NC5 Modem compatible with NH7 build? - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note 3

Im rooted, on NH7. I noticed a severe degredation in signal quality with the NH7 modem compared to NC5. For me, it doesnt even find/hold onto an LTE connection as good. Can I flash the NC5 modem?

Yes, I went back with no issues. Freeza has the NC5 posted up on this forum

[Q] Succesful downgrade from mk2 to mj7!!!

My Samsung galaxy S4 i545 verizon was rooted on mj7. I Odin back to factory with the mj7 odin file.then took the mk2 O.T.A. update.. Then I downgraded back to mj7 using odin.. I've been searching forums all day on this few people already know about this, why isnt this big news? Is this a possibility to get a custom recovery on mj7 or mk2?

No, it's not big news. MK2 isn't a major update and doesn't change the kernel or the bootchain, so it's possible to downgrade to MJ7 from MK2. No, no possiblity of a custom recovery. Santa's not that generous, unfortunately.

Should I update to NG6?

Hello all
What are the advantages and disadvantages of flashing a NG6 rom?

There aren't any NG6 ROMs. You can flash an NC5 ROM and then flash the NG6 Modem, which is what is recommended. The only graded part of NG6 was the modem.
Do not update to NG6!
Stay away from NG6 unless you're looking to Factory Reset your phone and inevitably Odin back to NC5. There are a number of problems with this update but one main issue is random reboots that occur as much as 4-6 times on the hour. The Verizon Wireless Community forums has an ongoing list of members with the issue and zero support from VZ technical staff. (Title: Verizon NG6 Update: Multiple random reboots?) The forum has over 27k views and climbing.

The Modem is quirky as well. Too many hand offs on my short commute to work.
Went back to NC5 Developer radio and all is well again.

I would definitely would recommend you to stay on nc5 or whatever build your on. ng6 doesn't give you any benefits but instead brings a ton of costs .
Marginal benefit<Marginal cost. Shout out to my econ folks here.

Now that the random re-boot issues have been resolved ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4/general/fix-reboot-crash-problem-ng6-root-t2921584) I'm hearing people are liking NG6.
If you are a safestrap user you can find a flashable version of NG6 as well as a script that will remove the knox files causing the random-reboots here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4-verizon/general/how-to-root-i545vrufng6-t2905848

[Q] Custom Recovery wont Load

I have an SCH-i545 and It was recently on NK1, I downgraded to NC5 and used towelroot. Did a factory wipe from the recovery, but now I cant get either TWRP or CWM to load? It only uses the stock samsung/verizon recovery, and this is not letting me flash any custom rom. Did I miss a step somewhere? I've got SuperSU installed aswell.

Any firmware THAT IS NOT MDK doesn't have a bootloader unlock. TWRP, CWM, Phillz will not work. Only Safestrap does.

No it is not. Verizon implemented a downgrade block. You can't go back to MDK, there is no way..
Right on, good to know! Appreciate your knowledge!!

You can flash stock based Roms with safestrap still. You just can't flash a non stock kernel. Which means stock Roms only.
I ended up going with the cleaned stock nk1 and I'm digging it, once I get on my pc and can search better I'll go with eclipse perhaps. The Wi-Fi won't turn on though, gonna head over to that post and figure it out. =) thanks again

I believe there is a WiFi module to flash. Eclipse has it built in. WiFi working perfect here.

That's not entirely true. See here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4-verizon/development/rom-kitpop-v1-0-t3019132
AOSP Safestrap-compatible ROMS are starting to pop up. I'm not sure how they work/how well they work, but there it is.

Good to know. I have moved on a while ago and my wife has the s4. So I am a little outdated for this device it seems

Verizon N900VVRUDNK1 : Do not flash other modems or you will lose data connection.

Hey you all
Today I tried flashing different modems to my Verizon N900VVRUDNK1 via Odin that I have found here on XDA and Andriod forums in order to get better signal since I only get 3 bars. Well, after flashing the first modem my phone lost connectivity , no signal, no network connection and it keeps rebooting . So thanks to Hsbadr here on XDA he had our NK1 modem , I reflash the nk1 modem and now I'm back in business. It seems that once on nk1 modem you cannot downgrade .
Thanks for sharing this information. I could have sworn I saw other people in the forums talking about flashing other modems. Curious if anyone else has this same issue. I myself have not flashed any modems since the LP update.
Running 4.4.2, and no trouble flashing between NC3, NK1 and the Lollipop modem.

Where are you seeing the OB6 modem tar? I found them up to NK1 but not the Lollipop modem.
*EDIT* Found it in the Jasmine thread, Post #9684

*EDIT 2*
Flashed OB6 and it seems to perform poorly. Flashed to MJE and it seems to be better than NK1 or OB6. YMMV

I am not impressed with the Note3 radio performance at all. I drop calls and data where several other phones can hang on.
With good signal, then it is fine. When you get to low signal areas, then it underperforms.
Once you are on Stock unrooted firmware 4.4.4 you will not be able to change basebands./modems. I have read here on XDA that you can only downgrade firmware from lollipop 5.0 back to NK1 firmware . Signal reception is still the same though.

You're going to have to completely wipe the phone and reload from a stock image via Odin.

Where did you get the idea you can flash any old firmwares and expect them to work with other software components? You're lucky you haven't bricked your phone. If a non-working modem is your biggest problem, you're lucky. The state of your phone is unreliable. Do as the previous poster says and start from scratch. You probably have lost root ability I'm afraid.
