Back up all your apps using either super back up or titanium back up
There are various apps available for the same purpose. Check them out on play store.
Flash the ROM as per the given procedure
Install titanium back up
Restore the apps.

[Q] Root and custom rom for S5830

Alright this is my first post here..
I am a complete newbie as far android rooting and custom rom installation is concerned. I have been using Samsung galaxy ace's stock installation unrooted phone for about 6 months...after installing a few apps the phone has become sluggish..and battery drains out more quickly I can do a factory reset
but its not practical reinstalling apps again and again . I figured out custom rom is the way to go to unlock the potential of the phone but the chances of bricking my phone has stopped from taking the plunge.
I haven't yet found a recent how to root and install custom rom post for the galaxy ace S5830 ,the ones that are available are 8 -9 months old I believe a lot has changed since then
My current rom is gingerbread DDKQ6
In short this is what I want
1) Back-up the entire factory os( ie samsung touchwiz etc)..incase I screw up I can always go back.
2) root the phone
3) Install a stable and secure rom gingerbread or ics (even better) which is fast and doesn't lag after installing a few apps. without sacrificing any original features of the phone apart from touchwiz
4) a rom which has all google apps running (gmail, android market, placess, navigation ,search, youtube etc).. i noted the current ics roms for galaxy ace don't have the camera working.
Pls help.
Hi mate .. try Sony HD V2 OR GingerCruzt if you like Sony Ericsson Xperia ...

all of your wants there can be answered by google and the search tool. I suggeat you do that first

Flash cwm5 from stock recovery. Backup your rom then look in android development

Chances of bricking is very less. You can read the stickies in development section. All info given there. Nothing much has changed. So you can use the old posts without worry.
as you new better start with a stock custom Rom . try stocklite 6 or adrenaline Rom. you Will know what you were missing.

For flashing a rom, ALWAYS delete Dalvic cache, cache and factory reset. Remember those 3 and you can flash any rom you want. Delete these before installing the rom, then flash.
Some roms don't require you to delete one of those, but always do just for safety measures and to avoid future problems.
How do i update superuser app?
Sent from my GT-S5830 using XDA
As other users told you you can follow other guides about galaxy ace (even 11 month old, not so much have changed (for example http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1034145).
Just two advices if it's your firs experience with ROMs and root (that I learned here, and "save" my smartphone til now! )
1) To avoid lag and memory limits you should try link2sd or a2sd when yo'ull root (google for them)
2) NEVER use ROM Manager (or the CWM apk pre-installed in some ROMs) to backup your phone/intall ROMs/MOD/etc (NEVER USE IT!) because it'll brick your Ace!
Hope have helped you... Good Luck

So i`ll assume that you already rooted ok?
Download Clockworkmod recovery from dev section
Install it by going to recovery-apply update then choose the sip file
Reboot
Download AOSP rom
put in SD
reboot to recovery
wipe everything
install zip from SD
choose AOSP rom ok?
but AOKP is still under beta so I don`t really recommend it
Its all on www.google.com or just use your brain to click the stickies please....

no i havnt rooted the phone.. but i have read somewhere that it is must to root phone before installing custom rom.. so looking forward the app and method to root my device
another thing is i want take up my stock rom too.. i may shift to stock ROM if i m unable to handle custom..
so the backup of the stock ROM is to be taken before rooting orr after rooting?
Back up with cwm after rooting and after installing cwm. Still, the best way to return to stock is Samfirmware and flashing through Odin (u need a PC and the ace's controllers).
It's all in the forums, just don't rush to flashing stuff without an exit plan.

[Q] Questions about installing ICS CM9

Hi everybody,
I'm new at this forum and in the Android world and I have a few questions about the install process of the ICS CM9 on Galaxy tab 10.1 GT-P7500 3G.
1. If I want to backup my current ROM, do I have to be rooted to use ROM Manager to backup the ROM? And do I have to be rooted to restore that backup?
2. Can I UNROOT my device later? (The device belongs to my father's work and I don't want to take any chances with the warranty things.)
3. How to install the ICS CM9? I think I have all the files I need to so, I hust need the guide.
Thx for your help!! I really hope that I will get this thing going already!
Yes, you need to be rooted in order to install cwm through recovery and then make a backup (although you don't need rom manager. In order to flash ics you have to install pershoot's recovery with odin). You can unroot later, but you have to remove the recovery as well if you want your device to be covered by warranty for sure. So flash with odin a stock rom and you're ok BUT you may loose the data.
Listen, ics installation is tested and almost fool-proof. But bear in mind that a lot of things can/may go wrong and then you'll find yourself in a mess. Since that tablet doesn't belong to you, you should better leave it be, unless of course you have your father's consent and you have explained him all the risks involved.
It wouldn't be nice to find his tab messed up!

Try to Google it. It may come up. You can backup your device through cwm but I would also find the stock firmware if you are going to want it in the future.

OP... Why are you so hung up on ROM Manager???
Just root using the Odin method mentioned, once you've rooted and have CWM installed just do all of your backing up, restoring and flashing through it. ROM Manager is nice and all but it has its own set of issues and all. Read and learn about what you are about to do... You'll be surprised how easy it is and you'll run into alot less problems.
Please put the ROM Manager down and step away.

U need to perform a full wipe and flash the ROM. Don't worry about the kernel because each ROM cones packaged with a kernel.

You will lose all your apps and personal settings because you need to do a full wipe. You have to back up your apps with titanium backup and restore them after you install shostock3.

the others have covered the method. just wanted to add that if you restore from Titanium Backup and have issues with the ROM, the restored apps may be why. If you like what it has to offer, try a full wipe and reinstall apps from scratch before giving up.
Nandroid backup first!!
smsbackup + Titanium Backup = win.
Backup your launcher too if you can.

Google apps flashing problem PLS HELP!

Hello everyone
I am using the sirrah kernel for dual boot, the first room is the stock touchwiz while the other is the stock android, since the room had no Google apps, I tried to flash the Google apps on the cyanogen, but I ended up flashing it on touchwiz, so now my Google apps on the touchwiz is crashing, I tried recovering them using titanium backup but it wont fix the problem. How do I solve this problem? Is there a way to unflash those Google apps?

Siyah kernel dual boot isn't worth the hassle in my opinion.
Restore your TW rom from a back up! If you made one, if not. Lesson to be learnt there!
All else failing, flash a stock rom via odin and start all over again!

Thanks for the advice!!! But is it possible to flash a google apps dump file for touchwiz onto the touchwiz rom to fix this problem???
no. you need to restore the backup or factory reset.

[Q] Stock Google Apps

I'm sure this question has been asked before, but is it at all possible for me to get some of the stock apps from vanilla android onto my S4 without flashing a new ROM? Things like messaging and contacts and the like. Just looking to get a stock feel without necessarily needing to flash a whole new rom and then go through the trial phase and then restoring all my apps.
