factory reset
Installed X-parts for CWM battery hack
Flashed Real ICS Lite r4 zip from boot with CWM.
I'm not really new at this as I had several android phones and I help several friends with theirs but I can't solve this one without some help or at least some pointers.
I've even installed the flash fix with no effect.
This bootloader lock and the short battery duration drives me crazy and this rom seems to help a bit.
Thank you for any help :good:
bump...!?
Hi everyone. If anyone can help I would greatly appreciated. I cannot update to KITKAT whatsoever the only thing that runs is Jelly Bean 4.3 (JWR66Y) (with radio v.48 from older version android image (v S4.2.2 (JDQ39).Screen and digitizer was replaced from ebay) Here are the things I tried after 2 weeks of searching and trying things: I tried all the developer FACTORY images from v4.4--- AND-up with same result ===stuck on bootloop google animation. bubbles but not willing to boot into kitkat
-Fastboot flash-all.bat loaded flashed OKAY ---result: stuck on google kitkat bubble animation
-Wugs Nexus root toolkit will flash but ---------still stock on kitkat bootloop animation
-WorkClockMOd sideload also same results stuck still in bubble animation but doesn't load kitkat
Jelly Bean factory image v 4.3 works fine and stock 4.2 also OR WITH RADIO FROM v.4.2 will update to 4.3 but that is as far as I could go
I did this while rooted/unrooted and I think I tried everything with not much luck(still stuck on boot animation bubbles)
USB/sdk, platform tools and all the files necessary are operational so no issues on that side.
I SHOULD MENTION THAT ON V 4.3 THE OTA UPDATE TO 4.4 NOTIFICATION SHOWS UP BUT WHEN I TRY TO INSTALL IT, IT GIVES ME THE ERROR IN THE IMAGE I ATTACHED OR IT JUST LOADS HALF WAY AND THEN IT SHOWS ME THE ANDROID WITH RED EXCLAMATION MARK!
pls HELP
I took apart phone and realized that the proximity sensor was unplugged (forgot to plug it back in) that was causing the error. All OTA updates now work!

I found with my Nexus that it worked much better to run the fastboot commands manually.

when i took phone apart I forgot to plug the proximity sensor back in (while replacing screen) after I plugged it back in phone works fine all updates 4.4.4.
I have a couple of queries...
Me are coming out a couple of "errors" during the flashing of a firmware, it leaves the same errors as in Neflasher but here it looks better.
After flashing a custom kernel the PC does not detect the phone in fastboot mode, but if you leave me Flaseharlo.
I have also had enough problems with the UI (force stop) even making a flash of a stock firmware (after flash the kernel).
And the problem of "slow motion" with the Xperia camera, you see with Zoom and Blur, any solution for it? And how update system witout lost data/system?
Is this error normal with the bootloader unlocked? I did not leave these errors when I had not flashed the kernel...
Posted in completely the wrong section. Come on man, you know there's a Q&A forum.
I can't read what the text on the SloMo screenshot says, but I assume it's SuperSloMo.
In that case, the artifacts are "normal". You need tons of light to get decent results.
Hi there !
So I've bought my Xperia Z2 Tablet back in 2014 and I've immediately unlocked bootloader to root it. Of course I did NOT backup the TA partition etc...
Several weeks later I realized I couldn't update system. Since then, my system has stayed with android Kitkat 4.4.
But now, 4 years later, even Netflix isn't supported anymore on Android 4.4 so I need to update badly.
But actually I'm pretty lost with all the Xperia scene. My tablet is actually rooted and bootloader is unlocked. It has Busybox, Rommanager and Superuser installed.
I've tried PC companion, which of course tells me he can't update my tablet because of the unlocked bootloader.
Then I4ve installed Flashtool, I've tried locking bootloader but then my tablet can't boot anymore (Flashtool says it's connected in "flash mode") and I have to unlock bootloader for tablet to boot.
I'm pretty lost between Firmware, Kernel, ROMs. From what i've read I think I'm supposed to upgrade to 23.5.A.1.291 but not sure what market/operator I should pick..
And then I can't find a simple walkthrough. Most of them are outdated or missing files or steps...
Any help about how I should proceed would be much appreciated.
Thanks
If you have an unlocked bootloader you can easily install even Oreo (8.1 Android). Just flash the original firmware for your device (even Kitkat are available in flashtool to download-try some press media version).
I have japanese SOT21 Au operator locked tablet with forever locked bootloader and i've managed to replace standard 5.0.2 version by flashtool to 6.0.1 (taiwanese version 23.5.A.0.575) - which removed space from 32Gb to 16Gb (because SGP521 is less), but also resolved many problems - the sound level which was awful quiet on 5.0.2 now much much louder :good: and even Sony display enhancements works (i thought i will loose DRM keys with this flashes, but they ok as i see, i don't backed them up and everything much faster working and even the battery is better - less energy use with Battery Saver on (the Stamina mode on original was useless) and at last it charges during like watching Twitch stream in Source quality (on 5.0.2 there was strange behavior when tablet cannot sustain energy charging with discharging, so battery was like stuck in specific percent forever, just awful - watching something 1080p with full brightness with charger attached are just impossible short. I have 2011 Toshiba Thrive tablet which can work without user-removable battery, can work only from original charger-19volts, i'm using it like internet-TV, they don't make them like that anymore).
I'm amazed how easy it was - just flashing, no any dancing with root or anything. As i remember - first i flashed the original firmware, then cleaned to factory settings and flashed taiwanese SGP521 tablet firmware on it - it works from the first boot.
Hello.
After installing XperiFix, my camera is still not working. I am uploading the logs below. I noticed that the Magick 17.1 version from XperiFix doesn't work, and when I try to update or upload from a new one, I see a black screen after booting the phone, but when I press and hold power button I see a window to a turn off device and sometimes top bar appears (time, battery, etc.). I tried to install Magisk v25.2.
I also tried to upload the stock camera (https://gitlab.com/xperiance/camera/-/releases) but without the higher version of Magick I can't do it.
I have FW .205, before that I tried .270 but it didn't work, bootloop when starting the phone.
In the morning I will install the update from OTA to .235 and try to upload XperiFix or install the .145 version and see what happens next.
I tried Open Camera and made logs, but they didn't save, but the camera still doesn't work ;/
EDIT: I flashed FW .145 but didn't help.
I flashed Android 9 FW 47.2.A.11.228 to test, but I cant flashed XperiFix, because in TWRP write "read-only partition detected" and I see that I flashed Magisk nothing happens, it's as if it didn't install, I don't know why but I didn't have a problem with it before... In TWRP this options "read-only" is unchecked.

Is it possible to fix this somehow, anyone know anything? I've read a lot of forum posts about it but nothing works, I'll just add that after installing some AOSP(probably Android 11) the front camera works but very poorly and after taking a picture you can see green artifacts on it.
