There is an app in /system/app that implicates there is a hidden menu in the phone. Well I did some digging and here is what I have come up with.
Dialing 3845#*970# brings up the menu for us with tons of diagnostic tools and radio controllers. I believe for the ones who have wanted to turn off LTE, this is where it will be done at!

Just thought I would share this with you all. There is a post a little bit about it on the Sprint forum, but thought i'd post it here too.
For those wanting to try to log it into 4G only try
Service Menu > WCDMA-Only > Modem Settings > RAT Selection > then select one of those, if one doesn't work try the other.
Hidden menu on AT&T LG Optimus G is 3845#*970#
Bleh thought it saved...i did the star lol
VZW S4 with ME7
Rooted and hidden menus restored.
*#*#4636#*#* and *#2263# do nothing
*#27663368378# take me to the presumed menu, and going through the menu, I tried:
[2] CDMA
[4] CONTROL
[9] CDMA BAND SELECT
[3] LTE ONLY (this is the option I want)
LTE ONLY SET
And it does nothing as well. It will stay on 3G like a disobedient dog. I found nothing else so far. LTE/3G apps do not work, they start and vanish so please don't suggest them unless you KNOW they work.
It is actually quite urgent that I restore this ability or I will have to go back to my previous phone and return the S4.
I KNOW advanced signal status works. I'll be in 5 bars 3g turn it to LTE only and I get the half bar LTE I want

You will need to go to additional info-device info once installed to get to the choosing menu

You are my hero. And I don't ever say that. I found nothing about this no matter how much I looked, which is extremely unusual.
This gets me right into the Testing menu that eluded me in the hidden menus.
However, LTE only doesn't work with this device? It acts as if I selected GSM...

Solution found.
Advanced signal status got me to the Testing menu I wanted, however it doesn't work for LTE only.
The ##3282# (##DATA#) gets me to the menu that will do what I want, however switching back requires a power cycle, unlike the Testing menu.

Is there any way for an Xperia to show which LTE band it is currently connected to or even force select which LTE band to connect to?
Some phones from other manufacturers seem to have it under hidden menu but not the case for Sony
