[Q] SGH-M819N Flashing Custom ROM - Samsung Galaxy Mega

Hi everyone. Recently, I have tried to flash the CyanogenMod (CM11) ROM via TWRP Recovery (v2.7.1.0), and it ends up with an error saying E:Error executing updater binary in zip '/sdcard/TWRP/cm-11-20140628-UNOFFICIAL-meliusltexx.zip' which results in the "error flashing zip". I have the MetroPCS variant of the Samsung Galaxy Mega, and I could not find many threads that support this particular model. For anyone's reference, I downloaded the Custom ROM from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2566642.
I was wondering if anyone could help me solve this error. So far, my research on Google led me to unzip the zip file, navigate to "[ROM Name]\META-INF\com\google\android\", and replace the "update-binary" file in which no regard was given for what to replace it with. Google also brought me to this forum http://unleashedprepaids.com/thread-8745-post-71471.html#pid71471 which gave compatible ROMS for my particular phone, but all gave me the same error message.
At this point, I am willing to try anything else since I have both a Nandroid Backup and a TWRP created backup saved on my phone and computer. Currently, I have no system installed on my phone, but I'll restore it soon. Thank you guys for the help. I appreciate it.

Solved!
Never mind! I was able to figure it out. The thread can be closed now.

[q] please help, im new to this, phone not working at all~~~~!!!

Hello, please help me.
I rooted my phone few months back and it was working fine.
I had the brilliant idea of trying to back everything up so i can install the stock rom to get the new 4.1.2 update on my note 2 from verizon.
I downloaded this recommended back up app that only works on rooted phones.
After i downloaded and installed, it went blank and it said i had an invalid system something and i needed to take to the verizon store.
I did that, they told me they cant help obviously because its a rooted phone
i tried following steps in installing the stock rom such as:
Getting odin:
Installing the driver:
But when i download the file from various sources and extract, it does not become a valid file name to load into odin.
I tried many roms and none of them work.
I tried extracting with 7zip win zip winrar, and nothing works.
I keep getting the file .xz
someone please help me get my phone back to work.
I cant do anything...now i get a new message saying the firware is invalid or something.
Im so desperate im not sure what else to do.
Thank you for reading this.
the .xz is fine. click on pda, then click on file extension and types, select all, the file should show up. select it, hit start and odin will verify the md5.

[Q] i747M rom signing

The usb port in my samsug i747M S3 is not working on any pc and my phone is stuck in a bootloop. I need to know if there is anyway to flash in a custom recovery via the stock recovery or flash in a new zip flashable rom through stock recovery.
I have used cygwin kitchen to put together a flashable zip from a odin rom i downloaded online but i keep getting esignature verification failed. After researching this i found that only samsung signed zips are allowed to be flashed in stock recovery. How can i sign my zips and make them appear as Samsung signed? If possible!!

Sorry man, that's pretty much the proverbial rock and a hard place... I'm assuming you already tried the factory reset? There really aren't many options when you are in this situation without getting the USB port fixed (which is soldered, so not the easiest thing to do). You can't flash a custom recovery or rom through the stock 3e recovery. At all. Some phones you can, this isn't one of them. This limits your options to 2 things -
Find an OTA update zip that is the same version or the one that is the next in line of updates such as this:
http://www.androidegis.com/how-to/leaked-jelly-bean-ota-update-for-bell-galaxy-s3-i747m-9-mvlali1/ (but this is older and probably won't work and do not even try if you were 4.3 last and is a leak version - this is just for example purposes only)
or you can try this, though since your boatloader is probably fine, not sure if it will work either:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2549068
Other than that, your options are JTAG service or fixing the port, which if you are gonna spend the $ for a JTAG service, it'd make more sense to just put that towards the repair and then it will be very easy to reload the OS once that is fixed.

I specifically said that it probably wouldn't work and was only for the idea. That update was a leaked version of 4.1.1. I'm assuming your system is probably newer than that, hence why it wouldn't work. I don't know what update you are on and not sure if there is an OTA that would be helpful even. Just saying in your current situation, there aren't many options.

invalid OTA package missing scatter when trying to flash a zip file

Hi,
First of all, I am new to the android community and I hope that you will understand that I am writing as a noob.
I'm having an issue with my Chinese smartphone POMP W88A. It was a brand that was making smartphones, but it seems they have stopped producing phones. The phone is running on JB 4.2.2. It is running on MTK6589 processor. Kernel version is 3.4.5. Screen resolution is qHD (960x540). This phone seems like a Galaxy S4 clone. It has touchwiz installed, or I assume that it is touchwiz, even though it wont support the Accuweather S4 widget and other Samsung apps. What I was trying to do - I was going to install the Touchwiz launcher and the Accuweather widget from this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2259228
It seems that it supports a large number of devices. However, when I rebooted into recovery and tryed to install the zips, I got an error message: Installation aborted. I googled a bit and found that some recoveries demand the zip files to be signed. I signed the zip files, rebooted again into recovery, and this time, the installation started, the progress bar started filling and suddenly it aborts the installation with this error message: "Invalid OTA package missing scatter". I tryed to google how to fix that problem, but I am unable to find a solution. There are some topics on this matter regarding the flashing of ROMs, but I just wanted to flash the launcher and the widget. I also found a topic saying that it might be because the Recovery demands Busybox to be installed, so I also installed Busybox, but the problem is still there. I also tried installing other recoveries via Mobileuncle Tools, but none of them worked, so I swithched back to the factory one, which is called Android system recovery 3e. Anyone have any clue how I can fix this? If there is a way to install zips without rebooting into recovery, I could try that, but I dont know if that is possible.
Here's the link for my phones ROM, maybe it could help you out to understand my issue:
http://www.needrom.com/download/pomp-w88a/
Thanks in advance. I would appreciate anyone's help.
P.S. I already started a new thread in XDA Assist, so just to let you know that I am not spamming. It came up that it was my mistake, cause I posted the question on the wrong thread.

Expert Help Really Needed Please Guys

Hi all,
I'm new to the forum, and in need of your expert skills.
A good friend of mine has given me their Tablet to try and fix.
Hannspree SN14T71.
The tablet had to be factory reset and ever since that was done, we can't get google play to work. looking into this more and via the Manufacture website there is an update that can be installed on the device. i have downloaded the update.img file from their site and attempted to install it by simply copying the image to the device and rebooting. this obviously didn't work. i then tried to force the update via the recovery console for the android device. again the .img file wasn't found (although its there). again i tried to copy the file into a folder (OTA folder) to see if it picked this up. again failed as it couldn't see the file. giving up I looked at the "about device" and a error flagged up..
"invalid ROM ID (Hannstar 133-europe-1.1.4)!"
I i have very little if any knowledge of OTA Rom files, updating, installing etc. and looking to you experts in hope i can get this puppy back up and running. the system details are below.. (i hope this is of some help). is there another compatible OTA ROM that can be used? is there a set by step guide on installing this? or even a more up to date stock ROM for the device? I've really hit a brick wall with this and getting help from the manufacture is like getting blood out of a stone.
I would appreciate anyone's help right now. thanks in advance guys. really appreciate any help you can give.

CM-13.0-20160206-NIGHTLY-i9100 problems

Recently (a month ago) I upgraded from Android 5.0 (something) to the above NIGHTLY from Cyanogenmod, this was done via my Clockwork Mod recovery program after following all the prerequisites stated. The upgrade went thru without a hitch, or so I thought!!
I noticed that the Recovery program that I was left with after the initial upgrade was a very basic Cyanogenmod Recovery, with very few and basic options. The problems came to light when an OTA upgrade was attempted to a newer version of the same. The upgrade failed using the Updater giving an 'Error' in Cyanogenmod Recovery, the same result occurs even after trying a manual update.
I then tried using Odin and Heimdall to try and flash a different recovery program to replace the existing, still with no success. Getting errors like 'Failed to complete write' or 'Can't open USB or Serial Port'.
Even after reading and trying info in countless of threads in Forums etc. etc. I still have no result. So basically I'm stuck with a phone that I can't upgrade the software or install additional zipped Apps ... nothing!!
Also the system software is telling me that my phone is 'Rooted', but when I try and install APK's, like Titanium Backup for example, the program tells me that it won't work because the phone isn't rooted???
When it comes to Android techo stuff I have to admit that I'm an absolute noob, but I would really appreciate some layman terms help with this problem.
Appreciate it!!

Long story short, you will have to do the following :
You will have to flash an IsoRec recovery first, resize /system partition (optional), format /system /data and /cache and then install CM 13 and gapps (optional) manually.
Read this thread before you proceed:
[GUIDE][NOOB-FRIENDLY]Want to update to CM13? Read this first!
Make sure you've read the whole thread before you proceed!
Scroll down that link I posted till you see "If you forgot to flash Isorec Recovery when upgrading, this is what you can do:" This is what you need to do to fix your phone.
I personally prefer the Odin method.
