[Q] Problem installing ViperX+ - HTC One X+

Hi all!
I want to flash ViperX+ ROM but I'm coming from Cyano and I can't do it!
I've tried to flash it from Viper recovery but it tell me this error:
"Updating partition details...
E:Unable to mount '/sd-ext'
Running boot script...
Finished running boot script.
E:Unable to open zip file.
Error flashing zip '/sdcard/ViperX+_2.1.1.zip
Updating partition details..."
Failed
I've tried to install the kernel that is in ViperX+ post but I don't know how to flash it...
Can someone help me?!
Thanks a lot!!!!

There is a bug in 2.1.1 zip file,
You better install 2.1.0 or lower and ota to 2.1.1

I've tried also with 2.1.0 but the result is the same..

you need to use an older CWM recovery, or change to the Venom/Viper TWRP

With TWRP tells me "unable to open zip file" and with ViperTWRP the same as before

Are you sure that you've a proper download of viper?
verify the MD5 hash of your download.

Try flash boot.img n recovery 2.2.1 via venom flasher .
Full wipe.
I solved with install rom using sideload - viperX+_2.0.1 [full rom download]. Try to not pause u downloading, it will be corrupt you zip
Reboot system, may take around 10 minute
Then on your phone check debug n power / fastboot unthick.
download elitekernel [new] or speedy kernel
Flash kernel via fastboot
Reboot phone and update via OTA

try to redownload the Viper 2.1.0 and flash these or check your md5. There are some bugs with the full ROM of Viper 2.1.1

[Q] Rom Manager CWM Recovery problem

Hey guys, I rooted my device with the CF-KG2 kernal and am trying to use Rom Manager with Clockwork Mod 4.0.1.5. to install Cyanogen mod.
I can't get into CWM recovery for anything after installing without getting:
Finding update package ...
Opening update package ...
Verifiyng update package ...
E: failed to verify whole-file signature
E: signature verification failed
Installation aborted
I can't find a solution to this on google or anywhere on this forum.
I also tried manually wiping my data/cache and installing the cyanogen nightly 26 with the CWM 4.0 included with CF kernal. It installs fine but won't boot past the samsung logo, so I had to restore.
Any help is appreciated!
Do a fresh download of a cm7 nightly.
Put it into your internal sd card.
Boot into cwm recovery
Wipe data/cache/dalvik
Flash cm7 zip
If you get stuck at the screen flash the zip again from recovery and it should boot.
Also, don't flash it via flash update, do it via flash zip.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA Premium App
Thanks a ton. Believe it or not just installing the zip twice actually installed cyanogen perfectly. Amazing.

It's weird, seems to be due to custom versions of cwm recovery in most kernels, the other way todo it is to flash codeworx's cwm kernel then cm7, which seems to make it work with one flash of cm, but glad to hear you got it going.

I also have the same problem, errors when trying to boot CWM recovery. Did not allow me to back up anything. and now my phone is stuck on the Galaxy S 2 boot screen and keeps on looping. I think I was using lightning ROM previously. What is the next thing I should do to make the phone work again.
Once the phone works, how do I get CM7 on it? Thanks so much. I am a new user and am not really familiar with the process.

Pull the battery and boot to cwm again. Wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache and flash cm7 (provided u put it on ur sd card).
If not, flash a stock rom, let boot and place latest cm7 .zip on ur ad card. Flash a kernel with cwm and flash cm7 .
I also have this problem. Also I can't back up my current rom, because it gives the same message as in First post. And I want to flash MIUI -rom. What to do?
Any solutions to this? I rooted using Zedomax's Method. all went smoothly. When I went into Rom Manager to backup, it said I had to flash CWM, I said ok. Now I get the same error as the OG. Don't know if the recovery worked prior to going into ROM Manager. I'm thinking of running the Zedomax's Method again to see if it reinstalls a workable CWM.

[Q] Apparently can root, apply CWM, flash rom, but doesn't

Hello Everybody,
my boss got me a Galaxy ACE S5830i in order to test some app development and I immediately managed to root it and install a custom ROM.
These were the steps I took
1- I flashed the update.zip I found around the web, for example here -> http://www.theandroidroot.com/root-install-cwm-recovery-samsung-galaxy-ace-s5830i/
2- I flashed CWM 5.0 and immediately, without rebooting, saw the new Recovery. So it really did install!
3- I updated to CWM 6
4- I flashed thunder kernel in order to make the CWM permanent -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2335947
5- I rebooted the phone in recovery mode and got the CWM. Everything was fine up to now
6- I flashed a ROM (after wiping everything). Actually, several roms. I tried first with CGM, then with Aroma and Retribution Beta. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1806471 All of them managed to install but none of them works. What ALWAYS happens is that the ROM installs, then I reboot and the phone does not go past the Samsung Logo. Then, and here we come to the weirdest part, when I reboot in recovery mode in order to flash another rom... I get the stock recovery! No CWM, no customizations!
What's happening, in your opinion? I tried to flash a custom ROM with Odin as well, but being on Linux I had to use JOdin and could not manage to flash anything because (as it ALWAYS happens with JOdin) I was not able to load a suitable PIT file. No success with wine+odin as well.
Please, could somebody help me? I can't use my boss phone, and can't return it to him until I get a working ROM on it
Thank you in advance
P.S. When I get to the Recovery I see some rows to the bottom:
-- Appling Multi-CSC --
E:failed to mount /system (Invalid argument)
E:failed to mount /system (Indalid argument)
and (I know 'cause I tried) I can't mount or format the /system partition. Maybe it's related, maybe it's not...

Hello,
thank you for answering.
I can temporary get to CWM recovery for sure, but I don't know how to push the erase_image file (that I found) to the device. I'm only able to copy files on the SD, using another phone, and then flash them from CWM. Is there a way to make adb able to detect the device even when it's in recovery?
Thank you

Are the ROMs you tried based on CM7/9? Because if they are, you need to format your system partitions to EXT4. You can do that with the multi-formatter.
Also, you say that you have your stock recovery back. Check the ROM zips that you flashed for any boot.img. If there is, check which kernel and which version. Some older kernels still have stock recovery.
As even stock recovery cannot mount /system, clearly your system partitions are corrupt. Format with the multi-formatter and flash a CM7/9 based ROM or flash back stock firmware via Odin.
If you choose the multi-formatter, remember to flash a kernel afterwards. And if you prefer, one with a permanent CWM.

[Q] [Xperia U] Device bricked

Hi, I was trying to Install XperiaSTE Build 9 Android 4.4.3 CM11 Nightlies in my device. Before I start, I took a CWM Backup from ICS 4.0.4. After the rom zip downloaded, I extracted the boot.img from the zip, Then copied the rom zip to a folder inside my sdcard/internal. After I fastbooted the boot.img and unpluged the device, I just ran the CWM in device. It was not working cause my zip is probably broken. error is:
E:Can't open /storage/sdcard0/Downloads/cm-11-20140608-UNOFFICIAL.zip (bad)
Installation aborted.
I tried to restore my backup, But on restoring system it just says:
Error while restoring /system!
I've tried fastbooting ICS Default kernel for XU, but it just get's stuck in Sony boot loader logo.
I've also tried CWM adb sideload, It just errors: Device not found. Is there any way I can push a re-downloaded zip to my device? I have 80mb free space, If there's also any way I can delete the old broken ROM It would be awesome
Please help
Thanks!

I'd go for a ftf file with a stock ICS again and flash it through flashtool (flash mode).
You know, just to get the device running properly and then push your custom rom again.
Just flash the kernel that you have at the beginning or a kernel with cwm

[Q] CWM Recovery gives an error while installing GAPPS! Help!

Hi! I've recently installed on a SGS3 CyanogenMod 11 with 4.4.4 Kitkat. Now I'm trying to install the GAPPS pack but when I select the zip file from the CWM Recovery menu it abort the installation saying "file_getprop: failed to stat "/system/build.prop": No such file or directory"
You can find the image with the error at the end of the post. Thanks!
Do you have the newest recovery??
Or try to download another GAPPS. This can be broken
The file might be corrupted, try another ggapp if you have the latest version of CWM.

[Q] Error while flashing CM 11 ROM on HTC One M7

I am trying to flash my HTC One M7. I bought this device from T-Mobile.
I am using ClockworkMod Recovery v6.0.4.8 (recovery-clockwork-6.0.4.8-m7.img). However, whenever I try to flash anything, it give me an error. I am using Cyanogenmod snapshot build (cm-11-20141112-SNAPSHOT-M12-m7.zip). Aso tried latest nightly build.
Steps I am following:
Wipe data/factory reset -> Yes - wipe all user data
install zip -> install from sdcard -> select the zip file
Log:
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Installing update...
Installation aborted.
I get same error whenever I try to flash anything. Either it being UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.zip or GAAPPS. I have also tried TWRP (twrp-2.8.6.0-m7.img) still same error. Right now, except recovery, hboot and fastboot nothing else is working. When I try to boot the devices, it shows the initial HTC boot screen and gets stuck there.
I am following the instructions from here: wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Install_CM_for_m7
What's might be reason for it or where am I going wrong?
Use a different rom. Or a more updated one.

Found the issue. It was due to safari auto-unzip file after download. I was making a zip of the file again.
I used chrome to download the file and voila it worked perfectly.
