I know ME7 users can still use the toggle but people using MJ7 and MK2 can't, so this just gets rid of the subscription checks for all 3 and allows you to activate them from settings menu. For stock ME7, MJ7 and MK2 tw based roms only.
Note: This does not remove the on going wifi notification. This is mainly for people who have issues removing the ongoing wifi notification
1. Back up your rom via recovery. Make a back up of framework-res.apk if you wish
2. Flash in recovery or overwrite stock framework-res.apk in /system/framework with this one (doesn't work with odexed roms)
3. Wipe cache/dalvik in recovery
4. Reboot device.
For ME7 Download here

Edit: 1/20/2014
Enable all toggles + unlock native Tethering
If you have Safestrap installed and are on a MK2 or MJ7 rom/build you can flash the corresponding zip below and you will unlock native built-in tethering and also get all the toggles including the usually absent Wifi Hotspot widget. Both versions have been tested and confirmed to be work. This solves also enables all the missing toggles, not only the Wifi Hotspot toggle. Toggle issue = solved. If you don't have Safestrap then let me know, I'll write up a script to do the same thing if needed.
Devs/Modders/Themers - You can use my script without my permission and you don't need to give me credit. I don't do this for ego/pride I'm already narcissistic enough as it is.

Would it be possible to combine this with the removal of the ongoing WiFi notification? Since these both modify the framework-res.apk, it seems that they overwrite each other so I can only use one or the other when applied.

Can this be done on stock ME7? Has to be rooted though I'm sure..
Did you find the combined fix?

Any updates you are working on such as remove wifi notification? Could you possibly add more info to your steps such as location of framework-res.apk and how to back it up / replace it? Think it would help some users (I can figure it out but would be helpful to have it for everyone who reads OP)
Thx

I have a MJ7 build with a MK2 based rom installed (Foxhound). When I flash the MK2 fix in safestrap recovery it indicates that it is actually installing the MJ7 toggle/tether fix, not MK2. When I reboot I am hung up on the Foxhound startup logo. What am I doing wrong?
Also, I get a message that says something like another app is already running must be stopped before another one can be started and returning to %1$s or something close to that.

It's still installing MK2, I just forgot to rename the script. The reason your getting errors is because foxhound doesn't use MK2 vzw files, it's based on a ml6 build I believe, just made to be compatible with safestrap

Thanks, Surge1223! Makes sense. I was hoping for an easy way to get a torch toggle. Everything else seems to work fine.
Im on MDK . Will this work on it? thanks
Hey op, is there any chance of getting a mod that allows you to increase the amount of toggles in the status bar? Like 15 toggle mod? I've been searching all over for that. I'm on Verizon mk2 from jkruse (mdk bootloader if that makes a difference). Stuck with 10 toggles though. Sorry if I missed something obvious, but I can't find anything. Seems like there would be something like this around already. Anyway, any help would be appreciated. Thanks
I'm just rooted, don't have anything to flash. Anyway we can go in and manually do this?

Just push the framework.apk on top of your old one.
As for the MK2 version of this mod... Is the framework.apk edited from a stock rom? And will this work for odexed roms?
I need a couple people running either MK2 or MJ7 with Safestrap installed to test if flashing the tether unlock zip below (MJ7 or MK2 depending on what build your on) also enables all toggles, including the Wifi Hotspot toggle. I flashed the MJ7 one since I'm on MJ7 and it worked but I want to confirm it works and hopefully someone on MK2 can confirm it works before I post it for everyone. Please respond and let me know if it works/doesn't and what if any errors were. Only try on VRUEMJ7 or VRUEMK2 roms/builds.
Thanks
Edit: Links removed, thanks to those who tested and confirmed it worked. Downloads are now here

Just tried the MJ7 zip while running Foxhound SS on stock slot. I ran into a bootloop after wiping cache and davlik. Said it was trying to start an app that was already running and had to stop first then looped. Had to restore a nandroid. oh well.
Thanks for the hard work Surge

This is because Foxhound uses a ML6 base so the framework-res.apk file is different. Sorry should have stated in the OP to only try on VRUEMJ7 or VRUEMK2 roms/builds. Ill edit it now, thanks for trying though and again sorry about the bootloop

Hey folks I hate to make a new thread if there is already a post on this, but I couldn't seem to find exactly what I'm looking for.
I have a Verizon Galaxy S4 currently running 4.3 MJ7, rooted and using the wifi tether hack. I'm looking to upgrade to MK2, but I can't seem to find a guide that goes over how to do so without losing root and my wifi tether hack. If anyone could point me in the right direction it would be much appreciated. Thanks.

What is the significant difference between MJ7 and MK2? I am on MJ7 and seem to have everything that I want (HyperDrive 15, tether, root).
What's the compelling reason to go up to MK2?

stepping stone to go to kitkat as you can retain mk2 bootloader while going to NC5 thru the upgrade/downgrade methods.
I just did this today and now running kitkat Bajarom V2.0
took a little while to do it but had no issues whatsoever

not difficult but you have to be careful thats why I recommend a checklist so you don;t forget what files to have on your phone, what files you need on your computer and the order of the steps to be done.
there are several youtube videos that discuss various steps that would need to be done. If you have rooted and installed roms before, if you have used odin before, the process can be done successfully
btw, baja is very nice and devs are updating theme packages and other things right now. Can't wait to do some flashing on it.
Oh, I have most of the files set on my computer and phone to make the jump. I think. I just need clarification. What does downgrading back to MK2 achieve? Was that necessary in your move to Baja? I see these things like HLOS modems and non-HLOS modem and I'm like wait what is that and do I need to be concerned by it?
I'm one of those guys who has some irrational fear of messing up, hence why I need a list of exact steps to do. I don't really like making assumptions if I could help it. :c

Oooh. Okay. I'll look into this later tonight. Hopefully I'll get it done soon. By the way, I noticed in Surge's thread that there's an NC5 patch file in the deodexed feature list. What is that and when would I flash that part?
Trying to flash a ROM that supposedly works via SS 3.72. I'm coming off of Surge's NC5 ROM and I'm on the NC2 bootloader.
? Which modules do I need to get WIFI to be able to toggle on and work?
I've tried the NC2 modules in the same session as the new ROM flash but yet I still have no WIFI, it won't even allow to toggle to ON.
Thanks.

Thanks, I was looking for that app today. I ended up dialing *#1234# on the phone which pulls up superuser app (odd) then displays the version screen once I hit back. Phone info gives you much more info though. I used an app called elixir 2 that displays more phone info then I need to know, but it's also a great app nonetheless.
Installed WiFi modules still have to do soft reboot
Hi,
I installed the nc5 WiFi modules and while I am able to get WiFi working, if I restart or power down my phone with WiFi turned on, I have to do a soft reboot for the WiFi toggle to work properly again. I saw this was a known issue - does anyone know of a permanent fix for this?

Thanks.
