Flash CF-Root
AND NEVER TOUCH ROM MANAGER EVER AGAIN
yes, re-flash the ROM/firmware may solve that problem.
I also have bad experience using the 'fix permission' thing. I did 'fix permission' from CWM recovery. Although CWM said it success to fix the permission, but then make all application FC. Then I re-flash the ROM.
Iam a noob can you please tell me how to reflash

Galaxy Ace have separate boot and recovery partition. So, to flash the recovery partition flash_image binary or write-raw-image command have to use "recoveryonly" switch.

Yes, have reported it but no reply so far.
Hello, I just updated my SGS2 to 4.0.3 and just finished flashing it, now I want to install a theme and these are the instructions:
REQUIREMENTS:
- U need rom without any themes or mods install, otherwise u will end up in bootloop
- Don't flash it even over my CWM packages, bootloop
- Make a backup just in case before flashing
- If u are installing mods from 2nd post, use only with name UNIVERSAL. CWM packages over universal theme will take u to bootloop again
- Uninstall JKAY deluxe settings app (when u flash theme, latest version will be installed)
- If u have any other mods (like phone with no inc. record.full pic), remove it. U will install it latter
- REMOVE ALL MODs PLEASE. U WILL INSTALL THEM ALL, LATTER
- if u have older version of JKAY APP (JkayDeluxeSettings), please uninstall
- Patience, installation is just little bit longer
-If u still got bootloops, but ur buttons are litenin, take out battery, put it back, power ur phone. Now u should not have any more bootloops and ur theme will be installed correctly
- Download the UNIVERSAL.ZIP file from the download section below and DO NOT unzip it
- Copy the UNIVERSAL.ZIP file to your INTERNAL SD card
- Boot your phone into CWM (hold Vol Up, Home & Power Button)
- Wipe cache
- Wipe dalvik cache
- Select 'Install ZIP from SD Card'
- Select 'Choose Zip from SD Card'
- Then select the UNIVERSAL.ZIP file you downloaded
- Reboot
- After this you only have to enjoy
The ones I put in BOLD are the ones I am concerned about, because I just finished flashing my phone, does this mean I cant do it, or do NOT flash after installing the theme? And as for mods what type of mods, like Rom Manager SuperSU and Titanium Backup? Just wondering and all because I am new to this, I had installed a nice theme a while back but it was taken off when I updated to 4.0.3, thanks!
If you just flashed stock ICS (not a custom ROM) then you're fine. That would have removed all mods you had anyways.

That is a CF-Root kernel...
But anyways, try booting to recovery and doing a full wipe. (that may remove the theme you just tried to flash, but I would think you'd rather have a functioning phone...)

Question... you said above you flashed "CF-Root-SGS2_XX_OXA_LPS-v5.4-CWM5". (which is a kernel, not a firmware or ROM)
Did you operate the phone in between doing that and attempting to flash the theme?
What version of 4.0.3 did you flash before you flashed "CF-Root-SGS2_XX_OXA_LPS-v5.4-CWM5"? Or did you?

Yes I was using my phone testing the new ICS and setting up all my apps and stuff since it was all unorganized then I wanted a theme because the base theme sucks so I downloaded this: https://sites.google.com/site/vertumusworld/downloads/Themes/Ice-Cream-Sandwich-Domination I downloaded the very first one mirror 1 after I had the theme I was going to flash my phone so I Googled my phone numbers I had XXLPS so I found a download and flashed it from that and it was working fine rooted then I went to install the theme now it just bootloops :/
OH!!! I just found a restore option from earlier today when I backed up everything with Titanium Backup right before I installed the mod, it is restoring now I hope that works and I wont install any themes LOL not risking this again lets see if it works!
EDIT: Okay I managed to get my phone back to around January and its all working just missing some apps and stuff but now I cant upgrade via Kies? So im just going to do a full wipe now and then upgrade then restore all apps with Titanium Backup, thanks for everything though
Hello guys,
I've got an X10mini (E10) (second hand but should not branded)
I'm actually stucked in a bootloop. It happened after I tried flashing the miniCM7 ROM with CWM.
I've tried the wipe data/factory reset frome CWM but nothing happened
I've tried the recovery option from my previous backup
Nothing
I've tried reflashing the Stock Rom (found in one of Xda-developers thread)
And I still got a bootloop (with the Sony Ericson logo)
Could anyone help me? =)

Why don't you try a repair with SEUS or PC Companion, that will get you back to original.
You said you did wipe data/factory reset, but did you wipe cache and dalvick-cache too (second one in advanced menu in CWM), because they're filled with useless junk from your old ROM, causing many errors.

I saw your thread.
I also have an x10 Mini and got stuck in a bootloop (colors swishing around on screen). I rooted, installed xrecovery - what shows up in the screen is cwm recovery v 5,0,2,8. I unlocked the boot loader, flashed this Kernel using flash tool (an older version): U20_nAa-14_2.6.29.6-nAa-14.ftf I tried to downloand nAa 11 but 14 kept coming up, so I put that in the firmware file along with the stock Kernel. I forgot to install the drivers, but the flash tool said it was successful. After disconnecting and starting the phone "Ana" words not the symbol came up and the boot loop began. Alternatively, on start up, I can get into cwm recovery. I didn't save the rom or google app zip on my sd card as I assumed I could that after flashing the Kernel, but the bootloop makes impossible
My goal is to install Android Fire 2.3.
I would really appreciate any guidance.

I don't know, apparently it worked fine when you connected it to your pc...
Maybe you could pull all your files off the sd-card to your pc, boot into cwm and format the sd-card (in mounts and storage), then reboot into the rom.
If that's all successful, put the files back on your sd-card.

What would happen if I select "apply update from sd card". This is the second option under CWM recovery.
Should I restore from Nanadroid. i s this necessary?
Could partitioning the sd card help? Thanks again!

The 'Apply Update.zip' does exactly the same thing as the 'Install zip from sd-card', but the first option only works for zip-files named 'update.zip' in the root of your sd-card, the second option will let you browse the sd-card and select a zip-file with any name. The second option is the one you use to install your ROM.
Restoring from nandroid, just fills your internal phone-memory with the old stuff you had in there, it won't affect your sd-card, other than that it reads the nandroid from that sd-card.
Your sd-card needs to be formatted with the fat-filesystem to work properly, so partitioning or not makes not much of a difference, only that the available space for your stuff (music, photo's, etc.) is less because the other partitions take up space too.
If you can flash your ROM in CWM from sd-card I don't really see any problem with your sd-card.
worked like a charm. many thanks!

Hello guys,
I was trying to flash Aeon Xperia S Lockscreen, and after flashing i got bootloop. What shall I do? Should i use:
6. Turning the "brick" into a smartphone
If you had unlocked bootloader and did OTA(Over the Air) update, then you probably ended up with a dead phone, aka brick. Don't worry, it is not completely bricked, still can be saved!
Download UnbrickingXperia2011.zip file from this post below.
Unpack the .zip file and place the .ftf file in Flashtool\firmwares folder.
Open Flashtool.
Get your phone to flashmode, make sure it is turned off, press down Volume DOWN button and connect USB cable.
In Flashtool, click the lightning button, pick Flashmode and choose the Xperia_2011_FreeXperia_ALL.ftf file.
Let Flashtool finish.
Install stock firmware and kernel to your phone.
Remove USB cable from your phone and start your phone.
Try not to brick it again, less problems for you.
Method or something else, because i can't boot recovery because I need to reboot to recovery mode. PLEASE HELP!!!
Are u on UL bootloader. If yes then just flash any other kernel from my signature . Recovery comes with it and flash the custom ROM from the recovery...
if u had made a backup before flashing the lockscreen zip u could have restored from that !! this is exactly why u should make a bckup in recovery before messing with your phone.. the point is always mentioned by the developers in all their works and still we ignore it.

background info:
samsung galaxy s3 i9300. Rooted with cyanogenmod Installer: http://beta.download.cyanogenmod.org/install
A while ago I tried flashing a costum rom, however i wasnt fully satistied so went back to cyanogenmod. My SDcard space went from 11gb to 2gb left. I went to recovery (CWM Touch) and formatted system and sdcard (which was a huge mistake I believe). As far as I know, I have no rom installed right now after the format. Ive downloaded MIUI and put it on my external SD and tried flashing it from my external SD. After wiping dalvik, cache and factory reset flashing went well. When I press reboot device CWM says "root access is missing, root device?" Now there are 2 options: "no" and "yes root device (/system/xbin/su)". Both options result in my phone stuck at the boot animation.
I thought because I had no root, I had to flash a stock rom. So I downloaded a stock rom and tried flashing it. CWM said "installation aborted". So right now Im kind of clueless. Can anyone help me and tell me what to do? Ive been searchin this forum for quite a long time now. Any help would be appreciated.
Kind regards

yap, there was a lot of data I couldnt access. I wanted to clear the whole SD and flash a new rom so I could basically start over again with a fresh new SD
Which stock rom you installed??
And are you able to flash that miui rom you talking about now??
If it asks fit root just click no.. That's a problem I guess with the recovery not detecting root but you still have it.. just not into your rom by clicking no... then if you don't have root you can flash a supersu file through recovery..

Yes, unless it is a repackaged stock rom you must use odin, not CWM to flash it. You could try using archie's rom or one of Wanam's in CWM. Or download a repacked stock that is flashable in CWM.

Yes the MIUI rom has been flashed "succesfully". Only thing is when I reboot my phone, it gets stuck at this screen:
