https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M45u5I1dr4Y - Just use the files you downloaded for the 10.1 version. Make sure the version you downloaded is the same or a newer version. Downgrading most newer Samsung devices is typically a bad idea.

[Q] [Troubleshoot] Can't root or unroot my phone

About a month ago I rooted my Samsung Galaxy Grand(the single sim version) with the help of Klingo Root, worked like a charm and had no problems at all. I even uninstalled all the bloatware samsung and the carrier had installed. About 3 weeks ago then an official update poped-up, so I updated my phone through Samsung Kies. Everything went fine, but after the reboot of the phone I noticed that all the bloatware was back, so I just figured, maybe i have to uninstall it again.
But then disaster struck SuperU said there is no SU Binary installed, so I though could have the update unrooted my phone? So I tried rooting it again with Klingo, doesn't work, I tried Framaroot, doesn't work either, I even tried to install Clockworkmod with Odin and it doesn't work. I even repeated the procedure while factory resetting my phone.
Has anyone else encountered this? It seems my phone is somewhere in between being unrooted and rooted? Everything else works fine.
Help! I just want to uninstall the carrier bloatware!

When you update your software it actually update your firmware. So the previous method will not work for this firmware.
1. you need to do it with different method if developers found it for you
2. just installed previous version of android .
3. May be fixed by factory reset..
4. You can even install prerooted custom rom like CM11
As per my experience new update will not that much compactible for all phones..
Hi, I'll start from the beginning, so I have a smart phone vodafone 2 (Alcatel V860) I wanted to upload the new software but accidentally I uploaded a backup of the tablet, after uploading the backup phone can not be connected as the flash mode, or in any way, you can not enter the recovery can not in any way connect the computer, the phone is as if dead. when I connect it to the computer when it is turned off the sound indicating that a new device has been detected, however, this software can not be installed. I hope that there will be a magician who already had a similar problem and knows what to do. Please help as soon as possible, if anyone knows what's going on I can talk about it on skype because it seems to me that it will be hard to even describe.
Thanks in advance.

[Q] GT-I9000, failed rooting, how to get back to 2.3.6?

Hello all!
I am a really n00b with rooting and cutom ROMs and I wanted to try this with my old Samsung Galaxy S (GT-I9000) phone. Of course it failed and I managed to brick my phone but after lot of searching and trying I managed to unbrick it After this process I ended up with version 2.2.1 and I would like to know how to get back to version 2.3.6.
This is what I have done so far.
1) I updated my I9000 to version 2.3.6 using Kies.
2) I rooted my phone with CWM but I think that I used too recent version of Odin and got to bootloop.
3) After many tries and scouring the web for information I managed to unbrick my phone.
4) Unbricking ended up my phone being of version 2.2.1.
5) After some tries I managed to connect my phone to Kies again as I wanted to get my phone back to version 2.3.6 but Kies said that my phone was already up to date.
Now I don't know how to proceed.
I wanted to get back to 2.3.6 preferably with stock ROM as I read that after that it is much less risky to proceed to version 4+ than if I tried to do it straight from version 2.2.1.
Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

Just need to find the file for 2.3.6 for your phone and region and presumably just like you did for 2.2.1. Use Odin 1.85 and put the firmware file that is in .tar or tar.md5 format into the PDA slot.
You can go here: http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/ and search for your phone and download the appropriate file. There might be a quicker download mirror in the XDA forum for your phone.

[Q] How to root Galaxy Mega 6.3" gt-i9205?

Hi,
I am looking to root Galaxy Mega, have tried several topics in Galaxy Mega thread and unfortunately none of them worked, and have experienced problems like wi-fi not working, and apps crashing. I tried flashing various files via Odin, then installing SuperSU via ClockworkMod recovery, the app gets installed although doesn't grant me root, SuperSU was saying "The SU binary needs to be updated.", although the updating process failed. I also had green text "set warranty bit: kernel" and two red lines whilst mobile was starting, also after the system booted i was getting a Security notice saying :The device has detected an application attempting to perform actions that are not permitted.
I restored the phone via Kies back to its original condition.
Could you please post a step by step guide on how to root Galaxy Mega 6.3" gt-i9205 (android version 4.2.2).
Thank you very much!

I cannot help you with any guide but I also had a hard time looking for a working method to root my mega, so i decided to flash a custom rom instead.
I have MegaFire installed and it is pre-rooted so no worries on how to root, besides, it's a great rom to try.
(The two red lines are normal for rooted phones since it changes something about the kernel)
Goodluck.

Can't root Samsung Galaxy S3 i9300

I've tried couple of things.
Used ODIN to install CWM and TWRP tar file, ODIN said it passed but the recovery menu was still the same.
Used towelroot and it said that the device is not supported, have tried the click 3 times welcome to towelroot and changed the codes but same not supported message.
The only thing that i could do is Kingo ROOT but should I? Some people here said that they are malware which i dunno if its true or not. And i did it at first but it said that i should backup stuff before i root it for protection against BRICK.
Tips and tricks somebody?
Again, i'm using Samsung Galaxy S3 i9300 (I guess its the International version, i'm not bound by a phone company)
Go read the sticky thread in general forum, or the search box.

Information overload when looking through threads, need help

Just picked up a Verizon Samsung Galaxy S4 SCH-I545. The Wifi stopped working after a factory reset. Read that the name of a config file may need changed.
Could someone help me with the best instructions for rooting this phone or any other troubleshooting to get the WiFi to work again?

Root with kingroot. Make sure it's kingroot and not kingo root. Kingo root is a mess. You can also root with wonder share so you can use superSU right off the bat instead of kingroot. As for the Wi-Fi , the only thing I can recommend is rooting then installing stang5litre ROM which is touchwiz based due to the locked bootloader. You can use flash fire with any firmware, given it is the right version and I think safe strap recovery with an older firmware.
