Hello all.
I would like to know if those who have rooted have come across any issues with their G3 that were not present prior to rooting.
Thanks!
Nope, went smooth as butter. I installed Xposed and every module went without a hitch. Super SU works fine.... Go for it.
Only downside is that the bootlocker is still locked along with no access to custom ROMs, but every app should be GTG after root. Root also takes about........ 4 seconds lol
No problems here either. My battery life took a small hit, but not sure if it's because of root or an app I installed after the fact. Running xposed with g3 tweaksbox also without issues. Just recently installed greenify, haven't really noticed any major battery life improvements though.

Be careful about modifying build prop. I softbricked after changing one line in build prop, most editors truncate build prop. When phone reboots, stuck on blue screen with red number 2. Haven't tried Xposed yet.

I'm running some tweaks with the G3 tweakbox and for some reason if I'm watching Netflix and try to swipe down the notification bar, I get an "Android ui has stopped" error. Then the phone goes to the lock screen.

So I had started to notice lag in my note 3 especially bad after locking the phone. Most of the time I would try to unlock the phone but the screen would not even turn on. No matter how many times I'd hit the power button or home button. I recently rooted my phone with the cf auto root. However I was running kitkat 4.4.2 and build number of N900PVPUCNC5. I just went forward with the odin flash even though I had a blue light rather than a yellow one. It actually rooted my phone and opened SuperSU everything looked good it asked me if it should disable knox. I tapped ok and thought nothing of it. Went on with my business I had installed MOD EDIT: Name of warez app removed to remove ads on a game. After it did it's thing about a day later I noticed heavy lag. First I thought it was my sim Card cause the thing wasn't working in the first place so I removed it rebooted and still lag. So then I questioned root but I was unable to find a root method for NC5 build 4.4.2 so I thought eh it's alright can't be root. I moved on to MOD EDIT: Name of warez app removed removed it and the game which I used the patch on. It worked no more lag at least not as bad. So now I ask you am I rooted correctly and have a used the correct method.

Hey all,
I'm having some troubles with Adaway...
I've rooted using Stumproot and installed SuperSU. I installed Adaway and it is acting strange. Ex: Sometimes it will fail to apply the hosts file changes and other times it will just take a really, really long time (like 5minutes). If I try to disable Adaway I also have mixed results just like previously mentioned.
Is anyone else having issues like this? if so, is there any way to fix this?

I have the same issues with my Galaxy S5 as well. It seems restarting it and then immediately applying the hosts file will fix it for me. I also notice occasionally sites will simply load half way and take forever to finish loading the page. This is always fixed with rebooting my phone or removing the hosts files.

Thanks for the info. Glad it isn't just me seeing this issue.
It seems pretty random though. I've attempted to disable Adaway directly after a boot, but most of the time it will just fail, but sometimes it takes a long time and then completes...
This is kinda driving me insane, because other root apps (Ex: Titanium Backup) seem to work fine. Maybe just a flaw with Adaway?
I had this issue on my Galaxy S3.
Use the Adaway from here.
The one I refer to is the one at bottom of OP's thread w/ d4rken mod.
This fixed this issue on my Galaxy S3 and works flawlessly on the G3.
Give this a shot.

You are awesome!!!!
I tried "AdAway v2.8.1 with d4rken mod" as suggested, and Adaway is working great now!
I updated to Marshmallow using the kdz and tot method, got root no issues. Phone works great, installed su, Xposed V84, again no issues. Was able to restore most of my apps via TiBu, again no issues (except a few minor ones). I'm running Nova Prime for launcher.
I have G4 Tweaks installed and running no issues. BUT, I have no second screen! It happened last night out of the blue. Not sure what is going on or why it happened. It is simply not there either when screen is on or off. I did freeze some apps via TiBu but nothing other than the standard bloat stuff.
I went back to my original, 1st backup before I modded anything and the second screen was there.
Any ideas??
Xposed breaks 2nd screen. There's a fix but I dont know what thread or how to do it since I dont used Xposed.
Just pointing you in the right direction.
Thanks, latest version does not have the issue as I understand so I don't think that's the issue

Xposed 84+ should fix any of the issues with LG software... it's been the case for me, as I currently have a fully functional device with root, Xposed, and all the while being on MM. I haven't seen anyone come across anything like your issue, so you may have to do what I just did to narrow down my issue with WiFi calling and that was to install groups of things and doing a backup in between each group until you can narrow it down. luckily you have a backup where everything was functional that you can start off on. if you do find the culprit, I'd be curious to hear what it was. for my broken WiFi calling, it happened after installing busybox.

This may be a case by case scenario. Xposed 84 almost with certainty, broke my second screen and I had to flash the second screen fix in order to remedy the situation. Been working like a dream ever since.

Thanks guys. Yes definitely a unique experience I'm thinking. I worked my way back from my 1st backup after installing MM. Installed a bit at a time, backed up and kept going. I'm now fully where I want to be and all is well. I did not restore anything from TiBu except some of my basic app data (messaging, phone logs etc). Everything else I did a clean install from Google Play.
If I had to guess, something that I restored the first time via TiBu likely borked the second screen somehow though I really do not what or how.
My best advice to all, be patient! Go slow, install backup, install backup etc.
Hi,
I used l33tlinuxh4x0r's excellent script (here) to root my G3 running ZVB. It took awhile because of recurring USB driver issues (my Windows machine has some wacky ports) but it went nicely other than the time I spent with that.
I haven't done much else. I'm thinking of trying a custom ROM like Fulmics v5.1, Bliss v6.4, or CM 12.1 but, for now, I've just granted root to a couple things including Xposed, and maybe that's the cause of this problem but I wanted to ask before doing anything else.
Images, web-pages, videos - nothing goes to landscape anymore when I turn the phone. I have the Rotation toggle ("Auto-rotate screen") active in the Notification Panel and, when I go to Display settings, I see that it's enabled there.
Always looking for welcome suggestions. So glad that xda is here. Thanks, always.

I disabled Xposed and the 'Greenify' & 'G3 Tweaks' modules which I'd added under its framework so, nope, that wasn't it.
One of the initial attractions for me to this phone was its display so this is sad for me.
So I updated my LG V30s from Android 8 to 9 couple weeks after purchasing the phone and now I kinda wish I didn't.
Before the update everything was working absolutely flawless without any kind of lag to be seen, however after the update I'm getting these little hiccups accessing options and there's a weird
sort of transitioning lag when jumping between menus.
My phone is quite clean with very few apps installed, no games or apps with ads.
I've ran the usual maintenance features and cleaned cache etc but it's not helping.
Now I'd like to ask if this happened to anyone else? Any suggestions on what I could do about it?

There's a tip at the top of the KDZ thread.

Hi and cheers for the reply. I've actually done this before and now I did both steps 1 & 2 again.
The menu is still slow and it takes about 1-2 seconds to access and leave any of the option pages.
edit: I did a factory reset and restored backed up files. So far it seems to have less lag.
Hi, I too experience considerable lag when pushing the home button or when unlocking the phone, I even get "home application note responding" message to close or wait...
This started after the last FW update.
I am currently on V30q-EUR-XX, Built Number: PKQ1.1190414.001
