After running Casual, Odin can't see phone in download mode.. - Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note II

Works fine until i put it in download mode.
Any thoughts?

Need to remove the Casual drivers when done with it and download the samsung drivers for our phone from samsungs site. Happen to us all.
Took me a few install and Uninstalls of samsung drivers till my PC was able to see my phone in download mode. Make sure you reboot after install. It was a pain in the butt.

Where do i find the casual drivers at, to remove?
Casual isnt even seeing my phone anymore. Very annoying.
I had to odin back, using another laptop - need to casual again, but cant even do that. I looked in "uninstall programs" in windows but dont see anything other than Samsung's install.
Let me know what to look for, would be a huge help. Thanks!

You could try running System Restore on your laptop and restore things to a point right before you ran casual. I have done that and it restored the Samsung drivers and allowed the phone and computer to communicate again so I could use Odin.

Ugh. Okay. I hope that works. System Restore never seems to work when i need it.
Thank you sir..

Edit: Here's a link for a Youtube video that walks you through how to fix this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zzghcV8HVVk&feature=youtube_gdata_player
I found it on DroidStyle's Guide here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2024207
If your computer doesn't resinstall the drivers for you after you follow the Youtube instructions, then you could try reinstalling them by grabbing them from Samsungs's website here: http://www.samsung.com/us/support/owners/product/SCH-I605MSAVZW.

[Q] Odin issue

I can not get Odin to "See" my phone when it is in download mode!!!! I can get my phone into download mode without any issue. I can mount the phone as a mass storage drive without a problem. Any suggestions would be GREAT!!!
Which version of Odin are you using?
Do you have the drivers installed? Does it show up in device manager?
The best thing for you to do here is to download AIO Vibrant Toolbox. It comes with all of the drivers that you need and will allow you to put your Vibrant straight into download mode without the need for the button combinations. It comes with a good version of Odin and everything.
Give it a try and let me know if you have any more problems putting it into download mode.
Another problem that I ran into when putting my phone into Download Mode was the cable connections. The phone that I had second hand was a bit worn and I had to fiddle with the connector to get it all secure. Try another cable if you've got one lying around.

Yes, the drivers are installed.
Yes, I can get to that screen.
I am using AIO Vibrant Toolbox. I used the drivers with that for an x64 system, did not work. I found newer versions of the drivers, still not working.
The weird part about all of this is that I had this working, on this computer, the last time I flashed ROM.
Reboot your computer. Try a different usb port. If that doesn't work try a different cable like chadhoard said. I had one that got loose and wouldn't make contact anymore.

I tried those things, other then a different cable. I do not believe it is the cable, because I can mount the phone as a mass storage device without any issues.
Hm... Different computer then maybe?

I am going to try that later. Someone on another forum suggested disabling driver signature. Still fuzzy on how to do that, plus it is my work computer, so I do not want to screw anything up by doing that.
If the drivers are already installed I don't think driver signature should matter. Is that the computer you used before?

Any suggestions on how to make that I remove every last bit of the drivers off the computer?? I will just try re-installing them.
Depending on how you initially installed the drivers there should be an uninstall entry in Add/Remove Programs.
This is what I've always used to install the drivers. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=728929

[Q] Rooting and flashing from stock issues

I've run a search through this forum and cant seem to find the answers I'm looking for. I am not new to flashing or rooting (except for this device) so this is very perplexing. I've tried to use odin to flash a custom rom, but it doesn't connect in download mode, however when the player is rebooted and on my home screen it connects to odin and says ready blah blah blah... Is this normal? My phones need to be in download mode to connect and flash, so what is going on here? USB debugging is active, I even allowed non marketplace apps in hopes that might do it, no go. Also can't seem to get Super One Click to recognize the device either.

Also if you have kies running, disable all the process with the name kies on it (it can cause problems with odin).

Still nothing, man this device blows lol
It cant be good to flash outside of download mode correct? I'd rather not brick my mp3 player, it gets me through my day lol

There's always heimdall (which is better than odin but kind of harder the first time you install it). But what is the version of your odin (just knowing).

Oh well, it should work. I don't know why it don't work though as I'm not on windows I can't really tell.
1) Restart computer and try again
2) Use a different USB port
3) Go into your Task Manager (alt, ctrl, delete) and disable anything in the process tab that mentions kies in it's title
4) Try another usb cord

[Q] Can't get Odin to recognize US 5.0 Gplayer

Hello all,
I appreciate your help. This is my first post, and i'm really struggling here.
Thank you for all of your time in responding.
First off, I have done a lot of research on how this is supposed to work and so I can't find out what is going wrong.
I have a Gplayer 5.0. I can currently connect it to the computer and take files off it, etc. So i believe my drivers are fine right now.
I have rooted my gplayer and it works fine. I can use superuser, CWM, etc.
However, I cannot get Odin to recognize my device in download mode. I have no idea what the problem could be.
I can give more details if necessary, but I don't know what else to tell you guys.
Thank you!

It wouldn't detect on my desktop, I think because I plugged it in and accidentally unplugged it, and the drivers became corrupted ever since, I tried it on my laptop and everything worked perfectly, I'm not sure if it matters but my desktop was running W8 and my Laptop W7
Try removing and reinstaling all drivers and using other usb port..that helped me few times when that happend for no logical reason.

I have tried everything please help

Computer wont recognize my device anymore. I have downloaded every set of drivers from this forum, from the samsung website, I even tried downloading kies but it wouldnt recognize it either.
It worked before I did the following and now it doesnt.
First I rooted my phone with route 66 everything was going fine until I made the huge mistake (not knowing) and downloaded rom manager so that I could do a nandroid backup. Well as we all know now, you cant do that. So I got the deadly uellow verizon triangle saying unauthorized software bring it to the store. So I went through the xda forums and found the one that told me how to fix it. I used odin with the alternate restore and got it back up and running. So I wanted to go back and use adams one click unlock and root. I got everything downloaded and ready. I put my phone in developer mode and plugged it in. It starts trying to find the drivers and then it flips from debugger mode to media mode everytime. It starts seeing it as everything but a samsung phone. It says found camera and even cd rom but not the phone. I have read through everything and tried everything I could think of but I am at a loss. PLEASE HELP

I tried that, it is still not seeing it like it is supposed to. I was able to get Odin to recognize it so that I could flash the rooted stock again but I can't get Casual Jailbreak to work. I'm not sure if it is because the drivers or not but I am guessing it has something to do with it. Every time I plug it in, it starts searching for drivers and then always switches from usb debugging mode to media mode. The checkmark is still in usb debugging but I don't think it actually is. You can watch it go from device as installer to media.
Are you using the driver install app (zadig i think its called) to install the heimdall driver on top of "gadget serial". Looking at your other post it seems like a driver issue. One thing ive noticed is, if odin can see the device then heimdalll cant and vice/versa. So if odin can see it you have the wrong driver, if you are infact installing the heimdall driver my second question is, does windows xp x64 use driver sig enforcement like win7 x64 does? if so you probably need to disable it. Just throwing my $0.02 out there.
Are you using the official USB cable? I had an aftermarket cable that had worked for months, then decided to quit working. It works with other devices just not the Note2. Changed to my original cable and all is well.

If it sees the device in the dumb verizon cd mode thing and ptp than it can see adb. Its not the cable. however i would try setting the usb debugging first than set it to camera mode. adb should still be able to pick it up

[Q] Deleting Cryption Meta Data, Need Help

Hey guys,
So I posted on here awhile back ago with a problem of a boot loop on my SGH-i777 and I never got around to repairing it till now, I went down to Best Buy and got a new phone maybe 2-3 days after I got the boot loop.
I ran into the "Deleting Cryption Meta Data" problem and was told to follow this thread. But I'm having a hard time understanding it, so I went around searching a bit more and found someone with the same problem (here's that thread).
I read that he was having a hard time understanding what's supposed to be done, so I thought someone would explain it to him a bit more.

So I go to that post, start to follow the instructions thinking I'm finally gonna get this thing to work. Well, no..
I downloaded the latest version of Odin, I downloaded the "I777UCKH7-CL503881-Full.exe", then like the thread said. I unzipped, ran the .exe and put my SGH-i777 into download mode. But when it's in download mode, supposedly in Odin "the small edit box in the upper left corner will turn yellow, and say something like [0:COM8]"
and mine doesn't do anything.. my computer recognizes something is plugged in, so it plays the noise. But nothing else happens.
Am I supposed to put something in the "Bootloader", "PDA", "PHONE" or the "CSC" box's? I don't really need this phone, but I still don't want to brick it and ruin it. I'm starting Application Development in school this year, so I was hoping to use my S2 for tests and what not, instead of my S3.

First, the file you were directed to download is a "one-click downloader."
I777UCKH7-CL503881 FULL Odin3 One-click Downloader: I777UCKH7-CL503881-Full.7z (Contains I777UCKH7-CL503881-Full.exe.)
This means that the executable file contains both Odin, and the firmware package compiled into one. You therefore do not need a stand alone Odin package to use this. The One-click downloader interface does not have the slots, "Bootloader", "PDA", "PHONE" or the "CSC" where you can insert files. Maybe that will clear up some confusion.
Secondly, the way you describe your problem, it sounds like you do not have the correct USB driver installed on your computer. Please go to the Windows dialog for "Add Remove Programs" or in Windows 7 "Uninstall a program." Look for SAMSUNG USB Driver for Mobile Phones. If that is not present, then you must install the driver. You could get it directly from Samsung, or perhaps download it from this thread. If that is present, and you still can't get Odin to add the phone, then you should uninstall the driver, reboot windows, reinstall the latest driver, and reboot windows again, and then retry Odin.

I'll be sure to do that, I did an install right before plugging in my SGH and the last time I was having issue's my PC would do the same thing (I've recently formatted my laptop and reinstalled Windows 7). Kind of makes me think it could be something wrong with my phone's USB Port. But I'll try one more time and report back.

If the USB driver is installed and working correctly, then the problem is most likely in the connection between the phone and the computer. Yes, possibly the usb port on the phone, but it could be the cable, or the usb port on the computer as well.
