[Q] Samsung Galaxy S3 AT&T SGH-i747 3G not working in India - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
Recently I happen to move to India from USA. I had Samsung Galaxy S3 - SGH i747 purchased in in US, which was under 2 year contract. I tried to call AT&T guys to give me unlock code but they didn't give me since my contract was not over.
I moved to India and tried to unlock my phone from local shop. I am able to make/receive calls now having these issues.
1. 3G is not working . When I see different available bands in my phone using *#2263#, it shows WCDMA 850, 900, 1700, 1900 and WCDMS IMT2000 under WCDMA band preferences. I am using Vodafone in India which runs on UMTS 2100. I visited Vodafone store couple of times but they are not able to help me. How do I get 2100 frequency in my phone ?
2. Currently I have set preference to run my phone on GSM Band so 2G is working. There are certain areas in my city where Vodafone 2G is also not working. In those areas, I don't receive any call even though I have very good network coverage. I tried switching off my mobile network in case I can receive calls but its of no help.
Request for your to resolve this. I am fed up with this nice working phone and need to purchase new one if these issues don't get resolved.
Thanks

[Q] wcdma band

Hi everybody.
I purchased a unlocked gsm optimus t (t-mobile) in USA last week. Well, in my country we have a 850/1900 wcdma band (it seems the same at USA), but, i can´t conect to 3G network.
Searching for the phone specs, i find it the optimus t work in 1700/2100 network, it´s that correct??. If the answer is yes, it is possible to change wcdma frequency in this phone??.
Thanks for you help.
Pd: I read if i install a correct firmware for my country (Chile) is possible to change it.
I don't think so. There are 2 versions of the phone. I've bought mine in Chile, and no matter what ROM I use, I still can connect to the 3G network.
However, I think you should keep your phone and wait for Nextel or VTR networks to become operational, which will work on those bands.
You should see those 3G networks doing a network search on your mobile.

No 3G access on vodafone in India on my ATT SGS2

Hello All,
I am having issues connecting to the 3G network of Vodafone in India. My SGS2 is from AT&T and I was able to root it & unlock it and its works fine with the call and other stuff. I flashed the UnNamed v1.0.4 ROM and its been pretty stable.
But after activating my 3G service here, all I see is E with the 2 arrows. I researched online and saw that we need to change the CSC code. I looked up at the CSC code on my phone by dialing in *#272*<your IMEI># and its shows as ATT.
Can you please help me on how to change the CSC to INU (India Localisation) so that I can access the 3G network here.
Thanks

you probably just need to add your apn. Flash http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1299705 its based on the international version so it might let you select your network.
First, make sure that Vodafone in India works in UMTS 850/1900/2100mhz bands. If they are using 900mhz band, this phone does not support it. As much as I know most European and Asian countries use either 900mhz or 2100mhz or both.
It could be frequency or any other issue but if you are looking to change your CSC then look up app "Samsung Galaxy S / S2 CSC" in the market and give it a try. Remember that your ROM has to support MultiCSC.
EDGE with data functioning is a clear sign of a band mismatch, not an APN issue.

India is 2100mhz while the at&t sgsii is 850/1900 so 3g won't work. The t-mobile sgsii would work though, t-mobile's 3g frequency is 1700/2100.

AT&T GS2 supports 850/1900/2100 3G bands. So, if the paticular carrier uses 900 for 3G, it won't work.
Or if it happens to use the 1700 MHz AWS band - but I don't know if any Indian carriers do.

1700 seems to be North America exclusive Rest of the world primarily use 900 and 2100 for 3G with Brazil and Austrialia also use 850 and 1900 in addition to 900 and 2100.

[Q]SGH-T679 Exhibit II 4G - 3G not work

I bought a 4G SGH-T679 Exhibit II.
all functions are normal but does not work dong.3G enabled just connect to the 2G and the internet is very slow.thought this was blocked by t-mobile as on the galaxy tab. because I live in Vietnam so 4G is not in operation.
We hope to receive help from XDA!
thank!
Sorry if there are mistakes in all viet.boi because my english is not really enough to have the help by google translate
please !,.....................................................
I am using this phone in VN too and I got the same "seem-to-be problem". Per information from T-Mobile Support forum, this may be because of a customization that T-Mobile made to the phone where there is no longer 3G symbol but either EDGE or 4G.

T679
This problem could be related to the band on the phone works usually a TMobile phone works on band 1700 gsm check your at your country provider if use the same.
You probably receiving edge signal which is very slow.
could anyone tell me why the 2100 not work in hong kong?
I think SGH-T679M does NOT support HSDPA 2100 which is used in Asia & Europe for 3G?
Experts please confirm

(Q) International S3 for NYC

Hi guys,
I have an international S3 i9300 unlocked. Ill be moving to NYC for training for 4 months, would this be okay on AT&T network (will use AT&T sim and not my local simcard then roaming)?
im guessing this phone is quad band as well... LTE is not that important for me as i just download files sent to me thru email and im sure there will be WIFI in the office. My concern would generally be mobile signal and if it would be easy for me to get it
search for the frequencies AT&T uses, and compare to the supported frequencies of the i9300
Should be fine up to 3G:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AT&T_Mobility#Radio_frequency_summary
Although, they have 2 freq's for 3G so it depends how they split that....
Because see our bands for 3G:
http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_i9300_galaxy_s_iii-4238.php
We only support 1900 MHz where as AT&T does 850MHz and 1900MHz. You may need advise from an AT&T user as to what that split actually means.
If it's geographical for example, you may be in an 850 area, meaning teh best you every get is EDGE

Having problems getting 3G/4G to work on a LG L70 MetroPCS

Hello,
Last month my dad gave me as a gift a LG L70 bought from the US. I live in Romania and It was locked on MetroPCS, but I went to a local shop here in Romania and managed to unlock it. It works very nice and smooth, with one single problem: I can't manage to get the 3G/4G network to work on it. Everytime I open up the mobile data connection it remain stuck on 2G (showing E). Any ideas how I can get this to work?
The frequencies for the 3G network here in Romania, for my carrier are: 2100 and 900, but 900 is also used for the 2G network. The phone supports 900 Mhz and also the frequency for 4G, but both the 3G and the 4G won't work.
Many thanks!
