Hallo, I just bought a x10. This is my first android phone. I wonder if this phone supports internet sharing or if there is any application on android OS that would allow to share internet with thru the phone.
thank you
Easy tether and pdanet do this over usb. Search the android marketplace on your phone for these apps or search for "tethering" for wifi sharing.
thank you very much
ive tried these and cant get these apps to work for some reason can someone lend me a hand?
What does not work. We would be happy to help you, please provide a little more information as to what doesn't work. Got an error message?
If you prefer is there a wifi option.
You can do tether with your X10 using Barnacle.
Set rmnet0 as WAN password and athwlan0 as LAN one.
Bye

I installed Barnacle in my x10,and I can not connect x8 to my x10. Is there something missing.according to the explanation, it depends on the os like win7,xp,iphone,ipad,etc. Does it mean no chance for android? Or may be need another app to be installed in client device?
Thanks.

I can confirm that the only app that works for tethering is Barnale Wifi Legacy (you can find it in your Market).
I tried both legacy and norm, with 'wlan0' interface and channel 11(saw somewhere else it is preferred)
Is it possible to make it work in 2.1, like in 1.6?
Or is it possible to compile the netfilter module for 2.1?

Does anyone know of have or can make an APK that allows us people in 4G area's to use apps that REQUIRE a WIFI signal like Order & Chaos to play to make it think its on WIFI so it will see the 4G network and play the game. A sort of wifi emulator for the phone. I know i could have a friend share their network connection. No one here is on sprint with me at work so not going to hog their bandwidth.
Thanks in advance either way.

No i dont want a wifi tether program or at least the normal one. That i do have and that did not work. I need it to tell the phone its running that it has a wifi signal when it does not. and then pretend to be the wifi signal but pass info thru the 3g/4g
Bump.
I remeber my iPhone able to spoof a WiFi connection using its 3G connection. Surprised there's no way for Android to do this.

I am really not sure the policy on linking stuff off site here, but isn't this the method: http://www.goodandevo.net/2011/09/h...gameloft-games-over-3g-on-rooted-htc-evo.html
Hi folks, I hope someone can offer some words of advice.
I would like to be able to share my ethernet internet connection on my android 2.2 tablet via wifi.
I know there are various app's on phones that allow you to share your 3g connection but I have not found anything that I can actually install that will create the same sort of functionality on my tablet, most of the ones I've seen on the play store are simple short cuts giving control over the pre-existing wifi hotspot app.
What I need is the wifi hotspot itself, ie the ability to use my tablet as a router/bridge.
So any thoughts people?
Bump
Really, no comments at all, nobody?
Someone must have thought of this before me, if not does anyone know where I can find an actual wifi hotspot app not just a set of controls for the pre-installed hotspot?
Thanks
Jon
If you're talking about what I think you are, I've yet to find a way to broadcast your ethernet connection with your Wi-Fi Hotspot like a router. If there's a way to do it I'd be interested, but somehow I don't think there's a way to do it!
Beginning to think your right Wolfy. To be honest not that surprised there is no ready made to ethernet to wifi app but I thought I'd be able to find a traditional wifi hotspot that I can install on my tablet just for the sake of having a go & seeing if it works.
Amazed that there haven't been any other responses! Where are the regulars?
I have Android-x86 (latest 4.2.2) since 2 days ago. When I connect my network via wifi, it goes blank, so I decided to skip the wifi and disable it. So I found way to connect internet via Huawei USB Dongle and everything goes well but some Google Service dont. After some research I found that using TTY to connect USB Dongle doesn't change the signal bar and leave the signal bar to blank, but I can connect to internet, as I said.
So, my final question:
How I can fake the signal bar ?
sent from my Android Laptop with xda-developers app.
Faking signal bar
I didn't got ur question exactly..
But according to my experience faking is nt that really easy as setting a wallpaper..
You can change your settings using root explorer and editing sim or wifi properties (As I didnt got what you want to fake) to display full 100% strength even when there is no signal..
But first make a nandroid backup..

I think this one is not possible. The possible is removing the google play link to an specific apps but you need to be root your phone and use lucky patcher but the problem is... not all apps link to google play are supported with lucky patcher...

Any news on this?
Similar to AngSanley, I want to use Google based apps like navigation on a 'non-standard' internet connection, a bluetooth internet connection (via Blue VPN). Unfortunately, Google based apps or some of the non-Google ones that check for either wifi or 3G / GSM internet connection, (like TuneIn Radio) refuse to work with it.
I need to fake an established wifi or 3G / GSM internet connection to get them working. The only Google based app that works with my bt connection is Google Play. Many other non-Google apps that obiously aren't set to check for such a 'standard' internet connection are working fine.
In my opinion, Google should remove this really senseless inconveniece. This is a limitation in fact.

I don't know about this feature of turning our android device into Wi-Fi repeater until I come across this app Fqrouter2 and the sad part is, it's not working currently I don't know the reason, it's even pulled down from the Play Store. Is there anyone in development interested in making such app or already trying? I searched the internet and couldn't find a similar app like this, it has other features as well but Wi-Fi repeater/extender caught my eye. If anyone can come up with only Wi-Fi repeater/extender feature app, that would be great. Thanks.

AFAIK most devices/wifi chips can use either AP mode (WiFi Hotspot) or connect to an existing WiFi. I guess it just works with some devices/WiFi chipsets.

Even I was under this impression for long time. I got to know with this App you can use Wi-Fi and Extender(Hotspot) simultaneously.
Edit: It works only on rooted devices, I can install the app but unable to execute it on both Marshmallow and Kitkat.
I wish there is one. Wifi extender/repeater is a catching feature

Try netshare-no-root-tethering on Google Play, tested and works on my Marshmallow device. You connect to a wi-fi, turn on the netshare app, and it creates another wifi network like mobile hotspot that other devices can connect to.
So does FQrouter2 still work on Android 4.2.2? Or did it require ancient versions of Android to work?

As far as I can tell, this is the only working app. Tested on AOSP Marshmallow Galaxy S4 - I took my sim card out to make sure it wasn't using mobile data, and it works! Shares your WiFi as another network. Unfortunately the app is ugly as all hell and doesn't let you change the name or password of the hotspot. Plus it requires you to use some dodgy proxy thing so it's not quite as good as fqrouter used to be. Anyone know of any other apps?
EDIT: also doesn't seem to play well with HTTPS

Hey mate! Do you have apk of the pro version of this app? Thanks.
Alternative
By the way, i found this similar app in Playstore which is completely free. ) See attached.
It still requires a proxy to be able to connect the devices.
Unfortunately, I need an app that will repeat wifi without the need for a proxy, as the device I want to use it on has no options to enter proxy.
