Media Scanner not working. - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have all music and pictures stored both in my internal storage and extsd card.
However they are not found in my default music player, gallery and video player.
Mx player, poweramp and file manager were able to find them.
This is bad coz my gallery is not working at all. Photos app also not working. I've tried force media scanner and it didnt work. I cant seem to find any .nomedia files either.
Pictures taken by camera will be added to gallery. However, files transferred from pc or downloads are not shown in gallery. Default samsung music player also did not detect any music files when poweramp detected 514 songs.

Problem is solved by factory resetting. -.-

Sammy music player

Hi guys,
I dont know if already mentioned,i put some songs in my sd card(internal and external) I played few songs with sammy music player and then I deleted one cd (one folder).i opened again the music player and I still can see the deleted songs. If I try to play them it says "file does not exist".The only way to remove them is by deleting inside the music player or after rebooting phone.I initially deleted songs from root explorer.Whats going wrong?also tried the poweramp with same results. Is it the deleting or adding real time?
Same issue with video player.I played an avi file, deleted and its still in videos list.Any idea what am I doing wrong?

I've deleted an album with the stock file manager and there was no problem. Hope you can solve yours.

Im guessing that when you delete something with root explorer the phone wont re-scan the media but with the stock file manager it does. I dont know if theres an option in the setting to rescan media but I know that there are apps in the market that can be used to do that. I use Extented Controls and with it you can have a media scan button in a widget.

[Q] Music not showing up in player

So i'm at a loss here...
I copied alot of music to my prime (internal storage, into sdcard/music/) when i first got it. Worked perfectly. I was using the stock Music player for a while then it got on my nerves and i installed PlayerPro which i also use on my mobile phone. Works great.
Now a few months later i got some new music and i copied it to my prime. The only thing:
The music is not showing up in any player. Not the google player not playerpro. I can play the files from my file manager but in the actual music app it wont show up.
I rebooted, reinstalled music apps, used a sd card rescan app, cleared cache on all involved apps, deleted the music and copied again, used iSyncr and manual copy... And it cant be the music itself because on my phone the same files work fine.
Dont know what more i could do now any ideas?
[e] Gets even stranger, if i copy it with MyPhoneExplorer over wifi, it works the music gets recognized by all players. Strange, but at least a workaround.
Btw is there a way to enable Harddrive mode? This medialayer mode kinda sucks^^

[Q] S3 cannot detect ALL my music files

I need help and this has been driving me nuts for the past hour of two. I placed 2 new music albums to my internal SD card (/storage/sdcard0/Music) and for some reason my music player cannot detect them. What I did is I checked the entire Music folder for any .nomedia but there is none. I downloaded a SD scan app and still the same.
The last resort i did is i deleted everything from my music folder and transferred everything again from PC to the S3. Now after doing that, the new albums appeared BUT one of the older albums is not showing! I checked the folder via Root Explorer and MyFiles and the album and songs are in my internal SD card. Like I said in my first statement, these albums/songs are located in just one folder.
Same result if I use the stock music app or a third party app like N7.
I am now frustrated and lost
I am currently using LI8.
Try clearing data in "MediaScanner" in the applications manager, and then rebooting. Give it a little while as it can take a few minutes to scan the entire phone.

Try putting the music somewhere else on your SD, before deleting caches and data... If that doesn't work, you can always just delete the cache of your music player, that usually works, but try not to delete the Media Scanner's Cache, that means it will take longer to boot and get to the launcher...
If you want, you could also just download Google Play Music, it's better than Samsung's Music player (Because Music Player leaves a second out of the music..) and Play Music is much smoother than Sammy's..
Try one of those and if it still doesn't work, do the Media Scanner Cache.
Anyways, hope I could help you!
You can also decrease the scanning times by using the SD watcher mod here:

Thanks! I'll try all the options provided and will let everyone know the results.

System media stuck in Gallery and Music player

So yesterday I had cleared caches and fixed permissions on my phone to fix an issue I was having. When I booted however, none of my pictures or music would show up. I did several reboots and it did not fix it so I downloaded Media Rescan from Play Store to get my media back. It worked, but now I have ringtones in my music player and backgrounds/icons in the gallery. How can I get these out of there?????
Sort folders out on your SD card or internal storage.having them scattered outside their appropriate folders will make them show up in music player, as same for photos.

[Q] SDcard Photos & Videos Not Showing In Gallery

Hello Everyone,
I have a problem with my SDcard,
I stored all my photos, videos & songs in my SDcard,
I'm using C-Rom/Slimkat 4.4.4 for my Note 1 / N7000,
My photos, videos and all my songs used to show up in my gallery and music player,
But now it doesn't shows up in my gallery and music player,
I formatted my SDcard, wipe cache, dalvik and factory reset everything to default and reflash the Rom.
Photos and music still won't show up. but it shows up in Root Explorer and Files Manager except for gallery and music player.
Media Scanner is turned on. sometimes I have to restart tons of time in order to get my files to show up in my gallery & music player. (which is not a good idea)
Tried some free media scanning apps and even purchased several of them and still doesn't work.
What could it be? what am I doing wrong? what is the problem?
Thank You Seniors, Experts and XDA Developers!
