Coming to Amazon in the next two weeks. Will be a "free app of the day" on the day it is released:
http://phandroid.com/2011/05/16/plants-vs-zombies-coming-exclusively-to-amazons-appstore-may-30th/
I freely confess to being a "free app of the day" junkie. It's practically the first thing I do after my morning shower.
Thanks for the heads up
Hell yes! I've already baten PvZ on three platforms already, why not another? lol

Agreed, it's the first thing I do when I wake up, though some of the apps aren't worth the effort (task pad had awful reviews).

Thanks for the heads up, bud! I've been waiting for PvZ to hit Android for ages. Quite frankly, I'm surprised it took them this long to get it out, considering how much money the title has made across all of the platforms (I know I have it on PC and iPod). Can't wait...plus it's free, you can't beat that!

I tend to skip a lot of the offerings, but I've gotten some great stuff because of FAOTD... stuff like Beautiful Widgets Pro, Business Calendar, and tons of awesome games I wouldn't otherwise have gotten (Grisly Manor, Pool Break Pro, Air Control...).
this is really awesome!

If only there was a way to automatically grab the app of the day. Just in case you forget or, gasp, had no Internet access!
Zhin
it seemed that the app doesn't allow me to get anything from it as my region is not available. Anyway around this?

I used to get apps through appbrain market/fast web installer. You may want to try to get the region changing app through it.
What app should this be?
It's an american nook, with an american rom. So it should be Region America.
I have read that Amazon is checking the ip adress.
The only solution wold be a working orbot.
Happy happy joy joy
I'm a free app junkie as well... plus a plants vs zombies junkie. I put it away after I earned all of the achievements on the Steam version. Looks like I have to earn them all on the Android version now.
Happy happy joy joy!
This is sweet, I've been waiting for PvZ for Android system. Can't wait to get it
There's been a chinese version bouncing around but it has a tendency to crash, not to mention not looking particularly spectacular.
Gotta love Amazon's free app a day. I've been looking for a replacement for stock's Aces Bubble Popper app and today it's free on Amazon
Is there a list somewhere of what's coming up as a free app, or is it a surprise every day? (was hoping it was like their previewable goldbox Today's Deals for regular merch)

I think it's a suprise, to keep you checking in. This morning I literally launched the Amazon App Store as soon as I woke up, LOL!
How can I download from Amazon's store ?
I've downloaded and installed store.apk of Amazon , but when I click on "get app" , It annouced "...not for your region" .
May 30th and still no PvZ. It would have been nice if it came out today. Could have spent Memorial day playing. Man am I gonna be tickednif its not out tomorrow.
Well, it's out. It is tablet optimized. Runs great under CM7 (Phiremod).
(edit: according to the official description, PvZ is not tablet optimized. Still, you'd never guess that from playing it. Looks and plays great on a Nook Color. Like it was written for the platform)
ooh yeah, PvZ on my nook is nice, it being free makes it so much better!
Just ran across this, looks promising. We'll see what happens.

I like this so much I put $20 into it. Deal is if it doesn't fund you get your money back, so it's not much of a gamble. I'm not suggesting you do, that's your decision.
Update # 3 http://www.kickstarter.com/activity?ref=menu
Hope the final release does not ramble on as much! Last thing I need is another woman rambling on in my life.

Long way to go to get to $150k.
Hate to slam this, but there are like 100 Siri clones in the market.
Some are pretty good.
And didn't google hire the Siri developer from Apple last year?
Moving this to the right section......themes and APPS....
On another note what's so different about this from the countless others in the android market already?.....like iris, jeannie,...?

Sorry about that Slaughter, it was late. Check it out . We currently have nothing even close. This guy seem to be on the right track for sure. Did you take the time to fully read the guys credentials & watch the demo. Seem like this thing is a lot more sophisticated than anything out there now, i like it. Maybe Google will buy him out. One can only hope. Would love to see Apple get blown out of the water. This post wont get any coverage back here any chance of moving it back ?

i skimmed it...still there are a few apps in the market that do a ton if not all of what siri can do right now...
as for moving it back, im going to have to deny that as it doesn't make sense to put it up in general when its app related and doesn't really warrant the need to get huge coverage at this point anyway...If this thing starts to gain traction or become some kind of big huge event then maybe...
but for now app/theme talk is what belongs in this forum, so itll stay here in the mean time...

Judging from the video, this software is way more intuitive than any of the current voice apps. I'm using Speaktoit Assistant and Vlingo right now and they work pretty good, but you have to learn what to say to get it to do what you want.
In this video, the software seems to actually "know" what you mean and what you might mean and convey it back to you in a true conversational tone. In addition, it can differentiate between your "message" and "command" words intutitively.
Looks pretty impressive to me compared to what's currently out there. This seems to be actual AI instead of pattern or keyword recognition used in Vlingo or Speaktoit.
I'm in.

Yeah, I prefer Assistant by speaktoit for Jeanine type functionality. It works pretty well conversationally.
I can't remember why Jeanine didn't work that well for me. Not sure if you watched the SILVIA video or not but it appears to be much more intelligent with seemingly highly advanced memory and cognition.

I donated $20. Figured why not, I like the fact that it let him build on the outgoing SMS. Wish it would have shown up the message it sent, to see how good it was at putting his words down. Whenever I use a assistant app it always gets a extra work in their -_-
So when you make the $20.00 donation, you'll receive the app when est. release? Or do you get it now, then updates?

According to the kickstarter page, if the project gets funded, estimate release date is Dec 2012.
Hi, I heard about a second range of smart tags being released by Sony in late October, the NT2 series. Well, I cant wait that long so I took a decompiler to Smart Connect and can now proudly present SmartTag Maker v1.1 with support for all 8 tags.
I have just published the update to https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.vexedbadger.smarttagmaker so it may take an hour or two to update.
Let me know how you get on with it.

As always, all my apps are free and without ad support. If you want the source code, message me.

Cheers - if you can't wait for the play store to update, here is the APK.
I should state that my Xperia is currently being repaired so I developed it using a Nexus 7 and a simulator. Hopefully it looks as elegant as the first version.

Nice how you liking your 7, i just got one.
Absolutely loving it. It needs root and StickMount to enable USB OTG. Xbmc runs perfectly, playing video from pen drives and over by lan. Its just the right size as well.
I guess the biggest accolade is that since I got it (release day) I haven't switched on my iPad. I honestly didn't expect that.

Ok, I just think it would be cool if someone was able to make a Pokedex UI theme. I'm not a huge fan or anything, I just know that thousands of people would instantly get this app if they thought they could turn their phones into Pokedex's.
JUST SAYIN!

Actually found a way to display the dex rotating which was pretty bloody easy really, well at least on my galaxy S4.Simply use the built in frames widget if your firmware supports it and it will rotate them, the drawback is that you can only display each pic for seven seconds before it rotates to the next, anyway just a though in case anyone fancies trying it

Does anyone have an idea of how many AW watches have been sold so far for Samsung and LG?
The AW app still only has 50-100k downloads in the Play store and I know plenty of people are waiting for future watches etc but, I'm really concerned they won't be a success as I'm really enjoying mine.

I enjoy my watch too. Unfortunately it seems like all the reviews that I have read about the watches are negative. The two biggest things that bug me are the complaints on battery life and how "useless it is." Why is it such a big deal to charge your watch every night when you charge your phone every night. When you sit in an office you probably have your phone on your desk and it is easy to check it. I am an electrician apprentice and i love being able to look at my watch for the information rather then pulling out my phone. When I am sitting in school I don't use it as much. I use it for navigation when I am driving to a new job site and don't know where it is. If something is on my mind then I can just tell it to remind me later. I have also seen a few videos of people controlling lights in their house. I am interested in learning how to do that or using it as my key to get into my house. Smart phones can already be used as a key so it is only a matter of time for the watch? I love it and i love the potential that it has.

I wouldn't mind a bit of automation myself. For now it's mainly walking navigation, music, and sending quick messages for me.
I hope more people buy into it before Google lose interest in supporting them. My thinking is that when Apple bring theirs out people will become more aware of smart watches and that's when AW interest might pick up. I've noticed the app development has been much better than when Pebble was released so that's a good sign.

A great app to control your house is IFTTT. For lights you can use it with Philips Hue or Belkin WeMo. For locks you can integrate it with SmartThings. Once its setup you can open the app on your watch and swipe through the different triggers.
