Screen stays on when answering with Bluetooth - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S 5

Running stock rom, I have the latest version. When ever I answer a call with my Bluetooth headset the screen on the phone stays on. Is this intended or is it a software issue. How can I fix this

In the Settings menu, how do you have "Turn screen off during call" set?
.

I don't see that option.

Well it could still be any number of settings. You should flip through the settings menu and the bluetooth options and see if any options might be keeping the screen awake.. then try toggling those. e.g. smart stay, screen timeout duration, car mode.
Perhaps the most likely culprit is the proximity sensor under display settings. Try setting that to disabled and see if that helps. Or you can probably manually turn off the screen during a bluetooth call by tapping the home (or perhaps power) button.
.
.

I can't find any setting that would be causing this. On a non Bluetooth call when I bring the phone to my ear the screen turns off. When I answer through my gear 2 the screen turns off. It's only when I answer a call through my Bluetooth headset that this happens.

Yeah this is how it was designed on s5. Stupid, I know, Proxy sensor does not work either. Download on call proximity from the market. Note that only one feature at the time works. If you enable more than one, chances are in s5 that it won't work. So choose what's more important for you, bluetooth or speakerphone. This is the only way I can answer on my bluetooth while phone in pocket and avoid bunch of false keypresses and hangups. Idiots. My old Nokia and Sony Ericsson dumb phones had more logical bluetooth handling, than these smartphones, and it keeps getting worse with every generation.

[Q] Locking on active call

Am I the only one that gets frustrated trying to hang-up a call? The phone shouldn't lock on active calls, but I can't find anyone else complaining. Maybe I'm searching for the wrong key terms?
Anyways, I've found a few apps on the market, like no lock, but it's not a true fix. There has to be some way to disable locking while on a call. I shouldn't have to spend 3 seconds to press the hang-up button.
** Additional Complaint: On speakerphone, the screen blanks out immediately. **
I get the same thing, very frustrating. There's a thread for accessing programming thru the dialer & one of those settings impacts this. The *#7594# that enables power off at long press of the power button also disables the lock screen and fixes this problem. But when I used it, it seemed to prevent my phone from sleeping, I noticed a big difference in battery life so I went back to stock set up.

Its really annoying when u r trying to type n a credit card number and the lockscreen pops up. I will say that for me, it o ly seems to happen after I install clockwork. I highly highly doubt this has anything to do with it. Maybe just when I notice it

I tried testing this when I saw the first post on it, but I can't seem to replicate this issue. I remember reading this was for incoming calls, not ougoing.
I have Screebl Lite installed, but I disabled it, set my screen timer to 15 seconds, called my cell, covered the light sensor for 30 seconds, checked the screen and no lock. I then covered the light sensor for 1m 30s, checked the screen and no lock.
Does anyone have specific steps to replicate this?
It only locks when I use bluetooth. Is that what the issue is?
good day.
I get this alllll the time...and when using speakerphone the screen stays on, you have to hit power button to turn it off

What the heck? My screen never locks when I'm on the phone. Honestly, I kind of wish it would. I have the completely opposite problem. I keep accidentally hanging up or muting myself because apparently, the proximity sensor doesn't detect hair, so the screen turns on when my hair is in the way of the side of my face. It's extremely annoying...
I wonder why my phone doesn't lock and all of yours do...?
Soultion???
Possible Solution for the problem at hand. Started when I began using a task killer. So make sure you HAVE an android process called "Call settings" in your ignore list when using a task killer. The call settings process will only start on the first incoming call after a boot. So your first call or two would work fine until any task killer kills the call settings process. I have been able to replicate this. And have not had it happen since figuring this out.
Reboot. Call device from another method to get "Call settings" to appear in your running processes list and add to ignore list.
good day.
Interesting thank you so much for posting it was quite an annoying problem.
I just had my roommate call my phone after killing the process. Im using advanced task manager and do not see a "call settings". I do see a task called "phone" though.
what task manager are you using?
Thanks for the fix, im 90% sure this is a reliable fix and makes plenty of since. Mine started after i downloaded advanced task manager. And i use it often to kill background tasks to make sure they arent running.

Advanced Task Manager by:Infolife (on the market) and FREE
I just use it for the one touch kill widget with memory display below the little guy. I never did like the always running auto kill stuff I prefer to do it when I see fit. But on fresh boot opened ATM and ignored all things android and the obvious apps you want running. Like I said, it is not until your first incoming call that the call settings process will appear to be able to add that to ignore list.
good day.
Thanks for the info but I must be missing something. Just tried to get call settings listed in running processes & it doesn't show after following the steps listed. Could you be more specific about what it's called?

Call settings is the name of the process. It seems not all task managers list android processes but still muck with them somehow. But the one I listed above did show the android processes running. On reboot "call settings" will not appear in the running processes list until you receive an incoming call. And that should explain why first couple calls would work fine until a task killer had its way. Took a screen of my ignore list so you can see it. If I stop that call settings process the first outgoing or incoming call will be locked.
good day.
Are you running stock d101? I got the same task manager from the market & have rebooted & called from a different phone multiple times and can't get call settings to show in the processes list. What am I doing wrong?

DI01 rooted and voodooed. Answer the call and it should show up.
good day.
Call settings still won't show but phone did & so did samsung.phoneinfo so I put both on the ignore list and it seems to work. Thanks for your help on this, it was one of the most frustrating aspects of everyday usage.

On a somewhat related note, I noticed that when your phone is locked and you receive a call, the glass unlock option shows up and you can answer the call (or ignore/reject with message). But if you answer the call and then YOU want to hang up, it forces you to unlock the phone in order to reach the option to do so. Is there any way to have a glass unlock function for hanging up? Needing to unlock the phone to hang up a received call is EXTREMELY annoying...

The above is in my ignore list as well. Just don't do any auto killing keep an eye out for that call settings process I bet it will appear.
good day. From my voodooed Fascinate using the XDA app.
As mentioned above. Im running stock just rooted. And my call settings hasnt showed up at all. I did add phone and samsung.phoneinfo and it seems to have fixed it.

Help finding an app

I'm looking for an app that will lock the screen when the phone is upside down. Here's my problem. I keep my phone in my pocket, generally top shirt pocket. I'll be on a call using a headset (BT or wired) and another call comes in. The screen wakes up (in pocket detection doesn't make a difference) and because it is a press to answer button on the screen for call waiting, the phone connects to the waiting call 99% of the time.
So, I'm looking for a way to keep the screen from activating. In pocket detection would be good if it worked. Maybe just have the phone upside down in my pocket (not good for wired headset through). If there isn't an app, something like Tasker (looked but it doesn't seem like a solution) or anything else that might help is appreciated. I can't believe I'm the only one with this problem but it I don't see any complaints. TIA.
i too need a similar app
i use a bluetooth headset to receive call on my maxx. i have tried almost every app that detects in pocket using proximity sensor. they all work well. but the moment a call arrives or made the screen lights up causing all sorts of button press and the phone hangs. please suggest a app with which the screen should not come on whatever may be the event (call, message etc) when it is inside the pocket.
Try using:
Cheeky Hangup Guard
myLock Utilities
Angle offHookGuard
On Phone Touch Protection
I've not personally used them but their description sounds like it might be what you're looking for.
i use automagic automation to create a rule to lock or silence the phone when it's turned face down.
and yeah, i know it's a 10 months later reply

phone face down

Is there a setting where when you set your phone face down everything goes to vibrate or silent?
If so where? Thanks
Not sure if this is what you are looking for but there is a feature under settings that will mute incoming calls and mute whatever is playing when you turn the phone face down.
Settings:Motion:Turn over mute pause near the bottom.

I don't know of a way to do it with the stock software, but I have a similar profile I made with Tasker. I set it up to turn data off and multiple other features when it's between certain hours and the phone is turned face down. You could very easily make a profile that put your phone on vibrate or silent when placed face down. I even made a profile to turn on the flash when turned upside down. Tasker is probably the coolest Android app you can own
Oh, another thing you would probably be interested in is it's cell near feature. You can use it to detect your general location and then have Tasker set the phone to vibrate or silent... or about 200+ other things. I have it set up to detect when I'm home and since it based off of cell towers it uses very little battery power.

[Q] Notifications off at night

Check out Nights Keeper. I've been using it for several months now on a few different HTC phones & love it. There isn't an option to disable the LED, unless via stamina mode perhaps, but otherwise it should be what you're looking for.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nightskeeper
Edit: Sorry, you've already accomplished the same thing with Quiet Sleep that Nights Keeper does I think. I'll leave in case someone else could use it & stumbles onto this thread.
I'm using tasker for that. As soon as the phone is docked and in my Wifi I turn off all the sounds and the LED notification. Turn on all the sounds as soon as I undock the phone. Works just fine. You can also define either a single contact or all your favorite contacts to ring regardless of that setting. Same goes for received texts.

Another vote for nights keeper. I was working night shift where I had finished my work allocated I would go back home to bed. I'd set it up so only certain people could get through (ie the boss and office) whether that be bus sms or call.
It's got a handy feature whereby, if anyone calls more than a predetermined number of times (you choose) there call will get through after x amount of tries.

An app that allows you to start an app when you are in the middle of a phone call

Hi,
I just bought the Xiaomi A2 phone and I have a problem with it- during phone calls the proximity sensor doesn't work very well and the screen doesn't turn off when I press it to my ear. This causes me to randomly press things on my phone during the call. Apparently a lot of other people are experiencing the same issue:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-a1/help/unintended-taps-call-how-to-prevent-t3725551
In order to solve this I want to use the app Proximity Service:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ss.proximityservice
This app seems to do the trick and does turn the screen off pretty well when the proximity sensor is covered. The problem is that I don't want it to happen all the time I'm using my phone, I want it to happen only during calls.
So I was wondering, is there an app that allows me to turn on an app every time I start a call and turn it off every time the call ends?
Thanks.
