Hello,
I'm using stock Sony software/ROM on my Tablet Z. When I use Spotify or Google Play Music the music skips and distorts. Does anyone else have this problem? Any idea how or if it can be fixed? It really ruins the experience of music for me. Do custom ROMs for this device have the same issue? Are there any ROMs that for sure don't have it if so?
Really appreciate any help on this folks.
ColdSun
Hey,
Nope, haven't had this issue, but it sounds to me like a network issue, of which the xtz has many. Does the same issue apply to locally stored music/video? What about streaming video, like you tube? As a possible solution, try changing the WiFi frequency to 5ghz (if available) and the router to channel 9. I moved from rooted stock to custom rom due to WiFi issues.

Did anybody else notice a bug in SE Music app on newest Gingerbread Rom? For me, when playing music, tracks are often interrupted by a strange electronic noise.
BTW I'm using "WB-XPERIA TW Gingerbread". Did anybody has similar problems
and does this bug also appears in stock gingerbread rom or is it due to using a custom rom? I would be thankful for any answers.
Best regards.
me too
i have this problem too in WB 2.3.3 ROM
a lot of lags in audio player
I'm on wb hotfix 4 and ubermusic, and have no problems at all

i think the music player is really buggy... apart from the static noises between tracks, after unlocking from lock screen the track skips. Theres no shuffle/ repeat options at all, and wma files doesnt show up.
I was about to post the same thing. Other than her has anybody found a mp3 that does not skip.

Only good thing is "infinite" button, which shows youtube videos of artist... but havent found out when i should use it..... because if i'm listening and interpret i most time know which songs he has....
Some1 know how to uninstall this music ab and how to install... was is music 3 from stock android ?
Well true and there is lag in music playing when using applications. Feels like slow processor or what.

Uninstall with titanium backup, and install the music apk if your preference

Yeah, I`ve same problem, when using that stock music player(which has that widget). It`s really annoying, like stopping music playing for 0,5 sec and then continuing, that really sux :/ I hope there`ll be some fix for it...
Using this one here.

Best combination I have found so far! Also on hotfix 4 and ubermusic gives me the least amount of trouble for playing music. Still skips when turning screen on but it is much more tolerable overall!
Yes guys, seems to be an issue with 2.3.3. Wolf is working on a new ROM (as the rooted ones are based on an indian firmware of X10 - but apparently the ROM from GB doesn't have this issue).
Please check here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=16278495&postcount=1904
Is not related to SD Card, nor to hardware (as it worked ok with 2.1 no stuttering ever) as far as I can tell.
Since Monday I'm on 005 but still the same probs with the stock player. Now 2 days later, I've considerably fewer drops. Didnt install any add apk's. very strange ?!?
by the way ;did anyone test mp3 with different bit rates ?
I've tested 128 kbps (same issues) and vbr 192-320 kbps (same issues).
I connected to my car's hands free and still had the same issues.
I connected to an A2DP music gateway and it didn't hiccup when rotating but messed up when turning the screen back on/off.
Someone said that the UK GB version doesn't have this problem. Wolf also mentions this (I think he's going to use the pre-rooted UK version for 006). Right now Wolf's rom is based on the pre-rooted India version.
Is anyone running EWJet? That one is based on the UK version and it would be interesting to know if that one is having audio issues.
I also have similar issue its too much lagy.
And also when i open some mp3 file from file manager it plays the other.
there are too many problems with this default music player from sony.
And also i can't use next/previous button of my mw600 with this player.
Mediascape was much much better then this.
Please i want mediascpe back on 2.3.3. Help me out.
I'm now on 006 , and the problems are back . I dont believe that it is an 2.3.3 specific problem. As I wrote before , on the old version the noises were gone after 2 days.
When I use the Youtube app on my 3vo, it scrolls smoothly and all, until I begin playing a video on it. Once a video begins playing, when I try to switch tabs when holding the phone in portrait mode, the transitions suddenly become choppy and laggy, whether it be scrolling through comments, or pulling down the notification bar, the entire phone seems to lag once a Youtube video is playing, regardless of it being HD or not. Is anyone else having this issue or have a possible solution? Thanks (Stock ROM)
Maybe upgrade YouTube app.

I believe it already is the newest. 2.3.4 from the market. Do you think it could be a device issue? I've tried wiping 2 times, and the same issue is happening.
No its not device issue. What r u streaming YouTube videos 3/4g or WiFi??
Sent from my PG86100 using xda premium
I use WiFi and 3G mainly, but I've experienced the issue regardless of the connection type, and also whether it be in HD or SD format.

Ok are you rooted? Have you cleared cache and data on the app??
Sent from my PG86100 using xda premium
I am not rooted, I also cleared the data and cache as you suggested, but I have the same issue. I noticed that when I pause the video, however, it seems to respond faster.. Not as fast as no video playing, but a noticeable improvement over when the video is playing and I attempt to scroll.
I hate to be a downer but this phone does not handle a few things very well, namely the youtube app and it also is slow as hell when you get thousands of texts. I think this is a sense issue personally.
I thought Sense may be the cause to it. I'm not sure if other people are experiencing the issue though, whether it be that a custom ROM solves it or my device is just 'special'..

The problem you are experiencing is universal. Scrolling while watching a video causes lag in the youtube app.

Thank you. I thought it was just my device that did this, because there were no other threads which mentioned this, which I find strange because my old HeroC did it smoothly, and now the 3VO is struggling with it. Do you know if a custom ROM or kernel resolves this?
I have the same problem as well. When playing videos in the youtube app, I get a lot of lag.
I can actually navigate the desktop version of the youtube site with less lag than the youtube app.

I've experienced this problem on numerous ROMs. In regards to kernels, I don't even know. I doubt that a kernel will eliminate the lag, but I'm not one to say.
I am also getting this issue with both youtube and vevo app. When i play videos from my sd card with mx video player, they play flawlessly. So hopefully when ics comes out this problem is fixed.... :/

This is normal and I think it has been posted a few times. Basically it's the lack of gui hardware acceleration on Android gingerbread. If you try out an ICS rom you will see its smoother. Probably not as smooth as you like but smoother than it is on gingerbread.
Don't think its normal. YouTube works fine for me. HD and normal videos play without an issue. Upload and download works fine as well. I'm running SteelH's rom with Chads#50 kernel. Youtube has never giving me a problem in the app or VIA stock browser. So I don't think it has to do with the hard ware acceleration at all. My wife has my old hero and YouTube works fine for her as well. Also my sister and brother both have the EVO4g and youtube works fine for them. Have you guys tried a different version of the app ??? Like an older ver?? Or a newer one ??
#Root-Hack_Mod*Always\
I get this issue too, no way is it normal as this is the first phone I have used to have this strange behaviour.

Yeah its weird for me because all my movies and videos that are loaded onto my sd card work great. No lag or issues but when it comes time to YouTube or vevo and even vimeo.... It will lag or skip the video around the end or halfway but the sound keeps playing.. Very frustrating.

If you try the YouTube app on ics it works fine and no lag...
I wish I could go on ics.... But I use the camera and 4g a lot haha

So I have a weird issue when I'm streaming any music, regardless of the app I'm using, where I hear these weird electronic noises. It's not static and I don't get it when I'm playing music off the phone storage or sd card. So I assume it has something to do with the fact that I'm using data. Anyone else have this problem or at least know what it is? I've heard this on every ROM I've tried running on my phone.
It's a known issue...

thanks for the link. i guess my search terms weren't the best
Hi guys, hopefully an easy one.
Have searched previous threads for advice but no luck.
Recently purchased Samsung Galaxy sIII, i9300. Network provider o2.
The phone is ROOTED and is running on Android 4.0.4.
My problem is that I am unable to stream videos on Facebook, iPlayer, ITVPlayer or TV Catchup. The videos load, and I can hear audio but there is no video. Also, the phone kind of locks up when I try to quit the app.
Youtube streaming is fine!
The problem occurs when connected to 3g and also when connected to WiFi.
Adobe Air is updated, can't find flash in play store, but I've downloaded SmartSWF instead but still nothing.
Was considering upgrading to JellyBean to see if this would resovle the problem but thought I would try here first.
Thoughts / advice please?
Much appreciated. S.
Try searching for adobe flash player for Jellybean.
You will find threads about it and there it will give the apk to download and install and it works perfectly fine.
Not completely sure why your device isnt finding adobe flash player.
But they stopped officially supporting android devices from 4.1 and above.

yes, I get what you mean.
Hi all, I have a reoccurring problem: when listening to music with headphones-even different pairs-the audio stutters every few seconds. This happens quite often. I'm running Viper 2.0 and on ATT. I also have turned off Beats audio, or anyoyher audio affect in order to try and get rid of this problem, but to no luck
Anyone else have this problem?
If I'm not mistaken, this has to do with the kernel, specifically the max screen off frequency. Which kernel do you use?

Interesting. I wonder if this is the same thing I experience. I have some audio, mainly pandora and slacker, that have audio issues when the screen is not asleep.
I've got the same issue and noticed that it happens when I have wifi turned on and the phone is searching for wifi hotspots. Also turning off the screen seems to make it happen less frequently. It's really annoying, especially when you are playing music in a car loud.

thanks maxwen, I will try this rom, but is there a way to use Performance Tools in cm 10.1 ?
btw after spending some time on internet I hv solved the stuttering problem, installed Headset Blocker, installed Player Pro and hv set Audio Priority to "maximum" (under Player Pro Audio Settings)... now music plays flawless... this seems to work even with stock roms, gps/wifi all on, and with standard CPU settings in BLADE kernel !

it has nothing to do with the ROM but just the kernel
but yes using a player that supports audio buffering helps too
just you dont need to pay for a player to solve it - thats all
