Is there a way to get it working. I dont need it all the time but there are those few occasions where it pisses me off when my gsm buddies are on the phone with me and i tell them im gunna look something up real quick and realize i cant while i am on the call. There are a few times when it would have really came in handy

SPARK devices give up this functionality... Not until Sprint rolls out VOLTE will we have voice/data simultaneously.

Will the EVO 3D work if not activated from sprint, I'VE heard it will but I am curious to this fact, also if I can get passed the setup because I live in Canada.

I used mine for almost a day (used wifi only) before I caved in and activated it online. There are quite a few who are doing as you said ..work the phone without activation. As for being in Canada .. can't help you on that problem.

work as is, make phone calls? or work as in turn on and use all the features but the phone?
first answer is no, except for emergency calls. second answer is yes

I like your picture of a cat with a helmet.
See because I hate cats (sorry I have my reasons) and to me, a cat with a helmet means I can kick it out of my way and not really 'harm' it because it has protection on it.
Im JK but I do hate cats still.

I don't want to use the phone, I just want to use the features since the nexus s is my main phone to make calls and I plan to tether my nexus to my HTC EVO 3D so I can access all of the internet features.

On setup, just hit back when you get to the first back button...if that does not work...starting in a clockwise fashion...touch the corners of the screen with the top left first then hit the android..this also bypasses the setup feature. It's been a while since I did this..so you might verify doing a google search.
Yes you'll be able to use apps and all that without activating it. Obviously you won't be able to make phone calls. Most android phones don't need activation to get into the OS.
After using revolutionary i noticed when roaming I have data but when I make a call it says my number is invalid us there a sux for this

Are you getting an error 16?
Sent from my PG86100 using XDA App
Just make any call, and let it connect to sprint, they will activate your radio and ask a couple ?'s to verrify info, then you shall be good. This happens to a lot of people even to my wife and I.
I can make calls as long as I'm not in roaming

Just a shot in the dark, but have you checked your roaming settings?
I am having same issue, Verizon intercepts the call and tells me I can not be verified.

I was at your house? lol
I do go in like 4 diff houses daily, satellite installation tech
I am in a chat with them now, I called and they told me take it to sprint, WTF
I was having this problem to. Calls on Sprint network were fine, but no incoming or outgoing while roaming. I had my wife's phone and it was also roaming, but working fine. I called Sprint and they had me do a battery pull then a profile and prl update. I don't know if they did anything on their side, but it is working again.
same thing happening to me. ill try batt pull and update and when roaming again test it and check back in.
Same thing happened to me, in addition to getting a error code 64 class 2 (Radio Interference Resource Shortage) when I tried to send a text message.
I called Sprint and the rep had me pull my battery while she did some reset. It didn't work. She then transferred me to tech support that remotely reset my phones data. That fixed my problem.

This is all coming when Sprint releases their LTE network.

holy facking hell! but when everyone starts jumping on LTE the speeds wont likely be like that no more. i'm quite happy with my wimax right now i get 13-17mbps
True but they'll still be faster than now. There's a tower right next to where I live so I'm always getting those speeds as well

Im about to cry... D: im amazed.. Sprints done it again!! They like take a massive leap, let the rest of the carriers take a small step ahead.... Take another massive leap.. Let the other carriers catch up... And just keep pullin more crap outa there butts to flaunt in the other carriers faces! Like they were the first to offer 4g a year ahead of everyone else.. And KEEP there unlimited plan then they do this! O: the only place they lack in is a wide range of phones but theyre even catching up in that department! Nd who cares they gor the mopho!!

How do we know these videos are legit?
Sent from my MB855 using xda premium
Most of us will probably never see this ever and for two reasons.
1. It's Sprint and they are absolutely full of crap. Promised people around the country 4g nearly 2 years ago and still nothing.
2. See #1
Thats just crazy...how long would ur battery last..lol
And its prob a beta tester with no load on the network

Its not legit until they show a picture of either the test device or hotspot. They could have just renamed it to sprintetc. If that video is real so are Pamela Andersons tits 0_o

Actually better signal would = better battery life on cdma networks.
Yea I can guarantee that the speeds will be much lower with more than a few people connected to the network. I'm just impressed that Sprint is capable of this is all.

Check out the company called light squared and search it with sprint in the same search. Sprint is paying out the ass to make it work. I'm a recruiter and I work with the company they have recently had some break through and even some test. If it works out. Sprint will be able to use the tech to transfer their LTE anywhere you can receive a GPS signal.

I have a question about the data...I can't really afford to get a data plan for 2 years even though I am available for an upgrade at this moment. I will talk to my mom about it too, but the main question is ; say I bought a used Amaze 4g, will it still function right without the 3g/4g? I heard somewhere some phones wont even boot without data or something like that...if thats false dont laugh at me :| but yeah, could someone please answer this question for me? My HTC HD2 is starting to get on the bad side now :\ Thank you.
it will work fine without data, heck you will get amazing battery life as 3g/4g uses alot more power. You wont recieve weather updates and some widgets wont function properly, but as a phone and a media device it will work flawlessly! enjoy your amaze

A second thought, which is what I'm about to do. Leave the contract and go for the $30 a month monthly4g plan. 5gbs of 4G, unlimited text and 100 minutes. If you run out of minutes use a voip app like Google voice and grooveip.

Buying a used phone is no problem. T-Mobile won't sell you a new phone without a data plan.

OK a friend of mine on a Epic (old one) told me that he got a sprint communications update, or something along the lines of that. Now, he says he can talk on the phone and browse the Internet at the same time. Anybody else got this update?
He said that the guy from radio Shack said it isn't just his device, but other phones on sprint too.
Also, strange thing. He also says that he is picking up 4G signal where we live which is North Cape coral in Florida, and we never had 4G here. Maybe sprint is still rolling out wimax in a few cities.
Sent from my MB855 using XDA
As far as I know the only way to talk and surf is to be connected with 4g or WiFi during the call.

Sent from my MB855 using XDA
I use it all the time on my phone for business ...put them in speaker and look something up while I'm parked somewhere far from my computer. I've also edited documents while talking. I don't use it every day, but it's become a must-have for me.

I consider my phone to be a miniature computer first, a phone second. I'd love to be able to surf the web or read a feed while taking a call.
