[Q] Mute incoming calls? - Samsung Gear Fit

My FIt is coming next week, in the meantime I could not find answer to my questions online.
WHen I receive a phone call and I don't want to answer (not answering with text message, not rejecting the call) is it possible to mute the incoming ring from the Gear Fit.
p.s. from the phone would be pushing Volume Down

No.

Any solutions?
Maybe a tasker task? Unfortunately for me tasker is too difficult to program it myself

I don't think that is solution for this. Only if somebody do app for it.

Technically you could do this with the gear fit quick settings app from the playstore...it allows you to toggle the sound settings on your phone . But it may be cumbersome as you would have to go to app connect then gear fit quick settings. But it is an option

yes, I thought that. The problem are 2: 1 it takes too much time; 2 when a call is coming your Gear Fit is receiving the notification.
But you made me think an alternative. Just mute the phone (always), it should still receive the notifgication in the Gear Fit

Ya, I knew it would be a hassle but it was all I had. Your idea of keeping the phone on silent or just vibrate is a good one though.

Answer Calls by Lift to Ear?

Hi, just a simple question, is it possible to answer calls by automatically lifting the phone towards your ear? (Similar to that of calling someone by placing the phone near your ear in the messaging app)
Sorry if this has already been asked. I am unable to find a similar thread as suggested by the forum
Thanks in advance!
No, you cant. not really a good solution either, Answering your calls in your pocket when walking etc...
Would be a nice feature.

Ive a problem with the swype to answer call on the S3, i find it really annoying and "slow". Is there any other way to answer calls actually? Like pressing the homebutton maybe?

You could try to use Tasker. I've seen people mimic smart call with it so might be able to use similar thing but for answering an incoming call?

Ah, great. Thank you. Not easy to find actually.
Proximity Talk does exactly that. put the phone to your ear and it answers the call. It can also turn on speaker automatically when you move it away from your year, take out speaker automatically when you put the phone back to your year, and also hang up calls just by putting the phone face down... try it by downloading it in the play store
thanks for the responses, I'll make sure to try them out later. Cheers!

Auto call transfer??

This could be a silly question, but I've never really seen a clear answer on this. Can anyone confirm how the Gear S actually transfers a call? For example, if you're wearing your gear and have your phone on you. If a call comes in, your phone rings and you can answer. Now, let's say you run into a store and leave your phone in the car...before, with the Gear 2 it would say "Bluetooth disconnected" and you're done.
At that "Bluetooth disconnected" point with the Gear 2, is that where the Gear S automatically "connects" itself to the network? In other words seamless connection?
Is this right? (below)
In Bluetooth range: Person calls > Samsung cell phone rings > answer on phone or watch > no answer > goes to VM.
Out of Bluetooth range: Samsung phone sensed your Gear S is out of range > person calls > watch rings > no answer > goes to VM
Thoughts?

+1 I know you can forward you calls to watch but I would like to know how this scenario plays out as well

Honestly, I don't think we're going to find out until people get their hands on this thing. (On launch day)

Yes you are right
maybe you can set up a task with Tasker that tells it every time bluetooth disconnects from that device, forward calls to a specified number.

Guys, I picked mine up today from an ATT corp store. Just walked in and said I'd like to buy a Gear S. Anyhow, I think I have this figured out. When someone calls your phone when the gear is out of range, it rings first on the phone then gets sent to the Gear. Then apparently people leave a message on that other number, that's the part I don't get yet. BUT I did send my buddy a text message while outside of range and he said it came in as my main number.
I hope this does not mess up with my google voice voice mail set up

Ugh at that other number. I have google voice also seems I will have yet another number
If the call forwarding happens though the Cell network then google voice should be ok. I just dont want to have to stop using google voice for my voice mails.
There are a few options, rings on phone then forward to watch then voicemail. Auto forward is whenever the watch is not connected via Bluetooth then forward is enabled. Also always forward option.
Where is the option for auto call forwarding when Bluetooth disconnects? I can only see the remote forwarding on the gear on the screen with volume and brightness.
I don't own one as yet (comes in 2 days) lets say.... you do drop bluetooth because your out of range. if your handset is set to forward calls to the gear s number when the call is not answered within a specific time normal call forwarding would do the job. However, call forwarding without the right tariffs could cost you unless unlimited minutes is your tariff. Mine is, so no problems there.

SMS Notification

I am very happy with my Gear S so far, only one ting is bothering me:
I don't receive any SMS Notifications on my Gear S (when paired by bluetooth to my phone), as a matter of fact I am not able to check the stock program "Messages" in the Notifications of Gear Manager, it just isn't there. Anyone has similar problems or a solution? Thank you!
Every time I thought something was not working right on my Gear S, it turned out to be user error
I almost brought mine back to T-Mobile because of that!
I assume you are in the US and have separate SIM cards for watch and Samsung phone? For that matter, I assume you have a compatible Samsung phone connected to Gear S?
If yes, here is how I set up my settings:
In Gear app on phone:
Notifications - manage notifications - make sure messages are enabled (along with all other apps you want to see notifications for, but I suggest to limit those, don't pick everything, the watch starts buzzing all the time then and it tends to drain the battery)
Limit notifications - don't check
List view - I have that checked
Settings - use remote connection checked
On Gear S:
Settings - mobile networks - use mobile networks: set to always on
If you use auto on/off, you will not receive any SMS sent to watch # while connected to phone via BT
Settings - notifications : check both list view and notifications
Settings - Messages - outgoing number: mobile device
Make sure you don't have "do not disturb" enabled under settings. I use that feature every night when the Gear charges and I sleep...it charges on my nightstand and drove me nuts the first night buzzing every time I received any type of notification...
Hope this helps!

Yes. Everything was working this morning, but I received a text on my mobile and several emails, but they haven't appeared on the watch. And like you I can no longer see the stock sms app or email app in the list of notifications in Gear Manager!
This is very frustrating .

Update: I completely uninstalled then reinstalled Gear Manager - (which resulted in the Gear being factory reset too). This solved the problem but it did mean reinstalling and setting up all my apps from scratch which took forever.
It seems I was doing some clearing out of unused apps using a memory cleaning app that was a bit too thorough. I deleted one of the Gear Manager's components .

Ringtone cuts off for incoming calls

Ringtones get cut off and sometimes play choppy for incoming calls on my gear s. Has anyone experienced this problem?
Yes I have experienced this as well, it's annoying and I dont know what's causing it
What I did was set the phone to go to voicemail in five rings and the watch to go to voicemail in ten rings.

How did you do this? I have T-mobile. I tried to change how long my phone rings before going to VM but now the phone and the watch don't ring long enough.
