Hi,
my Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 wont turn on, its stuck on "firmware upgrade encountered an issue, use Kies...".
Recovery mode wont work, cant connect to Kies because phone wont turn on, only thing it works is Odin.
I can enter Download mode.
I have tried:
1) Installed new stock rom with Odin, it says PASS in Odin, no errors, but again i cant turn on the phone, only black screen and "firmware upgrade encountered an issue, use Kies...".
2) Installed new Kernel with CWM in ODIN, it says PASS, but still cant get to Recovery mode and problem still exist.
3) Installed new ROM after Kernel, and everything pass great in ODIN, and when i try to turn on phone or Recovery mode, it just vibrates once.
And when i connect with USB it says "firmware upgrade encountered an issue, use Kies...".
I have tried different Kernels for this phone, different ROMs, different Computer, different USB cable, and problem still apear.
I dont know what to do ?
Download mode working, Odin works fine, but still when i try to turn on Phone, it vibrates and black screen, and when connect to PC it says "firmware upgrade encountered an issue, use Kies...".
Still cant get Recovery mode to work.
Also tried to connect with adb, adb cant see phone. Only Odin can recognize phone on COM port.
Is there something else to do ?
Thank you.

I tried to root my T Mobile Galaxy S2 using Odin method, and now i'm getting nothing but a screen that says "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again". I would happily follow those directions, but now Kies won't recognize my device?!?!? I also can not get back into download mode. I have no idea what to do. Is there anyone out there that can help?
and why would you flash a t-mobile device with i9100 rom????
obvious mistake
now get a JIG and pray...
@tulip: download mode should work... just press the keys a little longer...
try to flash back your old firmeware + kernel... had the same problem yesterday but it worked. afterwards you can do a cwm back-up
so I recently Tried to flash stock rom onto my i717 i think it disconnected half way and now its stuck in this odin mode i keep trying to get it into download mode but nothing will work i even tried a jig when i connect to samsung kies it says device not responding
any help here ?
Reboot your pc, start odin, connect phone to pc, odin will connect, flash your rom.
That is just another version of the download mode screen.
Are you sure you have an i717?

Looks like you have a different model then the i717. Read up top in download mode, and read through this thread... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=33601483
Flashing stuff for other model phones can brick your device so always read read read. Good luck
I tried to update my I9100 simply by checking for updates on phone. Everything was going fine but when i downloaded OS and it said that it will reboot now, it had frozen during rebooting. Now I can't enter recovery mode but download mode works proper. When I turn on It's just black screen of death and "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again" However Kies doesn't connect with it. It says that It has connection issues. I have rooted S2 with 4.1.1 OS and jeboo kernel 1.2.

Make sure you have correct drivers installed and usb debugging option is on, after widows loads all drivers when phone is connected disconnect phone using safely discoonect device and do a reboot and then after restart try again, also check your firewall and antivirus is not blocking the connection to phone.
Flash stock and go back to custom.
And please stop trying to update your device thru kies while you're actually on custom. Those two don't get along to well.

Hi i am new on forum, and i was trying to flash a custom ROM on S II Wimax ISW11SC, upgrading the 4.0.4 to 4.1.2, but the process failed at odin, and i tried to restart the odin mode, but the phone died.
When i try to turn on, i can hear the sound of boot, but nothing appears on screen. I tried odin mode, recovery mode, but nothing worked.
Can someone help please?
I ran into a serious problem and now I do not know how to fix it. It turns out that I wanted to install a rom to my cell phone, since the stock I had was giving problems with the battery indicator, and I tried to calibrate it and even used others also following different steps to calibrate them, but always the same problem; Well, after root I found the problem that I could not install anything from the recovery mode of the cell phone, there was a problem that was disabled and could not from the sd, or internal, or adb or anything. Finally I decided to find an application to install twrp and flash the rom, downloaded flashify and I did.
When I went into recovery to flash the rom the cell phone did not change the logo with the message in a corner that is not the official recovery as always comes out when a custom is installed. And there it stays.
I can not turn it on normally, because each time I turn it on it goes directly to the logo with the message that it is not the original recovery, as if trying to access the recovery.
PS: I can not use odin, it does not recognize the cell phone when it is in odin mode, since all the drivers are installed and the kies, I reinstalled everything 3 times every time I tried it. And I can not enter odin mode, and the home button does not work, I used adb, but since it does not turn on, it does not recognize it either.

To enter in to the download mode you can use JIG USB which looks like this :
https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/41MhETGCbBL.jpg
You can buy that jig USB on E-Bay
or you can use this tool but little Warning !!!

File was scanned against viruses and it has some , maybe because like that he make your device in download mode.

I'll try with the usb jig. Still don't know if buy the resistance and make one or just buy the jig. Then i will see if i can get for odin to detect the phone, using some kind of witchcraft or whatever hahahaha.
Thanks, I will set the thread as solved.
Good Luck
