First time android poster, Long time reader! (I've not changed the rom since the days of the HTC TyTN II and HTC Universal)
I have an Asian HTC One MAX. I live in the UK and use the giffgaff network which uses 800Mhz 4G LTE o2 signal. The Asian device can pick up 900Mhz 4G LTE.
I was wondering if it was possible to flash the phone with an EU Rom, which should then pick up the 800Mhz band as I guess the hardware is all the same?
- Is this possible? If so would I flash in the normal way?
- Are there any pitfalls in doing this?
-Anything I should be aware off? Or should I just give up on trying to pick the 800Mhz band up and go EE who use other bands?
Thanks for your time

Hello,
I just received my HTC Hero today which I bought from Clove in the UK (I live in Australia). Unfortunately for me I did not notice that the phone does not support UMTS 850mhz (which is Telstra's NextG). I live in an area which I get very little or no service on the other bands and UMTS 850mhz is the only one suitable for me. I saw 850mhz frequency listed on the phone specifications and I had no idea that there was a difference between 2 850mhz frequency .
My question is, will the Hero be hackable to enable 850mhz UMTS? I've seen it happen before with the HTC Touch Diamond, so perhaps the Hero is hackable too?
Or will I have to sell this phone and wait for mainstream release in Australia with the UMTS 850mhz enabled?
Thanks.
I think this maybe will be posible in a future but not rigth now.

Sorry to bring up an old thread but I am having this issue where I work. Next G works in Perth where I live but not at work. Seems Telstra use two different bands for Next G...
Hello,
I recently bought a HTC HD2 and gotten unlocked to work with my ATT sim card also I had someone install the 2.2 Froyo Android software using Cyanogen Mod 6. Since I had the phone I have only been using Edge network and I know for sure we have 3g coverage. How can I get my 3G network to work on my phone? Please help. I am a newb when it comes to cell phones.
Thanks
Matt
someone correct me if i am wrong but the 3g bands for att and t-mo are different so even if you have 3g coverage you would only get edge. For faster speeds youll have to use wifi.
Do you have a Telstra-branded HD2? IIRC, Telstra uses the same 3G bands as AT&T. In that case you should be able to get 3G. Otherwise, the unbranded & T-Mo branded HD2s wouldn't work with AT&T 3G.

Unless you have the Telstra HD2 (there will be a T in an oval on the back bottom cover), you won't get 3G on ATT. The Telstra model is the only one with the ATT 3G band (the 850mhz UMTS band).
You will ALSO need to have 850mhz ATT coverage in the areas where you live and travel to get 3G on that model.
Hope this helps...
Hi!
I was wondering if there is a way to change that? Installing a new ROM, a software or something!! I bought the TMo HD2 and brought it to South America. Here we use the 850 MHz frequency for 3G, and I just found out the HD2 works with 3G networks in the 1700 and 2100 MHz frequencies =( Is there a way I can change that ???

thanks
Hi , I have Htc hd2 t-mobile and i sent it to the company to unlock , when i tried to use vodafone sim card it worked but the 3g service didn't work anyone could help me please really it will be very useful .
Different 3g bands? What country you in?
Egypt and i bought it from USA
I do not know what bands/frequencies your carrier uses but you more than likely will not get 3G on your HD2. You see the T-Mobile HD2 is branded to T-Mobiles 3G bands/frequencies for 3G. This is done by the hardware in the phone, so no ROM or app will allow you to get 3G if your carrier does not use the same bands/frequencies. The best you will get is Edge on your HD2.
Tmous the network uses AWS meaning it uses both the 1700 and 2100 channel, one for upload one for download. Most other networks use one for up and down.
I just purchased an AT&T branded Titan for use on T Mobile here in the USA. I didn't do my research properly and I just assumed I would get at least 3G. It seems not. However all is not lost if I can just unlock it and use it on my trips back to Scotland.
If I unlock the AT&T Titan will I have any issues just popping a UK SIM in there? Does it run better on some providers?
Thanks

You will need to check with the Carrier that you are going to use the Titan over there... and see which bands of HSDPA that they support. The UK Version of Titan seem to be supported 850/900/1900/2100 , but i don't think the AT&T version support 900 band tho. You will have to recheck.
Good Luck.
And yes, you need to get the SIM-Unlock code based on the IMEI of the phone and then you can insert any sim in and the phone will use it just fine as long as the carrier able to provide network for it.
Looks like you will only be able to use it on GPRS
UMTS/HSPA/HSPA+ tri-band (2100/1900/850 MHz) and quad band GSM/GPRS/EDGE (850/900/1800/1900 MHz) and LTE BC4/BC17
Thanks for the replies. It makes no difference to me what network I use .
I'm having a hard time understanding the differences.
If I look at this page it lists what my phone supports..
http://www.gsmarena.com/htc_titan-4027.php
Looking at this it seems my specs match up with most major UK providers
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_mobile_network_operators_of_Europe#United_Kingdom
Therefore shouldn't it work?
If it is limited to GPRS what are the limitations?
Thanks
Yep in theory it should, Just double checked and I posted specs for Titan2 oops
At&t Titan ie: Frequencies HSPA+/WCDMA 850/1900/2100 MHz and Quad-band GSM/GPRS/Edge 850/900/1900 MHz, Its missing 1800mhz for UK which basically means you cannot use T-mobile or Orange, But Vodafone or O2 or anything running 900mhz should be fine.
The 2G band list says "quad-band" but then only lists 3 bands. I'll bet that's a typo and that all 4 bands are supported.
I've used my unlocked AT&T Titan with local SIMs in numerous countries on 2100MHz 3G... works great.
I have at&t Titan from US in London with O2. Sometimes it woks fine on 3G sometimes doesn't work at all. I forced it to use only 2G and then it works fine.To force the phone Enter code ##3282# Then go to the Three blue dots on the right corner go to settings and in network type choose 2G or 3G depending on what you want.
Received my Titan 2 today from Across the pond, It's at&t branded but unlocked, It is working fine and shows 4G lol, I know it is just a 3G connection but no problems using it on O2, Had to manually input APN settings in cellular and that was it
Well that smile didn't last long, Can't send pic messages, Any ideas?
Hi AndyFZ1S have you tried the connection setup application from htc? Thats what i usedwhen i moved here and it worked fine. Still my 3g connection is poor or inexistant is most areas, i believe at&t phones are missing one band.

^@andres22, Thanks & yes have tried connection set-up but it says the carrier is not in the database etc, 3G works fine I just cannot send or receive picture messages, There is no option to manually put in the settings either so am kind of stuck really,
Uhmmm funny that my setup apolication has O2 settings and yours not. Sorry man. I cant think of anything else.

No problem, It may well be you have a different database on your at&t Titan compared to the at&t Titan2, Never mind, Hopefully there will be a way to sort it.
I'm having similar issue with Titan 2 using on T-Mobile US. MMS is the only issue. T-Mobile does carry Nokia 710 and HTC Radar. I wonder if there is a way to get settings from those phones.

The only way I can think of doing it is by flashing either a Stock Titan2 ROM (if it exists) or a custom one, That way Connection set-up would have most of the carriers in its database and not just at&t, But that won't be possible without HSPL or any ROMs, Maybe HTC could do something their end to update connection set-up etc?
I have a vodafone EU HTC ONE phone.
I have now moved to the US and am on T-Mobile.
However I can't get 4G/LTE on the phone no matter what I try (I've manually entered the fast apn)
Does anyone know if this is even possible?
Do I need to unlock the Bootloader, etc flash with the T-Mobile ROM, etc. ? Will this even work?
I do not think the Vodafone One has the T-Mobile LTE band built in. According to Wikipedia, TMo US uses the 1700MHz band for LTE. Your phone doesn't have a 1700MHz radio.
