SuperNexus 4.0 and Spotify issue - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
[ROM][AOSP][4.4.2][KOT49H] SuperNexus 4.0 - I9100 - Build 1 [25-12-13]
I'm using this ROM and I have some annoying issue with spotify.
Sometimes it plays normally etc, but sometimes it stops, like the application is not able to play music. Moreover, If I won't restart the phone, the phone will get warm and the battery will drop really really fast (in batery usage i see that spotify is repsonsible).
Once I restart the phone everything works OK, I can listen to spotify agian, device is not getting warm, etc..
I have no idea what is the issue, but i had never had it with different ROM. Is it well know issue, is there any fix for that?
Best regards,
fobofobya

Kitkat 4.4 has this soundbug . Guess all roms are more or less affected. There are tricks to help (something with how you format your sd card) that could help. Search different forums to get more info. Have not tried myself so cant help. Good luck

[Q] FreeX10 music skipping

Finally I decide to root my X10 and then install this great ROM FreeX10 b4. This ROM is working so smooth on my phone. I still can not believe it.
Now, I think some background processes are making my music playback skipping every 2-4 minutes, sometimes even more often. I can not find what app is doing this. I don't use task killers so could be anything. I try to find real time log app on market but I did not find anything like that. How I can find in specific time what is going on in the background? Any Ideas?
Please help if you now anything about this problem. I do not want to use any other ROM. This one is I like big time.
Thanks
Poweramp player doesn't skip at all..i had the same issue with other players though

I use PowerAMP for long time now. I also have huge buffer in the app setting. I think is not the player at all. It is not headphones, cables or anything. I tested couple headphones included BT ones. Also on my old default 2.1 ROM I did not have this problem.
Mast be background processes. A am 99% shore. Some app is syncing or something. I just don't know haw I can check that.
Am I only one with this problem on FreeX10 B4?
try rebooting and then running the music player to see if you still have the same issue. Then you will know if it is related to some application maxing out your cpu

That is what I was thinking but then when I download Watchdog task manager from the Market I found out that my CPU is hardly going over 40%. Other thing is when I am listening music over the bluetooth headphones skipping is happening more often then when is my headphones plugged directly into the phone.
Also same problem is happening with other player and other headphones. This mast be something related to the ROM itself. I don't know. It's look like I will switch to something else until B5 come out. I can not live without my music.
I'm on beta 4 and doesn't happen to me however so definitely not rom related
What else could be? I am on baseband .55 with multytouch enabled. Before I install this rom I did everything like usually: factory reset, wipe cache and wipe battery stats. My phone is originally X10a. What else could be wrong?
What other 2.2 rom is good like this one? I am unable to find anything close to this one. 2.3 is still to buggy. I can live without camera but everything else should be working 100%.
Today I have switch from FreeX10 B4 to Cyanogen6.1.3 because of this problem. Guess what, same problem still exists. So this is not really ROM related problem.
So, here what I have done to my X10
- rooting done with z4root inside my default 2.1 ROM
- .55 baseband (X10a) done with FlashTool
- dualtouch done with FlashTool
after that I have been playing with couple ROMs for this latest .55 baseband.
Every time before installing new ROM I did factory reset, wipe cache partition, wipe Dalvik cache and battery status.
What possibly can cause this skipping music problem? I really don't know what to do.
hmmm only thing I can think of would be faulty audio drivers... Maybe try seus then re-rooting your phone. To be on the safe side, maybe try .54 baseband with beta 4 (as that is what I'm on), could perhaps be the combo of the newest baseband (.55) with roms that were designed to work with the one right before it (.54)
I am using MW600, I also have same problem about music skipping after using FreeX10 & now CM.
M/time, except music, found that when I am listerning music & recieve call, after chat with MW600 & try to return to music, the device feel like disconnected (it still show connected in phone status bar) & music come out from phone speaker. Need to turn off the bluetooth device & reconnect again.

Music skiping is Xperia X10 problem. I been trying everithing and never fix this problem. Because of that I switch to Nexus S and problem is solved. X10 is a toy compare to Nexus S.

Music skipping on X10 in official 2.3.3
Sony ericsson released an official Android 2.3.3 update this week, and after I installed it the skipping problem listed here started happening.
Just for those of you who are not using official ROMs and are thinking that you might have made some sort of audio driver mistake, it loos like Sony made the same mistake, whatever it was.
I have flashed to a generic firmware then got the 2.3 update and now reflashed back to 2.1 for root and back to updated 2.3.3 I am experiencing skipping with the stock music app and google beta music app.
I really really want to loose the ipod secondary device. any answers yet?
You mean this?

[Q]Music suddenly stops playing

A lot of times when I'm listening to music and the screen is off, the music stops playing. Pressing the headset button does not resume the music, I have to turn on the screen and press the play button.
I had this problem on KE7 as well as I have it on KF2, my phone is rooted, currently I use PowerAMP, but if I can remember correctly, I've encountered the issue using Doubletwist as well. I even tried hard resetting, but the issue persists (I didn't really start from scratch but rather restored my user apps from a Titanium Backup).
Before I go through the tiresome task of uninstalling all the apps and installing them back one by one, I decided to ask for your help. Maybe somebody already managed to resolve a similar issue...
Settings> Motion> disable it... It may be because of the motion sensors... If you tilt the phone in a certain angle, the music stops playing...Just try, if it didn't work, then there is a problem...
This seemed to be happening to me when using PlayerPro. However, I had the trial and paid for versions installed, and it seemed to be the trial version doing this. Switching to the paid for version stopped the issue.
Could PowerAmp be behaving the same?

I have bought the full version, so it can't be this. The motion theory is interesting, but the phone was sitting on my desk when it happened today. Will try disabling it anyway.
Setting motion control to off did not help either. ;(

Hey man, im experiencing the same problem.
Glad to hear im not the only one. Ill be following this thread for answers. Im using PowerAmp as well.
Well, nice to hear I'm not alone.
I will try using doubletwist for a day or two, to see if it's a PowerAmp thing. But if memory serves me well, I already expirienced the same issue before buying PowerAMP.

Just came across this thread:
http://powerampapp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=1274
Interestingly somebody mentions Google Listen as the culprit. I do use it a lot. Will try removing it and report back. BTW: Pocket Casts is free today on Amazon Appstore!
Freezing Google Listen defenitely helps.
I'm having the same problem, both with the stock player, and BBC iPlayer.
I'm also using Google Listen... so it'll be a shame if it's that which causes the problem.
I've just checked my Listen settings: it's set to check for new updates once a day, but I've had the players stop more than once in one day. I also had 'send anon feedback' switched on. I've turned that off.
I'd really like to hear if it's the confirmed culprit (and how to remove or freeze it) - cheers
I've also heard the problem could be when the phone is switching between 2G and 3G mode: as I'm in a basement office, I have poor signal quality, so there's a chance that's to blame...?
Well I use Google listen on my nexus one for a year now, and it never shows up in my apps list using battery, nor does it ever appear in system panel lust using no CPU. Its been just fine.
I've found the music is stopping when I get Gmail messages (though not every time)... so it's one of my Gamil widgets, the Status bar (though I have notifications turned off) or the Social Hub.
Once I've backed up all my data I'm going to do a Factory Reset
Update:
I've done a factory reset, that didn't stop it.
I've removed the Gmail widget, that didn't stop it.
I've gotten a brand new replacement phone, that didn't stop it.
I've tried a different music player (UberMusic), that didn't stop it.
Anyone got any more ideas?
sorry to bump old thread, but Im also facing this issue and couldnt find it anywhere except this thread.....

check if you've installed any apps that prompt the auto shut-off of your phone
previously I had this problem before by then I realized it's due to the installation of one of my fault apps.

first of all,i think this is happening because of any new app,try to remember when it was started(maybe that time you installed any app and now that app shutting down mobile? or just go to task manger and clear each app that was running and also clean memory. if problem is gone and its occur again after rebooting mobile its maybe a Rom Bug,you need to change your Rom,but before doing that try to clear apps through task manger. and see what happens
i hope that helps you
Well first of all ...
Are you rooted? What is your Rom/kernel?

Thanks for the replies guys ok, here are some more info and observations.
I was originally using CyanogenMod 9.1 when this happened. At first, I tried wiping cache and dalvik cache. But it was still the same. After a few more shut downs, it got worse. It got to the point that it shuts down after the boot animation. So, I used Clockwork Mod to revert me back to rooted stock ROM. It's not as worse as CM9, but I still get shut down. Now, here are the observations I made:
1. This only happens when my phone is unplugged. It works fine otherwise.
2. This consistently happens when I connect to the Internet, for example via a browser, didn't matter whether it was Chrome or Dolphin. Offline reading via RSS or Pocket is fine. I opened FB unplugged and I got shut down as well, so I guess it's safe to say that connecting to the Internet triggers it. When accessing the Internet while unplugged, shutdown is immediate and imminent. Plugged, I can surf just fine.
3. It also gets triggered when I play a game, but my shutting down is not immediate, unlike the one above. I am playing only one game at the moment (Great Big War Game). And I am able to play a long while before getting shut down (around 30 mins)
It wasn't like this a couple of days ago, and I didn't install anything new outside Google Play updates, this is not counting the two logcat apps I installed this morning to try to diagnose the problem.
Is there a way for me to find out what's wrong via the logcat?

maybe its a cache problem of your Browser,so try to clear cache of your Browser and if its not working Flash a new stable Rom( i recommend you Sweet Rom,find it on XDA,its very stable and smooth)
and flash that rom with Hydracore kernel.
hope that helps you
have a nice day
Hi thanks for the additional info. It seems that you have the issue persisting on a stock Rom?
Have you tried to wipe on a safe kernel (if on ics)?
Do disable any overclocking or any scripts.

Guys, just a quick update. I sent it off to the service center (reverted to stock and hid all traces of being rooted). They reflashed the phone (they say it's their standard practice to do that before considering hardware defects) but the problem still didn't go away. So, I think my issue is hardware-related
This problem is not software related. It is most definitely hardware. The phone is flawed and shuts off on it's own under various conditions, all hardware related. I am not able to post externally due to not having enough posts yet. However, I have had the same issue on 3 Galaxy Note 2's from Verizon. I made a video that shows exactly what is going on and posted it on the following website...
wwwDOTgalaxynote2shutsoffDOTcom
You will have to paste that link in to a new browser and replace the DOTs accordingly to get to it, but once you see the video, you will be enlightened. Be sure to read the details I provided on that site as well. They go in to detail about the problems that I have had and the lack of proper support that Samsung is willing to provide.
Take a look at the video I made here if you can't get to that site: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SjLn2yikYnI

[Q] JB hiccups when playing music

10 days ago I upgraded my SGS3 to JB via Kies. Since day one I was having problems with poweramp player. In every song I could hear one or more short pauses. It was really annoying! I tried different "audio buffer size" settings but it didn't solve my problem, so I thought there was something wrong with poweramp. I switched to playerpro, but it did not help. I tried winamp and even stock player but still I had random hiccups. I was so desperate to fix it and decided to do factory reset. It did not help either!
I thought there was something wrong with my branded rom, so I flashed BTU JB version. Still hiccups. I moved all my music files to internal sdcard, disabled music FX, bluetooth share and bluetooth test processes but still no success. Yesterday I gave up and switched back to ICS. Problem solved!
Do you guys have any clue what could cause this? I know I am not the only one who have/had this problem, but have not seen any solution.
Hope you can understand my poor English.
I had this with dlj1, solved with dlj4
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
The one I tried was I9300XXDLJ4. As mentioned earlier it did not solve my problem.
Never seen this problem on multiple roms ..
Might pay to wipe phone and install clean .
jje
I did wipe data, cache and dalvik cache before flash 4.11 BTU. What else can I do?
I hate having uncommon problems .
this is cause by the memory leak bug. I used supercharger and everything was gone. frequent lock-ups, music hiccups, etc
Thanks bordikun! Instead of playing with scripts I will try latest Omega rom. I see that V6 SuperCharger is included.
bordikun, may I know what settings do you use for Supercharger? I installed Omega 32.1, my phone is 100% Supercharged but I still experience hiccups. I don't have any other problems with the phone, it is like a rocket now . Apart this little, but very annoying audio problem.

Tried. Didn't help
Even tried b changing audio priority to highest.
Specially happens if I'm browsing something and some picture starts loading.
Doesn't happen in my year old iPod.
And I don't think it used to happen in ICS
I had a similar problem which i think i worked out to happen when a message was coming through or a application was updating, leading me to think it was a low RAM problem so maybe this could be whats happening, if alot of things are open in the background. Either that or processor isnt working fast enough. If your rooted and have a custom kernel try changing the profile to maybe a performance one?
But this didn't happen in ICS... jellybean was supposed to speed up our device not to make it crawl... looks like touchwiz is really  :banghead:

I'd say probably not - I can confirm I've got this issue too, after upgrading to JB. I can't see why so many with the same problem would mean that all our phones are faulty.
Has anyone got a resolution for this?
Mine does it too.. Its just cause of too low ram or something. Never had this problem on S2. This is just samsungs way of saying "upgrade to the S4"
This phone would be brilliant without all these microlags because of low ram..

Same for me since the JB upgrade in Poweramp and Play music. I thought it was something to do with my setup but had the sudden death failure on my phone so started with a clean install when it came back. Problem is still there with my new 32GB mboard and I haven't done any restores of apps.

It seems like some apps when they give ask CPU ( or RAM ) for something, the focus shifts from the music to that.
Like when weater widget asks polls for weather or something.
Funny how my 6 years old SE Walkman w800i was able to play for hours without a micro shutter.
And this almighty phone can't do a simple task,
It's worse when I try to browse and play music.

I agree. I've noticed it mainly when getting notifications through. It seems to me that it's down to bad RAM management. My Desire had less ram but played music fine with ICS.

Can't even listen to song on PowerAmp while surfing Facebook in the app or browse lightly on Dolphin .

And if I press home button, Nova launcher reloads.
I'm on stock LLC with stock kernel.. Rooted.
Any solutions?
I tried many things, new roms, new kernels. All megawipes and stuff, nothing works..
Same problem here . It's so annoying. Given the great number of people with the same problem, I don't think it is a phone problem but a JB one!! Please!!! Help!!! I already tried changing the buffering size and even though it did help a little, I still get some stuttering!
Here's what I think I've worked out so far.
The problem has only arisen since JB and was fine in ICS. A change of handset has the same issue with a clean install of JB.
It seems to happen across different music apps but tunein radio is fine so isn't a specific audio app. Could be that it's linked to a particular file format, e.g. mp3?
When it happens in Poweramp I can see the buffering constant, it never fully loads. Increasing the buffer size and priority doesn't help.
Notifications can make it stutter but it seems that the problem is already there beforehand from the buffering.
Clearing RAM doesn't seem to help, however rebooting the phone will improve it for a while.

I had the same problem.
Deleting the musicplayer widget on the homescreen fixed my problem.
Try deleting it or any other widget you have on your homescreen.
Think I've got a solution in poweramp. After a reboot go to settings/misc/tweaks and select keep service. It hasn't had any skips since I've done that and battery life/performance still seems OK. Early days yet though.
