Sprint G3 bloatware list - Sprint LG G3

Updated October 25, 2014
This is what frozen so far. Phone has zero issues. Everything works as it should. Battery lasts much longer. I get close to 2 days of use with 6 hours of screen on time. If you are unsure what an app does, google it. Most of the info is available online. I don't take any responsibility for damaged phones.

Exactly, that's why they are frozen.

what exactly does freezing an app do and how can I do it in Ti? I appreciate any assistance.:good:

Prevents it from running. It's a same thing as disabling it. You need root access and Ti. Open Ti, them click on backup restore, lastly click any app you want and select freeze in the pop-up.

I disabled 95% of the apps you listed, I kept about 5% because they were things i liked/used. I'll give an update in a week to tell if I notice any abnormalities with the phones operations.

Just curious. Why would you freeze rather then uninstall? Is it precaution in case it causes issues?

If you uninstall the app and try to do a factory reset, your phone will be bricked.

What if you freeze the app and do a factory reset? Will there be any problems?
Do we have to unfreeze the apps first?

This is awesome, much thanks. I just have one question. You said not to turn off Permission Setter but I can't find what you are talking about. I have Preferred Activity Setter 1.2? Is this the one you mean?

Still working on it. It seems like all 4 cause problems. So far, those 4 are not frozen and I'm getting good results. I have a feeling that leaving them unfrozen is the best thing to do.

Have you guys frozen Amazon preloaded 1.03?? Thanks..

Now that we have root, which bloatware is safe to remove thread?

Mod's please delete, move, whichever need be. I wasn't really sure where to post this.
It'd be awesome if the community chimed in now that we have root on which bloat is safe? to remove using titanium backup or such?
Thanks guys!!!!!
PS: YOU DEVS ARE EPIC WIN! for the root
Here's a list by XDA member 12345678(!?) for the S3. It should be similar. As you have root and titanium backup I would suggest you first freeze something you know you don't need and then try to unfreeze it. If that works freeze everything one by one till you notice that you have broken something. Take your time so that you can detect what if anything causes problems when you freeze it. On my old sgsI (still working) even froze Google Maps because it was always stealing ram.
Good luck

bloatware
Those are the ones I got so at least now I am sure
So, I'm officially rooted and started cleaning off some of the bloat that I trusted could be uninstalled. I'll post them below. I've decided to hold off on doing too awful much since I don't know what's safe and what's not and I'm not familiar enough with rooting/freezing/uninstalling to feel super comfortable doing it until I have a more set list of what's safe.
That being said, here's what I've uninstalled so far:
Audible 1.4.3
NFL Mobile 6.1.1.1
Yahoo! Finance 120906.01
Yahoo! News 12.09.06.01
Zappos 2.7.0
Hope this helps someone...:fingers-crossed:

I backed up every single one I uninstalled. My friend said all I have to do is restore them and they'll be back and I can update no problem. :good:
That has always been my route, to backup the bloatware apps I plan on removing my cut/pasting them to the microSD card then copy them off the card and delete. I have them ready for reinstall if needed.
Is the list pictured above a list of bloat applications that are safe to remove, or what's left after removing the bloat applications?

It'd be nice if somebody described each app briefly.

Let me know which of the apps you want descriptions for and I'll see if I can provide you. About 1/5 is test applications or factory applications used for 'servicing' the device.

Z2 and Greenify

Is anyone using Greenify with there Sony Xperia Z2? I ask this because the Z2 already has a great batterylife and the stamina mode,
Any thoughts on this?
thx
It makes a large impact on battery life when you crystalize google apps (exept framework and gplay) however not much else makes a huge difference
But with the Z2 i personaly dont care, i get from 7hrs to about 1 week of life with the Z2 and thats good enough for me

amazing! how u got 1 week ? not using the phone ?
I used greenify but it doesnt help as app processes are restarted and kept in pending hibernation! I use Xtreme Booster and it keeps my memory in check! After installing nearly 100 apps, I still get about 1.5GB free RAM! As for the battery life, I get around 8 hours of screen on time with continuous browsing and chatting via Wi-Fi which is just great!!!

PS.: I just cant do this step:
But if you use maps always and you are ROOTED, my advice is that you open up TitaniumBackup, look for maps on the list of apps, long press it and then convert to User app. Now u can Greenify it and it will still be available whenever you need it.

Sadly, the latest versions of Titanium backup has removed this option. But here is a work around. Uninstall Maps in Titanium Backup. Then re-install it from Play Store. Now it will install as User app instead of system app and u can freeze it.

I don't see why they wouldn't...it is the same Android Wear isn't it? (aside from a few extra apps here and there)
Working on a app uninstaller too. I know this isn't supposed to be a standalone device and this stuff will probably only be in the rom I am working on. It's all new to be but I'm enjoying messing with it. ?
I think wear does need an uninstaller. Some wear apps dont show in the launcher of your phone, only in the apps list on play (where they can get buried easily) or worse on the apps tab on the phones settings menu.
As it stands if you have a problem with your phone you cant do anything with a Wear device. So if that app is malware, or otherwise borks your phone and/or watch, tough.

Yes! It will be great a "night" mode. I sleep with the watch, and I want that:
- the screen must be off
- it must change to on (but dimmed) with a touch, double touch or something similar, but not with the movement of my arm
- it must be easy to activate/deactivate this "night" mode
It will be a very useful utility!
And now I'm playing

TV Boot (Reboot and Shutdown App)

One of the things that I found lacking with my Nexus Player was the ability to reboot straight from within Android. As such, I decided to write a small app which allows me to do just this. I have also added some other small features, such as Reboot to recovery, Reboot to bootloader and Shutdown. I hope that you find my app useful and I look forward to any feedback.

Yes, sadly that is the only way I found to reboot.
It'll be nice to add icons on buttons.

Didn't know that as I am yet to flash 5.1. However the added features such as reboot to recovery as well as the fact that it's faster than going through the settings should set it apart.

No doubt this is a more elegant solution. I installed the app and will be using it, thank you! It was rather fyi.
It would nice if there was kinda "Sleep" button (not sure if it's actually possible, but I think it should be).
And, also, how about "kill all background tasks"?
+1 for the sleep part. I don't think mine ever goes to sleep

I'll look into it however I doubt that I will add an option to kill background tasks as I believe that Android does a good job by itself and closing the apps manually does more harm than good.
task kill is not necessary since Android 4.0, but I will echo the request for Sleep. It would be nice to make it Sleep just like any other Android phone.

Not such a funny joke, actually he is doing a good job, if he wanted to be stuck in one ecosystem he would buy an iphone, samsung is always putting so much bloatware, unwanted apps into their devices. If someone does not use a certain app, why wouldn't he just disable it? I can't imagine using a samsung phone without hardly debloating it first
With all due respect, Inform yourself first than write nonsense
