Hi All
I have been told by o2 that the following is a feature:
When my XDA has an incoming call, with the headset plugged in, the 'ringing' only sounds from the headset instead of the speaker.
Is this a feature or a fault?
Comments gratefully received
I'd say bit of both.
I've had my headset plugged in and heard the ringtone through both the headset AND the unit itself, but perhaps there's a way of making it so that the headset is the only audio (perhaps plugging the jack in whilst on silent then turning it back up?).
I've definitely had the headset ring out whilst the jack is connected.
A
Feature or fault, that's a hard one to call!
I would say it working as designed, since the headset will always override the speaker in any fashion.
I've never heard of this. All the US units ring in BOTH if the headset is plugged in. Unfortunately, message notification and alarms sound only in the headset though.
Hi,
As far as I have found out the behavior is not consistent. My device sometimes only ring in the headset and sometimes ring both. I have found out if you plug in the headset and connect via USB cable to the PC it will always ring both in headset and speaker. This is true even after you have unplugged the USB. Seems to me some flag I set during USB connation that enables this... ?!
For notifications - this only works via the headset... for me at least.
I find this annoying - the SmartPhone works as it should in regards to this.
I run 4.00.05 baked at this site... keep up the good work !
I had this similiar feature/bug experience too.
My XDA rings both on the headset and its speaker. One day, at some point, I managed to put it into a strange state. I started playing an mp3 with the windows media player (WMP) without the handset, it played thru its speaker (that's correct). And then I plug in the headset, mp3 came out from only the headset (that's correct too).
After that, I pressed "stop" the mp3 in the WMP, and then "play" again, mp3 came out thru both the headset and its speaker.
I don't seem to be able to reproduce this "feature" anymore now. Well, of course, that's after a reboot a while later.
In fact, now I've got a question then. Does that mean the on/off of the speaker can be controlled in software? AFAIK, like the iPAQ, it's controlled in the hardware, that means if you plug in a headphone, the speaker of the unit will be off.
Does that mean the on/off of the speaker can be controlled in software?

Yes, evidenced by the phone behaviour. Most devices use a simple contact in the headset connector to disengage the speaker, but obviously not the PE.

I would rather ask it to be a user defined option. I believe the current setup (both ringing) came after noticing that you can simply forget your headset plugged in so you may miss some calls.
But in some situations (ex: meetings) I would like to keep the headset plugged in and get the rining only through it.
Hi guys.
Havin' some problems with my Xperia Ray + stereo bluetooth headset SE MW600
I have my phone with good earphones connected via 3.5 jack.
I want to use it with my MW600 as a control panel for phone's music player.
But if i connect my bluetooth MW600 headset simultaneously with earphones - sound goes to the bluetooth instead of earphones.
Is it possible to change the priority of sound stream to go firstly to 3.5 jack and then to bluetooth?

Yeah you can. You can set your MW600 on FM and MP3/Phone. When you set it on FM, the sound from your phone stays in your phone. Only the calls are diverted to your MW600. So, plug in your earbuds in your phone, and select FM on Mw600.

Hey guys,
for the Xperia Z2 there are headphones which allow background noise suppressing for example when listing to music in the train or similar.
I now want to access these two microphones in an application of mine. My question is now whether this is possible or not and if it is possible how can achieve it. I tried to access them via the standard API of Android (AudioRecord), but had no luck. I also tried various different applications which can record audio but none of them worked either.
Thanks in advance and have a nice day
To my knolage, no.
The microphones on the earphones are not usable, simply because they are managed by firmware and this is the only device with this tech
Is this headphones, that have noise reduction don't work like a normal hands free, because they don't have microphone?
Send from my Sony Xperia Z2

They can be used as normal hands free headphones. The microphones used for noise reduction are also used for picking up voice. I don't know how they do it but it works. What I miss is a hardware button on the wire to pick up and end calls. There is none and you have to take out your phone to answer.
Yes the two microphones can be used when when calling someone. Another interesting thing is that when changing the input device to stereo microphone (there is an accessory stereo microphone for getting better recording quality available) instead of noise canceling headset the two noise reduction microphones can be used as input for example when using the camera app. But then the audio output is not on the headset.
Hi, please help!
My sbh52 Speaker suddenly stop working and have no sound at all...earphone output are OK and i Can listen music and answer calls but speaker is dead and when I answer incoming calls without earphone I cant hear their voice but they can hear me (mic is working)
I did reset sbh52 and reinstall software via pc companion (2.3.A.0.9) and reinstall SBH52 App.
after reinstalling sbh52 app a pop came up and ask for update sbh52 to latest version (2.4.A.0.2) so i updated to latest version (2.4.A.0.2) but updating to latest firmware did not resolve problem and still no sound from speaker!!!
My phone is Xperia Z Ultra c6802 (4.4.4)
I'm confused
No one?!!!
Send it for a repair, doh...
I had the same problem before. Finally i found that it came from the 3.5mm socket on Sbh52. Normally when you plug in the headphones then the sbh52 automatic switch the sound from speaker to headphones and vise vesa and this can be done by 3.5mm socket function (phisically). And somehow it does not reverse sound back to speaker after pull out the 3.5mm plug. All things that i had done just insert/pull out repeatly serveral times then it back to normal function. Let's try this.

Try going into settings -> sound -> Audio accessory and change it to noise cancelling headset or "other" and see if that solves the issue
