[Q] Camera start gesture - AT&T HTC One (M8)

I find I keep activating the camera when I take it out of my pocket and in some cases actually snap pictures. Does anyone know how to deactivate the gesture to open the camera? All I see is that I can turn off all gestures, I only want to disable this one. Thanks!

I was trying to figure that out also

You must have some huge pockets to be able to take your phone out in landscape orientation and press the volume key at the same time.
I've tried to duplicate your issue but can't. Do you use a case? Maybe your volume rocker is really sensitive.
A custom ROM is all I can suggest but that would be the same as turning off the touch gestures in Sense. I wish HTC would have made it where you can turn off each gestures individually and I was kind of hoping that was the case when I got my phone.

G-Sensor on Titanium HomeScreen

There are some programs which allow users of HTC devices to specify what programs they want their G-Sensor working in. So they can specify that they do not want their titanium home screen to utilze the sensor.
The program will not work on the TG01 because it relies on the HTC G-Sensor driver. Is there a similiar program for the TG01?
Thanks!
I've not found anything that does this yet on the TG01 - the fact that the homescreen rotates is extremely annoying to me - especially as the wallpaper rotates too and then it tiles it - a very ugly effect. Wouldn't be soo bad if the interface rotated but left the wallpaper as it is.
For this reason i've disabled the G-sensor completely but i miss the functionality in other things, such as viewing photos and such.
Does anyone know a good way for the Tg01 to rotate without G-Sensor on-demand? Maybe by mapping a rotate function to the camera key?
Otherwise can the sensor be made less sensitive as 90% of the time when I pull the phone from my pocket it unlocks in landscape mode. Or rather it spends wasted time flicking between orientations so that I can't grab the unlock slider easily.
get a 800x800 wallpaper.....
ive you deactivated the g-sensor you can switch from portait to landscape etc with the vol. up key... just hold the button for 1-2 sec and the screen switch.
Perfect thank you! I either missed that in the manual or it wasn't in there.

Any way to flip screen upside down?

I just installed VeganTab ginger edition. Everything is working. The only beef I have is the screen of course, but I noticed that it looks much better upside down and I can get better viewing from this angle. Is there any way to flip the screen upside down? Maybe an app or a setting somewhere? It looks a lot better upside down. thanks.
Hmmm, not sure how upside down will be better but go to Settings/Display and deselect auto-rotate screen... Turn it over...

Upside cown IS better. what he means is have the screen flip 180 degrees, so that the buttons are now on the left, and the power/volume on the right.
I'm not sure how Vegan ginger works, but most roms/launchers do allow for autorotate. The problem is, some apps won't follow your rules. If you have autorotate on, then you can justify your home screeens, app drawer, etc. simply by flipping the tablet around. Some apps prefer to work in portrait, so they won't be able to be used in landscape. Other apps (death worm) automatically load upside down, so for you, it would load normally. Most bideo players will only load in the default landscape position, and won't help you out.
The other issue, is that with the buttons in the palm of your left hand, they accidentally get pressed a lot...That's my one complaint with deathworm, I have to hold my hand above the tablet, while moving around with my finger...my wrist/arm gets tired after a while...simply because I don't want to accidentally hit back, or home.
Yea. I think all of the rom makers should include an option to load it all upside down (you know what i mean). I cant find any app that can do it.
Interesting. It looks like if you hold it "upside down," you get better viewing angles with the tablet held parallel the the ground, but if you hold it right side up, you get better viewing angles with the tablet held perpendicular to the ground. So if it's sitting flat on a table, yeah, you can see the screen much more clearly if the camera-side of the tablet is closest to you. But if it's sitting on a stand at a steep angle, you'll want it right side up. (This is all assuming you're holding it in landscape orientation. In portrait, it doesn't seem to make a difference.)
aha! found it under settings->vegantab settings->display then just enable "rotate 180 degrees". however I do not recomend it for general use because the home, menu, etc. and even power buttons get in the way too much. But for watching movies etc it is much better rotating it in the upside down orientation with this enabled.

There is an app that let's you disable the buttons...I can't remember what it's called, as I've never used it. But that might come in handy, as long as you have corresponding softbuttons as well.

YACT - Yet Another Camera Thread

Ok, so this is an issue I can't seem to find anyone else complaining about.
My physical camera button won't activate the camera flash.
Now I understand that If the camera is set to Continuous Shooting mode that it probably shouldn't flash - but I've turned that off and I cannot get it to flash unless I use the on screen button, which is difficult for me.
Anyone else having the issue?
My camera rarely flashes when using the camera button, the time it did, it was in Portrait setting instead of 'auto'. I don't want to hijack your thread, but this is a good place to ask... Why can you hold down the camera button to take a stream of photos in modes other than Auto (I understand not allowing it in HDR), but the other modes don't seem to make sense...

I was thinking about that last night when I was trying to get my flash to work and playing with settings. It seems like you should be able to take a burst of landscape photos.....or anything else except HDR, and possible some of the lower light combinations.
My physical shutter button activates my flash just fine. For continuous, it flashes on the first shot, but that's it. It will take continuous with the physical button also

Motion settings?

Hey guys
First time poster, long time reader.
Basically I was wondering if anyone else thought SOME the motion options for the SIII were abit, shall we say, crap?
The double tap for the top of a list doesnt work on anything but stock apps??
The swipe to screenshot is very cool, but often I swipe to a different page before the shot has taken.
Also the waving infront of the screen to silence music is questionable.
The only ones that are decent IMO are the one where where your on a contact and put it to your ear and it calls, thats cool, and the turning the phone over to silence.
Anyone else notice this? Any tips on getting them to work better?
Yeah some seem to be a huge flop, I like the screenshot one and the camera unlock, You could always try recalibrating your G-sensor to make it more accurate. The way I look at it is most of it's really a novelty and is more annoying than good.
Whats the camera unlock one?
Ill give the sensor recalibrate a go, see if it helps
The unlock into camera is rather useful, it works by clicking your power button once on your phone to show you your lock-screen. then you put one finger on the screen and turn the phone from portrait to landscape and the phone unlocks into the camera application. this has its limitations still, for instances you can't make it unlock into a third party camera application and if you have a motion, face, PIN or no lock it will not work.

[Q] Any way to keep screen on while in a call?

I have a problem with my proximity sensor (probably dust?) and I can't clean it. Now, every time I get a call on all roms I tried the screen shuts off (that is normal) but won't turn on (ie. if I have to press keys while talking or activate speaker)
The only way I have for now is flashing a very bright light on the sensor and it only works sometimes....
So my question is : is there and app, a dialer, an option, a way or whatever other trick to have the screen turned on while in a call?
Peek at this:
http://androidforums.com/htc-amaze-4g/672412-proximity-sensor-problem.html
Supposed to be a free tmobile proximity sensor recalibrator here, but the page wouldn't load for me. Maybe it is available elsewhere.
Also, if your screen protector is covering it, maybe that is making a difference?
I couldn't find a way to disable the proximity sensor or change its sensitivity, however there might still be a way.
Good luck.
