The traditional way to calculate available memory on a linux machine is to add MemFree + Buffers + Cached + SwapCached as read from /proc/meminfo. Buffers and cache are memory used by the kernel because it is available but can be released if needed.
I noticed your recent apps we're empty, did you clean this between the two readings? If so, that could explain a jump in free mem. If not, it's possible the application manager knows about other soft allocations unique to android/this rom that your app does not.

I cleaned it before the screenshot. The first pic shows as 2 gigs of ram. The second shows the 3 gigs of ram.

My ROM has memory tweaks applied but I want to exclude HTC Sense from being killed. It dies even when there is a lot of ram available.
I expect it to reload after a Game or Video sure, not general applications.
I was thinking of searching back to the old tweak Aakiam(Sp?) had for the EVO 4G with keeping Sense alive. (EDIT : Found it. Currently trying ro.HOME_APP_ADJ=1, still testing though.)
I'll look for that but I just want to know if it works with the current EVO? Before I go messing with the build.prop.
If you have an alternate tweak that does work, could you point me in the right direction? Thanks.

According to the supercharger thread ics ignores build.prop and instead its hard coded into services.jar from what I gather.
Can you download auto memory manager and check the OOM priority for your launcher?
The priority should be 1 for the default launcher. Priority seems to be 5 (killed more easily) for the non default.

The built-in data counter is awesome, but I'm not sure on it's accuracy. From what I can tell, the overall usage is pretty much dead on, but the individual apps data usage add up to more than the total...

Notice the first three apps add to well more than the total. But I think the total is accurate, not the individual apps. I could be wrong.
external app is better,
Thanks, I think I'll use Onavo then. I think I also noticed individual apps totaling a different sum than the total shown...
My counter in jellybean is pretty much bang on, I ditched "my data manager" because it always said I had used loads more than I had. And the apps sum up to the right total here, can't vouch for the ICS version though. Get cm10 if you can
UPDATE: After further use its underestimating by 200mb, tbh it seems to have stopped counting. Most accurate external app at least for orange uk is 3g watchdog. You can pre-enter the data you have already used too!

I have the same problem running 4.1.2 using Motorola's stock ROM. However other people I know running jelly bean have data counters that work fine. Maybe a problem on Motorola's end?
Recently I found some settings by which my phone xperia u became smoother and performance was enhanced ( quadrant score went beyond 3000 for first tym)
Go to developer options
1.Set background process limit from standard to 2
2.Enable gpu rendering
These settings do work
Just check ur benchmark scores before n after to confirm
Press thanks if this helped
It doesn't helped much but round 100 points more in Antutu
working. I never saw my Flipboard so fast like it is now. My Quadrant improve from 2400+ to 2900+. I think this works especially with simple apps like face, flipboard, etc.
While you may get better performance in particular apps, because of it closing down other apps so all have a bit more free ram. You do loose out on the multi tasking front, and when opening apps after each other the phone will have reload the app info.
I prefer having my most used apps still open and running. So that they open right away, rather than having to wait a second or two for the app to launch again.
But it depends how you use your phone I guess
Try again it will cross 3000
Forcing 2d acceleration makes your 2d quadrant score higher, that's all.

Well, I have used many torrent clients but the best I can say is BitTorrent Client. Easy to use and simple. Does not take much RAM and internal memory. aTorrent shows many ads and it mess me up. So, I suggest all people to use BitTorrent or you can use uTorrent also. These two are simply best.

I need an app modified. A cooking temperature app. What I need is for someone to change the preset temperatures for the different meats and doneness levels. I have tried on my own. Downloaded some apps, downloaded WinRAR and poked around and couldn't find the temperatures or doneness levels. I did this with multiple apps, not just one.
I haven't chosen the app yet. I want to wait until someone is willing to do the work. I am willing to pay. If you are wondering why, it is because they are all set to USDA safety temperatures, not real chef temperatures. So everything is always overcooked.
