[Q] Question about Safestrap

FYI, Unofficial CM 10.1 JB 4.2.1 on Razr soft boot fix

When installing the Unofficial CM 10.1 JB 4.2.1 ROM on the Razr, being on the JB kernel; some users said that it soft-bricked their phone, stuck in the boot animation.
I can't post in that thread so I made it here to share that I got passed that with deleting the Rom Slot 1 in Safe Strap 3.11, and recreating it. Once I did that I installed the ROM, booted, shut down, installed the GApps and was good from there. I still have the camera/gallery force close problem but still.
I had installed the leaked OTA JB, and had been on a ROM based on that when I did this. Hope that helps.

Needing help getting a custom ROM on this phone

Hello,
Yes, I know this phone is old and I'm hoping someone will help me but I have a Motorola Droid Turbo 2 and the battery is about to go bad and I also broke me MicroUSB port so I have to wirelessly charge it. I want to go back to my Samsung Galaxy S4 which it's on Android 5.0.1.
Before I got this Samsung Galaxy S4 had the same phone but I broke the LCD when I went to replace the screen which it ran Android 4.4.4, it was rooted, and had the SafeStrap custom recovery on it. This Samsung Galaxy S4 is on Android 5.0.1 and I saw a custom ROM that can make the phone run on Android 7.1 or Oreo so I want to do that to get the phone almost up-to-date close to my Motorola Droid Turbo 2.
I rooted using Kingroot so the first question is how to make SuperSU the main root permission.
I tried to use TWRP but it mess the stock recovery up so now it goes to Odin mode, the second question is how can I get a custom recovery to unlock the bootloader.
Lastly, what is the best ROM, I see the CM is nothing anymore and I saw a ROM called "LineageOS 14.1" which run Android 7.1.1, so the ROM I like to see haves at least Android 6 or newer and if there isn't any then what is the best Android 5.0 ROM.
--Here is the Phone info---
Model number: SCH-I545
Android version: Android 5.0.1
Baseband version: I545VRSGPL1
Kernel version 3.40
Build number: LRX22C.I545VRSGPL1
Keep in mind I'm little rust on rooting and custom ROM. I haven't done a custom ROM since the Droid 1 days. Please make it noob friendly as possible. I'm using a Linux OS right now but if I need a Windows OS I got one.
Thank you!

You're stuck on 5.0.1. forget about upgrading past 5.0.1. not going to happen. Ever.

Only the MDK bootloader can boot ROMS based on Android 6, 7, 8, etc. Once you've updated past MDK, you can't go back.
