I recently bought Samsung galaxy quattro for a friend and i noticed that in settings its written 4.1.2 in about phone which i claim is not.
1) First you can't expand notification via single finger, you need to use 2 finger.
2) Memory leak issue.
I think its 4.1.1
What's your thoughts guys?

Strange. Samsung doesn't have reasons to modify build.prop. Your friend could use Odin to reflash stock ROM, it might solve these problems

This means you can expand notification with single finger ?
Yes, I can. But, before flashing the stock rom, bring the device to authorized technical assistance, since it's still on warranty.

Well that's weird! I used two quattro yesterday and i wasn't able to expand notification from my single finger, i had to use two. Maybe its a issue with indian handsets.

Hi everybody,
The camera flash of my new Samsung S3 haven't worked since the first day I've got my new phone. Factory reset didn't help The phone is in repair now, but I 'm wondering - did anyone have the same problem, or it's only my bad luck.
Thanks!
I don't think that many people have that problem, when I got my crapy arc last year,I didn't have any vibration, had to send it in

Yep, I guess, you're right. I hoped to get some information regarding the repair - how complicated it is, how long it can take...

Yes, I'm sure
Try a flashlight App from the market then you'll know if it's just cam software related.
You're the first one I've heard of who has a broken LED light, so it's not a common issue.
However even with the most rigorous quality control, when building several millions of a device there are a few bound to be broken upon shipping or have loose connections.
A friend of a friend was giving us a lift today, and she asked if we could turn on navigation on her phone since she was in the middle of driving. Her phone is a Galaxy S II, definitely i9100 and not the other variants (4.3" not 4.5", physical home button). She was running it on Telus but she bought it second-hand a few weeks ago so I assume it was a Bell or Virgin model.
Anyway I could see from afar that it was most definitely still running Gingerbread, and I wondered why it hadn't gotten the ICS update. I asked if I could see the phone and I went to the About screen - it's running 2.3.6, and the build number says Super ROM. Then I looked in her app drawer and saw Superuser. She is not the type who knows how to root a phone or would even want to, so the likely explanation is that the seller had installed a custom ROM and neglected to revert it before sale.
I've never owned an i9100... If she were to ask for help returning it to stock, would the simplest way just be to flash the Bell ICS ROM using Odin? Are there any precautions I'd need to take in case something the last owner had installed would be incompatible with the flash?

To be clear, she is a non power user. The ideal ROM for her is whatever would've been on there by now if it had never been hacked. So I believe that'd be ICS.

Just flash the ics of bell version since shes not a power user i did the same for wife shes has no intentions of using any custom roms for her just basic use
and i assume you know where too get that and yes flash in odin the stock version either from here you can get it or samfilmware ics version for 19100m
cheers
Thanks!
Actually I should add... The SuperROM she had on there said the device was i9100G. Is it possible that's just because it's what it says in the ROM, and it's still really an i9100m? Cause now I see they have different processors...

Hey. You better first make sure that the Galaxy S unlock tool isn't there, otherwise that's how the seller sim-unlocked the phone. Putting it on ics may lock it back up but you can unlock it again. If you move it to jellybean though, the unlock tool doesn't work yet. Ics is good enough for her.

Hey I'm also looking to update my phone and I'm sort of in the same situation as this girl. I bought my phone second hand and found out later that it was rooted and has CyanogenMod 7.1 on it. My model is the I9100 and my provider is Telus. I was looking to update it to CM10, but one of my concerns is that it might get locked again and I won't be able to use my phone on Telus. Should I just settle for CM9? Will it for sure get locked again? I'm a noob.

Presumably if it's genuinely an i9100G and not m (I'm not sure, as I only saw the phone once), it wasn't from a Canadian carrier. In which case who knows how it was unlocked.

A lot of people do experience frequently freezing after the latest update from Samsung. A few send in to repair and some did do their own magic stuff. But so far there isn't any clear solution. I think we ow a explanation from Samsung. This is a well known problem and people all over the world have it. But how can we get Samsung to take care. We didn't pay 600 € for a phone that freezes all the time.
I gues I bring mine in repair tomorrow.
Any tips?

Yes but I read that a lot of people got there device back from repair and they just reinstalled the firmware and that solved nothing. So I just don't want my phone away for 2 weeks and it didn't solve a crap...

very very few have a freezing problem a lot of the actual freezing problems are user error not a fault with the phone .

Yup I would fully wipe your device and reinstall the update. This is one of the reasons OTA will always cause an issue.
But I think I have a problem. 6 months ago I dropped and my camera screen came off... so that problaby meens I void my warranty?

Do you have memory of dropping your phone or maybe installing an APK that is not safe?
Maybe that could be a problem for you.
Just a question, not the answer.

The last time it dropped was 6 months ago. So I don't think that's the cause. I also resetted my whole phone a few times so an APK can't be the problem either I think. Or the APK must have broken some hardware? Is that possible?
Since the latest update from Samsung I haven't had any problems with it! What I noticed is that when I clear the RAM memory it only closes 10 apps. Before that were 30 apps. Does the update just limit the RAM or does it close less apps?

I installed the latest file from PHN from sammobile ( I9300XXELL4_I9300PHNELL2_I9300CEELL1_HOME.tar ) After the update my broadband-version is I9300CEELL1 , Buildnumber I9300XXEMC2.
Another question. When everything was OK and I didn't do anything, in the playstore my phone was named as T-mobile Samsung Galaxy S3. Then I installed the PHN version from Sammobile and now it only says Samsung Galaxy S3. In recovery it also says Applied multy CSC. Should I get another region code, the one from T-mobile netherlands?
Hi Guys! I am using Samsung Galaxy S2 I9100G INDIA model. After more than one year of use suddenly it started working weird.
1. Full 100% charging getting discharged to 0% in 2-3 hrs(99% phone is put on standby mode - not using for anything)
2. When I enable WiFi it is not able to scan. I repeatedly clicked on scan but it is not showing any progress of scanning and not listing my home WiFi network
I have tried:
1. Battery recalibration - no use
2. Factory reset - no use
3. Hard reset - no use
Can somebody help me with this? Is there a way to check that WiFi chip failed or not Or it's an issue with firmware(4.1.2)?

How can we change baseband? You mean by flashing a custom ROM? Please guide me....
I went to service center to know about the issue. He was just re-installed stock ROM by rooting the device even not hearing to my problem. When I say WIFI scanning is not working he turned on WiFi and was saying it's working. But I told him to let the phone scan for any WiFi hotspots close by(My friend phone SIII able to list all available hotspots). He then pressed scan and was saying motherboard was gone. Is that true? How can he say blindly even not checking until I tell him to check the WiFi.
If I need to change the motherboard how much does it costs in INDIA? and does it carries any warranty?

firstly, you should be rooted to change the baseband.
If you are rooted that find any compatible baseband of your rom version and flash the zip file through recovery.
As far as the motherboard is concerned, it is costly affair. Before coming to the conclusion of motherboard being damaged, lets first try all possible options. I don't see the motherboard issue here.
PM me your rom details and i will find a baseband for you.

My advise wud be to see some local repair shop as it might be a loose connection and would not need the replacement. No harm in getting it checked as he will not ask more than 200-300 rs. If still u find it did not work go for motherboard replacement from samsung.
Btw how much did they asked you for motherboard

U have to admit, some people have wanted to do a warranty claim for some really irresponsible reasons. We all nullify our warranty once we take that step.
No bad feelings here. You probably didnt even have to state a warranty issue.
Imo
