Hello guys everyone were worried about the data issue in cm11 so here I am with the fix for that
Please not I am not at all responsible for any damage to device Please be careful
Bug:
No data connection even after installing the fix
It works for some people that too only 3G
Fix: First install the data fix if you haven't Installed
Open dialer and type *#*#4636#*#*
Open the phone information
And In network mode change it to GSM only if you are in 2G network and when you want to use 3G set it to WCDMA only
And voila data will be working fine
TIP: when you want to use 3g in sim1 and it is using 2g then change the sim slot and in second sim slot you will get forced 3g(only 3g works) and when switching back to stock you will always find the option to set the preferred type . so you can enjoy data both on CM11 and stock without and issues
Hit thanks if you like my work
Thank you

Do one thing remove SIM 1 and dial the code set it as GSM only and then insert back sim1 and check it should be working. Since it won't support both 3g (which is set by default)

I'm unable to use WhatsApp on 3G, but it works fine on Wi-Fi.
So far, I've tried:
1) Restore to factory default, flashing a new ROM, resetting APN, re-installing WhatsApp, rebooting, re-insert SIM Card
2) Using my SIM Card on my other phone (Note 2) and it works fine, but not on my S3.
3) Calling my service provider -- they said the fault's not with them.
I'm on CM 10.2 stable. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

I installed the Snapshot version of cm-11-20140504-SNAPSHOT-M6-i9300.zip and also the GApps for Android 4.4.2 (ART Compati
ble). After that the Whatsapp, Skype, Viber can't send messages using Mobile Data but all the 3 works fine in Wifi. How can i get this fixed ? I tried searching all over the forums, i tried changing the Runtime from "Use Dalvik to Use ART", restarted the phone, tried to use Whatsapp - no go. :crying:
Is there a solution for this ?
I have an other Question. If I want backup my Chats with Email why only G-Mail want be supported? I have Outlook to and it isn't in the List?

I found this thread which suggests using another APN (may have to check with the service provider).
The apps you mentioned are all messaging/IM apps. Maybe your network is blocking them on data? This is more common than you might think.

Thanks a lot RazorMC, the problem was with the APN Settings.
Hi. Yesterday I installed latest nightly version of CyanogenMod 11. Before this, I was using [LINARO/SABERMOD] unofficial CyanogenMod 11 but I had problem with data roaming. I thought that in official build this isue had been solved. Unfortunetely, my data transfer still doesn't work. In the place where I live, there is very weak signal and I have to change my operator to another one manually. The problem is, data transfer works only with my parent network. I enabled data roaming in options menu and I edited build.prop file, where I set dataroaming=true; (although data roaming was enabled, in this file value was set as false). Tell me please, what to do. I don't want to restore stock rom.
Bump! I'm having same problem using CM11 4.4.4 (nightlies) for my S3-i9305. My carrier uses its own network but also uses another one as MVNO. Well, I connect HSDPA 3G on its own network but don't when using the MVNO, only Edge/GPRS (2G). Same happens using a SIM from another country, data works but only on Edge/GPRS (2G).
Yes, data roaming is enabled (the proof is that data works, but only 2G not 3G).
Any ideas? Thanks.
Solved
Ooops, it results it is a question of bands: the phone does not have all the bands we use here, that's it.

Hi,
Perhaps I have found a method to unlock the LS990.
I dont know, if this works with us carriers.
I have tried it with a non US carrier and it works for me.
Needed:
Root
Root Explorer
Shortcut Master
1. Replace the two files in /carriers/apps with the two files below with Root Explorer
2. Reboot your phone
3. Open Shortcut master and select search
4. Search for apn adn select com.andoird.settings.ApnSettings and then click Launch
5. Select on the Top Right new apn
6. Fill this form out with the apn from your provider (If you don't know the apn look it up in google)
Done
Now everything should work
Still to do:
Disable the Hand free activation from sprint - I have not found the right app now
In the GSM mode my phone shows only GSM in the status bar and not G E H or H+ - Does someone know how to change this?
Automatic selection of the apn, this can perhaps be done with the file /etc/apns-conf.xml
I hopeed I could help some people, if the unlock was succesfull please give me a feedback
This is at your own risk.
Please do it only, if you know what you do!
Tried and it works. Indeed shows gsm to be as well but works.

Do we have to change the permission of those files. I am unable to get gsm signal after replacing the files. Shows a small x on top of the network bar, also the APN is not sticking.

I could it only try on iternational carriers.
Perhaps everybody can write if the phone was used with sprint before and if it was activated.
My phone was not activated and I didn't use it with sprint.
I have done a factory reset before, so that everything was clear.
This is great man!!!
My phone was not activated and im now using it with a Mexican carrier (telcel) with no problems
So how many till now has been able to unlock this? Is it on a particular firmware only? Just wanting to be sure in case I buy this. Oh And is it permanent?

I located in China. I try the sims from CMCC/CU which is the two GSM carrier here and receive the same error.
I covered the two files and set the right permission same as original files, 640 and 600. I don't know what happened. I will take another LS990 to try again.

Editing the Build prop will give you a bootloops. Also we don't have a recovery yet.
So I installed Cyanogenmod 12.1 Android 5.1.1 to my Sony Xperia Z2, and after installation my phone wont connect to mobile network. Wifi works, and phonecalls work. There is exclamation mark in the signal icon, and when i connect to wifi it disappears. I didnt find any mistakes in APN. Could it be wrong baseband? Or what could it be?
Maybe internet settings are missing ? go to settings>more> internet settings> download settings for Internet and MMS. (I had the same problem but it is working fine now)

Check APN settings under the Wireless & Networking menu. You’ll find that no APN has been set. You’ll need to choose the one for your mobile operator or worse – manually enter the APN settings. After setting the APN you could need to restart your phone

I have dont that, and No help.. Could it be the baseband version problem? Im trying to install stock rom, test it if it then would work..
Call *#*#4636#*#* to enter phone settings or use this app and select Additional Info
Select Phone information
Set prefered network type to CDMA auto (PRL) and wait until your phone connects to 3G
Change prefered network to LTE/GSM/CDMA auto (PRL) maybe this works? If not I am sorry

I know it's unusual request.. the problem is i am using BSNL operator sim card.. and when on mobile data, it keeps changing it's network between 2g and 3g.. by that i keeps loosing speed...
I know one rom that support this.. ie https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-x/development/rom-lineageos-15-0-t3672662 the problem with rom is "app keep stopping" now and then..
Same gapps works fine on other ROM. Other ROMS don't have any problem like this.
So please suggest me a ROM which have option like shown in the following pic
PS: BTW i know the trick *#*#4636#*#*
