Hi, i have a MSI Primo 81 and i want to enter stock recovery, i tried every combination i could but it will just boot the device normally (not all of them, ie: volume down + power). Now there is an option in backup & restore where i can boot into recovery. Also i recently upgraded the firmware, 4.4.2 kitkat. I also did download a manual hoping there is information about entering recovery, no luck
I gathered the following information while i was in recovery:
Android Stock Recovery 3e
exdroid 4.4 kernel
Any idea what combination i could do or something? But i may as well just install CWM or TWRP on it.

I know this is old, but I just got one of these refurbed for cheap-
Just install ROM Manager (by CWM IIRC) from the Play Store. It has an option in it to reboot to recovery and it works fine; I just tested it on the 4.4 firmware.

Hi,
I finally unlocked the BL on my Atrix (4.5.91 from AT&T)
I downloaded ROM Manager and installed CWM Recovery. I managed to boot into recovery from ROM Manager once but now it's not working.
I get the Motorola Logo and then it switches to the android logo with an exclamation mark
I was thinking of flashing the touch recovery, found information here:
http://www.addictivetips.com/mobile/install-clockworkmod-recovery-touch-on-motorola-atrix-4g-how-to/
Is there a newer version? Are these instructions accurate? Do I need to be in fastboot to do this?
Also, I never flashed a ROM before
I really need a clear NOOB guide for doing this and would appreciate recommendations for ROM (if possible, ones that have Hebrew)
Thanks!!!
before you start digging an even bigger hole... STOP
you've already installed cwm so I don't know why you would need to install another version? Right now you need to get your phone up and running again.
Try these steps... power up phone holding the volume down button to get into recovery. Did that work? If so you should see the recovery menu - select data/facory reset and press power to select and then try and reboot system... does that work?
If not I think you'll need to flash the sbf file using rsd lite. Instructions are easy to find on here. Good luck.
I think I didn't explain myself properly.
The phone works 100%, I simply cannot boot into CWM recovery
when I power up holding the volume down button I get to what I think is the phone's default recovery. I get Fastboot as the first option and I can browse through with the volume down button
Anyways, what I would like to learn how to do is safely flash CWM Recover Touch (just because it's easier to use) and Flash ROMs
Thanks!!
Insure that rom manager is up to date, then reflash cwm recovery & try booting into recovery again.

OK, I re-flashed CWM recovery and it's working now
Before I proceed, I would like to backup my current AT&T ROM.
1) do I do this through th Backup and Restore in the recovery?
2) is this called NANDROID backup?
3) is it safe to restore from it?
I created a backup and again it does not boot into recovery. same issue
Will I always need to reflash it after each time?
OK, it only boots into recovery once after I flash it. Even if I don't do anything
ROM Manager is the most recent version (5.0.0.7)
Recovery is the most recent version according to ROM Manager (5.0.2.0)
Anyone? please help

Flash the recovery through ROM Manager one more time, boot to recovery, and flash the latest version from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1475444
See if that one stays working.
Hello guys,
I'm sorry to bother you, apparently with some more newbie questions. I just got an SGS2 GT-I9100. Finding the right kernel, flashing it and rooting the phone was actually easier than rooting my HTC Desire. I also installed CWM Recovery through Rom Manager and flashed a custom ROM (CheckROM RevoHD) just to practice.
However, with my old HTC Desire, I have the option to boot into Booltloader by pressing volume down + power button. From there I can go to recovery, or reboot the phone or whatever (in case I have problems or want to perform nandroid backup/restore).
I was wondering if the same applies to SGS2? I've tried all combinations (vol up + vol down + power or vol up + home + power) but I can only go to download mode. I also flashed through Odin GT-I9100_OLD_BOOTLOADER.tar.md5 but nothing changed. Is there a bootloader mode at all for SGS2 like there is for my HTC.
If I mess things up flashing ROMs lets say, how am I supposed to get into recovery by using a combination of buttons?
Also I downloaded from the official website the clockwork touch recovery... a zip file named "recovery-clockwork-touch-5.8.1.5-galaxys2".
Can anybody please explain me very shortly how am I supposed to flash this file?
It is a zip file so Odin would not flash it. I tried to install it from clockwork recovery as zip file. It said "successful" but when i entered recovery again, its still the old non touch version.
Thanks in advance for your time and help... much appreciated.

Your "boot into bootloader" is something similar to "boot into recovery" for the SGS2.
To boot into recovery mode, just press Volume UP + Home + Power buttons as long as recovery menu appears.
There you will find the options for normal reboot, backup and restore, wiping, fixing things, etc.
The bootloader itself in "open" for the SGS2. So no need to flash another bootloader.
Only if your are on Gingerbread (GB) and have a USB Jig to reset the flash counter, you have to flash the old GB bootloader.
If you want another ClockWorkMode (CWM) recovery, e.g. with touch recovery, then you need to flash a kernel containing this recovery.
For the SGS2, the recovery mode is build/contained in the kernel.
As long as you are on a custom ROM, you have to find a kernel, which is compatible with your ROM and containing the recovery mode you want to have.
Try SiyahKernel, as it is compatible for nearly all available ROMs and the latest (ICS) versions do have touch recovery.
Good luck !

Hey guys -
I'm having trouble getting CWM Recovery to work with my YP-G70. I've rooted, installed ROM Manager, wiped data and partitions, installed Odin, Used Odin to (supposedly) flash the DD_01142012.tar recovery to the device. Everything looks successful, but when booting back up ROM manager only gives me the option to go to "recovery setup" instead of the normal flash option. Even when I reboot it in recovery, it just goes to the standard android recovery screen. Any ideas on how to fix this? It may be painfully obvious, this is my first root.

Rom Manager does not work for this device ( I think ) and you should not use it. "DD_01142012.tar" is not just a recovery, it's the kernel too. They are integrated. Flash it again and hold power and vol-up during boot up to get to recovery then flash your rom...

The stock recovery what you have got.
If you press the home button, you can see the menu.
If you want to install a custom recovery, you can use my ported CWM, which works. This recovery is based on bgcngm ZTE V970 recovery, using his mtktools.
CWM 6.0.1.2 for Lenovo A390

You can install it - considering that your phone is rooted - with the help of MobileUncleTools; Possible ways from A820 thread.

Red triangle dead android still appears even with your cwm
Hello Cappa. I too have rooted my Lenovo A390 using framaroot. and installed ROM Manager. Initially, ROM manager complained there is no clockworkmod recovery for my device model. I then flashed your clockworkmod recovery using spflashtool. Successful and ROM Manager finally detcted my clockworkmod too as version 5.x.x.x.. But, then when i tried to backup my current ROM, phone reboots and tries to enter recovery mode. But, then the dead android killed by a red triangle still appears. Help me!!!! Somewhere i read that it is the stock recovery icon and the phone should still be able to enter recovery mode using volume up, down buttons. Is it true. Somewhere, I read that TWRP must be used instead, because LENOVO A390 does not have cutom recovery. What should I do next? Suggest. If TWRP should be installed, I would wish to remove CWM first. Is it possible to remove CWM, after it has been flashed?
Sorry for lots of questions.
Will be grateful for your help.
Regards

There can be many reasons for not having the CWM.
You mentioned that you could flash the CWM.
I have not used ROM manager for MTK platform - I don't know if it is compatible with it. I used Mobileuncletools instead: you can change recovery with this program (can be downloaded from PlayStore - free app)
Right after you change the recovery from stock to CWM, then you have to enter into it.
And then make a backup directly from CWM.
This is my suggestion.
Also, I would recommend that run the chinese application remover, right after entering the CWM.
The reason why I suggest it that the stock rom can contain patches, which rewrite all the modified recovery to stock.
can i flash twrp recovery with same scatter file to remove cwm
One more question. I found on several forums that TWRP recovery works for Lenovo A390 and can be flashed using SPFlashtool. Will flashing the TWRP recovery overwrite the CWM recovery, if I use the same scatter file. I guess the scatter file provides the start and end address for flashing into ROM.

Hello,
I visited TWRP site as well as CWM recovery site. Niether of them supports Lenovo_A390_ROW, not listed. I guess coz the brand is new to the market. ROM Manager too complains that the phone model is not supported and I should wait until an official recovery from CWM is available. However, I googled and got one CWM recovery by cappa for Lenovo_A390 but got the dead android triangle. Then, I googled and got a TWRP recovery for Lenovo_A390_Row and flashed this one too (some friends suggested flashing with same scatter file overwrite the previous CWM). But, I still get the dead andorid with triangle icon. What is wrong? I guess the recovery images that I am flashing are not correct. Do you have the correct TWRP recovery image for Lenovo_A390_ROW?
How can I use SPflashtool and make the downloaded cwm 6.012 a scatter file?

I downloaded SPflashtool and the CWM recovery image. It says I need a scatter file and it couldn't continue. How do I make that CWM recovery image a scatter file to flash and how do you flash that into the phone using SPflasher? Do I need ROM Manager for that?
Followup to my previous thread where I was stuck in a bootloop.
I flashed an older KK stock rom (17.1.2.A.0.314), rooted it and installed XZ recovery, but it is unable to boot into recovery. I have no idea if the recovery is even installed, or how to check for it.
What do I do?
if yoy no cant enter with Power Vol - , try install again recovery, or flash the firm and start again
