Hi again
Have installed Jellybean on my 5830i and all is well. However, one app I want won't work as phone is rooted. Can I simply get unroot zip file for this model and run that without losing my Jellybean?
Just not sure if uprooting restores stock fw.
Thanks
Hello
This is either blindingly obvious or extremely complicated.
I didn't think it could possibly be either.
Pretty straightforward I would say.

Sorry but that reads like a foreign language to me. Many of the links to the flash process bring you back to this site. For instance there are many contributions about restoring imei after flash etc etc.
At least I think that was the case unless it was a figment of my imagination.
Guess it wasn't my imagination then. Thank God for that!

If you go to settings and see the android version and you see 4.2.2, it is fake. It can be easily changed to say whatever number you want. There is no jelly bean for galaxy ace s5830i. You are on Jelly Blast v3. Not jelly bean.

Yes, I am the proud owner of Jellyblast.
Going back to the original question: Is it possible to unroot without losing Jellyblast?

Settings say Android 4.1. I didn't think that was Gingerbread.
Really confused now. I thought Gingerbread was stock 2.36 or whatever that came with the phone and don't ever want to go back to that.
Thanks

I hope now you get cleared and more thing about that rom it's an Banded rom on xda so we can't discuss about it any more.

Look I don't know why this is complicated. I don't care whether I have gingerbread normal, gingerbread enhanced or jelly and trifle.
I'm simply saying that when I bought the phone I could not install Google. ( not compatible with device etc).
Now I have something which looks very much like chrome (v 2.6.6).
I'm sure it's fake, clone but I don't care.
Is that simple enough for you?

From your signature I assume you're using Mik_os's CM7 port? Correct me, if I'm wrong.
If that is the case, get rid of the fix, slap on the old baseband with lgmdp and you're done! Mik_os's ROM uses the old baseband, not the new one (the Rom isn't based on the official 2.3.3).

Hi guys,
just got my SIII yesterday, I love it, but I am a flashoholic and I admit it.
And since all of us have to decide for ourselves how much sin we can live with, I decided to go and flash a custom ROM on it very soon.
I just wanted to know: Is it possible to have a non-Samsung based ROM (read: Android 4.2 ROM) with the motion features incorporated and if so, do they exist?
Because I had a look into the Android Development section, but there are way to many ROMs for me to have a look at all of them
I know it might sound like a stupid question, but I kind of like the motions lol
Thanks in advance!
No, Samsung features are present only in Sammy-based ROMs, because the require the framework

Thought so... Too bad though
Aren't there roms like the de-sensed HTC roms, which offer the HTC sense features but have a complete stock feel (and I am not referring to just another launcher or so, because I already installed nova
Still even though I am a flashoholic I also wonder, is it really worth it, because it seems like my SIII flies at the moment

What he said!
Edit: I have tried a couple of roms. My ORD has now greatly reduced from my HTC Desire days, but I still crave the occasional flash. But so far I can't justify moving away form stock based roms. The missing features outweigh the need for a bit more speed. Even if I do prefer sleek and simple but pretty over bloated and "in your face about it".
If the custom ROM based on the STOCK ROM, does the motion still intact?
Yes.
Try http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2077019 . It is a mix of stock, AOSP, PA and Jkay's features.

So basically this is a Touchwiz rom, without the Touchwiz interface, but keeping the Touchwiz features? Or is it AOSP with some Touchwiz features built in?

I don't know what witchcraft it is, but I don't care either

I hope I'll be as lucky with my choice for this Rom as I have been with mine for the tf700. Picked one and kept on getting better. Never tried another Rom once! That sdbags fellow (the developer of that rom) sure can cook a nice jelly bean treat

I moved my sensitive data to SD card and then removed it from the device. TB doesn't really work without ROOT access anyway. After that I rooted my phone with the toolkit and installed a recovery. I did try doing a Nandroid in recovery just in case I wanted to go back to stock or whatever, but for some reason, Nandroid has yet to work for me on the SIII. So I took a deep breath and flashed a custom ROM all the same. Never looked back since.

Does anyone know how to root the new official firmware release from AT&T last month? (4.0.4 UCLL6) From the one post in all xda I could find on the topic. (It was as a side note) it was said the only way is to use ExynosAbuse. (They said it like it was easily obtainable knowledge...) So I tried that and got now where, even though it says that it is expoitable. (

It has also been confirmed that this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1746181 method works as well.
And if it turns out no root is available for UCLL6, I could resort to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1746181this method, correct?
You are the second person that has said the ExynosAbuse rooting method does not work with UCLL6. I'm not aware of any way to root that distribution at this time, so yes, you could install UCLE5 plus root.
My brother had he same issue with his Sprint S2 because the patched the exploit in the latest software release. I showed him the framaroot tool and it worked. It's listed to work on the i9100 but I've never tried it on our devices.

I came across Phil's universal rooting method on the i9100 forums a few weeks ago: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1746794. In theory, shouldn't it work because it only injects Superuser and Busybox into the proper directory and doesn't touch anything else? I've been meaning to try it out, but I haven't have enough spare time dedicated to flashing back to stock and test it.

I need something different to do for a few hours, and I'll be home alone tonight, so I think I will put together a stock plus root package for UCLL6. Don't know if I can get it done before bedtime tonight though. But if not I'll hopefully get to post it sometime tomorrow.

Awesome!
Shame about exynos, though it is nice that the security hole is fixed.
Here is the stock rooted package for I777UCLL6 4.0.4 ICS:
[Heimdall][Odin][Stock][Root]UCLL6 Stock ICS 4.0.4 with Root
.
Does anyone know if the UCLL6 version still has the eMMC bug and I need to flash a custom kernel?
Galaxy S3 T999 rooted and flashed more than daily.

It's unknown. We can only speculate. There were many reports of damage from the leaks that led up to the first ICS release, UCLE5, but the UCLE5 kernel itself did not produce very many reports of damage. I only saw two reports that could have been memory damage due to the cap erase bug, and only one of those seemed to be even half way conclusive. So it is possible it was even fixed in that release.
UCLL6 appearantly fixes some of the other kernel problems that were present in UCLC3 such as the sleep of death, so it may very well be a clean kernel, but this can not be verified by the developers on xda without original source, which is not available.
It certainly would be the safest route to use a custom safe kernel. And as a bonus, the custom kernels are likely to perform much better than stock as well.

Confirming that ur package worked successfully. Thx for putting this together !!
Did a full wipe before flashing of course. All is well.
EDIT: Fyi, Rebooted into the Stock LL6 recovery and did a Wipe data/ factory reset...Successful also. Rebooted and all is good. Perform this at ur own risk though.

Enter recovery and perform a wipe data/factory reset before flashing this, or the phone may hang on the Rethink Possible screen during boot.

Thanks just posted about this exact topic.
Working for me as well.
Followed the instructions in your "[Heimdall][Odin][Stock][Root]UCLE5 Stock ICS with Root" post and can confirm that the entire Heimdall,MobileOdinLITE instruction chain worked for me for UCLL6. Am now running CM9 without ever having incremented the counter.
Big thanks creepyncrawly!

Thanks for uploading this. I have a question for you though. I installed this and everything went well but my flashlight app is gone, and I can't get my camera to open. Can you tell me what I did wrong? I appreciate any help. Thanks.
Thanks for all your efforts
Thanks once again for your efforts. AS suggested by you before, I am on 1.29 with bullet proof kernel.
Is this 1.27 worth effort going back for better audio during calls? I am getting wobbling voice during on call with speaker.
And also when i clicked stock kernel to download it says Nocturnal M7 stock. so is it not stock HTC/Tmobile kernel?
Thanks in advance

No problem. I'm glad I double checked too, because once again the bt was broken. Not sure you the stock roms like to have more broken stuff then a custom rom. Lol

Should I just flash this instead of that TWRP backup you gave me in order to get my phone back to stock? Or will I be left with the same issues?
Hi,
Wondering if we need a corresponding firmware.zip for 1.27.531.x if we want to truly get back to stock after the 2.24.x update comes out for us on T-mobile?
I was thinking once the 2.24.x update hits us we're going to get a firmware update that could prevent us from getting back to stock 1.27.531.x for warranty purposes. Or if you just don't like 4.2.2 and you like 4.1.2 better.
I know we can flash the stock nandroid backup, but I'm thinking that stock nandroid based on 1.27.531.x won't work on a 2.24 firmware and updated hboot?
Or am I completely off and that nandroid would restore an updated firmware and hboot back to to 1.27.531.x?
(Man, really showing my noobish behavior today!)

If u jumped the gun and upgraded Ur firmware and used the 4.2.2 then u'll need to run an ruu or flash the correct fw.

Since we don't have an RUU from T-Mobile, do you have or recommend a 4.1.2 firmware for T-mobile users to go back to that would work with your stock 1.27.531.x roms?

I went to a Lab
Apparently, bc's i (maybe) made the flashing not like the op stated - the EMMC flash part in processor was damaged.
I paid more then 100$ to replace it.
The wierd thing: i still have Build KVT49L.LS990ZV4 in my settings (software information) But acually don't think i really on this rom(!!!)

So happy to meet U here.
I downloaded what supposed 2be this Rom and i had a ciritical issu that finished with harming the Flash part of the processor.
I remember 2many users complained about an issues after flash it.
I'm affraid that something with the OP tut is not clear.
We all need 2remember that most of us do not read fluent english.
I made in the past on a several devices Root & Rom flashing via TRWP without any issue.
I supposed 2know this...but in that Rom combine with that thus is my 1st on the G3 & that i am using the LS990 on a GSM/LTE out of u.s ---> it make it harder 4me.
So yes - i do need a good explanation on how to install this rom, how to setup everything.
I will need the explanation as you show a 4 years old kid how to count to 10.
Thank you very much!
