[Solved] i605 Verizon Note II stuck on "Samsung GALAXY Note II" screen - Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note II

I have a Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note 2 i605 that had stock non-rooted 4.1.2. It was running perfectly, etc. I took the Verizon OTA update and now the unit hangs on the "Samsung GALAXY Note II" B&W screen. (took it OTA, not via Odin, etc) In most cases this probably would be an easy fix per the forums but this appears to be a challenging one. Here's what I have tried:
Unit will not boot into recovery, just stays on the "Samsung GALAXY Note II" screen constantly when holding Home, Volume UP, then Power on at a powered off state.
It WILL boot into Odin/recovery mode just fine with the Home, Volume DOWN, then Power at a powered off state.
I have tried rebooting from Odin mode but still hangs.
I have let it set several hours, hang still exists.
I have tried with KIES to use it's recovery but it appears the i605 is not one of the supported models for KIES recovery.
I have installed Odin 3.09 and 3.07 and tried flashing 4.4.2 again (I605VRUFND7), using the correct PIT file to fix partitioning, etc. Both complete successfully with a PASS!/Green block (after 8 minutes). After the auto reboot it still comes up to the "Samsung GALAXY Note II" screen and hangs. Recovery mode still does not work.
Someone recommended to try an older OTA to see if it would work just in case the bootloader didn't get updated due to the failed OTA, etc. Other factory images for the Note 2 will not flash properly. The 4.3's will not even start to flash. The 4.1.2 will flash but comes up with the string error which I have determined by reading online that the bootloader was in fact updated.
I saw where some programmed a cache clearing/data wipe app that can be used with Odin for several other phones but do not see it for the Note II. Be nice to try something like that since I can not get into Recovery to wipe data/cache.
Anything that I'm missing?
Thanks for any help,

I would personally take it to Verizon. Explain what you did, I wouldn't mention flashing with Odin just in case. Tell them you excepted the OTA and now you phone will not boot.. They will more than likely give you a replacement..

Galaxy Note 10.1 stuck on "Samsung Galaxy Note" screen

Dear all.
First of all, thanks for your attention, I really appreciate.
I have a GNote 10.1 Wi-Fi version (N8013) with stock Android 4.1.
My S-Pen was getting me crazy, because I was not able to use it correctly on the edges of the device. I tried an app that supposed to reset the alignment, but I did not work, so I googled and found that the only way to fix it was "factory reseting" the tablet.
So, I installed the TeamWin recovery and backed up my data. After that I hit the button "reboot". But before rebooting, the recovery screen "told me" that I was not rooted and "asked" if I would like to install SuperSU to get root access. I checked YES and rebooted.
After that I got stucked at the "Samsung Galaxy Note" screen (see attached file).
I've tried to switch off the note, but the screen goes off for one second and it lights up again at the same screen.
If I plug the USB cable and try to switch it off, the note goes to the battery charging screen. If I remove the USB and push the power button again, the tablet gets back to the "Samsung Galaxy Note" screen.
Odin seems to "connect" with the tablet.
I can enter both the download mode and the recovery mode (not the teamwin recovery).
Attached pictures of what I get.
Any sugestions?
Thanks!!!
Everything is ok now
Dear all,
Hope I can help you if you have a problem similar to mine.
I remembered that a PC with no OS stops on some screen, but everything else works, just as what was happening with my note.
I tought that I might have wiped more things than I should, so, the only thing I had to do was to restore the backup that I had.
To do this I should reinstall the TWRP and the only way was via Odin.
Solved the problem this way:
1. Downloaded the Odin (http://techbeasts.com/2013/08/08/download-odin-pc-latest-version-v-3-07/)
2. Downloaded the TWRP file (http://techerrata.com/get/twrp2/p4noterf/openrecovery-twrp-2.6.1.0-p4notewifi.tar)
3. Connected the Galaxy Note to my PC using the USB cable
4. Entered the "download mode"
5. Loaded the file from step 2 into the tablet using Odin
6. Rebooted the tablet
7. Entered the recovery mode (TWRP was working)
8. Restored the backup that I had
9. Rebooted again
Did the dance of victory!!!
I am so glad to have my device back.
Regards

@ agelcer: Was your tablet rooted?
Hello. I havea similar problem with my note 2 phone. It will not get past the
samsung screen. My cpu knowledge is very limited. Are you open to accepting payment for attempting to fix my cell phone? All I want is the pictures off of it if that is all you can do to it. Pleass email me at [email protected] if you or anyone you know can help. Thanks....Jay
Same thing is happening to mine. I tried Odin but after the download the srceen goes black and then comes back to the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 screen.
Hello folks.
Same problem here with a n8000.
It had the stock unrooted rom probably JellyBean.
Can only access Download Mode, nothing else.
I get connection to Odin, tried to flash original firmware, 4 file firmware, re-partition with pit file, flash a custom recovery, all seem to pass through but nothing changes, still stuck on 'Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1' screen, never moves on to boot animation and still can't access Recovery Mode.
However, something else I triy with Odin and it FAILS is ticking 'Nand Erase All'. It won't let me erase nand.
Could this mean some kind of memory corruption?
Does it have anything to do with EMMC?
If it does, is there a possible way to fix without replacing the hardware?
What else can I try before giving up?
It would be nice if other users who report this problem attempt to Nand Erase All and see if it also FAILS..
Thanks alot and sorry for the long post.
Edit: after posting I found this which is PROBABLY THE SOLUTION for me.
And here is another topic on this issue.
did you find the solution?

I assumed from my searches the solution would be JTAG or replace the EMMC.
Since I don't have the resources for any of those, I just abandoned it to the dust and rust..

I'm not very clear about bootloader upgrading, but I guess it was included in the 4 file firmware I tried flashing and it said 'success' but nothing changed..
I think it ain't just a softbrick since I can't erase nand..
What's your background, osirisx69?
This happened to ours as well just today. Unplugged it rebooted it and it's stuck. Can only access the Odin mode.

[Q] Soft Bricked ATT Galaxy Note 2 SGH-I317, no way out of samsung note ii screen

Hello everyone,
I was originally on stock 4.3 rom.
I wanted to unlock my ATT Galaxy note 2 so I downgraded to 4.1.1, went to service menu and did the unlock, and it was fine. I then decided to do an update through att servers, which it downloaded and installed. However, after installing, it rebooted to the "Samsung Galaxy Note II" screen, and won't go past that.
I decided to put the 4.1.1 rom that worked on it via odin, and this installed fine, but it still wouldn't go past the "Samsung Galaxy note II" screen.
I then proceeded to using Samsung Kies and did Emergency Recovery. It downloads 4.1.2 firmware on my computer, but when it comes time to put it on to my Galaxy note 2, the phone (in download mode of course) reads at the top "unsupported version" , and kies on my computer tells me "the installation failed due to the samsung sgh-i317 device. Please contact Samsung Services if this problem proceeds."
I did notice however, after using kies, even though it fails, and pressing the power button the "Samsung Galaxy Note II" logo screen does not appear, and the phone just show the screen that says "firmware upgrade encountered an issue. please select recovery mode in kies and try again". I then decided to put the 4.1.1 again thinking that maybe this time it will work, but nope just goes back to "samsung galaxy note II" screen and does nothing. Now, I can use kies to go back to "firmware upgrade encountered an issue. please select recovery mode in kies and try again" or use the 4.1.1 to go back to "Samsung Galaxy Note II" screen and just sit there.....
I don't care about unlocking the phone or not anymore. I don't care about having custom rom or anything. All I want is the original Stock rom 4.3 from AT&T. Can anyone please help me?????
Also, I have been using odin 3.7, the rom that i used that worked (the 4.1.1) is called: KIES_HOME_I317UCALJ2_I317ATTALJ2_215287_REV04_user_low_ship.tar.md5
my phone reads this in download mode:
Odin mode
Product Name: SGH-I317
Custom Binary Download: Yes (1 counts)
Current Binary: Custom
System Status: Custom

Got same problem
I am in the same boat. I got OTA to 4.3 and I went and downgraded to 4.1.1 to unlock and update and got stuck with error. Can't restore or do anything with the phone now. In ODIN, it got stuck with sboot.bin. It stuck at bootloader.
Thanks.

same thing happened to my note 2 i317. it was running on 4.4.2, downgrade it to 4.1.1, successfully unlock it. but my son tried to update it ota. now its stuck on Samsung logo and won't get to recovery mode. I tried flashing the 4.1.1 firmware again but it just won't pass the Samsung logo and cant get it to recovery mode. please help me
For unlock i371 we have 2 ways:
1)If your phone have 4.1.2 or less you jast need to try unlock codes:
*#197328640#
Select [1] UMTS > [1] Debug Screen > [8] Phone Control > [6] Network Lock > Options [3]Perso SHA256 OFF >After choosing this option, wait about 30 seconds.
Then go back one step by pressing the Menu button and then select Back.
This will take you to [6] Network Lock options
Choose [4] NW Lock NV Data INITIALLIZ
Wait for a minute then reboot your phone.
Insert a SIM Card from a non-AT&T carrier
IF it not help to you, you need downgroad FW.
2) if you have 4.2.2 or more(4.3, 4.4.2.)
You need to wach this video and unlock your device! youtube.com/watch?v=KVrhNO__9JY
You need downgroad MODEM FW(NOT ANDROID VERSION!!!) and use *#197328640# from 1 step.
Have fun!
thank u very much

stuck on twrp logo after reset

My phone is a verzon note 2 on deodox 4.3 with twrp recovery. The phone only boots to teamwin logo and flickers on and off. my computer will not recognize my phone either at this point. This is what happened. Ive been having some 4g lte loss and unstable wifi issues to i decided to do a factoty reset. when i rebooted into recovery i was stuck at the twrp logo and it would constantly bootloop the twrp logo.. I restarted my phone and did a factory reset from under the general setting. At that point it rebooted int the twrp but continued to just stay at the logo and would not go into recovery. I pulled the battery and restarted the phone but from that point on it would only boot into the twrp logo and stay there. I can get into download mode but my pc (win7) no longer recognizes the phone so i cant attempt to fix this in odin. Im not sure what to do to get this phone to work properly at this point.

My guess is that when you rooted with CASUAL, it changed the Samsung device driver on your computer and you need to reinstall the Samsung driver to get the computer to recognize the phone again in download mode.
Underneath step 7 of section 1b on Droidstyle's restore guide, he discusses issue with CASUAL replacing the Samsung driver... and he gives a link to Jeremy Loper's fix... "If odin no longer recognizes your device, most likely Casual killed the driver for odin!! follow this tutorial for restoring the driver: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zzghcV8HVVk"
Once the computer recognizes the phone again, you should be able to use ODIN to restore back to 4.1.2 so you can root/unlock again with CASUAL. After you get the phone restored with Odin, I would recommend booting into Stock Recovery and wiping cache/doing factory reset before running Casual again... this would enure you are starting over with a totally clean slate.
If the above doesn't work, then here's a thread where I tried to help someone else who couldn't get their computer to recognize the phone.... maybe some of those ideas will help - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=55833998
Good luck!!
1 step forward two steps back. I got my pc /odin to recognizes my note 2(changed usb cords). Then tried to odin back to stock 4.1.2. At first odin kept saying (odin not responding) and would ask to close the program, after several attemps i final got it to flash the 4.1.2 file. When i flashed the file and was at the point where it reboots, it would not get past the samsung note 2 logo and continued to flicker and not boot up even when i tried to put it into download mode like it said to in this thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2024207. When i tried to reflash the file it failed. when i attempted again it just hangs at setupconnection. Tried again and it failed. Btw thanks for the help mattnmag.
Got it working! i simply forgot to place the sch-i605 pit. into the pit section of odin when i flashed the 4.1.2 rom.
Similar problems
I was running AllianceROM 26. My phone had been spontaneously rebooting for a bit recently. Today, it started to spontaneously reboot again, but this time, it never got past the Galaxy Note 2 screen. After pulling the battery, I tried to boot into TWRP. It just hangs on the twrp boot screen for a few minutes but never goes into twrp.
I figured I would try taking it back to stock. So, I used ODIN to try and put 4.1.2 on it and a new PIT file. That appeared to work fine. I got no errors in ODIN. However, I still cannot get this thing to get past these boot screens, either the Galaxy Note 2 one or TWRP when I try that there. I have tried this twice now, once with re-partition checked and another time with re-partition unchecked (saw conflicting instructions on that so I figured I would try it both ways). I still am not getting past the boot screen.
Any help or ideas are appreciated as right now, my phone appears to be bricked and I am out of ideas.
so what was the solution to the teamwin flashing on and off after a factory reset? this is certainly not a solution, having to reflash the phone...

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 SM-T21OR stuck at Samsung Logo screen

My Samsung Galaxy Note 3 SM-T21OR is stuck at the Samsung Logo screen
The device was already rooted with TWRP on it when I got use the hard code to get into TWRP mode. There are no files. when I go to recover or reboot anything it tells me there is NO OS.
So I tried using Download mode with ODIN to re-root the device as well as completely reset the device using the official Samsung firmware from Samsung Mobile. Both give me failure's when trying to root through ODIN.
When using the stock firmware provided by Samsung Mobile the furthest the ODIN process makes it to is KERNAL then goes to failure. Here is a screenshot of the results: http://imgur.com/jmD3pLu
When I try using the custom TWRP root tar md5 filed I get failure stating "There is no PIT Partition
Here is a screenshot: http://imgur.com/V4wjhJW
I am fairly certain the USB port or Cable is not an issue as I have tried several different ones.
Any suggestions on anything else I can do to solve this issue.

S6 Edge Stuck in bootloop - can't flash stock rom

UPDATE: I got stock firmware flashed on it, but as soon as it finished, it just stuck in the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge boot screen, and it won't even allow me to access recovery mode so I can wipe cache and whatnot. I'm running out of patience with this brick of a phone. It just goes straight to the same boot screen, not allowing me to get to the recovery mode. Are there any alternative ways to enter recovery mode, or alternative ways to wipe cache and partition? Please, any advice is welcomed.
Thanks in advance.
Try different odin version and cable before you messing with pit.
Sent from my SM-N920C
I had tried using three different versions of Odin, 3.07, 3.09, 3.106. I also used multiple cords and multiple versions of stock roms. And still, no success. It won't even stay off, every time it juices up, or is plugged in, it goes straight to the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge boot screen and stays there.
Mind you, I am not too familiar with anything outside of stock roms, some custom roms and rooting. Have not tested out much more than that. Any noob-friendly advice would be welcomed.
I had nand write start error once during downgrading my s6 from 6.0.1 to 5.1.1. I just tried odin 3.10 and it got flashed successfully. I was lucky then.
Sent from my SM-N920C
Well, I finally got one of the firmwares to work, it ran through Odin and everything just fine, but after it was done, it basically did the same thing, it stayed on the Samsung black screen, except without the red writing at the top..

Enter recovery and factory reset

I can't access recovery, the phone won't turn off, so as soon as it has any source of battery life, it just goes straight to the samsung boot screen and stays there.
Hold vol down+power button for 15-20sec. As soon as it reboot, hold vol up+power+home button to enter recovery.
Sent from my SM-N920C
I've tried that at least 50-ish times now, It just does not work, I tried it with a second or two delay, I tried it immediately after screen turns off, tried it so many times. No matter how long I hold them down for, it just stays at the boot screen. I can get to download mode just fine, but for some reason recovery seems to not be working.
is it a bootloop (it keeps restarting or it is frozen on samsung logo) ?
if bootloop you can try: plug in power corde. press and hold both volume buttons + home + power untill it shuts down. unplug power corde. press and hold home volume down and power for download mode. get another rom and flash it.
Hi i am having exactly the same problem can boot to download but not recovery, let the phone run out of battery and as soon as you plug it in again bootloop, i was running crisscross marshmallow rom ,custom kernel i have a backup but am not sure what or how to flash correctly in Odin any help would be much appreciated thanks .
Edit flashed firmware from sammobiles worked a treat .
Any updates on this?
I have this exact problem however I never attempted rooting my phone or changing anything on the firmware, I was on YouTube when my s6 edge crashed then entered boot loop, I CANNOT ACCESS recovery mode ,but I can access Odin mode. WTF everything is stock on my phone, never even heard of 'bootloop, Odin mode' before this happened .or even had to access my recovery mode on my s6. As I search the web for help I find solutions that require recovery mode, but I can access it. Apparently bootloop happens when people try to root but I never tired that. I don't even know what that is!
This just happened to my S6. Was watching YouTube then it crashed and entered a boot loop, can't access recovery, only download mode.
