Look threw the forums, there is a way to root your device, you will need a sd card formated to ext (2 i think) and the update.zip file.

By root storage, it means not in a folder on the sdcard.
If you think of the sdcard as a folder with many sub-folders, then you do not want it in one of the sub-folders, but in the sdcard folder itself.
I hope that makes sense and hasn't confused you further.

connect your microsd to your pc with phone o with an adapter(better)
you can partition your sdcard with a partition manager, for example:
easus partiion manager, gparted...
you must have 2 partion 1-for apps(ext4) and 2-for your data(example music,photos...)
I don't have card adepter. Is there any way to do this? Please help. I have a little space on Internal memory.

Root your phone if you haven't already and install FolderMount, since the other options haven't worked for you. I use that and it's fine.

Hi all,
As to this stock lollipop firmware from Sony, have they allowed apps to write to sd card without root?
If not, I will stick to stock android 4.3.
Thanks in advance.
Cheers.

i tried this lollipop its not working moving to sdcard.
im searching lollipop root for sony z ultra but dont have im deleted lollipop i hate this.
Because we cant moving apps to sdcard.
I had no problems moving apps to sd... You are doing it wrong... No root necessary
I am still on 4.4.4 with root and LB as I dont want to upgrade to lollipop and lose root+x reality. The update detail says "move apps to sd card" so I guess we can only move apps.
Yes, I believe you can move some apps to SD card ? . I believe it mentions this on Sony Xperia™ support site.

You can move apps to SD cards. But they don't support to write access to SD cards for files . Using third party apps.
example uKto, Share it , etc

So it still has the same problem as 4.4, damn it, why would they do that... I guess I'll wait for an easy and tested root method before upgrading then.

this is true. although some apps have workarounds (ex. x-plore), a lot of apps still can't write to sd with lollipop 5.0.2 on xperia.

Help with rooting Dell Venue 8 7840 on 5.1 Lollipop

So I have followed all the steps in the rooting process for the Dell Venue 8 7840 on 5.1 Lollipop but I get stuck on one step. I flashed my firmware, then went into the Launcher program and selected T4, then it brought me to the screen where I can select a zip file. When I try to select the zip from the SD card it says can't mount SDcard, I followed all the steps perfectly and have tried this at least 30 times. If anyone knows of a way that can help me please let me know! Much appreciated.
Yup, u gotta mount sdext. There should me some point called "mounting" or "storage".

It didn't work. By the way, I don't have an external SD card so I'm using the internal SD card.

You have to unmount System, but it´s not proven to work yet. U might wanna get an external SD, it´s ~10 $ and guaranteed to work.
