Share location from Google Maps to other navigation - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I wonder if there is any app that will add a new item to share menu giving a possibility to send coordinates from GMaps to other apps.
What I would welcome is to find a place with google maps and send the ccordinates of the point to other Navigation app like Mapfactor or be-on-road. There is something like that in OSMAnd - for a choosen point I have a share the location menu. So the location can be shared with Email. SMA, Clipboard and geo:
When I point to geo: I can then choose my prefared navigation app.
Basically I am looking for similar functionality on Google Maps.
If any hint - please.
Regards,
Marcin

Displaying info on Google Maps

Hello Everyone,
I'm building my first android app with Google Maps and have a running app where I can add markers to the map etc.
I can't figure out how to load markers from a database and show information in a popup.
I'm targeting apps like Gasbuddy, where prices are shown realtime.
Can someone help me in the right direction?
Thanks alot

[Q] Google maps navigation, GPS not updating map position

Hi,
When using Google maps, if I set a destination and navigate to it, the ma just sits there and doesn't move when I drive off, nor does my location on it.
However if I stay on Google maps, and drive about my position is updated correctly but obviously I can't navigate that way.
I tried mapquest and that works with no problem as an alternative, but what the he'll it's wrong with maps?
Any ideas, I've already cleared Google maps in the apps section?
Sorry to reply without adding to the issue, but as I had not come across other's with this issue I want to confirm that Maps on my Galaxy S2 with Android 4.1.2 also does not update my position once I start navigating to my destination. But it does find my location before my destination is set.
EDIT: can anyone suggest a good place to put this query so that a Google employee takes note of it?
Edit 2: I reported the bug from within the Google Maps application. Hope there is some result.

[How To] GPS solution for galaxy star ......

One of the biggest disappointment in Galaxy Star is lack of GPS. Techno geeks (apparently google also) claims that apps like Google Maps can find your location by what is known as 'Cell Tower Triangulation'. But it doesn't seem to be the case.
So here is how the trick works. It tracks your location co-ordinates from your IP Address.
1. Download any app that can tell your location co-ordinates. The two apps I was able to find out are Location Tracker(Needs google play settings enabled) and IP Tools. [only one is required at a time]
2.Location Tracker- select Current Location and then Share my location. It shares a link. Save it somewhere like Colornote and paste in search bar of Google Maps, Maps.me app. (These two accept the links. You may try others.)
IP Tools- As you open the app(net required, off course) it will show your location co-ordinates. Tap there to copy them. Now edit them to get in the desired format (Ex:- 30.77777777,70.88888888) and paste it the search bar of your maps app (works with Google Maps and Maps.me).
Here you go. GPS in galaxy star.
Observations
Location Tracker
-"Turn on services on home page" error in Location Tracker even though it is on.
-Press back to eliminate ads.
-If you have location history on in Google Play Settings, it may show the last saved location of your device.
-Break functioning. Re-install from play store.
IP Tools
-Sends you far from where you are. Disconnect and reconnect the internet for better location.

Need Help with GPS location based apps

Hello everybody,
Been looking for a while for a GPS based location and directions app that has the following functionality
1. Pinpoint any location on a map and save the location by giving it a unique ID (alphanumeric)
2. Share this ID with your friends using the same app by sending this ID via the app or email or sms.
3. Users use this ID for location and/or directions instead of typing the entire address or GPS coordinates.
4. App can use google maps or Nokia maps or other maps.
Please suggest some apps with similar functionality.
Much appreciated.

Stock Calendar Map issue

In EMUI 9, stock Calendar app added "Map" button when creating a new appointment, to find the location.
However in order to work properly you need to press that button and find the location by scrolling and moving the map to the correct place. There is no search option to search for the location you want.
In addition, if you simply type the location you want and save the appointment, the "Show on Map" button in the event opens another app (amap) which does not work in Europe, so you cannot navigate there.
Does anyone have the same issue? Any solution to this, apart from using another app?
I have tested right now:
- I can create a new task without entering the location
- if I write the place name manually, I can't open it in the map, nothing is happening after pressing the location button
- if I select the place on the map, I can open it later in Firefox and Google Maps
IMO, stock Calendar app works good.
A pain in the ass work around is manually typing address in, then when you want to view it on map, click and long hold the address and it will open Google maps and search the address.
It sucks that it won't do it by default, but the weather information on the calendar/schedule needs the location set properly to pull weather data
But the Europe address seems to work for me

Thank you very much for your reply. Indeed your suggestion works, with one small tradeoff, the address should be put in English. If I put the address in Greek (my native language) it will not work. But for sure is better than nothing. Thank you very much

Correct, this is how it works, I would prefer though to have a search option on the map, instead of selecting it. But we will have to wait for Huawei to improve stock Calendar app for it. Thank you
