Answer Calls by Lift to Ear? - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, just a simple question, is it possible to answer calls by automatically lifting the phone towards your ear? (Similar to that of calling someone by placing the phone near your ear in the messaging app)
Sorry if this has already been asked. I am unable to find a similar thread as suggested by the forum
Thanks in advance!

No, you cant. not really a good solution either, Answering your calls in your pocket when walking etc...

Would be a nice feature.

Ive a problem with the swype to answer call on the S3, i find it really annoying and "slow". Is there any other way to answer calls actually? Like pressing the homebutton maybe?

You could try to use Tasker. I've seen people mimic smart call with it so might be able to use similar thing but for answering an incoming call?

Ah, great. Thank you. Not easy to find actually.

Proximity Talk does exactly that. put the phone to your ear and it answers the call. It can also turn on speaker automatically when you move it away from your year, take out speaker automatically when you put the phone back to your year, and also hang up calls just by putting the phone face down... try it by downloading it in the play store

thanks for the responses, I'll make sure to try them out later. Cheers!

[Q] Any way to improve voice dialing?

I can't seem to be able to get voice dialing to work with any consistency. Is this a known issue? And it's not because of an accent, either..
I'd like to be able to place calls through my Bluetooth speakerphone, but 9 out of 10 times, it calls the wrong number, and I have to scramble to hang up. I've pretty much given up on it, but wanted to check to see if I've missed something.
Thanks.

I use Vlingo
It's incredibly accurate and great for "In the car" tasks. Make sure to select car mode in the app and you can call/text/music/nav hands free.
I don't have enough posts to list the market link, so just search it.
Thanks very much for the suggestion. I've installed it and will test out today.

Phone key sounds during calls

Hi,
Is there an option to cancel the keys sound (while pressing) during calls?
For example when i put the phone on speaker or even in normal use, when i press the keys in order to write a number or send text, the other side in my conversation hears the sound too. Therefore can barely hear me.
They still get sound even on vibrate/silent mode.
Anyone have this problem too?
please help!

You can disable 'keytones' in settings> sound.

I only want it disabled during call, not on normal use...
will it work?

[Q] Vibrate when call answered?

I've had this feature on various phones and roms, but can't seem to find anything for the S3. Anyway to enable this?
I was using CallVibrate but that no longer works. In fact it seems the SGS3 isn't supported any more.
Or perhaps there's a way to get Tasker to accomplish this? That'd be better than using another app.
Any ideas?
Hmmmm never heard of this problem as my GS3 always vibrates when answered. Im on Stock Leaked JB LI7 Firmware Rooted and not having a problem with it at all mate.

Ahhh... once I read that you didn't have that problem, I went deep, deep into the settings, and although I thought I looked everywhere, I didn't hit the call settings menu under the stock dialer. There's an option for setting call alerts and I saw it there.
Thanks for the feedback. I can rest in peace now I've been on every single leaked JB release and I've never had it work!
Glad you got it all sorted now mate

Sony sbh52 voice dialing with xperia z ultra?

This is a great little handset but limited by no dial function it is pretty well limited!
I mean answering calls is great but to make a call you have to get the ultra out and dial and then swap to the handset.
Is there any way to voice dial or are we hoping for an update from Sony?

I discover yesterday that you can dial. You can access to calls register and press the button to call directly. use buttons .

Currently there is no way to access your address book. Probably wont be either as imagine the time it would take to scroll through your contacts. I have over 500, so thats just not an option.
To access a dialer, and move between numbers is probably the only real choice, but that would still take a long time.
I can't see any of these being implemented by Sony.
My 2 cents
I bought mine yesterday, and yes , the fact that you can only access he call log but not contacts is annoying. But can't someone write a small app for it to bring up the contacts just like my car does? i mean i can enter contacts and then i have to select the first letter. this could be fairly ok-ish, right?
Is there a way to use it to wake google now and get google now to dial the number we want?
Fwiw I sold the phone and bought a note 3
Lovely bit of kit but too compromised as a phone for me

[Q] Mute incoming calls?

My FIt is coming next week, in the meantime I could not find answer to my questions online.
WHen I receive a phone call and I don't want to answer (not answering with text message, not rejecting the call) is it possible to mute the incoming ring from the Gear Fit.
p.s. from the phone would be pushing Volume Down
No.

Any solutions?
Maybe a tasker task? Unfortunately for me tasker is too difficult to program it myself

I don't think that is solution for this. Only if somebody do app for it.
Technically you could do this with the gear fit quick settings app from the playstore...it allows you to toggle the sound settings on your phone . But it may be cumbersome as you would have to go to app connect then gear fit quick settings. But it is an option

yes, I thought that. The problem are 2: 1 it takes too much time; 2 when a call is coming your Gear Fit is receiving the notification.
But you made me think an alternative. Just mute the phone (always), it should still receive the notifgication in the Gear Fit
Ya, I knew it would be a hassle but it was all I had. Your idea of keeping the phone on silent or just vibrate is a good one though.
