CWM - Based Recovery Xperia s - The easy way

Hi all, i recently scoured these forums searching for the most simple way to achieve recovery on the Xperia S. Of course to no avail to a newbie like myself. My device is rooted and with ICS, with an unlocked bootloader. I initially tried to achieve CWM by using the application on the market (Prior to obtaining root but with unlocked bootloader & ICS). I recently tried to achieve CWM using the CWM - Xperia on the market and success it worked! Simply click the "Reboot into recovery mode" within the application and it will install CWM into the system partition so you can use recovery! I am unsure whether this has been posted recently but i avoided posting it elsewhere due to restrictions and the like, i hope this hasn't been discovered yet and im not just being ignorant to the forum i literally could not find any news of this elsewhere!
If needs be, i will make a guide on how to achieve this including the rooting and flashing steps i took.

CWM 5 supports the touch screen buttons on the bottom of the phone also. its very easy to use!
Beats audio installed via this method.
On what firmware is that available? This is just a one click method after achieving root.

CWM is some kind like the Bios from your pc...except does not have the same functions
it`s a recovery, where you can backup your rom and restore if something goes wrong with your phone!
with it you can install some custom ROM`s
you can clear cache...dalvik cache....and a lot more to do!
but really the mos usefull function of it is the backup-restore and the flash of different modules rom`s and kernels!
it`s better to have cwn just in case

install Sony PC Comanion first
second check the usb debugging box from {}developer options
then just plug your phone into the usb
after that double click on install.bat
i am on unlocked bootloader
i don`t know if it works with locked bootloader
it should work
another way to install CWM is to flash a kernel wich already have CWM on it!
to do that you must install fastboot driver an connect your phone in fastboot mode to your pc(with the phone shut off pres and keep volume up key and plug into USB untill the blue led is on)
than go to the extracted folder(in the attachment) and pres and hold shift key + right click
select from menu open command window here
in the cmd window type " fastboot flash boot kernel.elf" without the comma`s
it will install the Xperia SSpedd OC @ 1,67 MHZ and you will get CWM olso on your device!
After installing that to enter CWM pres volume up when booting the phone while the blue led and light stripe is on!
this is olso for unlocked bootloader,i don`t know if it works for locked bootloader since my phone is with unlocked bootloader from the day 1!
Again simply installing this APK from the market seems to be less daunting.

Ares,
I think the op was talking about this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.pvy.CWMinstaler which was the purpose of his post. The easiest way for new people to install CWM is with this apk from the market.
Correct me if I'm wrong OP.

Getting closer to Rooting the tmobile galxy NOTE

SO i found out how to manually get into Stock recovery on the t mobile version of the galaxy note.
1) While the phone is on just hold down Volume Down + power button for 10-12 second
2) When you feel a light vibration release the power button while still holding down button, and then just hold volume up button as well
( both volume up and down at same time) hold until it show manual mode.
once her it give me the same stock recovery options.
apply update through external sd
apply update through cache
and some other options i don't remember
" what i did"
i tried to flash Superuser binaries by pressing apply update through external sd. It seemed like it was about to go through then it said error invalid signature. When i tried to reboot the screen went completely black and my heart stopped. SOOOOOOO i waited a minute and then just held the power button and it booted up again "PHEWWWWWW"
Just wanted to share my experience as it seems there are alot of people trying to find more info.
Maybe this will help someone get closer to cracking the puzzle
I should be sleeping, since I need to be up in 4 hours for work, but I can't sleep because it's too friggin hot.
Did you have it connected to a comp when you tried this? It should force it into download mode then instead of going to recovery. Theoretically, then it would be a matter of using Odin to push custom recovery and SU.
Unfortunately, it's too damn hot to even fire up my computer, or I would be working on this right now. Well, if nobody has managed to get it by morning, I'll try to work on it while at work.

Get into recovery and flash this file in recovery, i got it from roto, here is his post on how to do it. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=30081450&postcount=34
comfirmed root!
i can confirm that if you have nandroided rotohammers tmobile dump then all you have to do is download the root superuser file and put it somewhere in your sdcard and manually go back to cwm (powering off device and pressing power vol up and vol down once you feel the phone vibrate let go of the power button but keep holding vol up and vol down until you see the cwm screen) then find the file you downloaded earlier flash and once done reboot the phone. "walla" your rooted on att galaxy note with a full Tmobile stock rom.
I can confirm that the TMo Note is easily rooted, almost the exact same way as the ATT version.
These steps all assume you have rooted before and have ODIN installed on your computer. If you have never rooted and don't know what ODIN is, you will need to read up on both before attempting anything or risk bricking your phone. I, or any other member of XDA, am not responsible if you brick your device. Attempt at your own risk.
Step 1: Download Clockwork Recovery tar file found here, select ODIN at top of post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1526431
Step 2: Download SU binaries (attached in this post)
Step 3: Open ODIN
Step 4: Connect usb to phone and computer
Step 5: Boot phone into download mode by pressing VOL DOWN+ POWER until phone goes blank and phone vibrates, then release POWER and hold VOL DOWN + VOL UP at same time. Once in download mode, select UP.
Step 6: In ODIN, select PDA and locate the recovery file. Then select Start.
When finished, close ODIN and copy the SU binary zip to the root directory of your internal phone storage.
Reboot into recovery by disconnecting phone from USB and following Step 5 above.
Install SU zip through CWR, you are now rooted. Reboot and update SU binary from app.
I know this can all be found elsewhere, I just wanted to place it in this thread for convenience

No, you still need ODIN to install recovery for the rooting process. For that, you have to be in download mode on the phone, not recovery, and you can only get to download mode with the USB cable attached. I think my instructions in my earlier post may have confused some people. I'll have to clean it up later.

I've flashed CM9 & CM10 ROMS and none work. So hang tight on the stock ROM right now. Freeze all the crap with Titanium Backup. Its working well for me so far.
OK, Now that I got rooted, and got wifi tethering working....next step is to wait for a dev to make a rom for t-mobile.

Unable to reach download/recovery mode by any means (stock android!!)

Dear forum,
I bought a galaxy i9100 second hand with Austrian T-Mobile branding. It came with android 3.5.2, i updated it to 4.0.3 via KIES, no problem. My plan is to root it to be able to flash cyanogenmod afterwards. Now my pain: I am not able to enter either download-mode or recovery-mode by any means. Of course I tried the necessary key combinations (yes, even following tutorial vids). It always boots with the usual samsung logo, then t-mobile logo and finally homescreen. After hours of messing around I even built an USB-jig, following the instructions in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=819551. Nothing happens! Of course i cannot guarantee I soldered everything correctly, but still...
After searching the www for hours i do not encounter anyone reporting such an issue. People have problems with download-mode when the device is bricked or something, but in my case the t-mobile android works perfectly fine apart from that.
i noticed some other strange behaviour: when i take the battery out and put it back in, the device boots automatically. i don't think this is normal, is it?
Are there any suggestions out there? I am completely clueless and desperate by now...
here are my specs from the phone utilities:
Android 4.0.3
Basebandversion: I9100BOLP5
Kernel-Version: 3.0.15-i0100BOLPE-CL000000
[email protected] #3
Build: IML74K.BOLPE
Swith off the phone, hold volume up and menu button then press power and hold this 3 buttons 10 sec, if android start normally this will br weird for me.
Wysyłane z mojego GT-I9100 za pomocą Tapatalk 2
I did this about 10 times. The samsung logo comes up. for a little moment it goes out, thet comes back. After some seconds the usual t-mobile logo animation appears. then home-screen.
And yes! It is absolutely weird, that's why I gave up and started asking

I think the easiest way is to use LG mobile support tool. refer to this member post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2456558&highlight=encrypt
- Boot you phone to S/W update mode
- Run LG mobile support tool (B2CAppSetup.exe)
- Select recover you phone from menu and wait for about an hour
- *Dont forget to comment lg server that you add in host file for offline flash
There're also other way to fix it, if you can boot into Stock recovery by Holding vol- + ... (I can't remember ), but this combo may hard reset your phone if you don't have stock recovery. In stock recovery mode you can use adb to push and replace busybox. I don't try this myself but some member unbrick their phone by this method.

seems like a common problem i donno which CM 11 your using but as far as i know for i9100 the official development has not yet started !!
These are my instruction on how to do it hope it help ( instructions are based assuming the ur running 4.1.2 stock rom )
Lets start from rooting and CWM the device
1. download this file : CWM SUPER USER
2. Save file to external sd card
3. Shut down
4. Open stock recovery (press power + vol up + home button)
5. Install zip from external sd card
6. Select the file "CWM-SuperSU-v0.97.zip
Wait and reboot
I dont recommend you to use CM 11 when there is no official build available for it so am recommending a CM 11 soucre code based build
known as MOKEE the best with tons of feature and the current top kitkat rom available
Flashing Rom
1.Download the rom form here : MOKEE I9100
2. Download this gapps package : core gapps
3. boot to recovery : vol up + home + power
4. wipe data/cache ... advance/wipe dalvik cache
5. flash rom
6.flsah gapps
reboot will work so fine
let me know if it works:fingers-crossed:
