need help with optimius g - AT&T LG Optimus G

hey all, need help. phone was boot looping, power on LG logo, power off, repeat. Installed Tinybin Alt and was able to not get into TWRP. But every time I try to install a custom rom, it fails. TWRP version 2.5.0.0. Is there a certain rom I should be trying to flash? Just looking to get phone working again. Thanks in advance.

Possible Brick HELP!!

Thank you in advance.
I just got my SGS2 back from repair today (stuck pixel) and I wanted to installe CM9. I thought I'd start with the latest CWM - the link was broken so I flashed CWM 4.0.0.8, which flashed fine.
When the phone rebooted, it sat in a loop doing nothing. I then flashed CWM 4.0.1.4, which also did not help. I attempted to wipe cache using CWM. A heap of errors scrolled down the screen. I thought I'd restore back to factory kernel and rom, which I did. I am still in bootloop and I have the following text on screen when I go to stock recovery

dunno...most likely you flash wrong rom without reading first...or your zip file not finished download....
check you file..name, actual size before flashing
I hadn't even gotten as far as flashing a ROM, to obtain root, I attempted to use CWM, that is when things went wrong
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1457458 try this even i got strucked like that wen i tried to flash custom rom
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
That would work, but multiupload is busted
Wipe data/factory reset, clear cache.. The it will start a fresh.. Then re-root if needed.. Hope this helps
This post was most of the solution. After this, I could flash an old version of CMW that worked. Following that, I could flash cyanogen mod 9. Thanks to all

HTC Desire S problem flashing BOOT.IMG

In this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1390496) it clearly states that since my device is HBOOT 2.00.002 I can't install custom rom using the old-fashioned way and I must flash BOOT.IMG from the rom.
So I did EXACTLY as dtronics said in that thread, ROOTED my device, installed CWM using ROM Manager, and then decided to flash boot.img using fastboot (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1752270).
That also completed succesfuly with no errors but now my phone continuously restarts itself into CWM. It can't start the stock rom or the custom.
then after I press (VOL+) + (POWER) keys on this Red icon screen I enter CWM
And now I can't go any further, I'm stuck. Please help!

Thanks, I did that, but it wasn't the problem. I just figured it out! The problem was in CWM.
The guide was a bit unclear so I obviously didn't flash it right. This is what I did, i flashed new CWM image using this tutorial (sorry, can't paste outside link), the best and easiest way to do this.
I was really worried I bricked the phone, now everything is working great!! :good:

Why not use 4ext recovery? 4ext recovery has a tool called HTC Smartflash for S-On devices/HTCDEV Unlocked devices that make flashing a lot easier, so you won't have to run into issues like this.

Not really familiar with using 4ext recovery so I decided to go this way. I'll be changing rom soon, since I'm trying to find the one with best battery life, so then I'll try 4ext too.

Yes, unlocking the bootloader then rooting the device will wipe it. You can perform a back up first though. The advantages of rooting are many, to numerous to list here but put simply it allows you to change just about every facet of the phone.

Stuck in recovery loop

Hi, so I ran into a problem while trying to downgrade something on my tablet. I can't remember exactly because it was a few months back. I believe it was the bootloader, but I am stuck in recovery loop now. Can anyone assist me on fixing this?

Did you try the power + volume down combo? If you can boot into download mode, you can reflash stock ROM using Odin. Else, if you have a ROM zip in your sdcard, you can make a full wipe and flash that.
BTW, can you remember what OS were you from?

True. Ran into that issue myself and odin was my saviour. Left to its own it will reboot to recovery but power+volume down give the option to boot to download mode. Use it to reflash your stock rom.

You need a more recent recovery for that. Try to sideload TWRP 2.7.1.0 from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2777161.

Your welcome lol. My guess is that your tab has no ROM in the system which is why it kept booting into recovery. But why it couldn't boot into download mode I don't know.

I am so done....

I just want to finally try and install a custom rom into my Mi A3 which I rooted a while ago. I know I need this tool called TWRP, after encountering a myriad of errors trying to follow this guide step-by-step, I finally got to the point when I need to type "fastboot boot twrp.img" to boot into TWRP temporarily. But alas that couldn't be so easy now could it... Now I get this thing

is the bootloader unlocked ?
i think i got same message and it was because i forgot this.
I think there are better guides. Not sure what state your system is in. I would re-install the stock rom and start afresh. Unlock your bootloader, check which slot 'a' or 'b' is the current slot, and then follow the instruction of the Custom ROM you are trying to install. It might need TWRP but Lineage Recovery is equally as good.

As I said, as I am not sure what state your system is in I would suggest 're-installing' the stock rom from your PC, rather than 'restoring' an image from your phone. If you have backed up your data etc (eg on Google Drive) you can restore it after you have re-installed the stock rom. You can then start again from scratch.
The latest stock rom fastboot images can be found here
https://xiaomifirmwareupdater.com/miui/laurel/
Tbh I haven't restored an image from magisk myself so I can't confirm what you are proposing, though yes I switched to slot b and installed TWRP.
You might also want to read this article on A/B partitions
https://www.xda-developers.com/how-...ess-updates-affect-custom-development-on-xda/
Try this
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.smartpack.smartflasher
Flash TWRP installer through the app
Just a few tips when you do get to TWRP:
Disable dm-verity
Format data and wipe cache after you flash the new rom before first boot
Use a patched boot method instead of flashing magisk in TWRP on custom ROMs. High chance of soft brick.
DM me if you need help.
