As some of you may know, HTC released the HTC One M8 for Windows, a Verizon-exclusive HTC One M8 running Windows 8.1. This got me thinking, our talented developers here at XDA have been able to port numerous ROMs from the M8 such as sense 6 and Google play editions using the M8 base. So how possible is it for the system dump from the new HTC One to be ported to a device like the Droid DNA?

Maybe possible, but highly unlikely due to the fact that Windows Phone is a completely different OS from Android, thus requiring knowledge of both OS inside and outside. Again, maybe possible but highly unlikely.

Anyone know if there is Android out for the HTC Radar and if so are there any tutorials I could follow to put it onto my phone? I didn't see an android development in these forums which is why I was asking.
Thanks,
Indian
Android on WP hardware is an abomination. I hope you never get to experience it.
The hardware on this unit should easily run android. Just look at the number or old htc devices that are doing that now.
Unfortunately, the Radar 4g didn't sell in great numbers, so I doubt any dev would want to spend their time and effort on it.
I would love to try android on my Dutch htc radar.

It is impossible.
i think its better for you to buy an android phone for you to have android.
if you want an android softphone, i think you must sell your radar, and buy one. only htc hd2 can install wp and android.
So what's the deal, are we getting jb. 4.2 and sense 5 or what?
No, because you asked
Seriously, no one knows but HTC
And if we were to get sense 5, I more than likely will stay on sense 4+ since its much better

Haha I personally do not like sense 4(+) much at all. I think sense 5 will bring a much needed aesthetic upgrade. We'll just have to see about the function as well. Out of curiosity, what leads you to think sense 5 will be a failure? I'm just wondering if you know something that I may have missed.

I personally do not like the metro look that sense 5 seems to have, gives a windows phone vibe to it
Hopefully it won't be as bad as I think, I might end up liking it but the screenshots I've seen I do not like

It's very rare that HTC device get updated versions of Sense with newer firmware. But it does happen. All you can do is wait and find out......
I dont like sense 4 ... anyway it will be ported from Buttefly or M7 as the image leaks...thats the worst case just we have to wait

Porting it from the butterfly will be a pain, since the resolution is higher.
I've played around with it and its a pain to try and mess around with those pesky m10 files

I'm sure sense 5 will have more to it than the one screenshot that we've all seen. Would be very disappointing if the HOX+ doesn't get it. There's too much pessimism and not enough helpfulness on these forums lately, so I'm better off waiting silently I guess.

Maybe because sony doesn't use the m10 code since that's specific to HTC
Give it a shot, we will need the images from a phone with the same resolution or edit the code so it shrinks the images the right size, and we will need the software from a phone with a similar processor.

It's alot easer to port roms from one sony device to another. Sony favours using the same framework for all devices in the same generation. So the Xperia Z framework prob would of already contained the high res images.

Most probably not, only Buterfly and DNA will get the official upgrade as they have 2G Ram. Sense 5 will be officially out once M7 / Htc One is out which will be true very very soon, targeted for March/april !
Then will it be easy to port those to the OneX+, that should be feasible even if the resolution is not the same.
I hope we'll get Sense 5 because it looks very nice (I've seen some images).
If HTC doesn't release Sense 5 on older devices I'm definitly going to put a rom on my One X+.
well, this is a bit disappointing, it will make me wonder if I am going to remain loyal to HTC or not. I guess I'll just wait and see the news over the next couple of weeks.
We should see more of sense 5 today I believe!
OK, NOW I truly want sense 5, with all of what comes with it.. guess I'll ask my service provider if they do trade ins..
Are there any difference between an AT&T HTC One and an unlocked HTC One (bought directly from the HTC website)? Also the HTC One Google Play edition, what's the differences?
I have never used an android phone before so this will be my first one. If there are differences, which one would be "better" (for a noob like me)?
Thanks

The regular HTC one (in your case AT&T the one from the htc website has a unlocked bootloader to be able to flash custom roms and root easier) Comes with not a normal android ui but HTC's own little thing Called sense. most of htc devices have sense the HTC one has the highest version of sense right now most company's have their own custom android ui. samsungs touchwiz, and motorola motoblur. the HTC one you buy from carrier does not have a unlocked bootloader. the google play editon comes with a unlocked bootloader , but does not come with Sense. it is a pure android jelly bean Stock ui which i prefer most, i would say the google play editions is more for developers or people who want to root it and flash custom roms but the normal everyday person can still use it

It is not pure jelly bean. It still contains HTC frameworks that over write the stock Android ones.

Yup thats how they got the camera to work so well for being a 4mp camera. Without HTC closed drivers and such it would never be more then a 4mp camera. The Samsung has it as well.
I've been using the iPhone since the 3G and am ready for something new. I've been looking at the HTC One and Samsung GS4. During my reviews of the HTC One, I read that HTC was in a financial meltdown. If this is indeed true, how would this affect the support/future updates for the HTC One?
I'm not familiar with Android yet and whether one can just put the latest custom ROM onto the device and have the latest version of Android or if the manufacturer plays any key role in these updates. Please advise. Thanks.
This could mean, if any DEV's are up 4 a greater challenge is a 4.4.3 GPE ROM Port to the One Max :good:? Verizon at best will take maybe 1 year or so to send 1million $ to create bloat, s we can spend time taking it off.
HTC One M8, M7, and other Google Play editions receive Android 4.4.3 as HTC posts kernel source
"By now you know Android 4.4.3 is rolling out to a variety of “stock” Android devices. We already told you about the update hitting Motorola devices (X, G, and E) and have received reports of the update arriving for the both the Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Play edition, and HTC One (M7).
Without wasting any time, HTC is now posting the kernel source for, not only the HTC One (M7), but the HTC One M8 as well. This means the M8 should be joining the party any minute now (along with other GPe devices). You can find links to the source code via the link below."

I have a One Max and the One M8 both on Verizon. In the M8 forums they cannot get the GPE roms to work properly on the non-GPE M8's so I doubt it will be attempted for the Max. It would be easier to port the M7 GPE 4.4.3 to the Max since the hardware is almost the same.
I've had a GPE rom booted on the max now for some months. Never have been able to get WiFi or Bluetooth to work for me. Audio calls works fine.
