Going through root explorer I noticed I have sd card and sd card-ext. The internal hard drive is the sd card so when I tell the phone to store to sd it saves it on the phone and not the memory card, for example pictures. Can we correct this some how? Also, same with programs, move to media is still the internal hard drive. Do we have a list of apps safe to use app2d to force
to card?
These phones do not have a "hard drive". A custom ROM might be able to change that, but then what would you use that internal storage for? I have my pics setup to go to sd-ext currently.

I have searched and I have not been able to find my answer. I have looked in the settings and I have changed the settings.
But it doesn't matter how I set it up it always install the files onto the internal memory .
I have a Micro SD card that I would like to install most of the programs
Is there a way to install the programs onto the external Micro SD card or a move them there after you download them ?
I remember reading a thread or two about moving apps to the SD card ... have you tried searching on "move apps to SD card"?
Heh! The grass is always greener on the other side isn't it?
The easiest solution to your problem would be for you to install CyanogenMod. It likes to install everything on the external SD card--so much so that people resort to hacking /system/etc/vold.fstab to get it to use the internal SD card instead.
You might care to look at that file on your ROM (I'm assuming its VEGAn-5.1.1 or one of the other Froyo-based ROMs). The vold program uses that file to determine where disks should be mounted. You can switch only the device paths in that file to get vold to mount it the way you want it--external SD card as /sdcard and the internal SD card as /sdcard2.
If you just want to manually move files from place to place, use Root Explorer.
Device: Moto E 2015
Android: 5.0.2
Coming from android 4.0 I could manage files on my external SD card using Windows Explorer, AirDroid, or any 3rd party file manager.
Now that I'm using 5.0.2 I cannot manage files on the external SD card using any of those methods. The SD card has over 14 gigs free. The card is formatted and works as Google pushed over my photos and music from the internal SD card fine.
Another problem is I can't move any apps to the SD card. With android 4.0 I could push an app like iBird Pro to the external SD card. Now when I try to push that app to the external SD card it claims there is not enough space. Android storage shows there is over 14 gb free and iBird Pro is under 1 gb.
It would appear that 5.0.2 is a total wreck when trying to make use of the external sd card. *sigh* I hear rumors that M may fix this... if the Moto E 2015 happens to get that update.
You can transfer media to your SD, transfer some apps to SD (if they allow it) But SD write permissions have been a PIA since 4.4.X, so hopefully M does sort it all out.
Sent from my XT1095
So basically useless right now. I manage my own media content in a structure I like. Sad. Hopefully M will fix this mess.
Still trying to write to the external sd card. Latest developments.
Moto E 2015
Android 5.0.2
Windows 8.1
Trying to transfer files or create folders on the external SD card in my Moto E 2nd Gen. causes the following error:
"The device has either stopped responding or has been disconnected."
What I can do:
Delete folders
Read
Copy from sd card to Windows
What throws the error:
Creating a folder
Copying files to the sd card
On the device itself I cannot get any file manager to write to the external sd card. Apps that try to setup write permissions to the sd card fail. Android itself was able to move photos and music to the sd card when I inserted it into the phone. If I try to move any app to the SD card it says there is not enough space. It has 14gb free.
I finally tried using another computer. The other system is Windows 7 and I was able to created folders and copy files to the external sd card in the phone.
Back to my main system (Windows 8.1) I used USBDeview and cleared ALL usb drivers. Reconnected keyboard and mouse. Then plugged in the phone... same behavior. I have also tried installing Motorola's driver suite and have the same result. I have tried various USB ports on my motherboard both USB 2 and 3.
I'm at loss of what to try next, besides a blunt object to both devices repeatedly.
And I may have just fixed the problem of moving apps to the external SD card.
I erased the card while it was still in the phone. I did this the first time I put it in. I choose NOT to have Android copy over music and photos. Now I can move apps over to the SD card.
However, when trying to create a folder on the SD card from Windows Explorer it just hangs: SD card (Not Responding). It does show "New Folder" after terminating file explorer and looking at the SD card again. And now.... I can rename the folder, create folders, and copy files to the SD card... wtf.
Perhaps the SD card is bad, it is incredibility inconsistent.

I have a 2nd Gen Moto G with Android 5.0.2 and I'm trying to move apps to the SD card as well. I'm a bit confused as to what steps you followed. Are you saying that BECAUSE you erased the SD card and chose not to have Android copy music and photos that you can now move apps to the card? Or are you saying that since reversing your decision and allowing Android to copy over music and photos (and possibly reformatting your erased card?) that you can now move apps to the card? And can you transfer any apps or only certain apps? Are you doing this on your phone or on your computer?
I can transfer certain apps to my SD card on the phone. And using the computer and Windows Explorer I can create a new folder on the SD card. I'm just not sure what steps to take next to transfer the apps to the card, or what impact there might be on data or functionality.
HI to all...
I ve made a lot of search but no luck! The phonepad saves and moves all apps to a path /storage/emulated/legacy and i discover it with Link2SD and my sd card is empty.
When i use the app manager to move the apps into sd card it seems that they are already in sd...It created an sd on internal storage and use it like an external sd card...How can i fix it?I m getting mad with it!!!
Hi Forum,
I have the Xenon-Android installed and never got that sdcard problem solved.
I have that internal and external one (sdcard0 / sdcard1) and can't manage to get data to the external sd in Google Play as in Maps and so on.
Isn't it possible to just have internal memory and sdcard being the sdcard like on other phones.
Can I change some mounting or whatever and resize internal partition somehow.
I would install some other OS, is the backup / test phone anyway, nothing essential.
